Great looking game! But way too hard right from the get go. This is like the Dark Souls of this jam. lol. Nice job!

merrow 2020-10-06 17:56

Nice 3D work, I did not get the jump timing for a while, athmosphere was good

der-finski 2020-10-06 17:56

Agree with the comment before, little to hard at the beginning. And you LD site could use some more text, pics etc but otherwise, good game

theseusinabottle 2020-10-07 00:17

I like your graphical style. I am always up for a challenge but this was a little to much a little to fast.

diptoman 2020-10-07 01:24

I feel a game idea like this would've been much better served in either 2D or with a different (isometric?) camera angle - it was really hard to get that overall view to keep track of the loops. The idea is great though, and the atmosphere with VO was spot on! Good job!

biancamello 2020-10-07 03:10

Nice game!

lena-taylor 2020-10-07 03:12

I always felt confused on how to progress and how to gain more jumps. It's my vague understanding that I'm supposed to go through every door, but figuring out how to do that was beyond me. I feel the game could have benefitted from some way to view or explore the entire level before taking action. It was very pretty, though.

etrealjunior 2020-10-07 07:52

I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection

virtual-turtle-studio 2020-10-07 08:11

Very intersing main mechanic, but I can't help but feel the first level is way too complicated already! I saw exactly what I was supposed to do and where I was supposed to go, but I was missing one important step in between and I couldn't figure it out :( I think if the mechanic was introduced a bit more slowly then it could have been a bit easier. Also, I think a timer that counts upwards might be interesting, because a countdown timer is quite stressful, especially in a puzzle game. Anyway, I definitely like the mechanic, and the artstyle + atmosphere in the game, so good job on that, it's just a little hard ^^

josephdevelops 2020-10-07 13:10

I didn't get too far because of time contracts. My theory is that portal fans will love this game. This game was solid, and easily commercial level in quality.

avatargreggles 2020-10-07 19:48

This is tough, right off the bat! But such a delight to be within! You've got a solid creative mind and it's a sweet entry! Good job!

pink-shard-games 2020-10-07 20:57

I'm impressed that you were able to create such a polished game in just 72 hours. Great job !

kaganobik 2020-10-07 21:10

It was great. Fan of the levels haha! Great job!

etrealjunior 2020-10-07 21:45

I liked the game it meets the proposal well, it would only improve the way the paths appear visually, this one of congratulations for your game!

abdul-zakkar 2020-10-07 22:25

Awesome game all around! I liked the visuals, the ambience, music, controls, etc. The puzzles were super hard and really reminded me of those portal 2 user-made levels. Definitely some inspiration from portal here :) I beat 2/3 puzzles and got super close to beating the last! This game definitely spiked up the difficulty, would have liked a slower introduction. Still, concept is awesome (and yes I see the similarity to my game!)

raphiell 2020-10-08 00:48

Tutorial Level was tough lol! I think the boundaries of the solid trails could be marked better. It was hard to tell sometimes if I was going to fall into a gap or not.

Well done on the awesome game!

prodigalson 2020-10-08 15:40

I was promised donuts but did not get any :( :) I tried not to compare to other games but I really got this Portal vibe while playing the game. The idea is fun and the execution not bad I would've wanted to be have been able to see 80% of the problem before hand to make decisions on how to plan the route rather than feeling like it was mainly a trial and error and remember what you did. Nicely done

spawncampgames 2020-10-08 16:00

@prodigalson We tried sooo hard to get to the point where we could implement a doughnut eating mechanic :D When we first started It went straight in the ToDo list.. Unfortunately we didn't have time to get to it. We almost didn't even make the jam. We submitted at 2 minutes remaining.. We're glad you enjoyed it.. And I agree.. There should have been a fly mode to check out the level.. When we started we had Tron in mind but as it progressed the whole team got portal vibes! Thanks for playing.

kaafirookie 2020-10-08 19:25

The game has a lot of potential and I like the mood and overall feel and look of the game! Congratulations on completing the jam with such a wonderful base project! That being said, The balance of the game was a bit off and there's a bit of understanding of the level layout is required to fully plan out the whole thing and that's kinda hard my friend, but the end satisfaction is really on point! I wish the whole team best of luck, defiantly looking forward to see what more you guys cook! ( btw, where are my donuts? , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4aQo5BLAq0)

spawncampgames 2020-10-09 05:31

@kaafirookie Thanks for the comment.. and giving it a chance.. Yea once you figure it out the satisfaction is on point.. But I admit we dropped the ball on the difficulty curve.. Sorry we didn't get time to implement the doughnut eating mechanic.. It *was* on the to-do list tho.. Here, ya go.

glazed-doughnuts-fp.jpg

On the house!

mak6 2020-10-09 09:36

Impressive game ! The level design on this had to be fun ^^". I really enjoyed playing it !

100th-coin 2020-10-09 17:13

Wow, this was amazing! Definitely the most innovative Jam game I've played this ludum dare. The level design was really great, and I loved the puzzles that the main mechanic provides. Incredible work! As others have mentioned, the only thing this game is lacking is the ability to eat those donuts.

indieronin 2020-10-10 03:55

It was fun the moment I figured out how to use my movements for the next steps, its an interesting concept. The sounds and and visuals work well together to set the mood up. Keep up the good work

spawncampgames 2020-10-10 03:57

@indieronin I'm glad u liked it and also that u got passed the learning curve.. thanks for the feedback. :)

blue05 2020-10-10 08:49

The visuals look amazing for this game! It also just feels really good to play. It was very difficult to begin though. I think it was mostly stress from the limited amount of time. Besides the difficulty, it's a really good game!

tatawanda 2020-10-10 12:27

Cool game. I like your take on the theme and a good idea. Few remark thought, it was already commented on but, it's true knowing the layout of the map could be useful and allowing to plan before setting it into motion. For this, I would suggest to remove the time mechanic, it does not bring a lot and it become quickly frustrating imo. Apart from that, really cool. Good job !

idenoh 2020-10-10 15:19

Super hard but when you finally solve the puzzle its VERY rewarding, I can see why you would refer to it as the dark souls of this jam! overall it was very well made, I love it.

tygrak 2020-10-10 17:11

That was really really hard! Great idea and also very well polished - I didn't find any bugs, the controls were good, it was all smooth. But I really think the difficulty was too much. It was hard enough for me to not block myself off with my ghost, but there was also the time limit! Good job making the game though :) - I might just be bad at these kinds of games :D.

spawncampgames 2020-10-10 17:29

@tygrak No, your fine.. The difficulty curve needs adjusting or a slower paced tutorial but time restraints kinda screwed us.. And the way the game is set up complete level re-designs are about the only thing that could adjust it. Glad you liked it tho..

elemel 2020-10-10 18:04

Really promising but I gave up on level 1. Liked the Portal worship and the idea of using your previous path as a platform. Didn't like the time or jump limits, I think these would work better as optional achievements.

ale 2020-10-10 18:11

Wow that was super impressive, but it made me feel stupid lol. I think this game would be a lot easier if you didn't have a timer, and if you added a free-fly mode or something similar that lets you see the layout of the map. Without that, you have to figure out what to do through trial and error, but even that is difficult because you have to be careful not to block your path.

Graphics, gameplay, audio, theme, mood were all great! Nice job!

ruling-spear 2020-10-10 18:14

You had me at donuts. Love the mechanics and has a ton of potential. Good job!

spawncampgames 2020-10-10 18:16

@ruling-spear thanks for playing :)

steve7411 2020-10-10 18:19

I really liked the concept. As others have said, the level labeled as the tutorial seemed to assume that the players are already familiar with the game mechanics, but it's fun once you figure it out on your own.

stellarbeargames 2020-10-10 18:26

Really good puzzle design and pretty colors. Others have already said it starts too hard. I agree but it wouldn't bother me that much if there weren't other games to rate; the challenge is good. Fine idea to use donuts for the loop theme. Overall excellent game!

fupi 2020-10-10 18:36

Alright, I finished the tutorial but I don't think I want to keep going... It's not even that these puzzles are hard, they just take too long. You could have really gone with an easier tutorial to let you adjust yourself to the controls before making you do a jump at the very end of the puzzle, where any small mistake will send you back to the start to slowly do all your movement over again. I must have redone the tutorial level like 15 times, and the farther I got in the level, the more I got punished for small mistakes, by having to do everything again. Finishing it just felt like a relief rather than an accomplishment...

With that said, here's what I think could be done to make this game less irritating in my very unprofessional opinion: - Take away the time limit. The fact that your previous path becomes solid is already enough motivation to be efficient with your movement. - Make your previous path become solid immediately after you activate a door. This will reduce the amount of waiting around you have to do and also prevent the player from getting stuck inside their path's collision. - Give the player the choice to redo any of their paths instead of starting over every time, this way they don't need to keep redoing the paths they already solved (since this is a puzzle game, there is no reason why the player should redo all this stuff, since the goal is to solve the puzzle, not become better with the controls) - Redoing paths could also be used as a mechanic for more puzzles, for example: Path 1, make a purple trail bridge for yourself, activate a door. Path 2, cross the bridge, activate a green door that creates a green slope. Redo path 1, path 1's door gets deactivated and the original path you did for path 1 disappears, you pass through the place where the bridge used to be and use the green slope.

spawncampgames 2020-10-10 18:55

@fupi thanks for the honest feedback

somogy 2020-10-10 19:23

Game very well done, I liked the fun provided, good job!

jose-bonilla 2020-10-10 19:23

Good idea but I think it's a bit complex. Controls feel a little bit unresponsive. Nice graphics and voice acting! Good luck!

spawncampgames 2020-10-11 03:25

@jose-bonilla did you play the standalone version? The WebGL build has sensitivity issues.. The build is much better and the controls are much more responsive.. Else, The character is coded to carry momentum if that's what you mean? Either way thanks for the comment.

arad-hamidsamiee 2020-10-11 09:49

This game is haaard, yet enjoyable. good music and nice mechanics. I'd like the environment to be brighter, good job.

flying-dog-fish 2020-10-11 11:16

A very interesting concept and some nice visual. It needs a proper tutorial though, not just one that throws you into a complex level and expects you to figure it out. I had no idea what was going on in there. Eventually I figured out I can step on my previous path to get higher, but at that point I lost interest in playing anymore.

staircase27a 2020-10-11 12:28

Interesting game but way too hard straight off from the start. Could definitely do with some easier tutorials to build up to it.

joedev 2020-10-11 14:07

Very fun! Luckily I'd already watched a streamer play some of this game so I knew the concept / idea, but even so the puzzles were very tough and frustrating (but in a good way). This mechanic is very interesting and creates some very cool level / puzzle design opportunities, and I would love to play a full version in the future

acaral 2020-10-11 14:38

Fun. Intersting. An arcade feeling. A puzzle game feeling.

...Maybe it's a puzzle-arcade-plateformer with a Portal style.

In any case I enjoyed it

gamechoy 2020-10-11 15:09

This is super challenging but in a good way! I like that a lot of thought seemed to go into the mechanics and the puzzles and the graphics were very well done. The music and atmosphere as a whole was great as well. I think a simpler tutorial would be beneficial, it took me a very long time to figure out. Great entry thought!

elysiagriffin 2020-10-11 21:28

666savior 2020-10-11 21:40

Pretty fun game, i kept screwing my future iterations over by blocking paths XD

wahooney 2020-10-11 21:54

This is really cool. The making your path solid thing gives it a feeling like you're playing TRON against yourself.

Did you use ProtoTexture or Texture Grid Generator for this? Those textures look might familiar ;)

spawncampgames 2020-10-11 22:23

@666savior would you say you got "stuck in a loop"? Lol

spawncampgames 2020-10-11 22:26

@wahooney most of it was just probuilder for unity and its default textures. The rest was either prototype textures from unity or photoshop (like the posters and magazine)

dmitry-mozgin 2020-10-13 13:01

I like the concept very much it is very interesting. The game experience is fresh and unique I think it because the game is in 3d and I've already seen many games in 2d with same (record player's moves) concept. The execution of the game is good the game runs smooth and without any troubles or I haven't seen them. I only managed to complete the tutorial and it took me good amount of time. I think it is the main problem of the game that to complete a level you should make many tries and spend decent amount of time to think that through. (I also wanted to mention that the green line in the tutorial helped a lot at the beginning. ) Other than that I liked the experience and I think game jams is good for that they have games like this.

matootsy 2020-10-13 20:02

Hello! It seems to be a nice concept, but even the tutorial is too confuse for me. I didn't understand the mechanic of this game... In my humble opinion, a tutorial more simple, step by step, to understand the features, would be required. Otherwise the art and the sound is clean.

zimny11 2020-10-13 21:53

Nice game! However, it is so hard :)

idan-rooze 2020-10-13 22:09

A really cool puzzle, super interesting. Having it be on first-person is an interesting quirk. I'm not sure the jumping mechanic is really required for this one, it's a bit redundant in my opinion. It would be nice seeing levels that are solely focused on the tracing part of the game. All in all a wonderful entry.

thecritterscove 2020-10-16 18:07

I really like the concept of this, but it is difficult to tell where you're supposed to be going from a first person view. It's also a bit overwhelming when you first start playing. You actually did put good access to the instructions in the game, but it wasn't until a few play throughs that I was able to notice them. It might help to put the info from the hub in the pause menu. A non-timed tutorial level may also help a lot so the player isn't panicked while trying to learn how to play the game.

I guess the only other issue I had was judging the placement of the paths relative to the platforms. It was really easy to slightly misjudge and have to redo everything over again. I'm not really sure if this is something with an easy solution though. Like if the top of the paths could be made a bigger surface without increasing the size of the lower part, so players could still walk by it. Though maybe I'm just exceptionally clumsy for thinking this is an issue to begin with?

Overall though it's a really neat concept and I think it has a lot of potential. It just needs some more time and polish. Side note, but I really did enjoy the audio in this.

joaog 2020-10-17 01:05

I admit that the game was a little confusing for me and I don't know if I really learned to play, if so, I'm really bad at that game! Haha but that's okay, good atmosphere and great graphics.

spawncampgames 2020-10-17 02:29

@joaog I'm sorry to hear I admit we didn't really get a fleshed out tutorial that we were happy with.. Thanks for the compliments, though. If you visit my youtube ludum dare playlist there's a few streamers that played-through to see what the goal was.. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvSTBcCRbDl_g329C1k-K6A

Hey can u guys email Mike and tell him to bump my scores up? I only got 542nd in theme and 22nd in humor.
