Wonderful aesthetic and great idea for the core gameplay. It wasn't clear to me why I would want to prefer kick to sword. I loved the giant pile of running zombies though!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD50 → Highrail to hell

Wonderful aesthetic and great idea for the core gameplay. It wasn't clear to me why I would want to prefer kick to sword. I loved the giant pile of running zombies though!
Damn timings felt tight but actually very doable in the end. Graphics are cool and works well with the very action packed gameplay, congrats.
You know how to make addicting action games. This one is very tricky early on but once you figure out the patterns it's very satisfying to fight the zombies. Each stage was a bit like a puzzle in that you had to figure out what to do with the door. The trickiest one was figuring out how to destroy the blocked door in time, for a while I was trying to kick it. Also loved the cinematic ending. Great game!
Fun game, could be little bit longer. This is one of best looking ludum dare games!
Great job as always, its really great to dodge from the zombies! 10/10
This is very cool! I love the dynamic camera over the pixel art!
Won't need to do any forearm workouts after playing this. Played on Windows and the controls were a little unresponsive at times for me. Could just be my keyboard. I would love to be able to play with a gamepad.
I love your graphics style and the added twist of having to break down the door. I would definitely play more levels.
Tough one, but I enjoyed it. Good art, great concept!
I love the art style! I personally think the game is actually a puzzle game disguising as an action game, which is awesome! It would be nice to have a few more stages, but the current stages are nicely crafted. Right now the stages feels like tutorials to introduce mechanics and tricks.
The game is pretty solid. On HTML, it's quite a little laggy and unresponsive. But not on Windows. I love the use of 2D and 3D in this game, feels so real. It's pretty short and I wish I could play a little bit longer. It's a solid great concept game.
Very impressive entry! Graphics and mood should score high. Congrats I enjoyed it a lot.
Okay, very neat game. I will say the difficulty of the door on the one level that requires breaking it down is a bit too high. If that were the second last level, that would be fine. But that was _really_ hard for the first one where you had to break it down. Constructive criticism aside though: ***Loved it!*** The dynamic camera movements and art was just on point! Very engaging game play and mechanics. Also awesome name lol.
Love how well the 3D environment works with the art style!
I'm surprised the WebGL build runs faster, it's usually the other way around in my experience...
Neat game, I like the aesthetic and the pacing.
I really like this game. The art and responsiveness of controls are top notch, I do feel like having the attacks be on X and C were a little awkward to press while using WASD to move, personally i would have liked the attacks to be mapped to the right side of the key board
@bo-dangles appologies. The game was only supposed to support arrow keys for movement lol. I forgot to remove wasd support. I would have added controls to the right side of the keyboard as well, just that it usually confuses some people about the control layout when I actually do it lol
I was expecting a bit more levels/endless, not really expecting it to be level based.
Control is probably the biggest problem than anything else. As someone who grew up with WASD instead of Arrow key, right hand doing movement is not really comfortable for me :D but other than that no complain.
Fantastic game! It reminds me warioware a bit. I love simple art style! Good job :)
I recognised your art style at first sight ! It's great as always :) Cool tight action gameplay, pretty hard but fun to play after a bit of trial and error. I like the kicking mechanic that makes killing enemies optional.
Super awesome! I was definitely disappointed when it ended, I had just gotten all the mechanics down! But dang if you expand on this idea it would be so fun! The combat felt super fair once I learned the timings, and dodging behind the zombie to kick it into the hoard was the most satisfying play I've been able to make this Ludum Dare! Fantastic work :P
Nice atmosphere! Sounds effects are nice, funny to hear hit sound after death
Great work! :v:
Nice work. Slight learning curve at the beginning but love the style.
Really love the graphics and the polish on the game, especially love the sound effects, something was weird with the music though. Gameplay was fun but it was too short and the theme is very loosely implemented here. Good job.
Cool little with great aesthetics and "nice" ambiance. Good job!
This was fun. I didn't get what needs to be done for the door to open right away, bet then somehow I managed to get through. The combat is pretty cool, I like that it has multiple aspects into it, and that it is not random, you have to time things correctly. It's cool that there's kicking as well as sword swinging.
Overall great game, good job!
Good game, difficult but very fun
pretty cool and difficult game, art is simple but works well, good job!
Well if it aint a BadPiggy game 😉 Great as always. Love the super responsive controls and movement, the juicy kick, the terrifying horde, and your classic 2/3d-ish style. As always, i just wish there was more of it because I'm greedy haha
I LOVED THIS GAMEEEEE, REALLY FUN the mechanics are interesting and the ambiance is pretty good. I've reached to the end of the game, i would like it to be larger, anyways I had fun.
great game! I really like the visual style and the audio was engaging. The dodging mechanic is quite satisfying. If you keep working on it, I would suggest tuning the difficulty to ease the player in more. I think the timing on the early levels is unforgiving.
Short and fun, but quite anticlimactic. It could've been a minute or 2 longer in my opinion. :)
cool game, wish it was longer as I was getting good at the combat haha. also would be great to have more options for controls. I decided to learn unitys input system this jam and its pretty easy to use and add new bindings to an action
Hello Piggy,
Overall this game was super fun to play. It felt really rewarding to learn about different ways you can attack and be involved in the combat with the zombies. The combat was my favorite part of this game. Great work explaining the controls and having simple objectives as well.
The one thing I would fix that I did not like was the controls. It was pretty difficult to remember and go back and forth between c, space bar, x.
Amazing game all through out, thanks for making it :D
A very cool idea. I would actually play this game on my spare time, in mobile, or something similar, if there were enough puzzles to solve. The game controls very well, and the puzzles are simple yet can be challenging until you get used to the game. Great submission!
50 ratings in half a day? You're like an LD celebrity now lol
That was a really neat twist of a game. I initially forgot I could dodge so I was Dark Soulsing the first enemy trying to figure out how to hit and back off optimally. Eventually I realized that was not how I was supposed to play the game and found the dodge.
The puzzle aspect is very WarioWare-y and it was fun to recontextualize everything accordingly. Simple scene and simple controls, and you figured out how to wring possibilities out of it. Very cool.
I was mostly impressed with the innovation here. I can't say I've ever seen a beat em up puzzle concept so this definitely surprised me. I feel like the genre could use a lot more of these ideas.
Nice short game!
The art style is absolutely amazing, along with all those nice feedbacks and screenshakes. Really strong stuff you got there. The mix of action / puzzle was a nice idea, would have love to have one or two more rooms! The buffer (or lack of) on input felt a bit weird to me.
Thanks for the game I had fun!
Love your iconic visual style. I can always tell when a game is made by you. The ending kind of surprised me hehe. What I really liked was that you always added a new objective for each room and kept it fresh that way.
I didn't really understand the kick mechanic while playing but that's ok since I never really needed it to play the game. It seems like the background-music plays over itself for a while when you reload a level. But those are minor gripes. Nice game, short but sweet and with a good difficulty curve!
Really like the pixel art and how you layered the seats to give them thickness :)
At first I didn't realize I could only kick the zombie when the health was red so I had thought it did nothing.
I had a good time playing, and I learned to roll on zombies intuitively, which felt great. One thing, it took me a while to see the tips.
Great stuff! Like everyone else has said, the art style is awesome! Whenever I died, the music seemed to start playing twice over itself. It was great overall, wish it was longer! :)
I loved the art on this one! The Minimalist/Pixel Art style work perfectly and has a bit of Zombie Night Terror feel for some reason.
But I'm really to bad at it, didn't even manage to kill the first dude haha.
I wish I was better, really want to play it more! :)
very cool idea of the graphics! Sometimes the door could not be hurt even when I hit it. It will be better to have a longer game experience! Good job!
The graphic style is cool.
Graphics are SUUUper good! Also very smooth flowy combat. Clear condition wasnt always clear and I didn't notice it up there till nearly the last room.
I think you focused too much on evasion, even though your combat system was so fun!!! Add some more content and this would be A+ :)
I wish I saw more combat! What was in there was really fun! I liked the puzzle aspect as well. Well polished!
Love it! Overall very good, among the best I've played! I liked how you used progressed the objectives for each car, and the ending was perfect! My only (super minor) complaint is the input scheme was kind of weird for me and I never really got used to it. I'd like to WASD Space + JKL or something like that.
Animations and movement felt really smooth with a great combat system and graphics
I really enjoyed it. The visual style was really good and the combat system was fun. Sometimes the dodge move got stuck and I couldn't dodge and the music didn'T loop properly and looped over itself. but still I like it very much.
Hey! This was a short-but-sweet entry. I feel like you've been refining your style for a long time, so it's nice to play a game that has those sensibilities locked in. I really liked the way you modulated things like giving the door HP in one level, or just having the objective be to roll past the zombie in another. The game definitely didn't overstay it's welcome, and I'd have gladly played double the amount of levels, which is a good sign I think.
I enjoyed the SFX and music. the graphics were, as is your style, suitably minimalistic but accompanied by a good amount of FX juice like screen shake. Feedback and telegraphing was good too, even if the UI circle for incoming hits is a little on the nose. I also think the text in the corner probably could have been presented in the centre of the screen in an overlay before the level starts, as it was a bit hidden away in its current position.
I think everything came together well in the end, and you should definitely be proud of this entry. Great job, thanks for the game, and best of luck!
Definitely a nice entry, pretty smooth and polished ! Although sometimes the kick didn't work, which was pretty frustrating since the game is hard enough already  great job still !
Great game, Love the art style, I did find the Dodge a bit sluggish but that may just be me. Really great game and would love to play a full game with more features.
Really like the game! The graphics style was very cool.
Nice game. Great art style!
Love the idea and the style is very cool but the fact that you cannot lose if not by winning feels a bit weird given the theme of this jam.
Great idea, great way of applying it, great job.
I love the idea of using zombies as the inevitable factor, fits very well. The game itself is great, would have loved some more scenarios but it is understandable being a jam.
The only things that bothered me is that, at first the player sprite seemed to be backwards making it look that I was walking the doing the moon walk hahaha. Other than that, good entry to the jam!
I love your art style here, the game had a fun aesthetic to it, I really enjoyed wandering through the various cars but I just wish there were more of them
Nice concept, a bit too short but fun ! I love the art style ! Great job.
Tightly designed game that had me on the edge of my seat (and insanity). Made it to the end, great entry!
I like how you can instantly tell if a game was made by you too ^^
I'm not sure if i screwed something up but in each level the hoard seemed to get stuck at the entrace to the carriage this meant i couldn't progress past the "use the hoard to kill the zombie" level. Controls felt tight though and i enjoyed what i could play of it.
Really nice artstyle! Simple, legible, but still looks fresh and interesting because of the diorama twist. Same goes for animation. Especially wanna point out the attack of the zombie: it was well telegraphed and gave you enough time to react. The only thing that confused me was the same as what @ZOMBIEBUST3R pointed out: player sprite seems to be backwards.
I really like how you gradually introduce mechanics. But I must admit, I didn't really see the task messages till the second to last level  Still got through the levels before anyway, it's kinda intuitive what you have to do.
Enjoyed playing this little game! Feels polished. My only gripe is that the gameplay is a little repetitive. It seems like you wanted to add much more though, just didn't have the time, which is understandable
Oh, on a sidenote. Stumbled upon a bug with music, at some point it started to repeat and overlay with itself.
Really fun game with a unique art style. I wanted to keep playing after it was over
A very cool idea! An atmosphere of suspense that leaves the player tense. Simple graphics and music that fits well. Too bad it's too short. This would make an excellent game if it were bigger.
Anyway, congratulations on the game! :)
very well executed little game
Really solid and well polished entry, left me wanting more! I like how you telegraphed the zombie's attacks with the red circle, definitely some trial and error but alternating dodging through and attacking felt very fun once I got the hang of it. Just wish it was longer really.
It's too short, I need more!
I see how it's a puzzle game as well as a beat-em-up. I was stuck at one door until I read my objective and then passed it immediately.
I like the graphic style, the simple sprites and the 3Dish environment, and the music was good and intense.
Fun game after I realised the mission was in the top right. My only complaint is that it is very short, I would've liked to have played more levels, or had it based on progress and RNG rather than a set few premade levels. But it was enjoyable once I understood the mechanics.
Change your name to "goodpiggy" because that's what I want to tell you! The movement was tight and fun, the tension was thick as the air in a smoker's bedroom when going from exit to exit and the audio was tastefully applied. Wonderful entry!
Yet another great entry. I admire the way you put mechanics and feel first in your games, it's something I want to emulate. That's not to say your art is bad, it has a very unique style, I knew this was your entry before I even read who made it.
As with your LD49 entry, I struggled with the combat, mainly because I forget dodging is something you can do, but I actually finished this one so that was nice.
Really good game! Short and sweet, just like a game jam submission should be! :)
I really liked the mechanics, especially the little puzzles for every train carriage!
Really well done! Keep it up!
This game feels really good to play, it took me some time to get used to the way the player moves and the combat but it is fun, although the combat does feel a little repeatable after a while, well done!
so fun but need more levels!!!!!!!
Another stellar Badpiggy game! You always have the tightest controls and I love the fact that you have such a unique style that I would have known that this game was made by you even if it was hidden.
I completed the entire game, and the only thing I can say is that I wish that there was more!
Cool idea and visuals! Really love how simple style managed to transfer the dread of situation like that.
I recognize directly your style :) It's clean and well done as usual! The difficulty is well balanced, I wish I haven't got that music loop playing over another loop as it becomes a bit chaotic. Good job and see ya for another one I suppose :D
Really fun action game with a very clever art direction. I loved how readable the movements of the ennemies were, and how the mechanics were put together.
Stengths: - Loved the variety of challenges - Very satisfying combat system - Unique art style that I will definitely identify the next time I see it :)
Possible improvements: - There was some latency in the movements in the web version, but that perhaps what your warning about speed was about.
Awesome game!
As soon as I saw this art style I knew it was you! great job, the kill the door part was a little challenging but I really liked to the look of the game!
Great game, the mechanics are well implemented and definitely fun. I wish there were more levels but still impressive for a weekend jam. Graphics and music did the job well. Nice work!
Nice short game! The train-environment art, characters and game feel were awesome. Combat system worked very well. I somehow finished it without using the kick! I think you could make some more levels without much effort, e.g. a level with two enemies, but I understand the restrictions of the jam. A post-jam update maybe?
I liked the ending, like every good zombie movie, the end is inevitable :)
Hey piggy, thanks for submitting your game to stream! I think you missed the first part, if you'd like to see what happened, here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1449607637
This is great, I love the animation and action here. I'll admit I was a bit confused when the timing windows seemed so tight, but seeing the description call it a puzzle game made me understand how to approach each objective. The zombie hoard feels alive and raises the tension every time they bust down the door. The melee combat is tight, and the dodge roll is quite satisfying. When I think "action puzzle" I usually think of Tetris or Panel de Pon, where you're really just playing an increasingly twitchy and fast version of a not-so-actiony puzzle game. The time management and objectives feel puzzling and it employs definite action combat throughout, so it's a really fitting and fresh take.
I wonder how this could expand. Combos, jumping, power-ups... It could all fit for sure. I'm imagining if there were several lanes that would allow for movement along the z-axis. It's a great concept, really well done.
Great simple game! I like how each level has a different task, especially with the level where you had to get the horde to kill the zombie for you. I'd love to see this idea expanded upon and made into a bigger game!
Short and sweet, loved it! The Dark Souls of inevitable sub-5-minute games!
Aww that was quite a short experience. I feel like dodging without having to hold an arrow key would feel much better. Other than that, it was a fun experience. Neat aesthetics!
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my stream!

Really great game! I loved when the second last level's mission is waiting for zombies to kill the single zombie. Mechanics were really good too!!!
That was really hard but fun once I got the hang of it. Great job with the tight and polished gameplay. The graphics and music are very simple but nice.
The mechanics were simple, but the small puzzles actually gave a challenge and with each try I felt myself figuring out the way to beat the level in time. This is a great vertical slice that you can work with to develop something much larger if you wanted to. Oh and in the final room if you just don't walk into the collision box in the center of the room you won't ever lose, so you probably could've kept the timer so the game ends no matter what the player decides to do.
Really great work you did!
Nice game! It looks really good and feels nice to play! It is a bit hard but otherwise such a nice game!
I'm impressed, good game idea! I wish you success with the development of the project!
Nice aesthetic with a simple but fun movement set!
Very nicely well put game. It was short and I was left wanting more. Your innovation was good as the combination of mechanics to do certain tasks was great and the feedback was very crisp and great. I liked it a lot and I loved having to be creative with how I was going to approach each objective. Unfortunately seeing the objective was a bit difficult and there was a level where I was trying to break down the door when I had to actually have the zombie die from the horde, but I did make it through haha. Strong entry and I like the art style.
Good job!
This was super difficult for me, as i don't often play fighting games, and i felt it was a bit hard to determine what the enemies were doing. Most of the time i felt i had no idea what was going on. Very short once I did figure out what to do
I got stuck in a room, twice, where I had a zombie and a door to break down and that is HARD. Doing things like ramping up the difficulty in a smooth way is REALLY HARD in a game jam, but I feel like this could become a boss mobile game given a bit more work because that was really fun. Thank you. :D
The visuals were unique and interesting but I'm sad to say that I didn't find the gameplay interesting.
The first few levels were simple, which is understandable, but the timing on the "Break the exit door down" stage was very tight in a way that felt like a frustrating difficulty spike, rather than being tense or exciting. After finally beating that stage, the game ended almost immediately afterwards... :(
The combat itself was quite good, though. Enemy attacks were clearly communicated and there were just enough different abilities available that, for the most part, it didn't feel like I was just mashing the attack button to defeat them.
That was an enjoyable little game @badpiggy! I remember Red Archer from LD48. It seems all your games have those same appealing low-poly graphics and color schemes. Definitely an eye catching trademark! I played this game on my stream and while it was really short, it offered a nice challenge. The concept of angry people rushing into the room to beat you up was pretty cool. Had me on the edge of my seat haha! Great job.
Nice graphics and well-polished mechanics. Second wagon felt too hard, especially since the later wagons were easier.
I love every puzzle except breaking the door down. I kept dying when I was rushed on both sides, so fast I thought it was the inevitable portion of your game. Overall it was a great time and pretty cool/creative mechanics. I also enjoyed the art style. Thanks for brining it by! highlight: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1451440143?t=03h08m40s
I really dig the aesthetics and fluid gameplay! Difficult game, but very enjoyable!
Really nice artwork! I found it quite difficult, but fun!
As always your style is great and recognizable.
I didn't realize the objective was written at the top until after I beat it. I was left wanting more levels, so perfect jam game.
I'll say I was annoyed by how the dodge worked, felt sluggish, and kinda wished it would dodge you in the direction you're facing even if you're not holding a key. I'll also say while the SFX were great I was pretty annoyed by the music loop pretty fast.
But despite that, I'd definitely play as many levels of this as you'd make, the gameplay just feels that good to me.
I love the aesthetic of the game ! It's a bit too short but it has potential, i loved to see a more advanced version.
Very nice beat 'em up! The controls took awhile to get used to, and the music was a bit repetitive, and I wish it was a little longer, but nonetheless, a very nice game!
It keeps in suspense well
I'm bad at this game but it's still an impressive entry! Nice work.
A shame this was so short, but it was well done. The music fit in the atmosphere quite well. I like how you introduced gameplay mechanics with each level, great job! If you plan to continue this, maybe you could add shaking or something, since this is on a train and could be a good way to make prolong it and make it more difficult
Pretty tight and short game, nice entry and cool graphic style!
Tight gameplay, I really enjoyed the combat in this one. Had a blast beating it and it is one of my fav LD 50 games I have played.
Nice little game. I felt like the web version was indeed sometimes at inconsistent speed. Had fun anyway, good job!
Definitely a challenging game. The objective is not to kill but to survive. Took a while to figure the game out at 1st. I like the pixel art style.
Seeing as though the jam ends in a few hours, thought I'd write a small thank you message.

Thank you all for playing Highrail to hell. I apologise for the difficulty that some of you faced. I probably should have balanced the game better and made a better tutorial section which explained the objective system better since that was one of everyone's main gripes. I'm polishing a post jam version to fix some issues. This includes the door level where I've reduced the amount of health on the door a little and have also made some teaks which mostly fixes the game speed issue. Not too sure when I'll release it though.
Either way though, thank you all for playing :). Some of you even played on stream and it was an absolute joy to watch.

Oh man, apologizing for difficulties? Bah! You made this game in less than 100 hours. It's an exceptional accomplishment and you should be very proud of it. Honestly a very fun experience. Thank you for creating it and sharing it with us.
