Awesome game. I loved the puzzle mechanics with having to time your digs against enemy movements. Really excellent job with the graphics & audio as well!
This is really great. One of my favorites so far! I love the charge mechanic and also how the enemies only move when you do. It really adds a strategic element to everything. My biggest complaint: I can barely read my score with yellow on gray :) Nice work!
D'awww, I love that face he makes when he digs down. So derpy and squishy! Lots of good player feedback in this one to make digging feel fun. Nice job!
This was great. I really like the art style and the game-play felt juicy.
This could make really nice rhythm game. Soundtrack was great. Fun and relaxing game to play, nice work!
Nice music and graphics. It's a nice feeling when I figure out the best path to get a gem. Fun game.
Nice polish and a clean presentation. Music was unobtrusive and fitting. I thought that the sound effects would get annoying and repetitive, but they didn't, so nice choices there.
I think the addition of the dash mechanic was very cool and gave some much needed variety to the process. I also really liked the strategy of manipulating the enemies movements with your actions to make a safe path.
I agree with @sapazu that this would make a nice rhythm game. Like Crypt of the Necrodancer only with mining.
Cool mining game with good graphics and music. Those particles and sound effect make digging feel very satisfying!
Nice game, reminds me of Emerald Mine on Amiga :) Smooth and aesthetical, great job!
Very polished game. I am impressed that it is a compo entry. You thought about everything: sounds, some music, tutorial, some particle effects etc. Cant find any flaws. Maybe the theme usage is a bit common but it is one of the best mining game out there for sure
Short and sweet. I like it.
Very round game, cool pixel art and nice gameplay. Good job!
Its a very clean game, good pixel art, good game feel, good sound. Great all rounder, good job!
Man, I love this - perfect job on audio!.
The animations are a little long and make it hard to avoid some enemies, but other than that it's very good!
Fun little game with a crisp polish. Enjoyed the thoughtful puzzler elements based in simple mechanics.
Oh wow, I didn't expect your game to have such a similar name, haha
Very amusing game! Funny graphics, great music, and enjoyable puzzles. Very well done :)
Good animation and overall mood.
Wow that looks great! I really love simplicity and nice looks of it. Very well done!
Very nice! Lots of potential here to expand on too! Like a super dig power up, or something to kill bugs! I love the squishiness to the character, and the puzzle-ly-ness of the level design. Very good job, congratz!
Wow, nice job! What tools did you use?
A great combination of satisfying animations, nice art style and solid sound effects. Finally a miner capable of mining the block above as well. Well done!
@ludumdaredevil Thanks! The game is running in my own custom engine using the MonoGame framework. Sprites are made with Aseprite, music is made with Beep Box, and SFX are made with BFXR.
Wow, this is an absolutely fantastic puzzle-platformer! Great art and animation, clever use of movement/traversal mechanics to solve puzzles, just great work all around.
This is a lot of fun! Really impressed with how solid the game loop is once you get going!
I personally like how you teach the player the controls and mechanics of the character through the dirt, that's pretty clever.
This game has great simple mechanics, like holding to make a big dig to the side, love it :D
Very efficient and clear game, good ideas and good execution. The only problem is not enough levels. One of the best i've seen !
Cute game! I included it in my compilation video series of a bunch of LDJAM games! https://youtu.be/rCfIoJGG3mQ
@jordan-benureau Thanks for playing! You're definitely right that the game needs more levels. I wanted to add at least 2 more, but ran out of time before the deadline. Oh well, maybe I'll do a post-jam version...
Awesome game! I had lots of fun playing it. Everything seems very well polished.
this was a really enjoyable game, i like all the little bits of polish that was put into it.
Really awesome little game with great 8bit music and pixel art. I love the dash mechanic, it added a lot to the puzzle. Great animations and level design altogether, this was really fun to play!
Each level getting its bit of fresh air with one new mechanics, that felt super fun! :v: Loved the graphics/audio mix! Managed to collect most of the things but 6140 is definitely not the highest score  Congratulations on the game!
Wow! I am amazed! This is looking very nice and the controls with the animation work very well. The song is good too. I finished all the 3 levels, but after dying a few times on the second level I stopped trying to collect all the gems. I liked the addition that you could mine the tile above you. I hoped you could kill the bug with a charged attack, but alas that did not work. It would've made the game maybe much easier and not more enjoyable. Well Done!
@retro-banana-man-nl Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, you can't collect all the gems in that last section of level 2 (I think the max you can get is 4), but all the other gems are collectable. If I do a post-jam version, I think I'll change the design so that you can always collect all of the gems.
This is a really nice quite polished compo entry ! Well done !
Managed to beat all levels!
Pros:
- NES nostalgia visual/audio-wise - Funky sounds - Game-feel - Levels properly scoped (not too long)\ - Funny main-character animations
Cons:
- Very short in terms of levels quantity - Only 1 extra mechanic apart from movement - A bit too less contrasty level / score font against the background. Very hard to see. - I think you spend a lot of time on the protagonist and less on the actual environment, like enemies (are those enemies a lightbulbs with legs? )
Overall:
Very simple mechanic and polished entry towards Compo. Definitely a good job!
Your game is a small gem :) I would like to see more like this. It is solid, looks great, feels right and delivers fun. I think it will look great on mobile with their swipes. (And I think you know that, as orientation of the game is portrait.) My only issue was that some gems are impossible to pick. Also, the gameplay maybe is a little bit repetitive, but I didn't feel that as the game is fairly short.
@dmitry-mozgin I'm glad you enjoyed it! The clarify, the only time you can't get all of the gems is at the very end of level 2, where you can only collect a maximum of 4/7 of them before the enemy forces you to run away. Other than that, all of the gems are collectable.
Wow this is just amazing!!!
Smart and significant decisions. I loved to that I can charge horizontal digging, save me time and makes it more dinamic. Reminded me of an evolved Dig Dug. I would enjoy to add some decision making or having the top drop after an amount of time so I have to keep up a pace.
Still awesome bite size experience.
Awesome game! It's super polished and I love the animations!
a fun little action puzzler! love the main character animations. I didn't expect the levels to be as handcrafted and puzzle-y as they were, but that wasn't a bad thing; I enjoyed it. It took me a bit to realize the bugs were turn-based, not time-based. that diamond at the end of level 2 is so mean haha.
nice job!
Sweet game, had fun. Got to the end but probably not a great score 3980. Not much to say, it a nice fun little idea that fits the theme nicely and is executed well. Art is cute, chippy sound track is nice and fits well. Only criticism is its pretty short and would have been nice to see further mechanics introduced enemies with new patterns other hazards to negotiate etc. etc. but for 48hrs solo you really can't expect too much content so great job really.
I like the Retro art style and music. the desires in the later levels to collect all the jems while avoiding the enemies and obstacles was fun. I noticed that some of the enemies can float in mid air if you delete the tile underneath them. happened to me a few times.
@masterkrepta Thanks for the feedback. The enemies in the game are supposed to float, that is intentional. Enemies that fall are a lot harder to deal with, since they can follow you down holes. I plan on adding enemies that fall in a later level for a post-jam version.
great art and super nice music, it definitely fits the kind of game. I found the gameplay very intuitive and easy to get along with and even though it looks simple at first sight, it takes some skills to master it. Very well done! It's very polished, given the amount of time! Great job!
Great art, sound, and polish! Really liked the mechanic of the powerup move - makes it a much more unique game. Awesome work!
Great game! I had a lot of fun playing it. I just wish there were more levels and puzzles, but I understand there are is just so much you can do in such a short time.
Also, I see Mario has changed his job from a plumber to a miner :P
Wow, this was a bit like my game but a puzzler instead. A really liked some of the cool challenges and puzzles you came up with, and i felt like almost every gem was possible to get in some way or another. Great job!
Now that's what I call good scoping. Nice visuals, great polish, fitting bgm and sfx and really good level design! Clearly one of the better games I've played this LD. I'd have loved this to be procedural!
If I really want to push the button and find some criticism, I'd say the mining animation is a bit slow (increases frustration when dying and retrying) and could have benefitted from a toggle to speed it up, the game concept is a bit generic and it is itself maybe a bit too simple and short? It was so nice it left me somewhat disappointed there wasn't more. I really had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to come up with these nitpicks
Really great entry, congrats!
Very neat! The graphics and effects were excellent. The levels were large enough that I felt somewhat disincentivized from fully trying to solve the puzzles present in them; I feel that shorter levels with less space between the puzzley parts could work better. Still, it was good fun!
