Really fun! Loved the music, very 80s retrowave mood. Was a little difficult to see ahead of myself because the player person blocked the screen but I still played multiple times. Nice job

The bit of back story at the beginning is brilliant. Draws you in. Then when you hit Hyper speed it's so awesome! Second play through I got hit a lot more, but I almost liked it better, awesome animations and graphics on the spins, etc. Loved it. Thanks for making it!

This was quite fun! The parallax effect in the tunnel was well executed and the music reminded me of Bit.Trip. Finally getting to hyperspeed and thinking I beat the game, only to be greeted by level 2 was a nice surprise. My only note would be to throw less items at the player in the first level, so they can get to level 2 faster and realize that there's more game to play!

@drewstillwell @doc-kaos Thanks so much!

cheesepencil 2021-04-26 03:49

while it would have been helpful to have a visual indicator how close i was to the wall, this is a solid compo entry!

I liked the infinite faller concept where simply hitting an obstacle isn't a hard game end! Going for speed was also another nice change up! I do with the player model eventually returned to a full downward face as other wise it was hard to see if it was in the wrong position with no way to control it. Still really good!

ben-taylor 2021-04-26 04:02

@bkelly Thanks! I definitely tweaked difficulty in a few different ways and haven't landed on something I love.

@cheesepencil Haha, thanks! I really like flat colours but could probably have gone a little bit of shadow and texture in there.

@turkey Cheers! Yeah I ended up running out of time to sort out the character and the camera. Would have liked better camera and a ragdoll character that re-orients.

Cool game. I think the obstacles/walls should be colored to indicate danger, maybe red. At first I tried to get them. I think that you can hit things and not instantly lose, very fun.

I've made it to the level 3 and had a lot fun. I would highlight the music and sound effects, that really helped with the mood. I would appreciate some indicator how close you are to the wall before you hit it and the character definitely gets in a way sometimes.

Thanks @rhoff95 and @listonos! Very helpful feedback.

Nice game, I liked to play it.

As said before, the fact that the character sometimes hides the traps is a bit frustrating.

Sounds, Music and Camerashake work well together and give the player a feeling, when the warp is about to happen. Since, as already mentioned by a couple of people, it's a bit hard to see everything and know how far the wall is away, I thought that maybe the sounds could help on that as well. Maybe some high pitch before colliding with something... These are just my thoughts. Anyway, well done.

redspine 2021-04-26 16:21

The sound design ! WOOOOW

ariorick 2021-04-26 16:22

Hyper speed effect and level transitions are cool, game is pretty fun averall. Somewhat similar to my game, i think i would benefit from different sections too

joonamo 2021-04-26 19:24

Great arcade experience, simple and fun concept! The screen shake and intensifying music created a very immersive experience. The game also worked AMAZING on an ultra wide monitor, I bet this game would be incredible on VR set.

Only complaint I have is that I had to click on the retry button, hitting space or enter would have been better. All in all great job!

chensu 2021-04-26 23:06

Really cool artstyle :):) Love the block effect you went for. Love the UI

ben-taylor 2021-04-27 00:12

@loig Thanks heaps!

@acdia A proximity noise is a really good idea, would help assist in being more intuitively reactive.

@redspine Thanks!!

@ariorick Cheers, I'll check out your game!

@joonamo Thanks! Yeah I was testing it in the little unity player for ages, then first time I played it full screen WOW.

@chensu Thanks for playing!

Solid entry, I wish the character were smaller so I could see what's coming ahead better. Really enjoyed the hyperspeed mechanic. The audio is great too.

brandon-garcia 2021-04-27 02:40

This was fun! I wish the character would recover its position after a period of time after getting hit. I like the audio and overall feel!
