Nice job! A good take on the theme. I wish the there was more dynamic to the game so the difficulty would change gradually. Currently once you get the idea of what to do it's pretty easy to keep on going endlessly. I gave up at around the score of 200.

Forgive me if I'm being stupid... what is the material I'm meant to be grabbing? I kill the enemies that appear, but then the bar times out and I die with a score of 15.

The "go back" button didn't work for me on the linux version.

It worked when I ran the windows version using Wine, but then I had horrible FPS and no sound.

@pavocado bassicly you were supposed to to grab material with e and then jump to the reactor and then press e again to deposit the material, you can see witch material is needed by seeing the bar

Okay, I like the concept. I think it has potential. Maybe it would be cool if the map was a bit bigger, the core bars were wider (so you would have more time) and some of the materials were dropped by the enemies. I feel it could even make a really cool base builder where you try to stabilise your core and then run around the map killing enemies for materials. But given the time frame for making this game, I like it as is. In the current state the game would benefit from better tutorial, tiny bit higher jump and a little more responsivness. My high score is 40.

Great! The idea is great and challenging, trying to check for two things at once is quite fun!

I may have wanted to display, somewhere maybe near the player, an icon or something to know we grabbed something (also E is a bad choice of key when A and D are used that much, not really ergonomic). Plus, sometimes the bars did not reach the far left side of their platform but I still got a gameover. It seemed a bit off.

Other than that, great work for the jam!

Nice work on making this game. It wasn't entirely clear what I needed to do, but the comments here helped. :-) I like the concept, but it probably needs some more work to be really fun to play. Which I would expect from a compo game, really. Great work on getting it finished in time.

On the first run it's really hard to find out what i am supposed to do. Graphics looks primitive. I expected something better from that title. Actually idea is pretty interestring.

devez 2021-10-05 20:47

I still don't understand what I'm supposed to grab even after reading the comments, E does nothing wherever I press it. Feels more like a puzzle game :D

skahd 2021-10-06 01:03

@devez so you go to a material (the water or the uranium) then press e, then go back to the reactor and then press e again and see the bar fill up

devez 2021-10-06 05:49

@shahd I see, definitely needed some kind of visual cue to tell when I'm holding something. Also E could just be right click because you have to press it so often it messes with your WASD movement. Good idea for a minigame overall.

diharaw94 2021-10-07 11:35

Hmm pressing E on the material (which I assume is the green object on the middle right?) doesn't seem to do anything.

skahd 2021-10-07 13:23

@diharaw94 it does, i haven't made it so that you can see it though

zapturk 2021-10-08 02:49

Cool art but couldn't figure out how to pick up the material.

erikkire 2021-10-11 19:35

Need some more instructions :)

plomeg 2021-10-13 19:52

I don't really understand how to play :( But the art is nice !

kirby 2021-10-14 13:42

Love it <3

echo-gameworks 2021-10-17 18:48

The movement was smooth and the art was cute, but I couldn't get the pickup to work for some reason.

crefossus 2021-10-21 00:44

If you are wondering how to play here is my take:

The two bars depleting in the middle are resources (water left, uranium right) that you cannot have too little or too much of. To increase the left/water bar push e while over the tank in the top left (blue bar above it) of the screen then push e again while you are over the reactor in the middle. Do the same with the right bar but push e while over the green sprite on the top right.

I liked balancing the resources although it gets repetitive quickly. As you know it needs more feedback for interaction and pickup. When you get to a critical state it could create mood to have some lighting/sfx/ etc or even a blinking sprite for the reactor. Overall good use of the theme and not bad game design to start with although the pacing is a little too much the same.

Maybe the reactor becomes stable for a period of time and then something else happens. Or maybe you might need one resource more than another for some reason so you don't take the same pattern over and over.
