Okay, this one is good.
You've come up with a fun mechanic that fits the theme and feels original, and then it feels like you've thought about the little edge cases and corners that arise from that mechanic -- what if X, what if Y, and built challenges around them.
I also appreciated the little quality-of-life things. The instructions are presented along the way instead of a page of text at the beginning. And when you finish a level, it's quick, bam, you're straight on to the next one.
There's also lovely chiptune music, which is a joy to listen to and fulfils what I think is the purpose of music in a game like this, which is to keep you playing even when something frustrating happens. And I got to the end despite constantly falling into the single-dog-plus-food-equals-failure trap, so it worked.
Really great entry. I had to give out a lot of 5s for this one, and I am jealous of your game design skills.
I love a game with cute pups!! It helps when the gameplay is great too!! Really enjoy your take on the theme, and the puzzles were fun to think about. It's always fun to be a little stack of pups trying to get a quick snack!
I think the graphics and audio really go well together. Great job!

Beautiful little game!! It's short and sweet, and the levels flow wonderfully. Excellent art and music, too. While I think this game is a perfect length, I wouldn't mind meeting these dogs again in the future if they end up needing more bones... the game mechanics could definitely be explored even further!
Neat mechanic. I think there are lot left to explore in this mechanics.
One thing I thought I could do is to chain my double jump; i.e. after a jump, I wish can quick switch to another dog to jump even higher. That might add some new depth to the game.

Absolutely adorable from the mechanic to art to music! Easy to pick up + perfect level progression with tutorial introductions; I loved it!
Loved the puzzles here. They weren't too difficult, but still very satisfying to figure out, which is pushed even further by a wonderfully simple mechanic. SFX for the pups would really take it to the next level, but that's nitpicky. Definitely a favorite for me.
Very cute game! Love the mechanics, and I could imagine it being extended to other sorts of puzzles (like the typical pressing switches and so forth). Loved the ending too! :)
My only complaint is that not all dogs get bones! :(
Absolutely well done. Interesting mechanic and puzzles are the right flow. The platforming feels a little too twitchy but complements the puzzles. Nice pixel art and music.
Love the music! The graphics are really cool, the abstract background works so well with more concrete foreground. I love the way the dogs move too!, specially they sine wave type motion that appears when you stack high enough.
This isn't fair, you are very good at making a game, graphics, and music. The music is really good AND you still have the courtesy of offering a mute button. This is the spirit of humility that we should all strive for. What an excellent five star offering. Dogs dogs dogs

I enjoyed the game. Must admit that I'm more of a cat person than a dog person though :cat2: :heartbeat:. All parts of the game worked very well together. I did have some issues landing jumps and the jump kind of looked like it would be easy for a solo doggo to get over the bone but I never succeeded. Got to the second to last level and if there's one gripe I'd have with the design its that if I first spend some effort gathering enough dogs and then make a simple mistake so that my active dog gets the bone... then I have to start all over again. So level design, to make that feel fair seems very important.
Great entry as always though!

gotta catch em all! such a cute game, loved the gameplay, and the game is still running in the background because I loved the song. wish there was small and cute sound effects, it would make the experience even better. ^-^
I loved the design except of the platforms, it didn't feel like the colors harmonized that much. Overall it was a nice puzzle game :two_hearts:

Seriously though, awesome mechanic. Puzzles weren't frustrating at all and were very fun ( even if the tower of pups in the last one took a while lol ). Visuals are hella cute and so was the music. Cool usage of theme as well. Selecting which dog would jump of the tower was very cool as well. I don't really have any complaints tbh. Maybe using a mechanic in one level and then being told about in the next level seemed a little annoying but that's just a nitpick at best. This is an awesome entry, especially for compo. Great job on this

this is great! definitely a unique puzzle game mechanic, as far as ive seen. i think you explored a perfect amount of the idea in this game, it didn't drag on and also didn't feel unsatisfying. except for the last level, which may have been tedious if i did it the intended way. the only 'bug' i found was that you could inch your way under a ledge and because of how the stacking works, you'll be able to drag any number of dogs along as they repeatedly hit their head and fall, and i abused this during that level to bring them all under the ceiling at the same time. (actually looking at your playthrough video, it doesn't look that bad. i may have even made it harder on myself doing it this way haha)
but lovely game in any case! the art is cute and the music is nice. great job :)

Loved the mechanic to switch which pup you become on the double jump -- really clever!
I really liked it, I went to the end with good luck. The graphics and music are very nice. The dogs are very very cute. Interesting mechanics, I have not seen this before. But a couple of times the dogs got stuck in some kind of gap and I had to take them out one by one.
I could play this just for the music! Loved the art and the puzzles were great. My one wish is that if you accidentally jumped from the top of a stack and hit a bone that you'd regain control of the original stack (did that one too many times haha). Great entry!

Puzzles were neat but simple. I'm not sure if there were some additional mechanics that you could add to make the game longer. For a jam though, this was the perfect difficulty and length!

@zwodahs In an earlier version of the game you actually could jump multiple times in the air by continuing to split off, but it seemed like it was a bit too powerful, so I limited it to just one midair jump. But if you want to play around with it, I uploaded a special version of the game here: [jezzamon.com/dogsplusplus-jump](https://www.jezzamon.com/dogsplusplus-jump/index.html). (I made it start off at the playground level, but you can use "," or "." to switch between levels)

okay I can see why it is too powerful haha ... I think you made the right call for sure. The puzzle would be too hard to design if you have infinite jumps.

On Safari the dog tints are not working, so it's impossible to understand which dog we control (but who uses Safari anyway ;p). I love how the dog tower tilts :thumbsup:

This is an absolute joy to play! I decided to see it when I saw the winners, since the screenshot looked charming. You should seriously consider expanding this into a full game; the mechanic is really solid and you could probably make a few bucks off it if you wanted to. I'd definitely consider picking up a copy.
