LD27 — 10 Seconds

The First Odyssey by davisan 2013-08-26T21:32:00

I liked the art and environments, although the size of the character compared to the game window size makes it hard to get a sense of where you are. I got lost in the castle of countless platforms. I like the ability to shoot in multiple directions, and the triple shot is cool, but the arrows move rather slowly, especially considering that the character can move faster than them. But I can certainly see a lot of work went into this. A good foundation if you plan to build on it. Good use of the theme too.

10 sec. Fast Beef by Alexander Ponomariov 2013-08-27T12:12:00

So very disturbing, but a well made game. Graphics are sharp and the atmosphere is effective.

Time Ball! by mort96 2013-08-27T12:44:00

There's a great sense of speed here, although I sadly lack the skill to react quickly enough to avoid falling into the stuff before I can reverse time. A cool concept and the random level generation is a good thing, so you can't beat it by memorising.

And of course, thanks for watching the stream. I'm surprised you found the time to make an entry and watch mine being made.

Inversion by mutuware 2013-08-27T20:41:00

Really cool concept. A very challenging puzzle game that requires some lateral thinking. Or should I say longitudinal thinking?

Solitude by rxi 2013-08-28T15:06:00

Absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere is so powerful and I wanted to keep going until I found all the notes. Never expected a LD game to affect me emotionally, but it did. Very well done.

GitGirl - Conflict Resolver by ddionisio 2013-08-26T20:54:00

A quite challenging platform game. Controls are tight and the jumping is tricky but manageable. The gravity changing is a nice mechanic.

I like the character. Anyone who carries a bomb on her head is badass. Graphics are wonderful and the music is most pleasing. It was a bit short with two levels and it would be great to see it expanded on.

Short Nightmares by Martin_Monosys 2013-08-26T21:02:00

I couldn't figure out what to do on the fourth night, but certainly a very creepy and unusual approach to this theme. I liked it. The flat textures were a bit weird, but that kind of fits the surreal dreamlike atmosphere. Would be nice to see this idea expanded on.

Slime Quest by drkrunk 2013-08-27T12:22:00

Cool concept and lovely graphics. Too hard for me but I'm not the best at puzzle platform type games.

Firefly by kidder 2013-08-27T21:57:00

This is actually very sweet. The innocence and simple goodness of the character is appealing. Nice pixel art too and a very nice mood.

Blind Feed by mackthehobbit 2013-08-27T20:34:00

Good use of the theme and a fairly challenging game. I found a good strategy is to click frequently for short periods, almost flickering.

You had one job by stewthepoo 2013-08-27T12:25:00

A most amusing idea for a game. It seemed like the timing were a bit off. I'm sure I got some of them right that were caught as fails, but I didn't mind much because it was funnier to give the poor guy electric shocks XD Very nice cartoony graphics too.

Blinking by Anoarith 2013-08-28T11:04:00

Cool concept but I lack the platforming reflexes to get very far.

SpaceSwitch by truiton 2013-08-28T11:01:00

Really cool concept and a very tricky platformer. Too hard for me though :)

Deka Sektor by Nega Drive 2013-08-27T21:36:00

Very cool. I love the pseudo-twin stick control method and it controls very well. The concept of using the time as your health and having it replenished by killing enemies and decreased by being hit is brilliant. The aesthetic is very nice too. Crisp and colourful and the sound is great too.

Missile Mayhem by JLeybovich 2013-08-27T21:22:00

Very cool. Snazzy graphics and a wicked soundtrack. Riding a missile is always awesome.

Adventures of Schrodinger's cat by Cryunreal 2013-08-27T17:22:00

This is wonderful. I love the biro aesthetic and it's a great idea for a platformer. Very tricky though. I couldn't get past stage 11. Nicely done.

Origami Wings by team_cow 2013-08-28T10:40:00

That was absolutely beautiful, and addictive! I loved exploring that world. The reward of getting through each ring is getting to see more of it. So good. Love it.

Anti-Grav Drive by bnhw 2013-08-27T17:33:00

Holy cow that is addictive. The aesthetic is great too. Really clever idea. Wish I'd thought of it. Make this into a mobile game and sell it!

Black Hole Runner by MatrixBai 2013-08-28T10:48:00

Cool concept but I find it hard to avoid the asteroids at that speed. Some tweaking of the movement would be good.

Space Demolition by Suese by Suese 2013-08-26T20:26:00

A pretty nifty 2D shooter. Took me a few minutes to figure out what I was supposed to do, but once I did I found this game quite fun. I like that you can reverse while shooting, and shooting the terrain for resources is cool too. The resource management and inventory swapping was an interesting mechanic which made it more than just the shooting.

There was a minor bug in that the lives wasn't being reset when I played the second time, so I got negative lives. Not a big deal though. The pixel art is great and the sound is satisfying. Music was good but got repetitive after a while. Overall a most impressive job for 48 hours.

Self Destruct by Octopuns 2013-08-27T12:39:00

That was really cool. An effective puzzle platformer. Reminds me a bit of The Lost Vikings, with the characters each having their own unique ability. Graphics are minimalist but they work and the music is catchy.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Multidimensional Tube Linker by n42k 2014-08-26T13:06:00

Cool concept, fun and challenging. I got stuck on Criss Cross though. Couldn't figure out what to do. But I've never been very good at puzzle games.

Icecream and World Domination by KigurumiDevs 2014-08-26T12:55:00

Looks very nice and has some good strategy elements. The use of different weapon types against different planets and the choice of which to attack first creates a lot of possibilities for strategic play. Nicely done.

Knights of the Round Torus by madjackmcmad 2020-10-05T20:45:33Z

This is incredible work and tons of fun. The pixel art is gorgeous, the music is sweet, the gameplay is top notch. I salute your incredibleness!

oddpum by dietzribi 2020-10-05T23:01:19Z

Damn that is incredible work and a genius puzzle mechanic. I'm amazed that this was built in 3 days, with all the tracking of multiple timelines it requires. Most impressive. Great fun too! This is definitely something you could develop into a full game with more levels and stuff.

Minotaur's Labyrinth by JOrbits 2020-10-06T16:26:31Z

Very cool idea and I love the lighting effects. It must have been tricky to make the transitions so seamless. Great job!

Dreamin' Cat by Fockx 2020-10-05T20:29:09Z

That was brilliant! I really love the pixel art. The platforming is tight and responsive. The music and atmosphere are great. Excellent work!

Chamber by Pedro Medeiros 2020-10-05T23:23:54Z

A very feature rich and compelling game with great visuals. Amazing work! I wasn't able to beat it, but it wasn't unfair, I just suck XD

Crazy Trains by Falzock 2020-10-06T14:29:47Z

A really clever puzzle game that requires quick thinking and coordination. I managed to beat the third level with just over 10000. Great work!

Trajectory by KaisenTheGreatOne 2020-10-05T20:09:23Z

Great concept and very tricky! It was like threading a needle. Couldn't finish it, but it was fun.

Doc Miau and the Failed LD47Jam by Akronsus 2020-10-05T20:01:15Z

That's too bad, looks like it could have been interesting. Any plans to finish it post-deadline?

WhileTrue by ArthurDDev 2020-10-05T19:53:49Z

I am terrible at puzzle games, but this quite a clever design. Took me a minute to realise the commands would loop. The music didn't seem to loop though, which was a shame because the music was nice.

Escape Velokitty by JimMakesGames 2020-10-05T19:09:46Z

@gamedev-and-architecture I think the problem is that I used the FixedUpdate method to calculate the gravity, and so the gravity will be stronger at higher frame rates. This was an oversight on my part. I've updated it with a fix to hopefully correct this.

Escape Velokitty by JimMakesGames 2020-10-05T20:19:03Z

@gamedev-and-architecture Thanks! Glad you enjoyed :D

Escape Velokitty by JimMakesGames 2020-10-05T21:58:40Z

@axeltherabbit it's definitely hard to predict where your ship will go. I think an improvement that could be made is showing how your trajectory will change on ejecting a piece of junk. Thanks for your feedback.

Escape Velokitty by JimMakesGames 2020-10-06T12:21:20Z

@pizzasgood Ah yes KSP veterans will definitely have an advantage here. @nickpofig Thanks! Yeah some asteroids flying in would have been cool I agree.

Escape Velokitty by JimMakesGames 2020-10-06T17:05:43Z

@kruemelkeksfan haha, I think the game would benefit from a way to see how your trajectory would change from each ejection.

Escape Velokitty by JimMakesGames 2020-10-08T12:31:00Z

@dmitry-mozgin I think the game could definitely use some better visual feedback, like showing how the ship's trajectory will change on ejection of an object. As @vildanix says, having played KSP helps a lot with the intuition about when and how to eject. Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you likes the vibes :D

Punpkin Loops by FreddyTurbina 2020-10-05T19:39:12Z

Controls are responsive, art is nice and the music is sweet. The motion blur on the platforms is a bit hard on my eyes though. I couldn't make it very far I'm afraid though.

Press the Buttons by FluffyGameDev 2020-10-05T19:46:31Z

That was great and really innovative! The voice acting made it really fun. Better plot than Lost.
