LD52 — Harvest

Underworld Management by mactinite 2023-01-11T16:56:04Z

Art was excellent, loved the idea, but I quickly devolved into spamming wires everywhere and defending myself. Super charming game, as tildecat pointed out, would be nice if we could just drag to place things. Much love.

H. R. Vest by mvasko2 2023-01-11T16:40:06Z

Well, I was genuinely horrified, so... good job on that end. I have now developed a fear of all GMO grain products, RIP bread.

Anyway, music is nice and atmospheric, drawings were lovely, dialog is hella funny(as soon as I saw the line about gregs shoes in the red slush puddle I knew this was going to be good) it was pretty tough for me because I don't do well with horror but I enjoyed the experience nonetheless. Great work here.

Reaper of Souls by agentparsec 2023-01-22T17:34:27Z

This was really good! The music and sounds were top notch, the harvest sound felt like a crescendo to the persons life, which I loved. Having the people who are about to die start crawling away from the person they were fighting because I was there was pretty cool. I like the pace as slow as it is, it's quite relaxing. If you were to expand on this I'd love to see more scenarios of people interacting that could lead to someone dying, like following people's little stories and then waiting for them to pass. Lovely game.

Harvest Superhuman by V0odo0 2023-01-11T16:02:08Z

Love the concept, and the UI felt very nice for a jam game, excellent work on that. However, your game has taught me one lesson; no matter how great two people are at literally everything, they can always produce a -15 intelligence piece of garbage. I would recommend this to anyone who has a little *too* much faith in humanity. Great work!

Robert the Druid has Made a Terrible Mistake by Mohamed_DKD 2023-01-22T17:56:27Z

Loved the game. This Robert fellow is quite the character. He "accidentally" opened a portal to the dark world, and his brilliant solution is to use trees????? 1000IQ strats.

Okay but the game was good, took me a couple of deaths to get the hang of it, but after grasping those first few minutes it was a breeze. Great music and lovely art, can't wait to see what you guys do with this.

Cream of the Crop by Weirdybeardyman 2023-01-22T18:21:36Z

Very fun, controls were perfect and that sense of speed really hit as well as advertised. I feel like if you had levels that started very easy and slowly escalated it would help give a feeling of accomplishment. Also, this farmer is a goddamn genius, next time someone around me needs to harvest some fields, we're grabbing a cessna and a long blade. Great work here.

Grim Gardener by xfinktion 2023-01-22T17:17:10Z

Pretty good! I managed to just barely beat the thumb, but I had to yellow hat my way through the other two because they were a bit too hard for me. Loved the teleport mechanic, felt pretty damn good teleporting past waves of bullets on a mission to deliver some garden-variety pain to them. I'd almost forgot I was farming for a second there. Would love to see this concept expanded, like if the teleport were just a bit more plannable, but overall, excellent game. Much love :two_hearts:

Harvest of the Gods by jitspoe 2023-01-09T17:52:21Z

Art was pretty, kind of trippy but I guess that's what you get with AI huh?

Also that voice was pretty good.

Once I managed to grasp what the game is about it became mundane. I thought to myself, "Is that all there is?" But then I got to that second part, and I got absolutely destroyed. That first part is also a bit too long, and one soul escaping leading to death I found to be a bit punishing, I think I was fighting something and I killed a mortal by accident, and their soul just went up without me seeing it so I got a very sudden game over.

In terms of the experiment you mentioned in the description, if this was made with AI completely (including code) it's pretty successful.

We might be out of jobs soon

Harvest for a Murder by Zuwu 2023-01-10T21:07:17Z

I finally got the pun in the name after playing the game(Guess its not really a pun huh?). This is super fun, reminds me of death road to canada, with having to manage a team, keep morale high, have them well rested and still gather adequate resources. Lovely game. Music matches the vibe, sound effects were kinda loud even with volume down but I guess thats just how jam games be.

I will forever remember the crows that died under my leadership. Great work

Wheat Reaper by oleg20111511 2023-01-22T18:05:26Z

Very simple and relaxing game. Also you didn't fail miserably at making sounds, these were excellent for a first time. I love making sounds and I'm still terrible at it. Just gotta keep trying :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The dialog was pretty funny, the reaper being sucked into working by a farmer with a powerful personality. Excellent work :heartpulse:

Harvest Slave by Gotanod 2023-01-10T20:37:21Z

Game was super hard. I'm more impressed that you made this in C++ with Open GL in the time given, that is some legendary skills. I didn't quite understand what I was doing till I saw the silos, but I kinda got it from there. Oh and the enemies were brutal some red ball had me trapped and killed me while I was trying to jump over a ledge.

Other than that I liked the concept. I feel like if you had more time you could do something with this.

Farm On Wheels by Igor Minenko 2023-01-09T17:31:05Z

I liked the characters pixel art along with the van that had "FARM" written clearly on it(this farmer is a true business man). The idea of growing food while on the way to deliver said food to the customer sounds like one hell of a business plan (showing how high IQ the farmer is). The game was pretty simple. It didn't take me long to just buy the highest priced goods and sell them. I guess if there was variation in time of growth it would've helped make it deeper. But for a first time jam game you guys did pretty good. Great job and much love.

Dice Wheat Me by Joe Eric 2023-01-11T16:21:28Z

This game is great. I had really forgotten that I was supposed to rate this for a good half an hour. Also, I should go buy a lottery ticked because my rolls were insane. Lovely game, calming music, great art style you have it all. UI was a bit finnicky but working around it was a small price to pay to enjoy the game.

Also, feeling lucky mode should just be the default. Or maybe just the default for me

It is not time to harvest by Wolfraam1974 2023-01-10T20:58:41Z

Fell in love with the art, sounds were lovely too, but the controls were way too floaty and loose to control properly, would have loved the game if the controls were a bit more refined.

I'm well versed in Unity and I can tell you, you always wanna make your movement from scratch, dont use rigidbodies they're a trap. Also, if you are using a CharacterController component in the game, try applying movement as acceleration, add it to a vector that you clamp at a maximum speed(if need be) while you apply a force that constantly moves that velocity to zero(drag) this approach will create nice feeling movement almost instantly, with no rigidbody weirdness.

Anyway, pretty good game, much love.

Eon Reaper by Kelvin Mulungu 2023-01-11T15:30:11Z

@googlypoo well you can influence the direction of the wall jump with the movement. Should probably write that in the hints, thanks for playing

Eon Reaper by Kelvin Mulungu 2023-01-11T18:19:00Z

For the person who asked for tips on making DnB (can't @ anonymous), basically just keep it simple. My style of DnB (very liquid-y) feels good when the drums are the most dynamic part of a track and everything else leaves space for and serves them, I rarely use complex layered melodies for DnB they're always sparse and come in late into the track (like the guitar on this one) . Of course lots of reverb preferably on different FX channels as the output of their instrument for finer controls and that B in DnB has gotta hit hard. I didn't have time to master the track for this game but that's also important, compress and limit the heck out of it.

Eon Reaper by Kelvin Mulungu 2023-01-11T18:21:43Z

@maksim-chugunov Thank you for the feedback, since it was a compo game I didn't have a team who could test the controls with me so I just got so used to them while making. Thank you for the advice! This is honestly the first platformer I've ever made so I was just going off of memories of playing games like Momodora and Iconoclasts a from years back. :two_hearts:

You guys are gonna make me cry. I worked so hard on those shaders, I'm glad everyone likes them!

You Will Be Fertiliser. by PuttPuttTheTruck 2023-01-10T21:30:03Z

Excellent game. The polite advice from the pumpkin to stand on some farmland before it mutilated me got a good chuckle out of me, like "I'm gonna kill you, but at least lets make it easier for the next guy", this guy is CEO material. Controls were excellent and my deaths were always owed to my terrible multitasking abilities.

Loved the pixel art and style along with the unique take on the theme. Also thanks for the band idea name; "Blood will make the next harvest plentiful"
