What a cool idea!! Is the character constantly accelerating? It became REALLY fast :)

elmando2333 2021-04-26 01:49

@pixelportalz Thank you for coming to experience my game! Yes, I keep the background constantly accelerating to create the feeling of falling characters.

dmitry-mozgin 2021-04-26 02:17

I like the idea that you're constantly accelerating, control the character and at the same time read notes. It gives uncertain feeling and it's interesting!

elmando2333 2021-04-26 02:30

@dmitry-mozgin Thank you for coming to experience my game! It is a little difficult to control the falling edge and continue the dialogue, which can create a little tension.

This is a super cool idea for a game! I'm... not sure I like the execution much, though. You can't see droplets as they come up, so it's hard to line yourself up. And because you're not controlling the character (just their direction), I didn't feel like I had enough agency or control to actually go get those memory drops.

The effects and art are good, though. And like I say, the idea is super neat.

@seafishelle Thank you for your advice! You're right. It's really a problem. I also have the same trouble playing by myself. I will try to change the method of character movement to see if it can make the operation more smooth.

This was a cool concept for the jam! I don't think the execution was great though. The game doesn't get harder so it gets boring really quickly. If the walls slowly moved in or there were collectables that got rid of memory drops you already had, it would feel like there was some progression.

elmando2333 2021-04-26 02:57

@luciddh Thank you for experiencing my game! You're right. I've thought about realizing these functions, but my technical level is not very good. I will take your advice and continue to develop the game in the future. Thanks again for your advice!

I liked it, how you told a story. A bug I found was that if the space bar was pressed repeatedly after the intended dialogue, strange characters would pop up (at least on the web version).

hestrateja 2021-04-26 03:19

@elmando2333 If you pass the center of the earth, you are not going deeper anymore, the game's theme is only half correct xD

elmando2333 2021-04-26 04:04

@hestrateja You are right, there is indeed a reverse ascent in the novel. If I have more time later, I will try to achieve it

elmando2333 2021-04-26 04:07

@choppers Thank you for experiencing my game!I will look for and fix this bug, every suggestion you have is a great help to me!

23333 Really interesting game. The sci-fi novel Earth Canon really fit the theme.

bkelly 2021-04-26 23:10

I liked the story, it really kept me interested to keep playing. I think a good mechanic would be to only show bits of the story as you collect memory drops, to encourage players to get better and better each time.

elmando2333 2021-04-27 00:37

@bkelly That's a good idea!You are right.I will try to implement this function.Thank you!

scrawach 2021-04-28 19:55

Wow, very cool theme realization, i think. So small and cute history is very pretty! And dramatic. I got a dose of emotions. Cool.

yulotomorrow 2021-04-29 23:26

I think it's an interesting idea, but this game needs some kind of goal or motivation. I can just not controlling the character at all in this game and the game mechanism didn't prevent or punish me from doing this, while it's hard to see the point to collect the droplets. I read and liked some of Liu Cixin's work but not this one yet, I'm glad to see that you're trying to take inspiration from his work!

luthwyhn 2021-05-16 19:01

Really neat idea for a game; now I need to track down the story you based it on! :D

matthewrobo 2021-05-16 20:51

Neat game. I think having the background have such high contrast though was a little bit distracting as the acceleration piled up. A lower-contrast background might have looked less jarring.

Also, I think the direction should be a little bit faster and the camera should be a bit more zoomed out because some droplets seemed impossible to pick up.
