LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate by benjamin 2022-04-16T01:08:22Z

I think this is the game I've rated the highest so far! Just, everything about this game is great! I could even see this becoming an actual product! If I had to say one thing, it's that you shouldn't always get damaged if you enter an enemy's radius while their turn is multiple turns away, but besides that, this game is absolutely phenomenal and you guys should keep up the amazing work!

Flooded Caves by nusan 2022-04-16T00:52:16Z

Very nice game, especially taking into account that it was made on the pico-8! The water physics were well made, and the music was bouncy and fun! Difficulty was well tuned as well (I beat it on normal on my first try.) The only thing is that the game has a tendency to lag, but that's more an issue with pico-8 than your code, great job!

My happy weedy farm by Marin0104 2022-04-12T23:03:41Z

Very cute little game! In terms of graphics, the icons above the crops can be a bit confusing because it's exactly on top of the crop above it; and controls aren't fully explained. But eventually you will figure everything out. One other thing, is that because there's no goal, the game just kind of goes on, it's not easy enough to be fully relaxing, but it's not hard enough to be really challenging. If there was a goal, there would be a reason to keep playing, but there isn't enough variety as is to keep playing. But it is a very cute little game! And sorry if my criticisms seem harsh, but I really do see potential in this game, good job!

Settlers & Prophecies by Chocolat-Endive 2022-04-06T22:40:35Z

Astounding! This is by far the best game on this jam that I've played! It's a really solid city builder by itself, but adding in the fact that it was made in three days for a game jam? It's really amazing what your team was able to pull off. If I had to critique anything, I would probably ask that you explain more to the player, as they kind of have to start a throwaway game to figure it out, and also putting an indicator that half of the harbor has to be under the water would be nice. But besides all of that it's a really amazing game!

This game is very good looking. The gameplay was fun, but a bit repetitive, I feel like raising the minimum required seconds to get a hit each round would make it harder, as hitting the 10 second minimum is quite easy. But besides that, the graphics were very nice, I enjoyed it!

I Know What You Did Last Ludum Dare! by TentacleMax 2022-04-05T21:50:33Z

I liked this game! It had a very hectic vibe to it, being that you have to control all of the teens at once! I thought it was quite interesting. The pixel art was very pleasant to look at, I especially like the tileset in the background. Overall I'd say you did a great job!

Blasty Tag by GreenPig 2022-04-10T23:30:19Z

The game was really really fun! I really liked the hectic nature of the game! The music was good, if a bit repetitive. But a very solid entry for the jam!

Farewell by Geryon Games 2022-04-05T22:06:00Z

Really good game! Sometimes your mom can just kind of spawn on top of you, but besides that I thought it was a cool game!

Dang, wasn't able to finish this due to having to leave (I'll probably come back later.) But from what I've seen this game is amazing! Keep up the good work!

Word Wizard by Slecornu 2022-04-10T23:39:30Z

Very fun with charming graphics! The resolution was too small to fit smoothly in fullscreen, but playing it in windowed works just fine! I like the multiple dictionaries as well. No real critiques, just some general polishing would be nice!

Cat in the Bag by JoshH 2022-04-16T01:15:28Z

There's really not much to say about this. It's a cute game with a charming artstyle and witty dialogue, if I were to say something, I wish the game was more interactable, but that's just me! Good job!

1 Man 6 Bullets by Raphaeltan 2022-04-16T00:43:11Z

Very impressive game jam game! I'm struggling to find things to critique! One of the most surprisingly good games for sure!

Highrail to hell by BadPiggy 2022-04-12T22:47:22Z

Very nice beat 'em up! The controls took awhile to get used to, and the music was a bit repetitive, and I wish it was a little longer, but nonetheless, a very nice game!

Over the Rainbow Bridge by Iguanana 2022-04-12T23:14:51Z

This game was interesting. The gameplay (what there is) was really basic, with no real way to fail, you could beat the entire thing by just pressing space, trying to collect the good things and dodge the bad things is really basic, but because it's random, it is sometimes impossible to avoid all bad things; and speaking of good and bad things, the graphics aren't incredibly clear on what is "good" and what is "bad." The graphics were good, the dog's walk cycle is a little janky but it does it's job. A lot of people (including myself) have issue with the dialogue boxes not registering inputs, but bugs are expected to be in game jam games. Now for some more positive aspects, the story was really sweet and emotional, and pretty much objectively the best part of this game. Either way, this game is very cute, with a sweet story, but some lacking gameplay. Sorry if my criticisms seem harsh, but I'm just trying to be fully honest with my opinions.

@charlesschar Thank you for your positive feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

Wrath of the Sun God by Skript-Kitty 2022-04-05T21:59:25Z

@drewg8 Thank you so much for your feedback! Glad you appreciate the squishing on the character (in hindsight, I spent way to long trying to get that to work.) I'm super glad I was able to nail the difficulty (based on what you said.) And I definitely agree with you about the controls and theme issues. The character's horizontal momentum is way too slow, even considering the original idea I had no idea why I didn't speed him up? And yeah the charge shot is a little too strong, originally it would have charged twice as slow, but that made the rapid spam of the weakest shot the strongest move, which turned the game into a button mashing simulator, so I sped up the charge as a band-aid fix, and I should have definitely slowed it down, maybe 1.5x instead of 2x? Idk. And about the theme, the tldr; is that the game was going to be a LOT different (see the itch page for that story.) and about half way through I came to the realization that I wouldn't hit the theme, but I decided to finish the project anyways. Anyways, thanks so much for your feedback.

Wrath of the Sun God by Skript-Kitty 2022-04-06T21:54:05Z

@sagiii Thanks for your feedback! Yeah I got a bit stressed near the end (which is when I did sfx) so I kind of skimped out on certain things, I definitely should have included more. Anyways thanks for your feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Wrath of the Sun God by Skript-Kitty 2022-04-06T22:00:39Z

@polymathld Thank you for your feedback! I've been getting a lot of feedback about the horizontal movement being too slow, and I can't help but agree 100%, I really don't know why I didn't fix that earlier on. Maybe I thought the slower, more precise movement would make the bullet hell segments easier to dodge? I'm not sure but I really liked an above suggestion that slowed your movement when you were charging, so maybe that could work as a TouHou-like focus mode? The more I read the feedback the more I want to remake the game into It's original idea! Well anyways, thank you for your feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

@ashley-watson Glad you appreciate the story!

Wrath of the Sun God by Skript-Kitty 2022-04-17T17:38:28Z

@martenscedric Thanks for your feedback! I've gotten several comments on the control scheme, and you mentioned it feels weird as a right handed person, I thought that was funny, as I am left handed! So maybe that's why it feels fine to me. I should keep in mind to have some of my right-handed friends playtest the game first! Thanks for your feedback!

Wrath of the Sun God by Skript-Kitty 2022-04-17T17:47:22Z

@martenscedric Thank you for your feedback! Yeah I totally agree with you, once you know the boss' attacks it becomes really easy to just throw yourself at him and win. I wanted the patterns to be more complex on higher difficulties, but I just settled for lives as to save time. And I really don't get why I didn't add an option to skip dialogue, as its slow speed frustrated me a lot during playtesting, I'm really not sure why I didn't add an option to skip it. But yeah thanks for your criticism!

Wrath of the Sun God by Skript-Kitty 2022-04-17T17:51:35Z

@paul-nadan Thank you for your feedback! I definitely agree about shifting the arena around to make it more interesting! The extra platforms do feel like wasted space, and the game doesn't really feel like a platformer despite being labeled as one. If I were to make a project like this one again, I would definitely done something like that. Again, thanks for the feedback!

Wrath of the Sun God by Skript-Kitty 2022-04-17T17:53:02Z

@winter2277 Thanks for your feedback! There was once supposed to be targets in the room before the boss so that the player could get a hold of the controls. They got cut for time reasons, but I do agree that it would help the game to do that. Thanks for your feedback!
