LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Dig Dig Joy by Nyunesu 2022-04-05T18:51:53Z

The game was really fun and I really like the animations, especially the pickaxe!

Some simple sounds really would be nice here. Also, it would be nice if it were clearer that bombs don't do damage to the player.

Very pretty! I really enjoyed the art.

If you do work on this more, I think that adding gentle animations to the plants and machines could really make it feel more "alive".

Also, I felt some feedback for oxygen / carbon dioxide generation/depletion was missing, because when placing machines, it's not clear that anything's happening. Similarly, when you can't place a machine, maybe display some feedback for the reason.

Corrupted Runtime by HideyBoi Dev 2022-04-08T01:35:24Z

This was fun! I liked your take on the theme. My main nit in the gameplay area is that the dark part in the fourth level felt a bit unfair, as I could no longer see where I was going. That may just be my screen being too dark, though.

Also, it would have been nice to get some sort of victory message after completing the last level. :)

Like @inanimatecarbonrod said, the corruption effect was really pretty. Maybe try to pixelate it so it fits in more with the rest of the graphics?

I really like this game and especially the art is beautiful!

A few suggestions, I hope they're helpful:

* I, too, would have liked more checkpoints (I didn't realize there was one until I saw the comments). * Maybe also some kind of indication of how far the next checkpoint is, or how far the end of the level is? * At least once, I accidentally missed some of the dialogue. Maybe there could be some way to see previous lines, like maybe a window with a log of what the robot said? * As for changing the collision difficulty - even without using tiles, maybe you could use a different bitmap to encode the collision info? * Also, it's not obvious that making a large jump won't punish you for the hard fall. * Maybe if you press A/D for too long, then the meter could go back down, so if you miss the jump strength you wanted, you could get another chance?

* Nice game! * The sound wasn't bad, so I guess my ears accept your apology? :) * Also, thanks for providing a linux option! * I managed to miss the bit about pressing space at first, playing a few levels while thinking there's no way to control the ring in the second part. Maybe display a short reminder about the basic controls (even just "hold space to stop moving!") at the beginning of each part of the first level as a sort of an interactive tutorial? * The level select screen also confused me a bit, it's not obvious that only the number is clickable, it would be nice if the entire bar was clickable. (Also, maybe add keyboard controls to the menus.) * Maybe add a preview picture for each level to the level select? * It's not obvious that the restart button is also the way to exit the level and go back to the menus. Maybe also add escape as one of the keys to pop up the restart menu? * The camera rather stuttered for me on level 5 for some reason.

Didn't work for me, it seems to be missing the .pck file

Caveman Bob and the Inevitable Dawn by Elias Newton 2022-04-06T20:09:40Z

Thank you for all the feedback!

I was sort of hesitant to try doing sound for the jam, as I thought it'd be better to skip it entirely than to do it only halfway, and also I was afraid of running into implementation bugs, and I guess I just ran out of time. It's sort of ironic, because I spent so much time designing the logic behind the snoring "sounds" and then didn't do actual sound :joy:

@apphons6 The giant wakes up if there's a mosquito within a certain radius of the cave for too long. When the mosquito Zs start turning red, then they're getting close. More mosquitoes make the allowed time shorter.
