LD38 — A Small World

Beware The Idiots by Gris 2020-10-07T21:08:00Z

Nice little time killer! I really like the menu where you can test all mechanics. It is very effective and I guess clever. The remark about assholes is good one it feels quirky, personal and funny. I also like how you combine the setting and mechanics it feels natural and fits well. May be the theme of a game jam is not fully developed, but overall very solid gameplay experience I had. Nice done!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Cursed Fight by Kylene 2020-10-07T21:24:48Z

I had difficulties in playing this game. Gameplay is very familiar, but is not challenging at all. Because when I press a button to kill someone, they are killed immediately. I like the idea of skills but it looks like they are not working at all, but only costs your health. Speaking of health, you can't find a way to increase it and it is weird. And I can't figure if the game is beatable. Overall, I think the game could be more enjoyable for me if there is was less these issues.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Looper by jk5000 2020-10-06T12:32:29Z

I like the aesthetic of the game. It feels like simple arcade and it is. I only have one suggestion that you can try to experiment with 2d. Because if you look at two curves in 3d angles of view are different. In 2d, they are will be the same and it will be easier for the player. Nice little time killer, well done! Plus you have a good taste for software. :)

Beet Roots by cogcomp 2020-10-12T13:28:46Z

Hi, there! :) I've completed your game and it has very good imperssion on me. I have to say that it is very creative use of the theme I've seen on this jam. Everything is looping.

The game is not polished I know, but it is not so important. I'll just list all issues I've found. Animations in the start screen are very quick. There is no pause or pause menu. The controls of camera are very stiff and sometimes unresponssive (I would increase their speed a bit.). The camera is not centered on the character then he dies. Music is too harsh for me, but fits visuals well.

I also impressed how many mechanics you've added into the game for a combo entry. Though levels are simple, but designed good. Great entry!

Roll your Dough by ancient-pixel 2020-10-07T21:46:11Z

Oh. It is difficult for me to judge this game. I like the execution of the game and what you've used phaser.js. (It is not Unity after all. I've used Unity, btw, and I like when someone are having courage to do all from scratch). I like the graphics, they definitely reminds me Papers, Please as you've mentioned in the description. I like the gameplay, but only when you do it first time after that it is too repetitive. But I don't like to read much, it is definitely not what I like in games and feels boring for me. But nevertheless you did a great job of making the game. I like how all fits well and working as a whole. And I like that you've created the game that allows to experience something new.

Loop Cultist by udo 2020-10-06T12:04:28Z

Overall, I like the visuals and audio though I'm not a fan of cultist theme. I think you did a great job on them.

I like the concept. It feels unique and fresh. But I didn't figure out what to do after I'd climbed up to the top of the tower. Then I went straight to the bottom of it, but didn't found anything there either.

Thank you for picking unique mechanics and for the new (though small) experience!

John & Terry by cleitoneldorn 2020-10-08T06:01:21Z

I want to say - what is a clever or sometimes creative idea. I like that you're chasing the mouse for eternity. It feels symbolic. But a gamer inside of me doesn't like that he can't beat the game. It is just unfair and feels wrong. I also like the splash screen it prepared me well for the game and set the mood. The music though is very harsh and you should definitely work on it better. Overall, the game gave me interesting thoughts of the life in general! Nice done!

John & Terry by cleitoneldorn 2020-10-09T07:51:22Z

@cleitoneldorn ohh, I see. I guess I just gave up too quickly. And I have a sound issue in my game too, so you're not alone. :)

On the Phone (2020) by Linus Lindberg 2020-10-07T19:25:34Z

It is not a game much, but rather an interactive experience. I always like then someone picks such concepts because I will be able see them in life. Thank you for choosing this theme of the game (social interaction via a phone) and finished the game. I was thinking of the similar one when I was coming one with an idea for my game, but discarded it for some reason. Overall, I like the visuals they make the right mood and not too personal. Good job!

Multiverse Suicide by roy 2020-10-09T19:58:09Z

Hi! I really like the idea. I like when someone try to experiment with something new and unique. Though I have difficulties in playing and only managed to pass to 4th level and then gave up. Sometimes the character stucks in blocks, but it is not deal breaker because the game as a whole works fine. I also didn't figure out what to do in my first playthorugh. Only after I'd read comments I decided to give the game a second playthrough. Overall, I liked the experience and time playing. Nice job!

Loop Run by Iron Leonem 2020-10-09T08:51:04Z

Hi, there! :) I've managed to complete 2 levels and I decided I won't stay longer and closed the game. It is too unforgiving. I like that the concept of your game is somehow close to mine, but you managed to add much more clever puzzles and it is very inspiring to me! I like level design very much, but the gameplay with restarting on slightest error is very unforgiving, as I've already mentioned. The setting is interesting, thought very basic.

I also thought that it could be nice if you could restart the game on R button, but it is not a big deal as you can kill yourself easily and restart it.

Anyway, congratulations on your first Unity project! You're game is challenging for me, but has some interesting use of mechanics.

Hyperloop hell by Aterlamia 2020-10-08T14:13:12Z

I would like to like the game, but I've difficulties in playing it. First of all, I'm not a native English speaker and it was difficult for me to read text with that font. Sometimes blue text is hard to read, but this is manageable. The dialog between hijackers is too fast for me (I think it could be better if it could be set on pause.) Music is nice, but I think it is not fit actions what are happening in the game. The option to move fast is really helpful.

More over I've stuck and controls stopped working. I've attached the screenshot with a place where I stuck.

On the other side, it is a combo entry, I like quests and you've managed to build a story driven game in such short time. It is very hard to nailed it at first time, so the game needs more love definitely. Thank you that you dared to make such game! ld47 (DEBUG) 2020-10-08 16.54.25.png

Are We There Yet? by JudgeZedd 2020-10-07T20:07:29Z

What a great entry! I like everything about this game. I know that a lot in it are silly, but that is the point. The humor is not too sharp though it gave me slight smile. I like the visuals they are make the game totally unique. The music is good though, but it is not in my taste. More over you did a great job on making looping more meaningful when added different dialogs. A lot of games make looping mechanics repetitive the dialogs helps to overcame this. I didn't finished the game though because I stucked when moved on the wrong road (you can see it in the attached screenshot). I hope you'll continue you gamedev journey! Image 2020-10-07 22.56.19.png

Routine by Lawrence 2020-10-08T06:24:37Z

I like the art it is just simple, but yet makes the game unique and distinguishable. Animations are well done made. Good job on them! The gameplay is repetitive though , but you already know this. I liked that I managed to lose the game because I thought I can't. Overall, I can't say that the game feels like a video game it feels more like an interactive experience though it has some stats of the character to manage. Nice done!

Kill the Player by c1tr00z 2020-10-08T14:52:23Z

Kill the Player by c1tr00z 2020-10-08T15:14:49Z

Snek by Nyunesu 2020-10-12T14:07:37Z

I was just passing by and decided to play your game. It has very good imperssion on me. The game feels right and delivers calm, enjoyable experrience. I haven't found any big issues the game just works fine. The autmosphere is good. The puzzles are not too difficult, but it was hard for me to figure out upfront how to solve them, so I was tinkering with movements alot. I liked that the game has variety mechanics, not just one. I liked the time playing. Good job!

Snek by Nyunesu 2020-10-12T19:02:47Z

You may also want to check this game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/ouroboros it has very similar idea

Chronic Curse by Diego Escalante 2020-10-05T11:40:45Z

Great entry! I like it very much. The soundtrack is nice and makes the right upbeat mood. The visuals are enough to convey the character, setting and suits the genre well. Gameplay is very clear. The loop mechanic is interesting though, but lacks somethings, maybe depth, but is okay to make a game without depth in a game jam.

Moreover you don't need to make a checkpoint system with this mechanic! :)

Ring Rush by blotosaur 2020-10-05T10:25:27Z

Overall I very like the idea and mechanics. I like the gameplay. It is even addictive for some degree, but I'd stuck at 4th level and it is very difficult. Feels like it can be passed only by cheer luck. So, I dropped the game on this level.

Copy by mauricioscherer 2020-10-08T11:14:38Z

The game disappointed me. I prepared to solve some puzzles, but the only puzzle I met is choose a correct button. If you don't choose the right one you moved back to the beginning and it is very annoying. It feels as disrespect to players' time and effort. For the record, I managed to get to the 3rd level and met the same choice the right button puzzles, so I decided to stop my suffering.

But the game met me well. I liked the visuals, though they are too dull, but uniqueness is there. My advice, play with bloom settings for me it was too bright.

But I want to say that I value your effort. You've made a third person puzzle game and it is already a great job.

Copy by mauricioscherer 2020-10-08T17:28:28Z

@mauricioscherer I'm sorry if you take my words too personally. I get it. It is a memory game. I guess I've written negative feedback because I was expecting something else than that. Nevertheless, I tried to write my first impression as I preserved them, so you can understand my point of view. I think it will help understand your players more, but if you think I just don't get it. It could be so then ignore my feedback. It is not relevant.

Stucker by Animaster 2020-10-15T18:25:12Z

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-08T08:38:31Z

Hi, there! :) I've finished the game and it is a great platformer experience! At first, I thought it would be rough and dirty as I looked at screenshot (the visuals are too basic), but the gameplay is very solid and good. I enjoyed playing it.

I feel frustrated from some time to time, but levels are fair. Some levels are very creative. I've attached a screenshot of a level I like the most.

At the beginning I thought it would be good to have an indicator of a current level, but you've added dialogs and it is brilliant as they give you a sense of progression.

I played with a gamepad and it works just fine, but I don't know how the game feels with a keyboard.

The physics of movements is true to genre. Custom and feels responsive. It has some vibe of Celest as you wanted.

I really like that you've added checkpoints I felt granted when I used them.

Overall, I think the game has very good level design and physics just works right. Well done! Image 2020-10-08 11.21.56.png

Tower Lord: Sword Loop Saga by hexkritor 2020-10-19T12:44:32Z

Tower Lord: Sword Loop Saga by hexkritor 2020-10-21T16:25:33Z

Raccoon in a Loop by theufo 2020-10-13T12:08:04Z

Tank Fall by PetTurtle 2020-10-08T12:08:39Z

Wov. The execution of the game feels very good. I like a lot about it. Visuals are nice and merge well with the gameplay. The music somehow makes right mood (upbeat), but I think it could be improved further otherwise I would like to turn the music off. The gameplay is really fun, but sometimes it is very difficult or luck based (I don't what better fits). I also impressed that you've made difficulty levels, a leaderboard, different maps and it is all in a combo entry. It is amazing! I've only one complain that the gameplay become repetitive very quickly and also you may easily fall into a hole. I guess you had a ton of fun of making the game.

Altered Nexus by clemonades 2020-10-05T15:37:11Z

I like the execution of the game. The execution feels solid, versatile and looks like a quality platformer template for a game if you want to develop it further. But it lacks something. I think it lacks more live to it. It feels a little bit repetitive from time to time. Nice game!

Plane Loop by TORT60091 2020-10-05T01:35:47Z

It feels unique and experimental. Also, fits the theme nicely. I only struggled with that the player's goal is not obvious.

Spiiin by Temulgeh 2020-10-04T23:45:19Z

> there are only a few levels

You're right the game is only lacking more levels.

Looper by Play-Pause-Games 2020-10-04T23:37:46Z

I like the graphics, but I don't understand why do you need guns if you can't destroy anything.

Looper by Play-Pause-Games 2020-10-04T23:56:17Z

@play-pause-games you're right. I've just watched the video on the itch.io page and there are enemies, but I didn't encounter them at my playthrough.

Looper by Play-Pause-Games 2020-10-05T00:11:35Z

@play-pause-games I redownloaded the archive, started a new game, and the enemies appeared. I should try to play once more then

Pogo Knight by TheWinrawr 2020-10-08T05:33:30Z

Hi there! :) I can't pass by and not to say that the software you use is a great choice! I've played the game and I’ll try to write down what I’ve found.

The music is good. It fits well, pleasant and loops well.

I think that what you have added a tutorial is a very good thing. It feels a little bit lengthy, but it prepared me well and calmed me down a bit.

Concerning about the gameplay, you know that this mechanic in Hollow Knight is one of most difficult? I just want to say that you’re maybe aiming for hardcore players.

The game plays well and smooth. I like it! I also like how ghosts look (I feel their struggles). The pixel art is simple yet works just fine, the game looks unique.

I have one suggestion that you may want to add a restart button when you lose the game, no need to move back to the main menu.

And from time to time when I strike the ground to jump up I feel like I hit it right, but I missed. Maybe some collision issue or I didn’t practice well I don’t know.

Overall, great entry. Well done!

It Is A Loop by Aarimous 2020-10-05T01:17:57Z

I've one complain to share. If you're using a keyboard and you died, the restart button appears and I should switch from the keyboard to the mouse. I think adding another keyboard shortcut for these cases will be a plus. I like the shader though.

Zombies Come and Come by FroggiMarc 2020-10-08T18:29:12Z

Hi, there! I managed to collect 100 people and I decided to stop the game. I like that you decided to make such a game. It gave me nice unique experience. It was interesting to try it. And I like when someone make experimental games. It lacks details but as it is a combo entry it is more than enough the level of details to convey the idea. Concept is cool. (Btw, I crashed at first playthrough.)

League of Ultranormal Detectives by Ghuyajil 2020-10-15T11:01:33Z

May be for a team of 3 people it is not a big deal, but for one man it feels as a very strong entry. The game is not very polished or detailed and I think it was impossible to push the game further. I really like the music it is pleasurable. The voiceover works fine and glues everything together. (I mean that with the voiceover I understood what is happening in the game.) The models and environment are well fit the atmosphere and setting. I’ve only one complain that after some time it became boring to do the same activity over and over, but it’s mostly attribute of the theme of the jam. I also like that the game gives nice exploration experience. Well done!

LittleIC by Amin_JK000 2020-10-07T19:12:37Z

In the first playthrough, I finished the game when I throwed just one key into the socket. After that I was transferred to the main menu. It felt like the finishing of the game, but it looks like it was just a tutorial. I played a bit after that, but the gameplay felt a little bit repetitive, so I closed the game. The visuals also too bright for me and the music feels repetitive.

Ohh.. I know that the game is not polished, but it is a third-person action-puzzle game after all. Very simple, but never the less. Good job!

Too Many Circles by CookieNoir 2020-10-13T12:12:43Z

Very interesting and unique mechanic I haven’t seen like this before. The game is relaxing and I enjoyed the time playing. I've only one complain that is too short. Great entry!

The Dark Cold Forest by masonmasonoff 2020-10-13T21:16:22Z

Escape Velokitty by JimMakesGames 2020-10-08T09:39:09Z

I can't say much about the game because I haven't got feel of it. I don't understand what I had done right or wrong it is very very difficult to figure out. But I like the setting, the idea of rescuing a cat in space and mechanics. I always like when someone experiments with something strange and weird. This game has such vibes. Thank you for pursuing this idea and have made the game out of it!

the sisyphean man by Anomay 2020-10-05T13:31:55Z

I really like the theme of the game - money. When I was brainstormed for an idea of my entry, I had many times recalled money. Besides the theme, the gameplay feels unique and new. For me it was a bit of overwhelmed, so I didn't finish the whole game, but I take a glimpse of it and I like it. Good creative thinking!

proceed by anchorlight 2020-10-07T18:51:27Z

Great visuals and I like the atmosphere. But I'd rough times playing it. It was very difficult to control the ball, but after some time I'd managed to jump other the abyss (with the red block). I was continuing jumping, but there was no change in the level after that, so I decided to quit the game. Overall, I like that you've managed to build the game that gives unique experience and has some vibe in it. I also like the rest section you won't meet such section in the commercial games, so it is unique experience too.

Get To The Roof by sop the turtle 2020-10-06T13:07:36Z

I know that the game looks silly but I really like that you've made it and I played and finished it. Don't get me wrong, the silliness, simplicity and game situations are what I like about the game. All feel cohesive and absurd. Well done!

Get Over Yourself by SpawnCampGames 2020-10-13T13:01:10Z

I like the concept very much it is very interesting. The game experience is fresh and unique I think it because the game is in 3d and I've already seen many games in 2d with same (record player's moves) concept. The execution of the game is good the game runs smooth and without any troubles or I haven't seen them. I only managed to complete the tutorial and it took me good amount of time. I think it is the main problem of the game that to complete a level you should make many tries and spend decent amount of time to think that through. (I also wanted to mention that the green line in the tutorial helped a lot at the beginning. ) Other than that I liked the experience and I think game jams is good for that they have games like this.

Employee 2G1L by Leora 2020-10-13T13:58:15Z

Oh.. after some tinkering with controls I finally managed to fill full scientific contribution and capsule state. After that a new day began and I faced with that I should do the same operations and the same routine. It was boring, but I continued to do so and managed to fill all bars for 5 days in row, but I don't know if got closer to the ending. After that I decided to quit the game. The concept is good and I like somehow setting, but I didn't figure out how to get to the ending. (I also think that idea with the manual is good also)

Catch the Higgs boson by Obi One 2020-10-08T15:38:50Z

Hi, there! Nice entry! Overall, the execution is very basic, but the idea is fresh to me. I like the concept behind the game (finding Higgs boson) and the main mechanics looks somehow experimental. But on the other side the I didn't use the green circles in the center of the field and I think the game is unbalanced. So, if you want you may develop and improve the game further.

Spinning Around by Dmitry Mozgin 2020-10-05T00:55:54Z

@untitled-studios I opted out from the audio category because the sounds are just placeholders, but even then they are helping to inform a player about events in the game, so I’ve left them. And thank you for playing! Btw, your game is great. I like the overall execution and that you’ve used GameMaker.

Spinning Around by Dmitry Mozgin 2020-10-05T05:58:04Z

Thank you for playing my game!

@blotosaur You’re right, playing with a gamepad is much smoother though I playtested it with a keyboard.

@doomerismo I was experimenting with different set of mechanics for different orbits to find what is fun in the game. That is why the mechanics are slightly changing throughout the game and at the last levels the player can move further the gem. I thought it could be interesting to give a player more choice, but it sometimes is confusing.

@diego-escalante The level with a lot of spikes is my favourite because even though I know how to finish it I always struggle with it. That is why it gives me strong emotions. I thought other players may like that too.

Concerning motion sickness you’re right, I had this thought too! Too many circle motions, is it bad or not? It seems work fine for now.

@sop-the-turtle thank you for playing! I wish I knew when I had come out with the idea of the game that players will get dizziness when playing. But I'm glad that I've participated in a game jam. Now I know how valuable playtests and players feedback.

Spinning Around by Dmitry Mozgin 2020-10-08T05:00:43Z

@thewinrawr Thank you for your detailed feedback it is very valuable to me! I hadn’t much playtests during development and only near to the end of the jam I realised that spikes are the most fun in the game, so I decided to make more levels with them and make the last one memorable. I know that some players might find it difficult, but some might like, so I tried to please both. If someone struggles to beat the last level is not a big deal because you can quit the game and have already complete taste of the game. Again, thank you for playing I’il try to check your game next and say what I think.

@eduardo-yukio thank for your feedback! You've just described the situation I observed when I watched how my mom played the game. For some people the game is easy, but some people trying to project themself on a spaceship and they don't understand how to play. It looks like it is your case and I understand your concern. The game could be more intuitive. Thank you for playing and I'll try to check you game next! (I like to check people who commented on my game first it feels fair)

Spinning Around by Dmitry Mozgin 2020-10-08T14:39:12Z

@obi-one thank you for playing! There is a challenging level at the end of the game, so it is not completely chilling because I wanted to please also hardcore gamers. I'll try to play your game soon too!

@iron-leonem Thank you for you honest feedback!

When I followed the idea of the game I didn’t know that it could cause so much real dizziness to players. I’m feel very bad that it hurts the experience. It’s definitely my mistake that I didn’t realize the problem soon. I've just added a little warning note to the description of the game.

Concerning sounds, you’re right I thought if I opted out from audio category it will work (and players will turn off speakers if they don't like sounds), but now I see how this thought is silly.

I’m glad that you played the game and found something that you like. I’ll try your game too and say my thoughts!

I'm stuck in a pool by TheBugger 2020-10-07T19:42:42Z

Too nervous game as for me, even if you said in the description that it is relaxing. I tried one level, completed it and didn't try more.

Sorry to say it, but the music is annoying, so I turned my speakers off. I think you should know that.

I like the visuals. They are simple yet works just fine.

Overall, I like the first impression of the game it feels somehow experimental if I may say so. Nice entry!

I'm stuck in a pool by TheBugger 2020-10-07T20:27:33Z

@thebugger I know that what I've said may sounds harsh, but I just want to give you my point of you, honest one, because I stumbled upon your game and played it. I know that the 3d is much difficult and you made it solo. That is already is a big deal. Not everyone can do it! I hope you gained a lot making it and continue your gamedev journey.

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-09T09:39:33Z

I like pixel art and music they fit well together. The visual and music are very good quality for combo games it is definitely the strong side of the game. I like levels, but they all look the same. I mean literally it is very hard to distinguish them, but objects on a level are different. If I got it right, then the game has only four levels and that is a few content. I think this is the main weak point of the game. Overall, very well made combo game!

Monster Trapped by Terabyte 2020-10-05T16:29:13Z

You're on the right track. The game is just only small, but is already with nice graphics and sound. You may want to experiment with mechanics or to add more content. Keep going and having fun!

Time Princess by doomerismo 2020-10-05T10:47:51Z

I like the feeling of the game. It feels like you're constantly in doing of something, like busy in fights. The pixel art is very simple, but makes the mood. I only don't like the grinding part of the game.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

MineWell by superpokeunicorn 2021-04-30T21:10:54Z

Your game is a small gem :) I would like to see more like this. It is solid, looks great, feels right and delivers fun. I think it will look great on mobile with their swipes. (And I think you know that, as orientation of the game is portrait.) My only issue was that some gems are impossible to pick. Also, the gameplay maybe is a little bit repetitive, but I didn't feel that as the game is fairly short.

Press Space To Jump The Gap by foolmoron 2021-05-20T00:25:10Z

I'm glad that I managed to beat this game. It took me way too long, 20+ minutes, but the feeling of thinking of outside the box is great.

Ludophile by Jack Lance 2021-05-19T23:40:35Z

I cheated a bit and fbegrq sbyqref ol gurve fvmrf (https://rot13.com/). I really like the use of the theme in this game, very clever and genuine. Great entry!

Deeper Into Technical Problems by thesambassador 2021-04-30T20:26:34Z

There is no much content in the game, but the concept is really cool. Honestly, you may easily flesh it out. For example, add enemies or character skills. And I think it was really fun to make the game, so you shouldn't be so negative!

Corresponding by p0l4r 2021-04-28T03:46:53Z

I like the experience the game gives I can imagine myself sitting in front of a typing machine fairly easily. It works well. I also like when you participate in a story just by typing. My big complain is that there is conflict between the desire to read what all can happen and my typing speed. In other words, I type slow and I wished that I could just pick the right words (by clicking a button) it could be much easier. Hm... interesting, I just realized that in text adventure games words are building blocks of a game, but in this concept letters are important too.

Square Diver by FussenKuh 2021-04-28T03:11:48Z

My best score was 491. I like the music a lot, it is dead simple, but really makes the mood for me. Overall the game is very small as you've written in the description as you worked 4 hours. If compo is the hard mode than yours is ultra hard. :) It is very good that you found time to participate in the jam. Congratulations!

What's in the Bottom? by Lex 2021-05-03T15:39:41Z

I'm sorry that I didn't finish the game it would have taken too long for me. Other than that, your game is great! I think it is the best use of theme on the jam for what I've seen.

The concept when you should avoid some fishes to get to the particular one is interesting and looks fresh. I think it is because some fishes are good to pick when you haven't caught it.

The exploration, achievements, whistles (music) are all other parts of the game I liked too and they are all together create nice experience as a fisherman.

The MindDiver by Pierre.F 2021-04-26T17:59:17Z

I like that the game has some art house vibes. It is also quirky and weird. The atmosphere is good, it just works. The puzzles are basic and repetitive, but I think they suit the overall experience well because you're going deep into a mind and it could be feel like this.

I also found a bug when you may fall down if you go left on the second floor in the first scene.

Chimes by Pohko 2021-04-26T02:32:53Z

A small, beautiful, cozy game! I really like pastel tones and the art, models and small animations. Looks very polished. I also like that you've added notes. Maybe only the theme of the jam is not fully developed. Well done!

Fallen Angel by Eduardo Yukio 2021-04-29T14:20:00Z

I've played your previous Ludum Dare game and it was one of my favorites of that jam! I liked level design of that game and this one has some similar take in some areas.

I liked parts of the game that should be explored to move further. For example, that I can fall down on angles, but not on the red ones. There is no clue for that. And it was interesting. My favorite part when you should strike down to move through the short tunnel of spikes.

I played the Downwell and the main difference is that Fallen Angle is not procedurally generated. That is why there is some moments that you should memories walkthrough. I just like that with the help of your game I could spotted that moment.

My only complain that I played Downwell and Fallen Angle is far too similar if you added some crazy mechanics it could make the game more memorable. For example, you could remove the shooting mechanic at all or leave only 2 or 3 ammo. The community of Ludum Dare is really friendly and if you made something that is not interesting it would be great too, because you'll gain new experience and we still will be happy to play your game.

Last Flower by Ekaterina 2021-04-28T02:34:46Z

Her Bedtime Stories by Emiliabea 2021-05-03T16:54:24Z

This was very unique experiences. It is more like a visual novel. I didn't fully understand the message, but it looks like you got intimate thoughts there. (I'm not native speaker and some text was too fast for me, but it didn't ruin the experience.) Other than that, the mood of the game is great and drawings create a distinguish look. I think you did well that choose a game as medium to explore and convey your thoughts.

Dwarven Delver by cavedens 2021-04-30T21:38:38Z

I have just played another game with a similar concept and I want to repeat here that it suits well on mobile with their swipes. Other than that, I think all part of the game complete each other well. My only complain is the bat because it appears from nowhere and hurts me. Others may say that the game is easy, but I don't think it is an issue as the time of the jam is limited and you may not have some time to balance the game. Nice game!

Mycelisation by bereg 2021-05-03T18:29:20Z

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-04-26T01:58:42Z

@elmando2333 it's hard to tell for sure, some points are meant to be a little bit further away. To control the end of the rope you should point the mouse at the location you want the end to go and press a left mouse button and hold it. Sometimes you should swing to reach a point. If you stuck at a specific point you may post a screenshot it will help to figure out if it a bug.

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-04-26T03:38:29Z

@mausimus thank you for playing! The backtracking could be definitely an issue, thank you for pointing that!

@the-neon-shark Wow! Thank you for playing and for the such detailed review! To be honest with you, I spent the first day only on the rope physics and it falls apparat very easily, so I didn't want to make changes to the first level (and others too) and some mechanics are cumbersome as when you should drag the mouse course across the screen. Thank you again for spending time writing all that down, it is very helpful and will guide me in the future!

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-04-26T16:03:34Z

@pohko thank you for playing! I'm happy to hear that 😊

@nessie thank you for time playing! I wanted to make controls more responsive, but I had some difficulties with friction of the rope. I hope you got the idea of what the game might be.

@falcon-lc thank you for playing! You're right there are plenty places for improvements.

@fussenkuh thank for you comment! To be honest with you, I've made a not complete game, but I'm glad that I could prove some theories with your help.

@p0l4r thank you for time playing! It was my misbelief that dead ends will encourage players for exploring the map, but it doesn't work like that.

@doc-kaos thank you for spending your time for leaving the comment. Your comment means a lot for me too.

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-04-29T10:13:32Z

@zef1r thank you for the feedback! You're thinking right, I got several complains for the first points. Maybe I should revisit the first level after I made the last one.

@scrawach thank you! I should quote your words about the relaxing bomb next time :)

@eduardo-yukio thank you for your thoughtful review! To be honest with you, I wanted to make a game with a solid theme and narrative too, but the idea with physics and rope was more fun to make at the idea stage of the jam. I'm very happy that you liked my game!

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-05-02T00:37:02Z

@fearawl thank you! I'm very glad that you liked my game. I'm thinking of mobile version too

@rubyes thank you for playing and pointing out the issues with dead ends. I think I could add some interesting shapes at these places, but I didn't thought about that.

@lokt02 It is sad to heart that you got such experience thank you very much for letting me know and not passing by!

@lex thank you for your support! I was really upset that I didn't manage to do what I planned and more over that everyone will play a half-baked game. I was thinking that it is waste of time for players and it won't be good. And after I'd received first feedback I realized how I was wrong. It is nothing to do with me it is just a game. Some players may be interested to know what I've done during the jam too.

@vaincil thank you for trying the game! I'm sorry to hear that. I couldn't tested all cases and the game can work on no all computers. You may try it on another pc.

@emiliabea thank you! I'm glad to hear that you liked the maze, it is the first such feedback. I thought if no one mention the typo, so I leave it as it is. I also decided that it could be an easter egg, but you pointed it out so I have fixed the typo. I'll try to let you know if there will be a post-jam version!

@mizatorian thank you for playing! Sorry to hear that you faced such difficulties. I only may advice you to play in fullscreen mode.

Thank you everyone! I want to play your games too, but I'm out of my desktop pc now. I'll try them too later.

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-05-02T19:32:21Z

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-05-03T17:36:45Z

Ludum Dante’s Inferno by VainCil 2021-05-03T16:16:35Z

Congratulations on your first 3d game! Sorry that I haven't finished the game, but I think with some practice I'll do it. I think if you've added some elements in the environment, it would improve the game. Nice take on the theme!

I personally like the mood and humor and it gave me some needed emotions. Thank you! :)

Miner Rescue by mausimus 2021-04-26T14:52:24Z

I really like the look and sound effects. And overall the game feels very solid, because I managed to go to the end, but without rescuing anyone and the end screen informed me about that. My only complain that the game is too hard for me and stressful, but it is miners, you know, stressful job. I also was happy to see raylib here. Cool game!

Miner Creeper by lokt02 2021-05-03T15:08:14Z

The game has some issues for me: the screen issue, and with the golden pickaxe on the second level. I also found a bug when you jump several time, it moves you higher and higher. I found it funny and interesting, so I don't know should you fix it or not.

Other then that, I liked mechanics with pickaxes when you should think ahead how to dig tunnels. I think you should fix bugs, maybe you'll decided to return to this idea and develop it further.

Through the Anthill by nessie 2021-04-26T17:30:29Z

The game has some bugs and the music stops playing after awhile, but overall I like the experience. I felt a bit of adventures as I was playing for the ant. I wish I had some sense of progression, it could be a number of ants to save. (The score point is good, but it is not enough for me.) The world you've built in this game feels consistent and pleasant, I think it is the strongest point of the game.

Earth Cannon地球大炮 by Elmando2333 2021-04-26T02:17:03Z

I like the idea that you're constantly accelerating, control the character and at the same time read notes. It gives uncertain feeling and it's interesting!

Deeper and Deeper in the Woods by Mizatorian 2021-05-03T17:13:29Z

Nice little game! I agree with the comments above that the game has space to grow. In other words, you could experimenting further as @britt-henderson mentioned. Personally, I like the music most, it creates nice mood.

Lost Shrimp by Falcon_Lc 2021-04-28T02:22:11Z

Most of all I like that you're playing for a shrimp with a pistol. It is already funny. Fish flocks look good too. I wish there were sounds of ocean or some ambient it would suit the game very well. Nice work!

SPERMA by the neon shark 2021-04-26T15:36:40Z

I was thinking that someone may peek adult theme and here it is. I like how you managed to wrap it as a rougelike. The skill tree is interesting and has some variations. The mood is great. Controlling the group is a bit stiff and hard. (I think when you try to move the group and it moves rather unresponsive it left unsatisfaying feeling. But nethertheless you've managed to build the rougelike system around that!) Controlling the last left sperm is much much easier. Very fun game!

LD55 — Summoning

Summoned Towers by jan5366x 2024-04-16T22:01:53Z

The idea is interesting and it also fun to play, but the concept has some downsides. For example, you should remember the map and build towers on the right paths or it is hard to understand where the enemies are heading as you don't see them. The mini map helps, but it is not enough. in any way, it was really fun.

Chuck It Up The Mountain by gamesplusjames 2024-04-16T00:22:22Z

It reminds me of Tower Jump, a mobile game. The game is way too difficult for me that I didn't manage to pass first level. But I like the mechanics a lot, it feels very rage and addictive. The dialogues are funny too.

Sandtown by UnidayStudio 2024-04-16T02:08:34Z

An indicator where to place an object would be at handy. I also found that it is hard to build a beautiful and coherent buildings because you can't undone a step and you can place a building on trees which is not logical. Other than that, the aesthetic are great and the sandbox game is very lovely.

If Only by Le Slo 2024-04-16T19:03:09Z

Clever puzzles! I've completed 5 levels so far. It is amazing how you managed project the summoning theme on Sokoban-style puzzles. I think adding of undo button would be very appropriate. Well done! P.S. You can also add a note how to play in the description. It would be very helpful, but it is not so difficult to figure it out by oneself.

Depths of Hell by pres2300 2024-04-16T00:42:35Z

The gameplay is solid. I wish it would had more guns and variety of enemies. The game has potential for development. I managed to get to 4 level and they all look the same, but with more bosses. Nice entry!

Deathless Sentinel by Fahim Faysal 2024-04-17T21:35:07Z

I tried the web build, but it has no fullscreen button. You may want to add it in the page's settings on itch.io. After that, I ran the Windows build and it is not optimized for widescreen monitors, so I changed my display resolution and I haven't found any issues after that with the game.

As for the game, it is a very simple puzzle. It was not difficult to beat the game, though I really liked the concept and mechanics I think you could add more challenging levels, but it is already good as a proof of concept. I have also to say that the models are great, they look well and polished. Well done!

Dungeon Evoker by VPhyre 2024-04-18T19:32:53Z

Why have you chosen Z, X, C, N, M, but not Z, X, C, V, B keys? :D

Aside from that, the game plays and feels well!

Dicey Demons by UkuleleFury 2024-04-16T02:57:49Z

Midnight Mage by SparkyDoc07 2024-04-16T12:49:52Z

When I press 1, 2, 3, 4 the screen appears and I can't hide it back. In the end, I don't understand how to play the game.

Midnight Mage by SparkyDoc07 2024-04-16T13:37:11Z

Oh, I see, the problem was that the escape key is closing the fullscreen mode in a browser.

I tried the game again, but I still don't understand how to use spells. The spell screen appears I can move the rectangle, but that it is all. I only managed to cast a spell on E, like fire on the ground. The wolf are also strange, because they can't kill you and the spell points increase by their deaths.

Midnight Mage by SparkyDoc07 2024-04-16T13:52:05Z

Thank you, I finally understood how to cast a spell. You need to place a rectangle on tiles with fire.

Summoning for Dummies by erebrus 2024-04-16T19:44:45Z

Sorcerer's Army of Summons by Rendow 2024-04-16T21:06:23Z

I must say you've created a lot of models for a jam game. The game is fun. I also like the twist on Vampire Survivor formula and adding tile based movement. My only complain that it becomes harder to control the character after you've played awhile.

A Short Summoning by Dmitry Mozgin 2024-04-15T22:44:55Z

@julien-lenormand-kaizen yes, it is intended that the enemies can go through walls. I thought that if the enemies can find a proper path through the environment is less challenging than the enemies that follow straight to the player.

A Short Summoning by Dmitry Mozgin 2024-04-16T18:11:28Z

@herka I didn't thought of adding a dodge mechanic it could be interesting. Thank you for leaving the comment!

A Short Summoning by Dmitry Mozgin 2024-04-17T15:57:38Z

@bacon-beast I tried to make more an exploration game, but it is turned out it is good basis for tower defense game. It could be interesting. Thank you for the idea. :)

Sumémon: Number Nimrods by SlavTurtle 2024-04-15T22:09:09Z

It is an interesting and fun idea, but it is very hard to get to the target number. My only complain that usage of the theme is not so clear, but I guess summoning numbers is it. And the game froze once.

The Summoning by Jhonny111 2024-04-18T20:58:35Z

Very interesting concept of mining and protecting the altar. There is also a vast upgrade system. The core loop is fully functional, but needs more polishing because there is little time for running from enemies to mining and back again and progress feels slow. I also think if you added some music and sounds it would be better. Overall, good game!

The art and music is fantastic. The story is engaging. The game loop is fun. It is sad, but I encountered the bug that prevents me from moving the cards. Restart helped. At the second attempt, I reached the pre-pre-final battle and died.

@save-sloth-studios I was using the Windows build.

Aldoria's King by Locke8 2024-04-16T18:05:17Z

That is an interesting idea of mixing tower defense and deckbuilding genres, but the game needs more polish. There is no tutorial section and hard to guess that you can summon a monster only on the left side of the screen and only on roads. The usage of the theme is good too. I lost on the 3 wave. Overall, I think you can develop the game further if you want because it has good potential for development.

Summoner's Delight by StanTheSoupKing 2024-04-19T19:35:45Z

The pixel art is adorable. The mechanic is interesting, but it was hard to play with a keyboard. The hand always moved slightly further and the spell was canceled because of that. I guess the game is optimized for a gamepad better. Why have you chosen to not use a mouse? I think mouse would suit the gameplay better. Regardless, nice game!

Summoning Circles, Á La Carte by Matt Blake 2024-04-17T23:28:09Z

I don't understand how to play. I tried different combination from the book, but I guess I was doing them wrong. A tutorial how to summon a simple monster would be helpful. But despite my issue, this is one of the best take on summoning theme. I liked the idea a lot.

Siela by Gnum_ 2024-04-15T23:15:01Z

The atmosphere is great. It is fun, but I stuck in this hole. I thought there will be some deadly enemy and the game will be more challenging.

SKELEMANCER by deadjolly 2024-04-16T21:27:14Z

The concept is great, but I encountered some bugs that prevented me from beating the game. The first bug was after the beginning I ran to the opposite castle and no enemy warriors appeared. The second bug was just a crash. I also encountered freezes at the very first summon of a skeleton.

P.S. I used the desktop version of the game.

The Unsummoning by Abstruse 2024-04-16T18:25:42Z

I'm curios, does the game have an ending? It looks like waves of enemies are endless. It is hard for me to judge the game because I don't like typing much, but it was fun. I like the design of small quick monsters with few letters and big slow ones with many letters. Nice game with cool graphics!

Undead Survivor by buloz 2024-04-16T01:26:45Z

The art and sounds are great, the game looks like it a complete game. The gameplay is like Vampire Survivors, but with summoning and it feels right. My only complain that it was hard for me to understand the summoning spells. Which ingredients summon which ally. Nevertheless, it is a good entry for the jam's theme, as I thought of Vampire Survivors clone too.

The Ghosts I Summoned by KoB-Kirito 2024-04-16T03:29:54Z

The game looks great, but I don't understand how to escape from the cell. I just stuck in the first room. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I'm trying to summon the ghost and control it to find a way out, but the ghost can't do much, only walk.

The Ghosts I Summoned by KoB-Kirito 2024-04-16T16:51:33Z

@kob-kirito I'm so stupid, thank you. I escaped from the cell, but stuck at the next door. I guess it is bad luck :)

My Occult Therapist by Julien-Lenormand-Kaizen 2024-04-15T23:00:20Z

I like the unique take on the theme. The gameplay is simple, but it was fun to read all the dialogues. But it is not always clear what to expect when you choose the reply.

Astral Tale by Oznarox 2024-04-16T20:34:22Z

Very short game! I like short games but there weren't enough time to use introduced mechanics. It is sad because the game has a good set of platforming mechanics. (As you've implemented glide and slide mechanics.) I also liked the story of the spirits, like an opposite side of summoning.

Temptation Summoner's Aprendice by Baluj 2024-04-19T20:15:23Z

The pixel art is simple, but very effective. I also like chaos on the battle field, but it was hard for me to figure out what to do. I've read comments and agree with others as the game could have more visual feedback when something important is happening. Regardless that, I think the concept is interesting and you may want to improve the game according to suggestions in the comments.

Summoner Defense by PT09 2024-04-17T19:59:04Z

The game turned out to be not so difficult and with some glitches (my archers glitched and became unresponsive from time to time), but it is short and fun. I also found that archers are the winning strategy. Just build cheap archers more. Congratulations on your first entry!

the Crowd by silverash 2024-04-16T13:17:36Z

The graphics are nice. I enjoyed the Sokoban-like gameplay, especially the summoning mechanics. The puzzles are not so difficult. The game is very easy to understand.

Matthew, Emissary of Balance by unchain 2024-04-17T21:02:55Z

I really liked that the necromancer also plants the trees. I didn't known such Chinese story, so it feels fresh to me. The gameplay is fun, but I didn't notice how I lost the game. I'd thought I was winning. Nevermind, great entry!

NECRO RUSH by helviett 2024-04-16T17:00:17Z

The usage of the theme is great, one of the best for me on the jam. I like animations and art. I glad that there is an easy mode for casual players like me :) I couldn't beat the second level though.

Dungeon Internship by Dams333 2024-04-19T20:46:05Z

I've already seen some games with such mechanics when you read a book with instructions and trying to summon a monster. I really like these mechanics and I think the concept is great. It very well suits the theme. I didn't understand at first how to pick various parts of the body, but it wasn't too long. Nice job!

DURO by Fenix131113 2024-04-16T19:27:28Z

The concept is great! I like how many wizards with their abilities. Only I stuck maybe on 5 level. It was very easy at the beginning, but suddenly appeared the level I couldn't beat. It sad, cause I feel so dumb. Anyway, great entry!

Summoning Bridges by mertol 2024-04-15T23:56:45Z

I think it is very innovative gameplay. At first, I didn't figure out properly what to do, but after some tweaking I managed to climb up to 4 tower. The key is to use right mouse click. It was great experience. I also imagine how it was fun to develop such system as a compo entry. (I wish I had such ideas.)

Soul Pact by SesMiRe 2024-04-16T20:49:14Z

Very hard to figure out what to do. The maximum what I've achieved is to open a book. Other than that it is very intriguing game.

Curse of the Mystical Mushroom by BACON BEAST 2024-04-17T20:33:05Z

I have to say that I enjoyed playing the game. It is a very simple auto-battler, yet it has variety of options to upgrade your troops of mushrooms. It is also interesting that you've included two themes in the game and participated in both game jams. It looks like the themes are well complement each other. I destroyed the big mushroom. Well done!

Oliver by F13 2024-04-17T19:33:22Z

LuciFare by Aaron Hart 2024-04-15T23:31:37Z

I like the art style of the game, it is memorized well. The use of theme is original. But the gameplay of memorizing the moves is not what I do well. Good luck with your first entry!

Spellmancer by DenkiTheGamer 2024-04-16T02:36:34Z

I can't pass the first level too. I tried all buttons, but nothing happens.

Angel Vox by Iwant_Pizza 2024-04-16T20:16:57Z

The atmosphere is top notch. Reminds me of old horror games. Good luck to develop a new game soon.

P.S. Maybe you should add a standalone build because in fullscreen mode in a browser the guide notes are not visible.

NecroBit by comigor 2024-04-16T01:00:58Z

The one bit aesthetic is awesome. I know it meant to be cheaper to produce, but I like it nevertheless. The gameplay is good such you feel like you're playing for a necromancer. But the game feels difficult, especially when I met the ghosts that shot projectiles. I wish there were health items. Congratulations on your first entry!
