LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Celestial Corruption by godsboss 2021-04-26T16:59:40Z

I really like what you have here. Barring the sound (as you mentioned), I think a few simple animations would go far, such as making the player/enemies flash red when taking damage or scrolling/looping the background to give the illusion of movement. I enjoyed the atmosphere set by the tone and graphics. When dying, the text

> "At least your pitiful failure will be forgotten as well"

made me lol.

Dice Explorer by Solah 2021-04-27T17:12:26Z

This is an excellent little puzzle game. I love the mechanics and the sound and art fit very well. You did a good job keeping the scope reasonable, but feature rich. My only issue is that the first time I fought an enemy, I thought the screen froze because it isn't immediately obvious that you have to spend dice to attack. This could easily be offset by making the dice flash (or outlining them) the first time you enter combat. Excellent work, I really enjoyed your game.

Strange Platinum by Poorwill 2021-04-26T16:48:42Z

This is pretty fun as-is, but I see a lot of potential. The only thing I feel that is sorely missing are simple sound effects. A simple beep when placing cards or a boop when a miner dies would go a long ways. The execution was really smooth and figuring out how to play was very intuitive. I think that with just a _little_ extra time this game could be really great!

The Deep Web by William Corrin 2021-04-26T23:22:53Z

This is a pretty impressive showing for such little time! The art direction was pretty good. I liked how neon everything was, but the little particle explosion might have been my favorite part (I don't know why, just was). The controls did feel a little slippery to me, even with the drifting, but I was playing on the web version, so that might factor in quite a bit. Nice work!

Outer by kristinamay 2021-04-26T02:29:04Z

I really like the execution here. The game is quite fun and the humor is *on point*. I'd love the game to be a bit more punishing though. The addition of random events (such as "robbed by space pirates" or "fuel tank sprung a leak") would add some unpredictability and given the excellently written content that's already here, I can only imagine the awesome scenarios you'd think up!

DO NOT INSERT INSIDE THE EAR CANAL!!! by cheesepencil 2021-04-26T03:41:46Z

Not bad for only 4 hours spent! The sound effects were on point and the absurdity of the gameplay reminded me of Warioware.

Through The Crust by sweer 2021-04-26T02:38:12Z

Honestly, I dig it. The controls are very simplistic, but they're more fluid than you'd expect. Nice work on the graphics and sound, they fit the gameplay very well.

Sleepwalker by Duncan 3 2021-04-26T03:18:11Z

This was _extremely_ well executed. The Inception level of "you need go deeper" mechanic was very well thought out and the puzzles were great as well. The only change I would make would be to move the "wake up" button away from the "sleep" button (`x` and `z` respectively). I accidentally hit "wake up" more times than I care to admit. I got through all the puzzles after a few "ah ha!"s and it left me wishing for more. Nice work.

HYPERTUBE 3021 by Ben Taylor 2021-04-26T03:47:34Z

This was quite fun! The parallax effect in the tunnel was well executed and the music reminded me of Bit.Trip. Finally getting to hyperspeed and thinking I beat the game, only to be greeted by level 2 was a nice surprise. My only note would be to throw less items at the player in the first level, so they can get to level 2 faster and realize that there's more game to play!

Bat and Spider Cavern by Greg the Egg 2021-04-26T02:55:12Z

Not a bad little game. I like the art of tile and enemies, but I feel like the "AI" could be a tad smarter. You can go for a _long_ time without any game interaction. My average run without moving or shooting is around 44 seconds. Even something as simple as increasing the enemy density the further you go would go a long way. I also _really_ liked the idea of the level getting darker the further you go.

The Internet by LukeyDev 2021-04-26T03:32:50Z

I liked the simple, but well placed graphics. It felt very "early internet", which worked out in its favor. All it needs are a few "spank the monkey" flash ads and some Newgrounds logos to complete the illusion. A few small changes would go far here. Adding an indication that a virus was damaged and extending the bullet's range a tad would do a lot for the gameplay.

Not The Urchins! by Cammin 2021-04-27T16:50:37Z

The premise is simple, but well executed. One thing I liked was how the stars make the entire level brighter for a time, rather than extending your vision to the max. I think a little extra difficulty the longer you go would be a welcome addition. Maybe something like the darkness closing in faster or perhaps limiting the max field of view the deeper you go. The background music fit the vibe very well - a great example of "less is more".

Earth Cannon地球大炮 by Elmando2333 2021-04-26T23:10:28Z

I liked the story, it really kept me interested to keep playing. I think a good mechanic would be to only show bits of the story as you collect memory drops, to encourage players to get better and better each time.

Deepr Diver by Vitor Figueredo 2021-04-26T02:45:09Z

I _love_ the Game & Watch style graphics, they really stick out (in a good way). The gameplay is seems a lot like a vertical "flappy bird", which unfortunately isn't really my cup of tea. Despite that, the controls were pretty fluid after I got used to them, which is honestly more than I can say of flappy bird itself, and it was pretty fun overall.
