Cool mood. I couldnt figure it out, where is the gold key :p Good job!

I also couldn't figure out what to do. I tried walking straight ahead, walking into the portal behind me, jumping over to the gated platform thing. No golden key :(

The audio and graphics are nice though :)

I'm curious who will be the first to escape the hall of Anubis mwahahah!!!

rakowu 2020-10-05 06:11

Hmm... i could but i guess thats not the right way xD.... I jumped over all teleporters ld.jpg

Really enjoy the game! It took me a while to figure out what should I do, but soon I realized that the door is not the thing I need to pay attention to. The sfx contributes a lot to the mood. It would be better if you could make a little bit more puzzles in that hall of Anubis!

I could not progress past the part where I needed a gold key. Nice look and feel though. Incidentally, I also made an Egypt-based first person platformer with a title like "[place] of [egyptian god]" for this jam, check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/temple-of-heh

Yes I managed to beat it!

The silver key and golden key are very hidden tho.

Very moody game. The controls feel good and after some searching you will find the secrets!

Dont give up too easyily everyone!

Like the others I sadly could not progress past the door where the key is needed. But other than that this is a cool entry. Also the lighting looks really awesome :) Good job

I like the visual design of this game a lot (especially with the sky visible at all times, giving the recursive rooms a pretty strange feeling when the sky loops back to where it was a second ago), and props to the incredible voice talents of "Gate Slowly Opening with a Loud Rumble" among a few others for a dramatic performance.

Jokes aside, I actually stumbled on the solution entirely by accident after falling. I just wonder if the signposting for the actual objective could have been a little bit clearer, since even while knowing what to do for the Gold Key area, I still had trouble finding where to go. A little extra brightness on the area in question might have helped; I would have added a Bronze Key that was hidden behind the Gold Cage, with a lower platform that was a little visible when looking down from the cage and a brighter wall behind it to catch the player's attention.

I also appreciated your little ending. I won't talk about it for spoiler reasons, but I liked it.

It was a nice take on the theme, the visual aesthetic was great, and I had fun trying to figure out what you had in store for me. Great work.

Atmospheric and fits the theme well.. I spent most of the time feeling lost. I couldn't find the golden key and I spent ages trying. Nice ambient sound. Well done :)

I admit it - I couldn't get past the Silver Key! Maybe I was missing the hints? In any case, really cool concept. The graphics and mood were fitting. Loved the mood. Great work!

Hi Patrick :) Pretty chuffed I managed to finish haha. The keys are really well hidden! The lighting distance is just far enough to spot the hidden areas. Felt a bit like playing heretic or duke 3d... ok, different music haha. I enjoyed it.

Nice short game jam experience. Thanks for sharing

Really nice game. Managed to finish it ! Really intersting way to hide things, congrats :)

Nice game, I didn't manage to find the gold key but it was still fun.

jk5000 2020-10-08 16:00

This is an okay little puzzle game. For me the solution feels a bit too random. But okay the visuals is pretty cool.

patrick-sweeney 2020-10-08 16:33

@jk5000 I assure you the solution is not random! Although I totally understand why it would feel that way haha

I was starting to think I was missing something until I found the gate to the gold key. Then I started to work out the loops and eventually finished. The jumping felt a little off, not sure if it was me pushing too late or if it wasn't registering when I pressed space. So glad you keep the keys when you fall. The lighting gave the feeling of being trapped and was just enough for the moment which needed a leap of faith. Fun game, it is really tempting to go back and see if it is possible to map out those halls.

Love this art style so much. really like the ambient darkness with the two doors being two beacons of light. I will agree with others the "solution" to the puzzle is not very obvious and kind of requires some trial and error of just hugging the walls that I dont necessarily fits with the style of the game. But I respect the choices you made and overall was a very nice complete experience. Congrats on finishing and I would like to see this art style pushed further because I enjoyed that the most!

muktada-creations 2020-10-09 08:09

Where is the damn GOLDEN KEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

patrick-sweeney 2020-10-10 01:56

@muktada-creations LOL! First you just need to find the silver key :)

gamescodedogs 2020-10-12 05:29

Mood is really great for such a small game. 5/5 for mood.
