This is a really solid effort! I'm impressed with the amount of content you were able to fit in. Great job!
Funny, well themed and an enjoyable time. Great job!
Great work - the game was easy to learn and had some interesting decisions. With some more visual polish and mechanic fine tuning, it could really shine. Keep it up!
Really good job on a polished game. Smart idea for the mechanics and I really liked the background music. Also, your rampup in difficulty and teaching the player was great. I'd recommend increasing the snake move speed a bit. Other than that, great work!
@black-potion Thanks for the bug report - all fixed! And thanks for giving my game a shot :-)
@aterlamia Appreciate the feedback - I agree that with the random generation sometimes you get a bad hand and no real way out after your first drop of spores. You can actually skip the tutorial by clicking on the target/bullseye button. If you don't want to place your spores right away, then you can click on the water and it cancel the placement action. Then you're free to look at all the islands. Thanks for playing my game!
@enderswype I appreciate the honest feedback. I'll do some work on it to clear things up!
@bar hmmm I haven't run into a 0 Total Spores bug yet. All you should have to do is click the bullseye button and then click on any City/Island. If the game loads and it doesn't say 50, then it might be a compatibility bug. I've tested it on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and IE for PC with no issue. If you tell me what browser & platform, I can dig into it some more. I appreciate the feedback!
@bar I found the issue you were talking about and have now updated the game with a fix. Let me know if you still run into problems. Thanks for the help!
The smooth player animation and glowy graphics are really cool. A little floating - but no a show stopper. Great work!
Really well made - probably the best I've run across in this LD. Theme, art, music all on point. And the level generation really helps the replay value. Great work!
Great work - I really like the art and effect. The damage screen ripple is really cool. Good job on ramping up the difficulty as the game goes on.
@incobalt - Thanks so much for the feedback. I completely agree that it's a bit more repetitive and dull than I was imagining from the start. I was hoping to add more features (character powers, towers, etc) - just ran out of time. I appreciate you taking the time to try it out!
Art, music, and dialog all top notch. The introspection definitely made me chuckle. Great work!
Really awesome idea and great polish on the graphics, art, and charm. As others mentioned, the free-form snaking movement controls were wonky but usable. Super innovative. Great work!
I really liked the simplicity and execution of the idea. I was blown away by how into the simulation I got. Really appreciate you making something off the beaten road like this! Awesome work.
This is a really great concept. It was a bit mind-melting at times, but it made me really want to keep trying. The song clips were simple and easy to listen to. Enjoyed this game a lot. Awesome work!
Really enjoyed the graphics and music! If I could tweak one thing, it'd be to let the camera float some more on the vertical so that every time you go up stairs it doesn't step change with the player - its a bit jarring. Other than that, great work!
I admit it - I couldn't get past the Silver Key! Maybe I was missing the hints? In any case, really cool concept. The graphics and mood were fitting. Loved the mood. Great work!
Really liked the theme and the sound effects / music were on point. Awesome work and polish!
Really tight controls and precision platforming. I got to where the three spikes fly to the right and had to throw in the towel. Great work putting together an enjoyable game!
@Lombax - I just realized I didn't explicitly mention the actual looping mechanic in the game! Thanks for catching that.
@masaru - I had actually planned for there to be an enemy that covers your current area with a damage effect to force you to move more into the danger zone, but I ran out of time. Definitely some mechanics that could be added.
Thanks @patrick-sweeney @lombax @masaru for giving my game a shot!
@snowinn - Unfortunately, the Webgl build didn't work at the time of the submittal. I'll see if I can do a bit of debugging and get one out now that there isn't crunch time :-)
@ismael-rodriguez - thanks for the feedback. you're right that the grey is a bit blah by itself. I'll think on color palette a bit next time. Cheers!
@matthewrobo - I had originally planned on the character taking and switching between various attacks based on which bosses they defeated. Unfortunately, ran out of time implement it. Thanks for playing!
@snowinn - I've uploaded a WebGL build to Itch if you're still interested!
@witekwitek - thanks for the feedback!
1. The tiles were suppose to be the first pass..never got time for the second pass. 2. I didn't realize the gameover screen was low for some people - it's right in the middle for me. I'll have to look into it. 3. Thanks for the bug report. I'll check it out.
Really awesome idea for the theme. It was extremely satisfying to actually hit a ship. How I hit them? No idea. I had no plan. I just swung it. Loved the art direction - simple yet appealing. Great work!
As others have said - really hard to get the controls working the way I was expecting. The idea definitely had merit and I could see some interesting puzzles come out of it. Great job on pushing through even though you weren't wanting this theme!
Really awesome game. My only nitpick is that the resolution clipped on both the web version and the downloaded version. I was still able to play it without issue but the first rune was only about half on the screen. Loved the art, music, and concept. Great work!
@overlook-studios FYI - I'm running 1680x1050
The concept was really cool. The controls and level design a bit tough. Great work finishing the project!
Definitely got my blood pressure up after a couple days in! Solid execution on the theme and I got some chuckles with the sound effects. Great work!
Really digging the concept (as someone with a programmer's heart). If I had to nitpick, it'd be that the font was extremely hard to read on the fly and that the enemies didn't pose much of a threat the first half of the game. With some tuning and additional features, this would be a really good micro game. Awesome work!
#2 (at the time of writing)! Once the controls and perspective were figured out, it's a pretty enjoyable little game. Really liked the aesthetic / graphics. Great work!
Had a lot of fun with the gameplay loop - did about 20 levels. I also though the controls were really good which is an important in a game like this. Great work!
Enjoyed the art and controls. Super rough only being able to take one hit. Definitely gave it a couple tries though. Great work!
Great art, sound, and polish! Really liked the mechanic of the powerup move - makes it a much more unique game. Awesome work!
Really impressed with the amount of mechanics you were able to build into the game in such a short amount of time. Clean and easy to learn. Great work!
That is one agile cat! Really fun to move around and I thought the music was on point. Great work!
Fun little game! I really liked how the controls felt - a lot of 'weight' behind the movement. Only complaint is one of the patterns, I didn't feel like I could ever hit the gap between rocks just right. Overall, great work!
Solid game, easy to pickup, and fit the theme well. Once I got down into the 40's area, it was pretty impossible to not hit something. Would have been nice to have a bit more control. Overall, great work!
I can see what the vision was and I like where it was going. However, the scope is pretty big for a gamejam and the lack of polish puts a bit of a damper on the underlying mechanics. What you were able to put in to it shows a lot of good work! The character visuals were cute and the mechanic is great. Awesome work pulling this together!
That is a mind-bending challenge! Nice implementation. Great work!
Art, music, and ambience was great. Didn't run into anything challenging though - just moving right. The lighting was great. Awesome work!
Really like the mood/world building in this. The action was challenging but fair. Did get soft locked after the first boss, but still had a fun time up to that point. And kudos on the landing animation on the enemy frogs - super satisfying. Great work!
The controls were on point and the dash mechanic was extremely satisfying. Great work!
Really like this take on a Tower Defense. Love the way you can manipulate the path. Thought I was being cheeky by surrounding the end point with towers only to find out the enemies can destroy them! Smart anti-cheese mechanic there. Solid core concept - with a graphics overhaul and additional tower/enemy types, you could have yourself a fun little game. Great work!
Really liked the the animation on the main character and the mood. The music was well done, too. Great work!
Solid concept that could use polishing. Some of the text was really small and the direction of the game wasn't 100% clear. For a first compo, really awesome work!
Loved the mechanics and the theme! The restriction of not being able to demo a pipe really hinders the fun on new buildings/sinks showing up. Altogether, frantic and fun! Great work!
Always enjoy myself a programming game! Straight forward controls and increasingly interesting puzzles. Really liked the background music - gave it a good vibe. Great work!
Definitely an interesting concept and you can actually learn stuff about Hitler along the way! Great execution - thanks for making this.
Great work! The game was entertaining and the music fit. As others have mentioned, the difference walkable vs non-walkable tiles are difficult to see (at least on my old monitor). Really liked the idea of having multiple ends. That's always a great way to get engagement on short jam games where people want to experience more.
I don't know what it was - maybe how 'uncanny valley' it is, but I was chuckling and enjoying myself as I played through it. Nice job creating something really unique!
Quaint, perfect controls for an underwater vehicle, and really enjoyable to play. I thought the music was great across all the areas. That extra bit of polish was awesome. Great work!
The premise cracked me up and it was an interesting take on the theme. The music was a bit repetitive as you go through the levels - either a longer loop or variations would have been nice. Great work!
Really liked the concept and art style! The animations were so smooth for pixel art. My only gripe is that it was hard to tell if there was a way to strategically know where the enemies were moving. Sometimes it was just moving back and forth in place until an opening happened. Generally though, I enjoyed playing your game - great work!
Really innovative deckbuilder! I like the intent system but I don't feel like it really impacted my decision making that much. Awesome work!
Tis a silly game, but definitely interesting and different than a lot of the other entries. Great work!
Super cute game. Loved the mini-game of stirring to change things up. As others have said, keeping track of which combos make which potions is a bit much for how many combos are possible. Music and art was on point. Great work!
Liked the idea and the graphics were delightful. As others have said, having the controls explained outside the same would have been pretty helpful because I missed some of the information in-game. Great work!
Quirky and funny. Great job!
Really cute! I liked how you could actually see where the unstable platforms were during the shaking. Nice touch - that made it less trial and error and more of a memory game. Also, the 'move' sound cracked me up. Great work!
Really enjoyed the take on the theme and the idea of crashing into the other ships. Graphics were clean and the music made it feel that much more hectic. Great job!
Really enjoyed playing through it. The level 'smile' was my favorite - had me stumped for a bit. Mechanics were great and the music fit the theme. If I had one complaint it was that an incidental mistake on my part meant redoing a whole section again (perfectly). A rewind mechanic would been amazing but understandable left out for a jam. Great work!
Streamline, simple mechanic that was really satisfying. It almost felt like gambling - just wanted to try *one more time* on level 4 power haha. Awesome execution on graphics and sound. Great work!
Excellent work on the graphics and sound. I felt like the crystal being in an arbitrary spot made it a bit less fun as the first 'life' on a level was just finding it before dying due to time. Other than that, great job team!
Loved the graphics and theme. The pinball-esque platforming was super satisfying. Awesome job!
Great little game. Loved the play on words and muzzle mechanics.
Really loved the mechanics, music, and graphics. Great work!
Super cute game. Simple and infuriating at the same time!
Loved it. Super polished from graphics to mechanics to music/sound. Awesome work by the team! One of the best games of the jam.
Really loved the concept and the mechanics. It had just the right amount of challenge and diversity to keep things interesting. Two drawbacks - 1) readability of the characters and 2) some of color palettes were just not enjoyable to look at - maybe it was suppose to be part of the challenge, but it took away from the game more than anything. Great work!
Really liked how the progression system for the abilities opened up the level. Cute graphics and pretty tight controls. Two pieces of feedback: 1) the camera locked so tightly to the characters movement is a bit disorienting - consider using a softer tracking in the future. 2) seemed like the jump button didn't always register leading to some unfortunate deaths. Overall though, really enjoyable. Great job!
Loved the style - graphics, music/sound, and theme. As someone who can never remember color theory, it was a bit difficult without a reference. Other than that, great game!
Really awesome idea and execution. Loved the graphics and the controls. The orbiting was pretty difficult! I feel like giving more fuel at the beginning would have made the trial and error of finding the right orbit a bit fun. Having to redo the asteroid part over and over because I couldn't hit the orbit with enough gas made it a little repetitive. Overall all though, really like it! Awesome work.
Heart-pounding fun and super polished. Loved the idea!
Really loved this one. Crunchy turned based actions (ala Into The Breach), polished graphics, great music, and perfect take on the theme. If I had to gripe, I would have liked to have seen some descriptions on the upgrade to help onboard the user. Otherwise, great work!
Great mood, visuals, and take on the theme. Impossibly difficult but still super fun. Awesome work!
The movement was smooth and the art was cute, but I couldn't get the pickup to work for some reason.
Really enjoyable movement and mechanics. On the next iteration, perhaps make it so there are different enemies that are stronger, weaker or immune to different ammo types. Great work!
Loved the idea and the execution on the theme. The graphics are top notch. Great work!
Cute game! Loved the art style and the controls felt good. Definitely hectic trying to get the patterns understood, but definitely enjoyable. Great job!
Really well executed game. A lot of depth for a jam game, too! Awesome work.
Loved it! The take on the theme and the peeling back of the onion was really satisfying. I have no idea how you were able to put all that together in 48 hours - super impressive. One of my favorites of the jam. Awesome work!
Super polished game with an excellent mechanic that becomes really deep. Loved the art style and learning curve. One of the best games in the jam so far. Great work!
Short and sweet little game! I liked it. Really enjoyed the take on the theme and how foot enemy's attack. Great work!
Well executed game! The graphics and controls were great. I really liked the way the hearts float around your character. Awesome work!
Cute game! Loved the jokes and the art style. Great work!
Really well put together! The animation and vibe of the game were great. The turntable camera was a nice touch. Great work!
Really satisfying gameplay! Clean visuals, great hit feedback, and addictive upgrades. One of the best games I've played in the jam so far. Great work!
Pretty cute little game. Nice and simple, but really well executed. Loved the song. Great work!
748! Great little game. I liked the rainbow text and the variations on what is thrown. Awesome work!
Perfect execution on the feeling of being in an alien land! The music was great for adding even more atmosphere. The mechanics were really well done. I felt like the upgrades were meaningful and I was looking forward to spending getting that next upgrade. It's just the right level of difficulty, too. Really awesome work! You should be extremely proud of the entry.
Really loved this one. Great art and sound for a puzzle game with just the right amount difficulty. One of the best games of the jam I've played so far. Awesome work!
@cagibi - Thanks for finding the bug! I've noted in the itch.io page for future players.
@verttixpertti - Most of the plants only scored points in the middle of the range. Because of this, there are times where reducing a stat was the right move. Goes to show that I could have made the instructions more clear. Thanks for playing!
@feor - Thanks so much for the in depth feedback! I was really hoping to have time for a more difficult AI, sounds/music and some more mechanics (pushing plants in different directions to optimize the area of effect cards). Time got away from me, though. Really appreciate the thoughtfulness in your reply!
@captaindreamcast - Glad you liked it! There are definitely some flashes of what I was imagining in my head, but will need a lot more polish. So happy to hear that the core loop was solid enough to keep playing. Thanks for your detailed comment!
@diesdas - Thanks for the feedback! Agreed that it was too ambitious. That is a recurring theme for my jam scopes. I needed another 24 hours for the polish. Appreciate you playing my game!
Probably the most unique take on the theme I've seen so far! Loved the change in sound effect of the toilet dragging when it was full. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that it was a little bit *too* easy to get aliens to sit down since they all got funneled into the entrance of the building and there were tons of them. Either way, I enjoyed it for what it was. Great work!
The amount of mechanics you fit into the Compo timeframe is crazy. Seems like there is a lot of depth to be explored. As you mentioned in a comment on my game, teaching card game rules in a jam is always really difficult. Really nice effort!
Great visuals and the controls were really reasonable. Fun little game. Awesome work!
Really satisfying running over the chickens. Pretty fun art style, too. When purchasing, the text for dead chicken currency was a bit small, so it took an extra couple seconds to find it the first time. Other than that, fun little game! Great work.
Really cool puzzle setup! Modeling was really good for a jam. Would have been nice to have a mouse sensitivity option - it was super fast for me. Great work!
Beautiful art and an interesting gameplay loop to go with it. Really well executed for your first jam. Congrats!
Really loved the mood and graphics. Your take on the theme was novel and led to a really cool mechanic. Unfortunately, the controls hampered the enjoyment of it a bit - the wall jumping was pretty finicky. Overall though, really impressive entry!
Pretty good jam entry! The mechanic was solid and controls were tight. At times, I had a hard time differentiating my character with the particles and enemies. Other than that, great work!
I loved how relaxing this game was, even with the timer. Solid execution on a fun mechanic. Great work!
Cute little game! It wasn't until about 4 plants in that I realized it was going to be harder than I originally thought to win. Great execution!
Really liked the mood you set for the game. Also, the particle effect coming out of the combine turning red after it has run over a hunter was pretty nifty. Great work!
The enemies are relentless and the dynamite effect is super satisfying! I'd suggest toning down the enemies at the very beginning so the player can get their footing. Great work on the game!
The pun take on the theme made me chuckle and the atmosphere was great. The readability on the colors was a bit rough - I'd suggest using a preset color palette (like from https://lospec.com/palette-list). Also, I didn't realize that harvesting took time the first time I tried it on a harp. I thought the game was broken. A timer or visual would have been helpful. Great work on the game!
Cozy little game with really good puzzle design doing the whole subversion of the "obvious" solution. Really strong sokoban mechanic. As a quality of life thing, I'd suggest factoring in the distance that the characters move so that is the same time of travel for 1 square vs 4+ squares away. Great work!
The visual progress aligning with actual progress felt really good! Controls were pretty intuitive for the most part. Great work!
The styling and music was a really cool vibe. The controls were a bit finicky, but overall enjoyable little game. Also - cool shaders!
Controls were pretty good and intuitive mechanics. Also, the music was nice and soothing. The level layout was a bit unforgiving, but if you were going for rage game - you nailed it. Great work!
I liked the idea for the theme but I didn't ever feel like I needed to sacrifice anyone. Maybe I missed a visual cue or it never came up? I thought the harvesting of the fields was satisfying, though. Great work for your first jam!
Congrats on finishing! Nice minimalist puzzle game. Awesome work!
