That's very strange, the web version seems to work fine for me. What browser and java version are you using?
Maybe try downloading the jar.
There, the web version *should* actually work properly now.
To use the shops, you use the item you want to sell when facing the trader. They only buy certain items(Butcher-meat etc.) If you use an empty slot, you can buy items or trade resources.
Thanks for the complements guys, and I did realise the game did get a bit too grindy in the end. I would have preferred to have gotten a few more features in that varied the gameplay more, but sadly I didn't get to.
Thanks, I did try to get at least a tiny bit of humour into the game :)
That's very strange, it works for me again. Maybe some OSes or browsers don't like it?
Pretty good, I like that game mechanic. Definitely fits the theme quite well.
Amazing, absolutely loved the game. The art was awesome, and I loved the music!
Thanks for the comments, it's great to hear some feedback :)
Thanks for the feedback guys :) And as for a post-compo update goes, I'd definitely consider it.
Haha, a very humourous game, liked the take to the theme.
Awesome game, loved the concept. Just about the best entry I've played so far.
Watched a lot of the stream, looks like it came together very well in the end. I'm glad you didn't aim too far and get a head of yourself.
Nice entry, loved the unique link to the theme. The art was definitely awesome, and it was fun to play! The only annoying part was the restart key going back to before the level intro, but apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed it!
It hasn't been too loud for me, although I tend to have my volume quite low. The sound isn't too great anyways :P
Your haiku is one syllable too long (if it is a haiku, that is...)
I liked this one a fair bit. The controls are hard at first, but you get used to them. There didn't seem to be much challenge though, even running into your own tail doesn't hurt you or end the game (also, after going for a while, the GUI continued on but the level stopped scrolling... I don't know what happened there)
Possibly the most fun entry I've seen so far. It's like snake, but with tanks! What an absolute masterpiece.
Thanks for the feedback! I've just done the first test in a browser other than Chrome (Firefox) and noticed some terrible graphical issues. I'm trying to fix that up now...
Ok; the worst of Firefox's issues are fixed, but I think the background scrolling seems more clunky (which I won't be able to fix). Any reports on IE/Safari? I suspect IE will have stitching issues etc. too.
Unfortunately, there is no audio. I was going to add some BFXR sounds ('whump' for snow etc) and a quick chiptune, but I didn't get time. I spent a lot of the weekend doing other stuff, and I only started adding towers 45 minutes or so before the deadline...
@wuppy29 Houses will show wear in the form of snow on the roof and walls. If you're big enough, you can also roll straight over them.
All this positive feedback (and some problems I'm aware of :P) makes me want to update this post-LD. I think it could do well on mobile: I was thinking there could be different game modes.
Survival would be like the current game, but more difficult and focused on not dying. Sandbox (or snowbox) would just be rolling around and achieving hilarity, and there'd be an endless mode based on getting distance too (maybe down hills?)
It'd be a complete rewrite of course, but could be fun!
I liked this a fair bit, and the art is fantastic! The idea is pretty unique, but takes too long to actually get anywhere - being able to break a tile while in the air would make progress a lot quicker. And the goat is absolutely busted ;)
I would have loved more levels.
@siege I think the slow movement is just so you have time to get your bearings.
Simple but effective puzzle type of game. The music was nice and dungeon-y, although it got repetitive. The shadow effect made it feel a bit spooky: good job!
This was quite fun, and really challenging. I liked the derpy face!
This was pretty nice, but got a bit repetitive. The shadow effect around the edge of the screen was pretty.
