Really well done. Great style.
Incredibly polished for a jam entry!! I saw 2 people were listed, did you create all the art and music yourselves as well??
Amazing graphics! Congrats!
Wow. So much content here for a jam game. You basically built two separate games and put them together. Incredible.
This is a very complete game for a jam. I do feel the main loop of gathering stuff on the map maybe outstays its welcome because it takes a while but it seems like it wants you to do it a lot and the mobs aren't really a threat (actually they can be used to glitch into the walls for 1hp).
Incredibly good game i really enjoyed playing it, but i wanna point out a few things that kind of annoyed me while playing, i dont know if they're intended or not but if you make a game in the future (i would gladly play it because this is awesome too) you could pay attention to these details.
First off - i dont know if i'm blind or didnt pay enough attention but i never where can i find some type of resource and always died on the first night at the start because i started with like -2 water. Then - I sometimes spawned in to an exploration with really nowwhere to go, i was surrounded by walls and had no resources to take with me and that was kind of annoying and other times i only had like the half of the map because of the map generation
Other than these awesome game and i really liked it
This seems like a super fun game, unfortunately I'm frequently encountering a bug where when I try to move on the overworld map, I don't stop at the tile I'm moving to and instead go zooming off the map. I'm playing the game on Firefox if that is relevant (update it also happens on Chromium).
@michaell Yep - I made all the art and music and writing and bkelly made the code.
@--0 That's so weird - I haven't been able to repro that bug. Could you outline specific steps that you take to repro the bug? Does it happen reliably?
@greenpig I'm sorry to hear that! Do you mean you can't find any water resources? Or do you mean that your starting water is really low?
It's nice to see another Phaser game! I'm sincerely impressed at how many mechanics you fit into the game, and the polish on top of that is really excellent.
The only problem I had was not being able to reach some resources because they spawned in an inaccessible area of the map. I'll try out the wall clip @ruruie mentioned. :)
@mwcz @rurie I feel like we've made it when people start figuring out ways to cheese the game.
@kristinamay both tbh but the starting level wouldn't be a big problem if I'd know where to search for water.
@greenpig When you get to a tile, you can (usually) hit "explore" on it to find resources (and dodge bad guys). Desert tiles have much lower rate of water spawning, though.
Yes thank you i've figured it out @kristinamay i was just saying that when i first opened the game it posed a problem but thank you:))
Awesome entry, great visuals. Gameplay loop was interesting and unique, but it took me a couple failed attempts to really understand what I was doing. After adjustment, was fun!
Very nice, the sound design fits an alien world, I like the different creatures and biomes in place, impressive what you guys have done in 3 days, only critique is the gameplay started to feel like a chore after a while. Otherwise a great game and good take on the theme.
This is a really nice game, I wouldn't assume its for a jam and the fact that it was made with compo rules is even more impressive. I like these type of games, and the randomly generated worlds has a warm place in my heart. That's a great entry, well done!
Works really well - nice flow and transitions. Art is great and gets the point across - love the little lizards. A lot of depth for a weekend jam game! You should be stoked on the final product :)
Interesting take on theme. Ambitios mechanic. But learning curve make things complicated. Great work! Btw some spacing problem. Game is higher than my default size tab. Untitled.jpg
Wow, really well done. This has some serious potential. Keep it up!
I can't really add on top of others here, nicely done for the time that was available! Weirdly enough quite a lot of immersion and a lot of effort went into this. It has a lot of potential, you may want to continue on this after the jam ^^
Edit: I looked at both of your other games, really like the look of them =)
A very nice entry. I got very immersed in exploring an alien world. Exploring around the planet and around the individual hexes was really nice. I encountered a bug where if you die and restart in the same session you keep the resources from the previous game, meaning I started with negative water.
Congrats on your submission! Some thoughts:
* It wasn't clear to me why I was collecting those resources. Maybe add a warning saying "you will lose the game if you don't collect X". Ah or even better, make the resource counts drop down with an animation and sound and make them go blinking red. I guess it was written on the page below the game but I didn't read it until now :) * Really cool hex based exploration. Loved that part of the game. * Nice atmosphere with the music and story. * I guess the monster part was a bit repetitive but I'm sure you would have added different movement patters and attacks with more time :)
Great result, much enjoyed playing it. Visuals are awesome as well as sound design and music.
not enough time in the day to explore this vast universe. Well done!
I like the multi-play style with the scanning and exploring options to break up the game play. Pretty crazy what can be accomplished in a weekend!
This game is great! I love the depth to it and the multiple play mechanics. You are right, our games were very similar in many ways!
Your game reminds me of the old Star Control 2 game, one where you kept driving around planets grabbing resources and avoiding aliens.
I really like your art, audio, and overall design. I would *love* to play a bigger version of this game and it's one of the LD50 games I plan to play many more times as-is. Good job.
This is such a cool game, and feels super complete and fleshed out for a jam! The visuals and audio really sell the story, and the story and mechanics are very immersive. Only annoyance I ran into was not being able to get to certain open areas with resources during explorations, but maybe that was intentional. Super small detail, but I loved that the enemies had squares around them while the resources had circles. It made it much easier to tell what you should go after and what you should avoid at the beginning.
This is really good! Kinda give me Starflight vibes! I could see the exploring be a bit more dangerous
This was great! I didn't click explore the first few trips and then when I did, I discovered a whole new game! Then I obviously had to play again...and again...thanks, I think? Solid gameplay loop, nicely done :D
Absolutely crazy amount of work! Super cool design, thumbs up!
A Phaser game! Also in TypeScript! +1 stars from me just for that! I think this is my favorite game that I've played so far. Very appealing art, and the game seems very very well polished. My only feedback is to disable the tile tool-tips when the cursor is over a dialog window. It overlaps tile tooltip like "unknown region" overlaps the dialog text window. But that is the only thing I noticed. Amazing game! Great work to your whole team!
Really nice game! Graphics and audio was great and it had a strong connection to the theme. Well done!
Nice graphics, looks like an interesting idea at first, but i didnt get the idea completely. What do we do. What is the main goal. but overall nice game with cool art
Cool game
The amount of content here is definitely impressive. I think it may have been too much for a jam game though. I really would have liked more HUD indicators for status, such as health, remaining energy, whether I've picked up everything while exploring, etc. I didn't play it for too long as I don't really have a lot of time to play these games (which is partly why I think this may have been too much for a jam game). What I did play was cool, and definitely impressed me on the amount of different mechanics the game has.
So good! The fact that you did both a strategy and an action layer is very impressive. This game is huge! I loved the different biomes, and the fact they each had their own soundtrack was awesome. The exploration movement was fun, and it always felt doable to avoid the enemies, while still being a challenge. Fantastic job!
