such a simple yet cute and effective game
@marc-cacho thanks so much, I really appreciate it
A small, beautiful, cozy game! I really like pastel tones and the art, models and small animations. Looks very polished. I also like that you've added notes. Maybe only the theme of the jam is not fully developed. Well done!
@dmitry-mozgin thanks! Yeah, I ended up really abstract on the theme, I started down a road that kept swerving. Thanks for playing
Such a cute simple little game! The aesthetic is so cool and the music is awesome. I loved the main character. It was a little hard to tell what I was supposed to do at first but after some exploring figured it out. The graphics are amazing I can't believe how much you achieved in 48 hours!
What a beautiful submission, I wish i could have panned the camera. Very well done, it was such a chill and cute little experience.
Wow. The graphics are absolutely phenomenal given the amount of time for this competition...I am thoroughly impressed.
The gameplay leaves something to be desired, however i understand thats not really what you were going for! Really beautiful game.
@lordmiji Thanks! I almost made it so you could move the camera, I just ran into issues and kept it simple. Thanks for playing!
@william-corrin Thank you. Yeah, I had a hard time with the theme and kept changing the plan as I went. But I learned a lot and that's what I came for. I really appreciate the feedback, glad you enjoyed it
I really liked this! Did you randomly generate the level layout each time? I killed myself after getting the 3 notes and it cleared their progress bar but still opened the exit and wouldn't let me pick up more. The "e" also never went away after it appeared the first time. The look of this is great and was relaxing as promised! Well done.
@neonjeff Yep, the level is randomly generated. I caught the 'e' bug right after submitting but didnt catch the other one. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing
Really nice job on the light bake and camera work. The depth of field adds a lot and overall the game is very beautiful. The music complements it as well. Nice work!
@morphine Thanks for playing :heart_eyes:
Charming! The audio and graphics carry this far beyond what the gameplay offers and turns an otherwise simple premise into a experience worth having. Well done!
I would tweak the controls to have WASD match the world up, left, down, right so players don't have to hold two keys to move in the cardinal world directions.
Beautiful interactive presentation of the poem. Could use level design to depict different sections of the poem and lead player through the experience more than blindly searching for the glowing beam. Great work!
Cute little world! It would have been nice to either have some small things for the player to interact with while walking, or to have a button that would allow the player to go faster, but there's only so much one can do with the jam's time constraints :) The depth of field also made me a little dizzy, so it would have been nice to have an option to turn it off. Other than that, super relaxing with neat visuals! Also the fact that the level is randomly-generated is super cool :)
@harrison-dunn Great feedback, I appreciate it. I did really struggle with the gameplay on this one but glad you found it worthwhile. Thanks for playing!
@corbeng I love that idea, having each section change into what parts of the story you're getting as the player. Thanks so much for playing
@orbitalblueprint Thank you! Sorry about the depth of field making you dizzy. I did want to get more items and interactions in just had to cut scope. Hopefully I can keep going and expanding.
Cool! Very polished graphics!
Nice graphics. I also like the idea of reading one line of a poem like this. It makes you think more of each line, instead of reading it quickly, like you normally read text.
I am sorry. I really wanted to check out your game and rate it, but for some reason it wouldn't open on my laptop.
It shows the Unity Logo. then the chimes start to play, but I get no picture only the grey screen, and then I click a mouse button I get the "Application not responding" error.
Will try to check it out on the other computer when I get the chance...
Woah 5 stars for the graphics, a stunning professional looking game. In terms of gameplay there isn't much to go on, a short and relaxing walking sim that I enjoyed my time with.
@p0l4r Thanks! :smile:
@ristoretto Thanks, I'm glad you thought so. I appreciate you playing!
@hilvon Oh no, I'm super sorry to hear that! I know of a couple bugs but hadn't heard of it not being able to be opened. If you do end up trying and it doesn't work on your other machine please let me know, I'll look into it in the meantime.
Really nice looking. Impressive visuals and random generation for a short compo.
graphics and audio were fantastic, nailed a mood and had an adorable character. Not much to talk about gameplay wise, but that's fine as the mood solidified the game as a short experience rather than a game game. Fantastic work, The Icons saying how many books I saw was very good to have as well so I didnt get stuck when I came across the closed door!
Wow definitely the most beautiful Compo game I've seen so far!
The graphics in this game are seriously MIND BLOWING. Major props to you for creating such a beautiful game in only a few days! You should be proud of yourself. The gameplay was a little slow for my taste, but the overall feel was very calming, which I really appreciate. Keep up the amazing work!
@rhoff95 Thank you, means a lot
@ilprinny Thanks for playing! It is really much more of a relaxing place to hang out for sure. I appreciate the feedback.
@weirdybeardyman Wow, that really does mean a lot, thank you for playing
@alec I appreciate the comment, I struggled to find where I wanted to go with gameplay but I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Really motivating
Really good looking visuals!
I love this! So, so stylish and beautiful. The graphic design is fantastic, too. I'm also really glad to see someone using Unity's HDRP and showing off what you can do with the graphics. Gameplay is simple and contemplative, and lets the visuals stand out. Amazingly well done!
As others have made clear already, this game is visually phenomenal for the time it was made in. Not only for the use of Unity's fancy rendering pipeline either, it has a great thematic vibe to it and I really dig the simple little character and his bouncy movements.
Obviously the actual game aspect itself is pretty simplistic, but even so it feels good all together. For people into the "walking simulator" type games this could already easily expand into something really good, or I think making it a fairly relaxed game with puzzle elements could also work extremely well. I would totally play a game with that little guy pushing things around or activating switches or whatever to progress.
Beautiful work!
Simple, yet beautiful game.
Cute character! You proved how simple art can look beautiful. The depth of field made everything look tiny, which looks great in my opinion.
Ok. On a more powerful PC the game works so I was able to play it.
The game looks and sounds Gourgeously. All the models, animations and postprocessing effects are well polished. Hats off.
The character does handle well and navigating the world feels really good, if you don't mind the camera.
The camera however is... well that is easily the worst aspect of the game. Camera angle is fixed, looking "North". While for the most part of progressing throguh the game you have to move South.
Technically this design choice could make the phylosophical sense, as moving forward you don't clearly see what lies ahead, and instead most of your vision is filled with things that are already behind you and are no longer relevant to moving forwards, and like memories the gradually get more blurry the further away they get...
But... I kind of didn't get the feeling that those philosofical implications were the intention of game creators, and instead this camera angle loos like a poor game design choice.
Anyway - a solid jam entry with perfect visuals and decent gameplay.
I love the art style so much! really gives off that clay feel to it and the DOF works really well with it together! :D
The character is just adorable and fits really well to the overworld!
I felt like he could use a tiny bit of more speed, due to the size of the maps.
Very charming and great entry! :)
This is simply incredibly cute, I really love the aesthetic of the game, and that little character is adorable ! I saw one of your post during the jam and could not wait to try your game !
I was a bit sad that it was so short but then I pressed play again and suddenly there was another completely new level, which I'm now assuming is procedurally generated ?
Unfortunately when starting over it looks like the level is already completed and we can just go through the portel to end it.
The fact it is so polished and its ambiance just feels so right makes me long for more !
10/10 would love to play some more levels !
@plot @knipsch @kovi @styrofoamwaffle @advay @hilvon @wobs @noctuaris12 I've had a hectic day and just came back to all of your comments. Thank you guys so much for checking out my entry. I would like to play with expanding on the game with more interactivity and would like to tweak the camera. I have heard the feedback about the player character being a little slow as well. @noctuaris12 The level layout is procedural and I didn't catch the bug about it persisting the end state until after submitting, great catch and thanks for letting me know. Again, thanks so much to all for checking it out, I'll be going through and playing all of yours as well   :space_invader:
I am very impressed that this was a compo submission and the fact that this was accomplished by one person in 48 hours. The graphics and the music mesh well together to create a pleasing experience. I really like the cuteness of the character and the animations are simple but effective. The game is fairly short, but that is to be expected with how much time and effort were put into the visuals. It would have been nice to be able to read the notes again although I appreciate the end screen giving me the full quote. I would've also been nice if the button prompt was only there when I was next to a book because it seemed as though after the first one it stayed on the screen. Overall this game astounded me with its visuals.
@ruddgasm Thanks! Yeah the prompt and reading the notes again are bugs. I appreciate you playing and the feedback
Very nice and effective art-style, I liked this cartoonish 3D look.
I love the art ! This is game is beautiful, the character design is so cute !
It's very pleasant to walk into the map, the light and the blur effect works well. The background music fit perfectly with the gameplay, it make the experience more immersive.
Great relaxing game
The graphics and art are incredible and create an amazing atmosphere. The fact that the level changes each time you play is pretty interesting too. Would maybe like camera control though. Here's a timestamped link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1003143985?t=3h16m4s
i really like the atmosphere and graphics
Atmosphere is amazing, but to be honest there wasn't much of any gameplay and the story was quite short too. Such graphics and audio when made by one person in such a short timespan is always a great feat, so good job on that! I hope you consider making it a full game, I can already see the emotional value it might bring.
Amazing graphics! The character movements are a little too slow for my taste.
Super cute game. Good idea splitting the poem in lines to intensify the message. Too bad is so short.
Would be nice to have more levels T_T The style is beautiful
