LD26 — Minimalism

Hatchet by mackthehobbit 2013-04-29T04:13:00

The web link should be working again.

Hatchet by mackthehobbit 2013-04-29T04:27:00

That's very strange, the web version seems to work fine for me. What browser and java version are you using?
Maybe try downloading the jar.

Hatchet by mackthehobbit 2013-04-29T09:40:00

There, the web version *should* actually work properly now.

Hatchet by mackthehobbit 2013-04-29T11:53:00

To use the shops, you use the item you want to sell when facing the trader. They only buy certain items(Butcher-meat etc.) If you use an empty slot, you can buy items or trade resources.
Thanks for the complements guys, and I did realise the game did get a bit too grindy in the end. I would have preferred to have gotten a few more features in that varied the gameplay more, but sadly I didn't get to.

Hatchet by mackthehobbit 2013-05-01T11:14:00

Thanks, I did try to get at least a tiny bit of humour into the game :)

Hatchet by mackthehobbit 2013-05-02T08:55:00

That's very strange, it works for me again. Maybe some OSes or browsers don't like it?

Minimal Run by calimeraw 2013-05-12T11:49:00

Pretty good, I like that game mechanic. Definitely fits the theme quite well.

Murder On The Dancefloor by CustomPhase 2013-08-26T12:42:00

Amazing, absolutely loved the game. The art was awesome, and I loved the music!

Blind Feed by mackthehobbit 2013-08-27T13:49:00

Thanks for the comments, it's great to hear some feedback :)

Blind Feed by mackthehobbit 2013-08-29T13:08:00

Thanks for the feedback guys :) And as for a post-compo update goes, I'd definitely consider it.

Streaker 2013 by ashdnazg 2013-08-26T12:23:00

Haha, a very humourous game, liked the take to the theme.

Low Memory by wrongcoder 2013-08-26T12:18:00

Awesome game, loved the concept. Just about the best entry I've played so far.

I Need The Cheese or I Will Die by JimMakesGames 2013-08-26T12:08:00

Watched a lot of the stream, looks like it came together very well in the end. I'm glad you didn't aim too far and get a head of yourself.

Self Destruct by Octopuns 2013-08-26T12:53:00

Nice entry, loved the unique link to the theme. The art was definitely awesome, and it was fun to play! The only annoying part was the restart key going back to before the level intro, but apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed it!

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Infinidig by mackthehobbit 2014-04-28T11:34:00

It hasn't been too loud for me, although I tend to have my volume quite low. The sound isn't too great anyways :P

Gravedigger by Kulomin 2014-04-28T07:13:00

Your haiku is one syllable too long (if it is a haiku, that is...)

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Very Hungry SNAKE by boddiul 2015-12-14T06:00:00

I liked this one a fair bit. The controls are hard at first, but you get used to them. There didn't seem to be much challenge though, even running into your own tail doesn't hurt you or end the game (also, after going for a while, the GUI continued on but the level stopped scrolling... I don't know what happened there)

Harvest by rxi 2015-12-14T08:53:00

Surprisingly fun and fast-paced. Love the art, the sound and music is moody. Died quickly in my first run but ended up surviving perpetually (?) on my second. The scrolling was very jittery, which was a bit irritating.

Chaintanks by ProjectX593 2015-12-14T12:58:00

Possibly the most fun entry I've seen so far. It's like snake, but with tanks! What an absolute masterpiece.

Snowball Extravaganza by mackthehobbit 2015-12-14T07:15:00

Thanks for the feedback! I've just done the first test in a browser other than Chrome (Firefox) and noticed some terrible graphical issues. I'm trying to fix that up now...

Snowball Extravaganza by mackthehobbit 2015-12-14T07:32:00

Ok; the worst of Firefox's issues are fixed, but I think the background scrolling seems more clunky (which I won't be able to fix). Any reports on IE/Safari? I suspect IE will have stitching issues etc. too.

Snowball Extravaganza by mackthehobbit 2015-12-14T12:05:00

Unfortunately, there is no audio. I was going to add some BFXR sounds ('whump' for snow etc) and a quick chiptune, but I didn't get time. I spent a lot of the weekend doing other stuff, and I only started adding towers 45 minutes or so before the deadline...
@wuppy29 Houses will show wear in the form of snow on the roof and walls. If you're big enough, you can also roll straight over them.

Snowball Extravaganza by mackthehobbit 2015-12-14T13:05:00

All this positive feedback (and some problems I'm aware of :P) makes me want to update this post-LD. I think it could do well on mobile: I was thinking there could be different game modes.

Survival would be like the current game, but more difficult and focused on not dying. Sandbox (or snowbox) would just be rolling around and achieving hilarity, and there'd be an endless mode based on getting distance too (maybe down hills?)

It'd be a complete rewrite of course, but could be fun!

qBen by smealum 2015-12-14T06:03:00

I watched the stream for a while, unfortunately I can't seem to run this properly. Nothing renders in either the tutorial or the game, except for the background (I can hear the music and sound effects fine too)

Moo.F.O. by Maxr00 2015-12-14T13:12:00

Funny, adorable game. Fantastic controls, nice sleepy music... great mood.

Seeds of Sky by Nanolotl 2015-12-14T06:33:00

I liked this a fair bit, and the art is fantastic! The idea is pretty unique, but takes too long to actually get anywhere - being able to break a tile while in the air would make progress a lot quicker. And the goat is absolutely busted ;)

Seedball by onilink_ 2015-12-14T11:02:00

Tricky, but unique puzzle game. I liked the art!

Bitrun by Devark 2015-12-14T05:52:00

Love the art, and it's pretty fun! There might be post-LD potential if you wanted to port it to a mobile platform (think about it: online high scores, skins buyable with bitgold, IAP for coins...).

Castle Hassle by realbogart 2015-12-14T12:29:00

I would have loved more levels.

BEAR by graceavery 2015-12-14T06:08:00

@siege I think the slow movement is just so you have time to get your bearings.

Hello Darkness by jcmonkey 2015-12-14T10:41:00

Simple but effective puzzle type of game. The music was nice and dungeon-y, although it got repetitive. The shadow effect made it feel a bit spooky: good job!

Balanced Diet by ciobeni 2015-12-14T12:45:00

This was quite fun, and really challenging. I liked the derpy face!

Cube Wars by Chubb1337 2015-12-14T07:51:00

This game was pretty good, has an arcade-y feel to it. The controls were a little awkward. Graphics are simple, but really nice!

PlantBoy by siObyte 2015-12-14T05:26:00

Glad to see how this turned out! It's not really fun to play, but it's awesome that you got something functional writing just assembly. Great job!

Run Forest by WilpelMakeGames 2015-12-14T06:18:00

This was pretty nice, but got a bit repetitive. The shadow effect around the edge of the screen was pretty.
