The link says that I need a password to access the game.

roelosaurus 2021-10-03 22:50

Try again, should be fine now. Thanks for playing!

parker-nalch 2021-10-04 03:58

Really cool game, and I loved the background music. Got momentarily confused when the game didn't progress after my first shot, but figured it out quick enough. Well done!

nebiros 2021-10-04 14:57

Loved it ! Simple but very effective The colors and style you chose for the sprites are really nice too ! Great job !

almog 2021-10-04 20:59

Very nice game love the pixel art style, and it feels so good when you hit a 4 in this haha well done!

icedjam 2021-10-04 21:40

This is a really clever game. Simple but fun. The visual style is amazing, great job!

2021-10-04 22:42

Very cool, I liked the GUI layout. The concept was cool, and the fact that it didn't progress without a button press was good in my opinion, it allows time to think about your next move. it would be nice if you could specify that you need to press reset to advance the robots.

shellofagirl 2021-10-04 23:06

I <3 the art and colour choices.

roelosaurus 2021-10-05 04:34

@bougalu Yeah, I feel ya, should've add the "reset" in the tutorial. :(

nyles 2021-10-05 05:55

This game has a lot more depth than you'd think.

3mpty 2021-10-05 05:58

Really professional polished high quality game submitted for compo! I love the visual style and the whole game is solid from start to finish, my main gripe is gameplay is a little simple and repetitive, perhaps more enemy designs or a secondary player ability could spice it up but otherwise the main loop is a little repetitive.

Overall good submission and again I'm impressed at the overall quality for a compo!

the-vecter 2021-10-05 07:19

Really cool game! Simple but still fun. The sprites are great, the sound effects fit the game, and it fits the theme really well. I would love to see an update adding more features or enemies to the game!

dob 2021-10-05 07:21

Fun, simple game with very appealing graphics and presentation. The game is a little frustrating, but I imagine repeated plays to try to nab a high score could be entertaining and strategic. A nice take on the theme.

kutaryoushinkoku 2021-10-05 07:33

I love the idea, and i think the 2 power is the most useful XD

xhadie 2021-10-05 07:52

It feels reall cohesive and well put together! Loooove the art style and sounds! :D

bloodbane 2021-10-05 08:08

Unstable shooting is really annoying but fortunately, it's by player's choice. Nonetheless, it is fun and it's good that player can choose unstable power.

ogelgames 2021-10-05 08:10

Simple, polished, awesome. Nice work!

witekwitek 2021-10-05 08:32

• I like how there is a high risk-high reward factor when you want to use more power.

• It felt fun and satisfying shooting down the enemies.

• I liked the artstyle and the spooky music.

• The game looks polished.

• The theme fits alright.

• At first i was a little confused, but i managed to understand the game more after a second try.

• I don't really know what turning on the filter does, i can kinda see that it's brighter but not very much.

Overall, this game is great. -WitekWitek

salaen 2021-10-05 08:40

was nice killing the robots. Loved th style and the feeling.

hated the unstableness. :D

bruyere-alice 2021-10-05 08:42

Pretty neat ! Lovely graphics. Good job to the team !

roelosaurus 2021-10-05 08:51

@bruyere-alice Thanks. Was a 1 man team though. 💪😊

spawnie 2021-10-05 11:51

Amazing graphics and music. The idea is interesting but it gets really luck based after a while.

kaiomoi 2021-10-05 11:54

it's really clean, congratulations. The project is simple to understand and the pixel art works well. The theme is well exploited.

I would have liked that we do not need the rest button, I find that we lose fluidity.

Congratulations :)

heremeus 2021-10-05 13:33

What a nicely polished compo entry! Enjoyed playing it but luck was not on my side. That moment when there's 7 targets in range of the power 4 blast and you miss every single one of them  56 was my best run.

There's nothing I can suggest for improvements as this is entry is exceeding my expectations for a compo submission. Well done!

namnam 2021-10-05 14:19

I give you all my five stars, loved the take one the theme, I was a bit frustrated at first but when i understood the potential of changing power and hope for the best i was so in. Fantastic game ! Graohics and sound are just perfect, just the essential nothing more, really easy to understand and to read.

wakobu 2021-10-05 17:13

Great graphics but the game is tooo frustrating

melektaus 2021-10-06 17:27

Nice concept, very well implemented. Great job!

bridgefromtv 2021-10-06 20:19

Really adorable game! I love the highly polished style, very pretty and retro!

meansquarederror 2021-10-07 01:18

Great job making this. I like when there's a tradeoff (choosing between power and accuracy). It requires some strategy, and a willingness to take risks.

I tested/reviewed the game in a youtube video: https://youtu.be/AZmpys4Jzow

m1nus 2021-10-07 02:55

Oh, really nice game! Good choice of colors, well developed concept!

edevjogos 2021-10-07 06:14

Loved the aesthetic, really fun game, although the robots could go down automatically after i fire, but other than that great work!

vivianmochi 2021-10-08 04:46

Love the graphics! It's a very fitting aesthetic for the mood of the game! I feel like the randomness is a little bit too hard to plan around, but it's still super fun! I guess that's the point lol :P

2021-10-10 09:49

Nice graphics, fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 49 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/QOqT7v58gqA

This game looks incredible, and I love the core idea.

On some very high level of abstraction this is almost the same balance of decisions as racing: you can choose to go faster/use more power, but it's gonna be more dangerous. But in case of racing you can build up skill to learn to control the power so you can go fast *and* be precise while doing it, and that's what lets you win. I guess that is the feeling I was missing here: some more control so you can feel that your victories aren't pure luck and your losses aren't just unfair.

Maybe after setting the power there could be some simple minigame-type interaction that would determine how successful the next shot is going to be. It would be a metaphor for aiming with an unstable weapon. For example:

Power 1: You just pick a square and shoot, done. Power 2-4: You pick a square and see highlighted area of possible hits. A UI appears for precise aiming: a bar with a narrow green zone and a mark going quickly left and right, and you have to stop it in the green zone — kind of like a "default fishing mini-game" to determine the success of your shot based on how close you get. The closer you get, the more enemies in the zone will get hit (min = 0, max = power level). At power 2 it's easy and you win almost every time, but at power 4 it's so quick that you almost rely completely on luck, but not quite, because whatever the outcome of the minigame, it's still on you!

That's just one idea of how to achieve the feeling I was missing, no doubt there could be numerous other solutions. And, well, it's just an idea, not saying the current completely random shooting is necessarily worse. Just thinking aloud :)

Also, would be nice to maybe have an option to play with the keyboard: WASD + Q/E for setting power + Space to shoot would feel pretty nice imo. Mouse interactions make it a bit slow for my taste.

Sorry for the huge comment, this just shows you how much I liked what you made :) Your entry is awesome.

echo-gameworks 2021-10-10 21:18

Streamline, simple mechanic that was really satisfying. It almost felt like gambling - just wanted to try *one more time* on level 4 power haha. Awesome execution on graphics and sound. Great work!

euler-moises 2021-10-12 04:09

Interesting! It makes us reason in a different way. It's a shame that instability interferes a bit with our thinking and we depend a lot on luck, but I think that's the goal.

I loved pixel art and music! That's what I liked the most. Remember old arcade games.

Congratulations on the game and the incredible ability to do something so good in so little time and alone!

gdesecrate 2021-10-14 19:29

Thanks for the game!

zimny11 2021-10-14 22:07

Oh, nice music! And the art style looks awesome. The game mechanic are well done too. I think the game would benefit from a bit bigger board. Also, I think laser (on higher than 1 power level) hit squares on the same distance that targeted or further away, but never closer. I do not know if that was intended behavior, or maybe I was really unlucky? I got 65 kills. Great compo game!
