A smart and well polished implementation of this kind of game. I liked the idea of treating failures, such as accidentally catching a fish, as an achievement in its own right.
Very pleasent game.
The trophy menu is a great idea, makes you want to keep playing and catch them all.
The fishs looks good, the audio is enjoyable. I had a good time!
Nice idea, I liked the "gotta catch em all" aspect of the game. Trying to find each kind of fish was a great way to add depth in the gameplay. Well done:)
Things I liked: - The whistling stood out right away as a positive; great ambience - The casting mechanic is solid - general sounds are good
Improvements: - (minor item) but perhaps a minimap to show the lakes depth gradient; otherwise you just have to fail several casts just to find this out - variable speed on the asting bar; speed up the progress of the casting bar as you get closer to max; otherwise you end up with being able to reliably cast max casts without any challenge. - a soft ambient background music could add a lot - a weather mechanic that makes the fish behave differently - aggressive fish who try to eat your catches on the way back up (either as a positive or a negative)
Bugs: - only a small once, I had inconsistent response to how [SPACE] works from the trophy menu; sometimes it just closed the menu and started a new round; other times it closed the menu and started the casting mechanic; the the lack of reliablility of response on this one makes using just keyboard not trustworth.
Cool and relaxing game, just like fishing! The collecting aspect wraps up the design and make me wanna play over and over!
Really smooth game! Cute art, and cute mood overall.
Design-wise, I liked a lot the fact that you have more and more ""obstacles"" as you catch the different fishes (as you want to avoid those you already have, and thus they become obstacles)
One QoL improvement that could be good would be to speed up the "line launch" sequence, because I think it's quite long to wait when you're casting it at full power.
But anyway, good entry overall, and impressing whistling o/ Bravo to you !
the game is fine, good graphics and fun sounds. It's funny because at the beginning of the jam I had a very similar idea. I like how you have created the mechanics of using the fishing rod.
Very fun
Awesome! I love it, been wanting to make a fishing game myself for years, and this is a pretty darn good implementation of the base mechanics.
It was a little frustrating hitting the wrong fish, but it felt pretty fair at the same time, a little practice and I was sinking deep into the darkness.
I liked the camera pull back when I got a fish to the boat, it felt gratifying. I would have liked the casting, lure in air, camera adjusted. If the camera tended to stay lower towards the surface of the water, and/or maybe placed a bit ahead of the lure based on its velocity, so I could look ahead. Or y axis offset based on just the lure.y velocity. Mainly I wanted to see just before I hit the water if I flung the lure far enough for that ray, never caught that guy.
Being in the comp, not always(or ever) time for such details. But as I said earlier, nailed some good base mechanics, and they kept me playing. Well Done!
I like your take on the whole deep sea fishing idea! I made a similar game for the COMPO but what I like about yours is that you have more fish varieties and can collect fish. Also the cast your line out part is a nice touch!
Thanks for everyone who played, rated and even took some of their time to leave a nice feedback! I really appreciate that! So much that in return I did the same for all your games. Very good and interesting games guys, congratulations.

Really good job for a compo game, simple but atmospheric and fun to play.
Very interesting game and great implementation of the mechanics! Good job!
Nice fishing games. I managed to catch five different types of fish. Seems like the hook has to hit the fish directly in the mouth to register.
I'm sorry that I didn't finish the game it would have taken too long for me. Other than that, your game is great! I think it is the best use of theme on the jam for what I've seen.
The concept when you should avoid some fishes to get to the particular one is interesting and looks fresh. I think it is because some fishes are good to pick when you haven't caught it.
The exploration, achievements, whistles (music) are all other parts of the game I liked too and they are all together create nice experience as a fisherman.
Really liked the fishing theme, only suggestion i would make would be if the fisherman changed his angle when casting out the line. Otherwise this is a really nice fishing game. Some calm music would really go well with this.
