Not bad, now you
Nice work!!!
Nice work! I really love that moment when whatever you type, it still writes who are you? Sound and feel is nice. I would just prefer to have portraits infront of text boxes to see the art and probably a bit more explanation of mechanics at the beginning. :)
Cool game! Love the graphics, and most of all, I love the fact that you are using the symbols in a way you do :)
Okay that's cool
Great game! It really feels like 'The Witness'.
Playing in browser, WASD doesn't seems to work, but arrow buttons do, so it's fine
this was dope, took me a while to figured out some of the rules but it was never frustrating. About the sound crackling issues, those have been fixed in the newest version of Godot actually! a lot of my older jam games had the same issue.
Thanks @3amsoda I'll try upgrading the Godot version before the end of the jam :)
@wafflecomposite Oops you're right: French AZERTY keyboard here! I'll fix it right away :D
Edit: And yes the mechanisms are completely inspired from "the Witness"!
WOw this was amazing
That's some really good game! Well done there
Good job ! I love the arts and the music :) Like beekeepart said, very cool effect on this text. But I am not sure to understand very well the puzzles and I am already stuck on the four pillars ><
Really interesting idea!
great game, i don't really get it but it's great! lol
Good production values and everything :) However, couldn't really understand how the puzzles worked at least at a first glance.
Really interesting puzzle mechanic! Really feels like the witness in how you figure stuff out by trying. However, as some other comments were saying, if you haven't played The Witness and know how you solve it's puzzles, it can be overwhelming to start this game, maybe look into even easier first stages to get across the idea of solving the puzzles by trying. Also really cool presentation of the story. Some more graphical polish and content and you have a solid commercial game :)
Fun game, great graphics and music! I'm not great at puzzle games and couldn't finish the 3rd area, so I'm not sure how much more there was but I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Felt a lot like the witness (another game I didn't get far in :P). Overall good work!
A bit confusing in the beginning, but very polished and attention grabbing overall. I was immediately immersed in the world, also because of the great music. Well done!
The graphics looks good and the sounds are juice and give good feedback to the player, had some trouble with the puzzles though, just brute forced the first room and got stuck on the second, honestly didn't understand how it works so a tutorial might be needed (or i'm just dumb). But overall looks and feels good to play
Good soundtrack and amazing opening sequence. The 2nd room of the first area confused me, and I essentially had to guess my way out. The connecting lines have no indication of what the correct pattern should be. Some writing in the description or a longer tutorial video would be nice!
I think it was a beautiful game, cool art and puzzles, a polished game overall.
Very nicely done. Took me some time to figure out the first bit, maybe I'm slow. Could do with an easier start maybe to get people more into it.
Good game.
@mechanizedit @zachary-shah @lenan @drtizzle @corbeng @z0rly @ratogodoy @maluskhan
**Thanks for the feedback** I tried adding some indications on the first rooms to help the player understand how to go forward! 👍
It's a difficult balance tho' because, like in the witness, part of the fun is about understanding the rules fo the puzzles. And it also backup the story about healing and trying to understand stuff again. So I cannot just give them away 😀
@stefanie-leitch Try finishing it that's not the end of the story 😏 (And there is save system so you won't restart from the beginning)
This is such a well designed puzzle game. I haven't finish it yet as of writing this comment and I definitely will be continuing after this. I am not sure if there are "save" and if I can continue later or will I have to start from scratch once I reload the page. If anyone can let me know that would be great.
I really love the various puzzles and the different mechanic present. I am really looking forward to the rest of the puzzle.
Adding this to one of my top pick for this year.
(Edit: Final puzzle is great. Mind almost exploded)
Really well made puzzle game, the art really reminds me of Mother 3 which is great! The puzzles themself are smart and I can definitely see the inspiration from the Witness. Also that little cutscene intro bit is awesome!
+ very straightforward and neat design + sound was decent and though the loop was short it didnt get on my nerves - the puzzles could have been better communicated at the start and once solved should be locked and uneditable
@zwodahs Yes there is a save system (auto save after each puzzle) Thanks a lot for your appreciation that's great to read 😊
Small question had you played "The Witness" before ? it seems that people that did are doing better at start.
@hartvichio Thanks dude! In fact I intentionally let people edit the puzzle so that they can "try again" on puzzle they already solved to understand the rule (sometimes there is several ways to solve the same puzzle and if you solve it a second time you have a visual feedback). But I agree that I should find a way to let the user go back to the "solved" position quickly
Yeap played witness, but the 3D makes me giddy, so I couldn't continue as much as I want.
The puzzle difficulty is quite well-paced, but I suspect people may have trouble getting the last 2 rules; the "dot", and the "double-line" (avoiding spoilers)
Took me a while to fully understand what the dot means, but the double line was easier
I loved playing it, good headscratcher! Nice job guy!
I recommend it to my friends and one of them told me it was hard to see the colors for some puzzles so he can't finish it.
I wish I could be Smarter to follow your Story!. Great Game Though
Realy nice work! One of the bests game of the Jam for me so far!
Really amazing game! As others have said, it is similar to The Witness in ways. The first screen is the hardest, because you have no clue what to do. It kept saying 'look at the puzzles I already solved', but I did not know I already solved any. In the end I figured out that the flashing probably meant I solved it and that the change in pillar color indicated that, but these were not clear intuitively.
Once I got past this part though the game was amazing! I really liked how you kept combining puzzle concepts you learned before. This made it all a very cohesive and whole game. The story is also really nice and heartwarming, and this gave me the motivation to struggle through to the end. I did get bored of the puzzles after a while, but the same happened with The Witness, so I think this is just my preference in game :)
Really great work! I enjoyed this one a lot! :D
Wow, your game is really well designed. Everything fits together very well. The art style looks awesome, controls feels nice, the music is catchy, and the puzzles are well thought out. Great work!
Great presentation and atmosphere. A good ramp up in difficulty, and I like all of the visual glitch effects built in. Nicely done!
Such a greate puzzle solving game ! The art is stunning and the level design is very well thought ! I love how there is no tutorial, I see the Witness inpiration here ;) It's very difficult to do this kind of thing in a game jam but you did it ! Congrats !
I appreciate the large scope of this jam entry, well done. The puzzle concept is simple and works well but I think there is probably a way to ease the player into the game a bit more progressively with easier puzzles at the beginning. But once you understand the basic principle, this puzzle game rules.
I love this kind of puzzle game ! good work !
Really nice puzzle game. I enjoyed it :)
Nice Game. The story was simple but effective, the mechanics smooth and finding out the reasons, why things worked, I really liked. The double lines and the dots were tricky but in the end I figured it out. For my part the backtracking could have been a little shorter but overall great game.
I was a little bit lost with the puzzles at the beginning but i think that is my fault for not playing puzzle games at all haha. overall well done really liked the game =D
Really confusing game at the start but once you get into it it becomes SLIGHTLY clearer. Still got stuck a bunch of times but was had fun and I liked the graphics
I liked it. It defiantly feels like that game which shall not be named (a.k.a. el Testigo). Took me a while to get the double-line puzzles, but I eventually got it. It was very possible to spam-click to find solutions, which I did for a few puzzles while figuring out the mechanics. Would have liked more visual interest. Maybe give the different sections a theme that ties into the mechanics. Overall a good job.
Alas, I got stuck pretty early on. But I was definitely hooked on the story. My face went :O when it made me type "who are you"
What a wonderful interpretation of the theme. As a big fan of The Witness, I adored this game. Even got my pen and paper out to help me with a couple of the puzzles :D
The game communicated itself efficiently to me without me needing to read this page or the comments, which is rare! I love how carefully you interwove the serious story into it. It didn't feel heavy-handed, yet it isn't only observable by reading every line. Tasteful, makes one emphasize... thank you for this game!
I love the puzzles!
Love the who are you detail! The learning curve was a bit steep but that's my LD crunch brain talking
Wonderful game! The puzzles really make you think. Also, nice story!
Awesome game! I love this type of games guessing rules and solving the puzzles. I first walked to the right and guessed out the dot rule. But the double line rule is really hard. Later I find a way to the left and learned about the rule. The art and music is also great!
I recommend this game I played several months ago https://store.steampowered.com/app/1299400/Understand/ . This is a witness-like puzzle game filled with guessing rules by trials on the board.
Really cool game. I am a big fan of the witness so this was really fun for me. It brought out the same feelings of the witness when you would solve a puzzle and you would feel really good about it because you deciphered the rules alone, without any handholding. Having said that, I couldn't quite finish it. I just couldn't get past a few puzzles to continue, but the ones that I did complete were a ton of fun to solve! Really cool, nice job. You also nailed the theme of the jam with both the story and the visual effects.
Cool take on the theme! I like how the puzzles are so strong on association and I felt like the character trying to remember who they are after playing it. Also, the intro was great!
mAYBE IM DUMB BUT I DIDNT UNDESRTAND THE PUZZLES
The symbols looks really cool, did you base them off anything or did you randomly come up with them?
Cute fun little game.
Really cool idea! The puzzles are pretty challenging, but feels good to understand how they work. Nice work! :D
Great game
Nice game, The puzzles are well made and the art is nice.
Very simple and neat puzzles. Nice art and music.
These puzzles are very creative. I like the artwork. Is the level supposed to be glitching out? I feel like it is, but I'm not too sure.
@david-bohan thanks! And yes they are. They "heal" bit by bit when you solve puzzles :)
A fun creatize puzzle game with nice artwork and audio. Nice work!
Great job on this one, you really nailed how it felt to play The Witness. Also loved the graphics and the story that went along with it. Very well done!
Fun game! I haven't played The Witness before thus I could have been having more trouble connecting the rules. Either way, I suppose the difficulty ramp could be lower to hammer the rules in your head better. I also felt backtracking to older puzzles was a tedious journey. Where are my running shoes? Visually the game is good, I like the glitching effects. And the music is pleasant to the ear. Great work!
Nice work, I love the graphics and the mood.
I like this game a lot and I will definitely try to finish it. It takes a while to understand the rules, but coming back to solved puzzles does help a lot. The art style is good too, I like the glitch effects. Very good job, this is genuinely impressive :)
This is indeed very The Witness-y and fun but I found the dialog a little redundant. A great puzzle wouldn't need any text.
good game with an interesting idea. Finding the rules is complex but fun to dot :D
Extremely well made and polished. I totally get the "The witness" vibe in how each puzzle expand the previous one and how basic rules complement each other to create new complex puzzle. Awesome job!
feel Witnessy. Puzzles are well made. So Nice game. But, there was only one place where which symbol represented which number. So, I had to go back and screenshot it to solve a puzzle. It was very inconvenient.
Really liked the puzzle mechanic!
This game is really great, though it took me a while to figure out what to do.
Such a good game! Congratz on this gem!! never played the witness, but i got through, and it felt very rewarding to get the hang of those puzzles!
2D version of the Witness. Nice job. But the theme is a little bit shifted away :P
wow that's really cool ! loved the dialogs/story, puzzles ! Cool art, cool music too !
Really nice game all round, nicely thought out glyph puzzles and cool story with it, good work!
This is awesome. I like the way the puzzles are made. I've never seen this i think :D
interesting plot, cool graphics and dialogues. Atmospheric game
Really great game. I like it. I haven't played The Witness, but it reminded me of the game Understand, because you have to figure out the rules yourself.
Your interpretation of the topic is quite different. I like the graphics, sound and gameplay in general. I had a bit of difficulty understanding the puzzles, but nothing that got in the way of my experience. A really good entry!
Great game, challenging puzzles. Really enjoyed playing it
Ooh, this is great. I can definitely feel the witness in the puzzles - I lvoed that game and they've got a similar feel for sure. "Who are you" is a great detail. I got stuck on puzzle 6 for a little while but very good. Nice work.
Interesting game, but dont i dont like to use mouse in games like this =( Anyway, good work!
Даже моя бабушка работает со своими психическими проблемами. А я нет. Печально. Спасибо за игру!
Very nice and challenging game! Sometimes I had to think hard to get through!
I'm not a puzzle guy but the music and glitchy effects was that good so I solved some!
I had a ton of fun playing. Love the idea of having to figure out rules yourself from The Witness. Some of the puzzles are really tricky, so I'm proud to say I've completed it. May be my favorite game of the jam yet.
@raykon Thanks and Bravo. Your are one of the 26 people who completed the game on a total of 186 players that completed the first zone so far 😁
killer concept
Wow, this game got me hooked! I played it for more than an hour. I love the puzzles, but also the story is what really keeps me going. Cool! Also, You have implemented the theme on so many levels in such a good way. I love it.
I am stuck here:
game.png
(Warning: SPOILER) The above left equation and the bottom right equations together say 5 + 5 + 3 whites + 1 red = 3 brown + 2 whites + 1 red. So 10 + 1 white = 3 browns. But thats impossible, I can only turn my pieces into 3s at most? Some help would be appreciated!
@zettelkasten hey the white is the "default" color it doesn't follow the first rule of the game. Only the colored cells do! So they can be different. Congrats on getting here just a small effort left 😀
Cool puzzles, I suck at doing them, good work!
Hey ! I had to stop, couldn't figure out what the double-line connector means :(
The game is awesome, having to understand the rules by solving puzzles is genius. I don't know "The Witness" so I guess everything was a big surprise to me. So far, I've spent much more time on your game than any other game of this LD, which is probably the best compliment I can give ;)
The graphics were very nice and the glitches a nice touch (however at first I wondered if it was intended or not). The music is nice but a bit repetitive (and stressful when you get angry for not understanding the puzzles) so I would probably have picked another more relaxing style.
Great job overall, thanks for the experience !
@rolly Thanks man it means a lot!
Question for you so I understand if there is a flaw in the game design.
When you say "I couldn’t figure out what the double-line connector means"
Did you complete the first island on the left and got stuck at the second island.
Or did you manage to solve the puzzle to go right and never went to the small islands on the left ?
t.jpg
I'm not sure what you mean about left and right islands, so here's where I got (thanks for that "continue button, I was ready to start over to show you :p)
I solved 3 puzzles with the double-connector but I don't think I ever understood why :p
@rolly Ok that's what I though, you were not supposed to be able to solve the "pink doy" puzzles before going on the small islands on the left of the map. 😆 That's where you'll discover the "double-line" rule.
You should try going back on your steps and explore the left of the map.
I think I should have made the 2 puzzles with pink dots harder some people manage to pass without their "tutorial" 😅
Awosome game, really love the puzzle mechanics, with more polishing this could make for a great commercial game
I very much enjoyed this game.
I can absolutely see how this game was inspired by The Witness, and in a good way: particularly how puzzles are presented to the player before they have information necessary to solve them, forcing them to go exploring to find easier puzzles to act as hints.
That sort of game design is definitely easier said than done, but you did it well.
Really cool, I enjoyed it alot. The puzzles were presented very well and i was able to keep on solvin! It made me feel smart haha 😁 The story around the puzzles grounded the experience and gave it some meaning which was great! I imagine it was difficult to balance puzzles in a jam game so really well done!
GOOD JOB! 👏👏
wow, this game is really good, I had a lot of fun playing it, great job!
good game)
This is awesome! Designing a really creative and addictive puzzle game is hard enough, but doing it in the space of an LD Jam? Insanity! This is a huge accomplishment, and I loved every second with this game.
Really nice puzzle game, really in the spirit of The Witness! I found the story very heartwarming and works really well with the gameplay, especially with re-learning symbols and arithmethic :D
Loved figuring out the puzzles!! The game is great and the story is cute
Really great game that hooked me in from the very start. The puzzles were both interesting and hard, and so well designed! Great job
:warning: SPOILER ALERT :warning: Hey nice entry! The puzzles are great and satisfying. After figuring out the mechanics of each one they became very easy so maybe new stuff would have to be thrown in to keep it fresh but that should be no problem as the layout you used is very flexible/expandable. I think some of the mechanics are pretty obtuse lol which was frustrating like how the pink dots don't need to all be in one block - that took ages of back and forth between the old puzzles. I think the easy puzzles actually fail to teach the player the mechanics because they have multiple solutions and they don't contain enough information to work out what the actual mechanic is. Like the dots one I had no idea how it worked until the very last hardest one I solved with educated guess + brute force and then realized the mechanic. To be fair it was a cool feeling to work it out myself but I think a few tweaks here and there to the early puzzles would help a lot! Loved the witness and basically anything jo blow does and this definitely has that vibe to the progression. I think the walking around and story stuff is a cool addition and tying the exploration to the puzzle solving like having to find that number clue is clever! The only problem is walking back and forth is a bit of a pain when you just wanna jump to the next puzzle. I think the witness *kinda* solves this by having similar mechanics contained in an area. Puzzle games are always a fascinating study in game design and this one is great so good job!
Very cool game! Nice idea
A cool game! Love the Witness so this was nicely up my alley, puzzles could have been intro'd a little more slowly to allow the player to fully grasp the mechanics. Otherwise, nice job!
Great game! as many other have said it but really reminds of the witness! amazing jam!
Really stellar game. Feels incredibly polished with plenty of really cool tricks. The intro alone let me know I was in for a treat.
I love this game. I love how its really rewarding when you solve the puzzles, and how its worked into the story really well. And bro that glitch effect got me trippin... that was so hot
I'm (Jonathan) Blown away by how polished and complete this game feels. It's really great that you were able to wrap up such a simple puzzle mechanism with a really nice story and growing mechanics. A+! :)
This is a really nicely done puzzle game. I can definitely see the influence from *The Witness*, which is definitely not a bad thing. I loved the graphics here-the sprites aren't super impressive, but the effects with environmental objects distorting and suddenly being upside down is really nice looking and helps give a sense of uneasiness to the whole game. The music and sound design are also really well done and feel consistent throughout the game. I love the open-ended design of the game world-an oddity for puzzle games, but was a defining feature for *The Witness*. On top of all that, the story is really nicely told. Overall, congrats on making a really great submission.
Absolutely love it. 10/10 Amazing how you tied a theme fitting story into this learning based puzzle game. Make more!
Fantastic game with amazingly-designed puzzles. The presentation is very clean, there are no bugs in sight, and the music ties it all together.
kinda sus
Really loved the mechanics, music, and graphics. Great work!
Absolutely wonderful. Fun puzzle mechanics, fun story and an interesting world to explore with great atmosphere. I am, however, completely stuck on the pink dots (did the first 3 puzzles that have them but no idea what the rule is since it's clearly not a set of adjacent squares given that's impossible in the 4th and 5th puzzles) so if anyone wants to give me a hint I would love to keep playing this game.
I really liked the art and the music and sounds. Puzzles are not my cup of tea, but after a few tries even I got the hang of it. :)
I am so surprised the comments aren't full of amogus memes. Internet has ruined me.
Great game.
Well... I found the premise very interesting and the art and music are amazing. I must be very limited because I thought I was understanding the puzzle and when I got out of the 3 starting rooms I didn't understand anything anymore. I'll save it here to play later and try to find out.
Congratulations
@farouchelark indeed the 3 dots rule might not be "progressive" enough (3 easy puzzle then a very hard one). I've worked on a patch of the game for after the jam :) A hint maybe: the number of dots might match a number of *something*. Try going back to the "easy puzzles" you brute forced and understand why they worked
@euler-moises try going left instead of going to the obvious puzzles on the right. You are not ready to solve those yet I think.
the puzzles were very on point and some of them took time to solve, visuals and story were also excellent so congrats on the game, loved the puzzle rules mash up together.
Amazing little puzzle game. A masterstroke of design. One change I'd make is clicking on the ground to move there
I think my only real crit is the music was maybe a bit offmood but it's quite clever as a puzzle game.
Very interesting game. The puzzles are too difficult and feel like they lack some hints
Awesome audio and some really clever mind teasing puzzles. Loved the interaction design so that every click felt nice.
Hey there, bippinbits from itch here - i said i would play :D
I really enjoyed that, the puzzles were great. Well introduced with pretty intuitive mechanics. I got one thing wrong i think, where i assumed blocks of the same color need to show the same symbol. But it seems this is not true for the grey ones. The south west puzzle had me stuck slightly on this, as i went in with the wrong assumption. After i solved these two, I got stuck on the dots. Up until that i found it even more approachable than the witness, but there i was pretty stumped and missed the puzzles that introduce a new mechanic. I didn't find an alternative puzzle, so i got stuck there, and didn't want to brute force it.
I was sceptical of the music first, but got into a nice groove quickly and came out really liking it. Well done game, i love puzzles and this one was really good. The underlying theme of the grandma stroke is also great, i really like heavy topics. Although, now that i think of it, it might clash a bit with the music. In any case great job!
Excellent graphics and character design, I found the puzzle idea very good and interesting, Great work! xD
