LD44 — Your life is currency

Slime, Blood and Pain by Steffo 2019-05-01T20:55:48Z

I think the control scheme was a bit odd, escape feels like an odd choice.

And I had to alt+F4 out of the game because I couldn't find another way to quit.

I liked the art, and the music was beautiful xD Sadly it stopped playing after a while :(

Grim Adventures by ursagames 2019-05-03T09:39:30Z

A really nice game. I enjoyed every second of it!

I struggled a bit since it was a bit hard to see if I the character was over the platform or not. One thing that's common in 3d platformers is a shadow projected straight down from the character onto the ground. This makes it much easier to judge the distance and makes platforming easier.

blob_shadow.png

I think something like this would have made the platforming bits feel much better.

It took me a long time and I lost thousands of souls before I finally figured out that there were more rooms upstairs in the house. I think it could be made a little bit more clear that there is an upstairs corridor you can walk down.

The controls are tight. I like the character, the movement is very smooth and satisfying.

I absolutely loved the boss fight!

Good job!

Coin-Op Kid by Strega 2019-05-04T22:20:18Z

Beautiful game, I love the implementation of the theme! The levels are well designed. The platforming is snappy and feels good.

Definitively one of my favorite games in this jam so far!

Liquify Bo! by GaryS 2019-05-04T18:13:06Z

Fun little game.

The won't load for me in Firefox, it gets stuck on the loading bar. It works in Chrome though.

I wish the camera would stay a while when you place a platform so you can see if you placed it correctly before having to do all the jumping to get there again.

Jukebox Panic! by Kaish 2019-05-01T21:39:13Z

Beautiful game, great concept!

The only thing that I noticed while playing was that I often accidentally sent random coins flying while moving the mouse accross the screen to pick up a new coin at the other side of the level.

I like the way the game feels, the weight of the coins feels really good. The difficulty curve is there. It feels polished. Good job!

if(life) by sundhar 2019-05-05T10:32:13Z

I liked the simplistic look of the graphics.

I didn't understand at first that I had to swipe in the tutorial.

I like the idea of controlling the bullets after you fire them, but I feel like the bullets disappear too quickly or are too fast to fully take advantage of it.

I feel like there is no impact when the bullets hit an enemy. Some screen shake or particles / lights can make a big difference.

The window on itch.io seems to be smaller than the unity player, so some elements of the screen are outside of the window. This can be fixed by editing your game on itch.io and scroll down to `Viewport dimensions` and set that to the same size as the unity player.

Blood Worm by Pedro Moreira 2019-04-30T15:55:14Z

I like it! The concept is simple but fun and challenging.

Sometimes it was hard to tell the difference between wall and ground though, making it a bit hard to know how much blood I needed to squirt out in order to clear the jump. Otherwise it was a fun game.

TREASURE ROOM by jutjuan 2019-05-01T15:20:48Z

The game started off feeling easy, but slowly became very hard. I only managed to get around 600 gold. I think the game could have benefited from having some sort of indicator for the current round progress. The mages' projectiles were also a bit too fast I think, they were very hard to avoid given the slow movement speed of the player.

But overall I think you did a great job!

Shooter on a Budget by Christopher Wong 2019-05-01T16:12:34Z

I had so much fun playing this. The only complaint I can think of is that the coin sound is too loud, aside from that I think the game is solid.

Good job!

Bloodcoin by Persegan 2019-05-01T20:41:37Z

I liked the art and the theme!

I feel like I got hit when I shouldn't have been hit. The collisions on the player/projectiles could probably use some tweaking.

The hold right to aim mechanic felt weird at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly.

In conclusion, a fun and challenging game. Good job!

Axed by Flamboozle 2019-04-30T18:37:38Z

I spent way to long playing this game, and I loved it!

I think the collision boxes on the axe robots could be a little more forgiving though, it was kinda hard to hit them from above once they reached the tree.

W.M.L.F by Webox 2020-10-07T20:35:46Z

Really nice art style. I found it hilarious that the horse and cows (or llamas?) are rocket powered! Movement and sound effects are really nice. I tried to catch as many as possible in one lasso. I think getting extra points for doing that would've made a really cool mechanic.

Loopomotive by JPiolho 2020-10-07T16:35:10Z

Very addicting, and a bit challenging too. I would have loved to have an emergency brake though, I caused way too many accidents :P

I love the art style! Good job!

Cyberail by TheZingThing 2020-10-06T13:37:14Z

A game with good puzzle mechanics and some interesting and challenging puzzles.

I would have liked to see some kind of indicator for which switch does what, as that was a little unclear at times.

The moving obstacles is probably my biggest complaint here, they didn't really add any challenge and only made me wait longer. It was particularly annoying, after spending a long time on a level, accidentally bumping into an obstacle and having to do the level all over again.

The music and graphics are great and fit really well together.

Overall a really fun experience. Good job!

Dungeon Break by radow 2020-10-07T21:50:50Z

I'm really impressed by the amount of content and levels in this game. The puzzles are satisfying and gives you a real sense of being clever once you find the solution.

The art is beautiful, and the music fits so well. The animated main menu is a really nice touch too!

The only real issues I had was the lack of feedback when teleporting, so I lost track of the mouse a couple of times. The perspective also sometimes makes it hard to see if a door/portal is open or not.

Other than that it's a solid puzzle game with a ton of content for a jam game!

Hell Glider by TheAxe316 2020-10-07T16:50:06Z

Really nice game with a lovely art style. I love how you made the walk agonizingly slow to force the player to use the grapple! I think the gliding mechanic could have been used a bit more, but the grapple mechanics alone makes for excellent gameplay.

Amazing work! Good job!

Get in the Loop! by toasteater 2020-10-07T12:59:10Z

A true masterpiece.

Inside the Planet by victor_reiner 2020-10-07T13:29:39Z

A challenging and fun little game!

I love the art style, but the spikes are a little hard to see because their color is so similar to the background. The death/reset animation is also a little too long, and makes dying feel more punishing than I think it should. It took me a while to understand how gravity works and at first it felt very random. But once I understood the rules of it I really enjoyed it!

Good job!

Altered Nexus by clemonades 2020-10-07T16:20:44Z

An enjoyable experience with some challenging puzzle platforming. The controls are tight and the amazing animations and sound effects makes Dwight feel alive and tangible.

Good job!

ORBIDRONE by bixarrio 2020-10-07T14:27:51Z

There's a lot of potential depth in this game which unfortunately is hidden behind a complicated UI which makes the game quite frustrating to play.

I would have liked to see something like a contextual menu pop up when you click one of the machines where you can reload/repair/upgrade/recycle it instead of having to go through a UI and find it in a list.

I liked that all the machines have different models when upgraded, that's a nice touch!

Passerby by HeylloPotato 2020-10-06T14:46:53Z

Really nice art style.

There are some major problems with collisions though. The platforms are smaller than their colliders, and the spikes kills the player from way too far away. Fixing this would make it so much better!

The atmosphere is really good, very surreal and fitting with the theme!

Eloi's Adventure by Convg 2020-10-06T18:46:23Z

I don't know if it's by design, but I ended up just spamming space and speed-running through the levels ;) Maybe a cooldown period for the shadow could force the player to be more careful?

A fun little experience nonetheless. Good job!

Stuck in a Day by Franci 2020-10-06T09:56:42Z

I made it to day 13!

The variation in the minigames was nice, it felt like something new each time. I couldn't figure out how to win the card swiping minigame though, I always failed that one :(

The sound effects were nice. I thought the sound effects when doing the dishes was really funny for some reason xD

The game fits the theme really well! Good job!

Recycling loop by ElectricStalin 2020-10-06T09:27:33Z

Interesting idea! The gameplay feels a bit stiff and slow, I think that adding a bit of accelleration and smoothing to the drone could fix that (both to the turning and movement). I would have liked to have a better idea of where the drone is located relative to the ground, such as a drop shadow. The lack of collision on buildings and trees makes the drone feel a bit disconnected from the world. Also, I stopped receiving plastic bottles after the first truck, so it was a very short experience. Otherwise a good job on completing the jam, the game fits the theme very well!

Loopy by Flying Basement Studios 2020-10-15T22:10:17Z

I see your interpretation of the theme is pretty similar to ours! The amount of levels in this is really impressive, good job!

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-07T17:38:27Z

The art is really nice, excellent use of squash & stretch to make the ball feel more organic. The platforming feels nice and snappy. I took me a while to figure out what to do, and I was confused by the prompt to press E on the big hexagon which didn't do anything the first time I saw it since I hadn't picked up any orb things.

All in all a pleasant little game. Good job!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Freg, Fregg, and Freggy: The Last Band by Honest Dan 2021-04-28T18:53:13Z

This is a really nice looking game! I'm impressed by the amount of content you managed to add in such short amount of time, and the art looks amazing! Great soundtrack as well!

I enjoyed the card mechanics, but I didn't really understand the point of the zone cards?

The game initially launched Steam VR and played through my VR-headset. This seems to be a common problem with games made with unreal, does the engine default to launching in VR-mode or something? For anyone experiencing that issue, the workaround is to launch the game with the `-nohmd` command line argument.

Sadly I couldn't finish the game because of the random crashing. The furthest I got was to lantern level 3, but I would have loved to continue playing to the end.

Technical issues aside, overall a great entry, well done!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T19:10:13Z

I really enjoyed that. Very peaceful.

The ending felt a little abrupt though.

Bumping into the whale near the beginning was oddly satisfying, haha.

Good job!

On a side note, it looks like you are missing a thumbnail for the game (unless the website is just acting up) you might want to consider adding one :)

Mine The Beat by GamesBySaul 2021-04-27T13:18:11Z

Really cool Crypt-of-the-necrodancer-like (is that a real genre?) I love how you put in the effort to add character customization as well!

As others have commented, the movement feel a little unresponsive. I think responsive controls is one of the most important things to get right in a rhythm game like this. The GDC session "The Best Animation Tricks of the Trade" from 2016 has a great section about responsive animation and anticipation that I highly recommend you checking out!

Other than that I think this is a solid entry. Cute graphics and amazing music (I ran around in a circle for a while just listening to the soundtrack :P)

OPEN SEA DEEP SPEAR FISHING DELUXE by WhyNot 2021-04-27T10:14:24Z

This is a great looking game! I had some trouble aiming the spear, maybe a crosshair or some kind of lock-on targeting would help? The tug-of-war "surfing" mechanic feels amazing! Really cool!

Topple Tower by Kroporo 2021-10-04T20:56:54Z

Such a calm and relaxing experience!
