Good!

@evileptic Thanks for playing! Glad it wasn't so hard that people couldn't get to the end. I worried about the puzzles having enough clues.

zackavelli 2020-10-05 20:10

Fit the theme well and the graphics are charming in the retro style way. Puzzle games aren't my strong suit so I didn't make it very far haha

sop-the-turtle 2020-10-06 01:23

@zackavelli Thanks for playing! Glad you thought the graphics were okay. I am not an artist but was able to whip together something basic for the jam. Thanks again!

fronwewq 2020-10-06 06:49

I couldn't figure it out, I think I'm stuck on a misinterpretation. The symbols above the switches are clocks, right? I'm trying to read clues from the time they show, though it is a little hard to get an accurate time due to the resolution. So maybe they aren't clocks...? I'm not sure, I'm stuck. Happy to revisit if you have any hints :)

zacharieg 2020-10-06 09:08

I played until the end and I am confuse... I didn't understand all but the simplicity of the game and the dialogs made me laugh (Let's watching stars XD), it need some graphics improvement but keep it up you're doing well

burnedkirby 2020-10-06 11:51

Took a while to reach the end on this one. Wasn't sure how the buttons were supposed to progress the game, but I eventually reached a point where things changed and was able to make it to the end. So I don't really understand how to actually solve the first puzzle with the buttons. Though the ending was nice. Good work! EDIT: BTW, This works in Linux in Wine

sop-the-turtle 2020-10-06 12:52

@fronwewq the clock represents how many iterations you have gone through. The position on the clock may have something to do with what key you need. Thanks a bunch for trying it out!

@zacharieg Thanks for playing! I agree on the graphical improvements are necessary. I hope I can figure out some place to take this game post-jam.

@burnedkirby The buttons are your standard hit them in the right order puzzle. I definitely needed to include some context markers to let the player know if they did it in the right order or not. I also had trouble coming up with a way to provide the solution in a clue. I will probably include that in an update once the rating period for LD47 is over. Also thanks for finding out works on Wine in Linux. I don't have Linux myself so wasn't able to test that out. I appreciate it! Thank you so much for playing it!

dmitry-mozgin 2020-10-06 13:07

I know that the game looks silly but I really like that you've made it and I played and finished it. Don't get me wrong, the silliness, simplicity and game situations are what I like about the game. All feel cohesive and absurd. Well done!

sop-the-turtle 2020-10-06 14:33

@dmitry-mozgin Thank you so much for playing my game! Silliness and asburdity were kind of what I was going for so I really appreciate that feedback :D

yeti-kid 2020-10-06 17:56

Nice graphics and really good idea which fits the theme perfectly!

sacredbacon 2020-10-07 01:55

Great Game! Admittedly I was only able to beat it by reading the source code to solve the button puzzle, I thought it was some sort of binary puzzle with the clocks. Very good controls, I liked the art, and the story was cool too. Thanks for the game!

judgezedd 2020-10-07 09:36

That was really cute, and a clever interpretation of the theme. Glad I managed to kill that bug at the end, and I like just watching some stars, I think it's a satisfying ending. Lot of games for the compo never get that far, so that in itself is an amazing achievement. Good job.

rgilpt 2020-10-07 09:58

Well done, game is great for a compo. I missed the music :D. Didn't pass the second level, tried different approaches, but not the right one :D Great work!

sop-the-turtle 2020-10-07 12:26

@sacredbacon Thanks for playing! I am just glad that the code was readable enough to be able to figure out the solution. I always worry about how clean the code is.

@judgezedd Thanks so much for playing! Glad you liked it. I always try to have an ending for game jam games so the player can have a sense of completion.

@rgilpt Thanks for playing! I really need to learn more about how to compose better music. Mostly why I left audio out of this one. I've tried with some other games in the past and let's just say that I have a lot of room to improve there. Thanks again!

hadryel 2020-10-08 22:33

Nice entry. I like the graphics! I wasn't able to figure the switch puzzle tho (the thing was spawning after a lot of trial and error on my end). But the theme was well explored here. Well done!

phillserrazina 2020-10-09 09:57

Those graphics were absolutely adorable! What a nice experience, good job!

gilborn 2020-10-09 11:40

Crazy story! : ) I don“t know if there where clues for the Button riddle (had to do the trick with the source code, too ; )), if no, this would be something to improve. I liked the game, simple, but clean graphics, nice attempt on the theme! I liked it! Sound would have been great.

eugenik 2020-10-09 17:00

really cool artstyle

sop-the-turtle 2020-10-09 21:59

@gilborn definitely gonna add some clues to the button puzzle once the rating period is over! Thanks for playing!

@eugenik Thanks for playing, glad you like the simple graphics!

@phillserrazina Thanks so much, also glad you like the graphics!

island-jam-2-group-3 2020-10-12 12:56

Liked the graphics and the take over the theme, but I couldn't figure out the buttons puzzle ^^U

ukulelefury 2020-10-12 19:57

+1 to not understanding the puzzle. I like the art though!

sop-the-turtle 2020-10-12 21:16

@island-jam-2-group-3 and @ukulelefury Thanks for much for playing despite the puzzle being tough. When the rating period is over I'm definitely gonna update to include a better clue or at least some context to let you know if you got it wrong. Thanks so much for the feedback!

aressler38 2020-10-16 01:47

This worked well for the theme. I like the animation on the little player.

kekkodude 2020-10-21 22:29

congrats on your first entry! clean pixel graphics always have a place in my heart, so props for that haha, missed music or any form for sound, you should try to experiment with some for your next game, or for this one if you are planning on doing more work on it, it help immensely with mood and setting!

curious about what tools you used, the player sprite has it's origin point somewhat misaligned from the center, not sure if you do this intentionally or what's up, but at least collisions still work fine even though the sprite clips into the stairs

oh and by the way, no stress with the monster bud, i eradicated him properly so your house should be critter free now, and the stars shined brighter than ever, must be little light pollution in the area!

sop-the-turtle 2020-10-22 01:39

Thanks @kekkodude I used PyxelEdit to create all the sprites for this game. It is a really easy to use tool for me. I think the sprite is off center because I couldn't get it to work quite right for the Sprite Renderer's FlipX in Unity and have it satisfy both sides. Where Unity put the center wasn't quite right. I would've played around with it more to get it just right but I'll try to do an update where I take care of music and sound effects as well. Just need to do some more research on how to do it properly. Thanks again for playing!

fingamer 2020-10-25 23:01

Cool little game!

It's very simple, it had a puzzle and some story. Audio might've been a nice addition. Pixel graphics were nice. It played well and smoothly. Also got to see them stars at the end! It was really casual, short little game.

Overall it's nice for your first entry! Good work!

sop-the-turtle 2020-10-26 01:09

@fingamer Thanks for playing I appreciate it. Going to try to figure out how to produce quality sound/music and update the game down the road here once LD47 rating period is over. Hoping to continue to improve after this!
