The combat mechanic is fun, takes a while to get used to, but after that it become easier.
I thought the wood and stone can be used for crafting or something, and was sadly disappointed. Tried to look around for secrets but didn't find any (unless I totally missed it).
Overally I like it, especially the mood that you set. Perhaps make the screen a bit darker to sell the mood.

You should be able to attack in all directions. Also the swinging of the axe is super slow. It makes it very hard to play for me.

Really liked the art and sound in this, brings the setting together nicely. Would have liked to see upgrades or something with the rock / wood to better fight but other than that its really good.

This is overall a super simple and fun little survival game. The sound effects and visuals is pretty good. The fight against the enemies is a bit too difficult. I also found a small bug that ended my time with the game. The issue was that I spawned between a tree and a rock, and got stuck in the tree.

First of all, congrats, great game overall, nicely polish !
There's few thing you could improve :
Make an actual use for gold, i went through first level collecting as much as possible, then i got "lot" of gold when finishing it, then i died, lost everything, and decided than i should continue without the grind to see what it cost, what i lost, etc, never find a way to use it, it's more like a score system, but you really should explain what's the purpose of gold is, or give upgrade to reward the grind
Make the character a bit faster, that really don't suit the top down fight game i think, it's slow, and there's so many fight, and enemies take 4 hits, logs and rocks take multiples hit, it really slow down the game.
Rain and bonfire usually don't make it together, that's subtle, and it's really matter of personnal opinion, but i guess some kind of night time would give the same mood (could also use lighting to give a bit of thrill) without breaking the logic
Other subtle thing, i think that hitting logs / rocks could have a better use of a shake animation, rather than just scale up and down.
Beside that, there's only the few bad points, i really like the mood, that kind of graphism make me go yes all around, i love top down games, so yeah, big congrats for your entry :D
@vollfeiw @zwodahs Thank you for your feedback! Initially, I planned a crafting and trading system, but due to time constraints and some other factors, many things had to be simplified or abandoned.

Your game is so well polished! Although you didn't managed to get the features you wanted, at least you got a good gameplay loop working. Good job!
However, i do wished that the game was a tad faster. It felt very slowed down when doing anything.
The graphics are super well done, they're definitely the highlight of this game. I also love the little camera zoom that happens whenever you strike an enemy, it gives a lot of oomph to your attacks.
I do wish the player character was a little faster, moving around seems pretty slow. The hitbox of your axe swing is also kind of small and slow. I found it pretty difficult to hit enemies without getting hit back, and hitting something above you requires really precise aiming. And like others have said, I would have liked to see a use for the gold, logs, and rocks you collect, but I understand the time constraints.
Overall, great job!

Really nice and well polished game. Great job! As previously mention, I would love to see same use of wood, stone and gold. But I understand that the time to implement such things during game jam is limited. I'd also like some variation in enemies, like shooting enemy that has one HP or something like that :)

Very cute and cozzy. A little bit slow imo, but great compo entry! Well done!
Initially got a bit confused that i seemed to just respawn as if i had died everytime i got to the bonfire, but then I read the rules and realised that each time was a 'level', could have been a bit clearer and also some indication of progression would be good to increase motivation, like the score is how many nights you survived and a ramp up in difficulty. Art style was interesting as a mixture of pixel art and tweened animations, was quite atmospheric with the wind sounds and the rain. Pretty good job for 48hrs but i guess for this style of game you sort of need the crafting etc. you didn't have time for to add more depth to the gameplay.

I like the visuals and the audio. I wish that movement would a bit more stiff. All in all, great entry!
Привет! Поиграл в игру и у меня немного противоречивые ощущения.
Игра выполнена хорошо: есть музыка, хоть и простая; звуковые эффекты, мало, но в тему; есть меню; есть правила и предыстория, а сама игра работает стабильно. Пиксель арт и анимации отличные, для combo думаю очень круто.
Но дальше у меня идут проблемы, первая это то, что я сделал 4-е забега до костра и не понял, насколько далеко продвинулся к финалу. Из-за чего цель игры не понятна. Также, мне кажется, тема джема немного притянута, но это вообще не критично. Боевка мне напомнила Dark Souls или Mount & Blade, приходится очень сильно изворачиваться, чтобы победить. В общем драться со скелетами практически сразу перестал, только убегал, очень рискованно это и скелетов очень много на уровне. Передвижение игрока еще ощущается медленным и очень не хватало способности "рывка", чтобы ускориться, но это больше пожелания. И еще хотел добавить, что межбуквенный интервал в разделе Rules словно поехал и читаться тяжело.
Как понимаю уровни генерируются процедурно? За это отдельный респект. Сам хотел сделать процедурную генерацию, но т.к. это был мой первый джем, то на такой шаг не решился, очень классно наблюдать, когда кто-то другой на такое решается. Еще заметил, что есть ролик о разработке игры - здорово, пойду смотреть. Посмотрел и хочу сказать, что мне понравился, достойный контент, а с учетом, что на русском о Ludum Dare наверно не так уж много, то вообще отличный и уникальный. Поздравляю с участием в джеме!

The rain and pixel art worked really well together for a nice atmosphere. I did wish that you could do stuff with the resources and gold, and the movement was pretty slow.
Игра выглядит и звучит довольно приятно, неплохой результат для джема. Немного напрягает "желейное" передвижение, все происходит очень медленно, к тому же большая часть ударов не регистрируется, хотя топор находится прямо в противнике. Не очень понял зачем нужны монетки, видимо эта механика просто не до конца реализована. В любом случае хорошая работа!
really good sound effects with great pixel art and level design. enjoyed playing.
