- would be nice to have a restart button so you didn't have to crash into the end posts to retry - the double jump was a bit finicky to pull off - music worked well - SFX were interesting - The gameplay was enjoyable (and would be much more enjoyable with a bit less finicky double jump and a restart button) - good entry!

Nice game. I like how the game ensures the user know everything by providing how to play and embedded gifs/videos for tutorials. Took me a few levels to figure out how to outsmart the game after reaching the end goal for every level. My only critique would be related to the camera and the movement. It all stutters a lot which I found annoying. I was playing on windows. Overall a nice game and good idea.

Very interesting game idea. I had fun with this. I like the graphics and the sound was good too. Great submission!

Great idea and the fact the red balls move based on your previous run and are set up so they'll definitely hit you really ties the game to the theme. Movement and jumping was super slick too which gave the game a really polished feel.

I liked this game. This is very interesting jam theme interpretation and i totally love it. Also i liked this funny sound design. However there is a strong performance issues even though simple graphics.

Thanks all for the comments so far. I'm not sure why is sounds like it's struggling, it hasn't on either of the 3 computers I've tested it on. However, it's the first 3d game I've made in godot, may have got some settings a bit wonky and not optimised it as well as I should have. Hopefully it doesn't take too much away for people who get a chance to play it

boc-dev 2022-04-04 17:44

Also, @adroitconceptions, there is a restart button in the bottom right corner

Very nice 2step gameplay! Simple and Fun! Thanks

Very original. Graphics and audio work well. Having an option to press R or Enter instead of having to click UI buttons would be nice, but not taking it into account in my ratings.

Level 7 was almost too hard, level 8 made me ragequit. So good job I guess, you broke me (JK)

boc-dev 2022-04-05 16:05

@kuro that's a bloody good effort, I think I've only beaten 8 once during allot of testing!

Ye that's a good call with the UI changes, I'll make them after the jam, thanks!

Glad to see a fellow Godot user :). Getting pretty bad performance on my machine (I do have a GTX 660 to be fair). Also in the UI, the audio is panned to the left, did you use an AudioStreamPlayer3D or 2D there on accident? By default I believe 2D is panned to the left, at least it was whenever I used it. Sounds fine in the actual game though!

Great idea to do the level again with the lasers. Having the possibility to move the camera to see the platforms would be nice.

ccglp 2022-04-05 19:43

Very original take (and also made in Godot ^^)

In both parts of the gameplay I really like the game, the only thing I would say is that the camera seems to vibrate all the time which makes the game a bit uncomfortable, but awesome job!

Liked the idea, funny enough I didn't read description and thought second part of the level is just watching, but still managed to complete 5 levels randomly)) The only thing was camera control, don't know why but is started to give me a bit of sickness(

elias-newton 2022-04-05 19:54

* Nice game! * The sound wasn't bad, so I guess my ears accept your apology? :) * Also, thanks for providing a linux option! * I managed to miss the bit about pressing space at first, playing a few levels while thinking there's no way to control the ring in the second part. Maybe display a short reminder about the basic controls (even just "hold space to stop moving!") at the beginning of each part of the first level as a sort of an interactive tutorial? * The level select screen also confused me a bit, it's not obvious that only the number is clickable, it would be nice if the entire bar was clickable. (Also, maybe add keyboard controls to the menus.) * Maybe add a preview picture for each level to the level select? * It's not obvious that the restart button is also the way to exit the level and go back to the menus. Maybe also add escape as one of the keys to pop up the restart menu? * The camera rather stuttered for me on level 5 for some reason.

boc-dev 2022-04-05 19:57

@ollie-d ahh yes I did, I'm terrible at the audio side. I think I thought that using an audio 2d on the gui canvas would just make it centered for some reason. And I've got no idea what I've done to tank the performance so bad? It's the first 3d game I've made in godot, I'm clearly not using the right settings.

@fifut ye that's a good idea, to plan the movement out.

@ccglp ye I tried to make a camera that kind of follows a bit slower than snapping with some jank usages of tweens. I think it needs a bit more tweaking :)

jsmitq 2022-04-05 21:22

This one is tricky. I found the best strategy is not to stop while drawing the line. Otherwise, you might get stopped in a spot where the red balls are unavoidable. Really fun and satisfying

nick-rafalski 2022-04-07 01:16

This was really good! The platforming controls were just what I wanted for this type of game: lots of control but also some floatiness. The levels were just puzzely enough to be interesting, but most of the skill comes from your platforming and timing. Nice job!

uraffululz 2022-04-13 16:05

This is a great, relatively-unique game concept, and put together very well for a jam game. Great job!

sam-bigos 2022-04-18 18:08

Love the unique idea. It was well executed, especially like the sound effects. I think levels could do with a bit more variety and introduce some new mechanics to really make use of the 'second playthrough' idea. But for 48 hours very well done!

This is a amazing :fire:

Interesting idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/QO-q-Xmgol0
