Graphics are cute and the story is funny but fights are so difficults, I never won a fight. I didn't see help or what so I don't know if it's a bad balancing or if I miss an element. But congrats to the team for the Game jam !

Nice job! I liked the audio, it really helped set the mood for the game. The graphics were nice as well. The only bad thing that I have to say about this game is that it is really hard. Overall 8/10 good game.

The art styl eis really good but the gameplay was lackluster and it was hard to understand what to do. Otherwise it was really well presented. Good job

Cute art, but the fights are really hard!!! the enemies does a lot of damage.

Interesting game. The sequence in the house at the beginning does a good job of setting up the mood.

The combat system is quite hard to understand.

haivron 2021-10-06 02:18

Intro scene and interacting with stuff around the house was cool! I would definitely focus more on the combat system and UI since it is turn-based and it lacks showing very important information like an element UI or an indicator of the current target. Different soundtracks and a special one for the boss battle is a nice touch. Congrats!

Awesome entry! How did you make such a big game in such little time? I'm very confused how you did this. Either way, 9/10, astounding preformance.

yojammerjammer 2021-10-06 02:23

This is adorable. Great job.

The game its very fun! But the things that if it would be good to polish would be the Design of the Layout Composition so that could make the game more intuitive, and perhaps the Narrative, since the proposal is good, but if it would be good to structure the Motives of the Protagonist and his development. Overall I loved it !!! :D

(Sorry for my bad English, im Mexican and I don't speak Englig very well haha)

Thanks for the reviews everyone! We ran out of time before we could implement the tutorial we wrote X_x but I just put an updated list of controls in the description! It's a bit more readable on the itch page though

The combat system is fun, characters are cute, writing is funny, music is nice, but everything else is rough. I don't understand the plot (chicken asks cat to save the world from out-of-control elements, cat refuses, but they go anyway), and the story is incomplete even by game jam standards (there's a lady in front of a cliff who fights me for no reason and has different battle music, so I guess she's supposed to be a boss and a bridge will appear when I beat her, but nothing happened).

As it is, it feels like you had ideas for an epic JRPG, but didn't have the time to finish things. If you continued to work on this project and added a more coherent plot, tutorials, and better-looking maps, you'd have something really nice that I'd be interested in playing more.

Looks like there's a lot of content, but it sort of lacks a unifying vision and it seems like you maybe overscoped? Also, without being able to see a health bar for enemies it's hard to know whether you're actually making any progress, or just wasting your time. I gave up after a while of fighting a pile of mud (?) with no visible progress.

Amazing! Really enjoyed reading the second entries when interacting with objects. Beating the monsters is really hard, but I appreciate the care to introduce the world at the very beginning.

kukurammus 2021-10-06 17:45

Combat system is kinda hard to understand, but it looks like a lot of work is put into this game, so good job

ddrkirbyisq 2021-10-06 23:32

Try to make a smaller game next time ;)

Surprisingly, I managed to defeat all of the enemies after some trial and error and figuring out exactly what was going on in the combat system. I got a black screen after that; I'm assuming that was just the end of the content that you included.

Liked the writing a lot and the art was good. Music was great and very soothing. Had some trouble with the fights, and the retry feature wasn't working for me (it would send me back to the house but I couldn't leave or go to sleep). Really enjoyed the vibe of the game, great job!

The combat has interesting mechanics, but it's probably too much for a player to grasp in such a short time. It took me a few times to even realize that the cat keeps attacking after a successful attack. It would help to have the elements with their keys listed somewhere in the UI.

The graphics are overall well made, but not as cohesive as they could be(I would assume multiple artists). The audio is also pretty good.

Overall it's a neat jam entry. With some more work and polish, the combat could be pretty fun.

Definitely has room for potential. For now, the combat system is WAY too complicated to not have a tutorial or on-screen info for the different elemental attacks and block. I couldn't keep track, and had to keep checking back to this page for the info (as it wasn't listed on the itch.io page). I feel like you could have done just 3-4 elements, and the effect would have been the same, but that much simpler. With the "combo attack" system, I could definitely see combat playing out like something akin to "The Legend of Dragoon", but with an elemental twist. Would be cool to see, if you decided to continue with this project.

The music seemed a bit loud, but that's adjustable, so ultimately not a problem. However, it was interspersed with totally silent dialogue scenes. Kind of jarring.

Solid graphics for a jam game.

Minor/personal inconveniences: The player moves a bit too fast for my liking. Moving slower would allow the player to take in the environments you're working so hard to build. Also, the in-game dialogue system is a bit slow, but if you press Space to try to "fast forward" the text, it just skips through and closes the dialogue box. Kind of annoying, but just requires more patience.

This idea may have been too big for a game jam, but definitely has potential. And considering the time-limit, there are definitely going to be flaws. Still, the prototype is solid, if a little too complicated. I'm sure it took a lot of work, and it shows.

A lot of interesting ideas here! I liked the character drawings and I appreciated the combat system, though more on-screen prompts were definitely necessary, as I definitely couldn't remember what I needed to use and had to put my two monitors to use to keep the controls open on a separate screen. The in-game dialogue also moved a bit too slowly for my tastes, but it had solid personality! I think there's a great idea here, a post-jam version would be very nice to see (and now that I look up, I see that the commenter above me made very similar observations--still, I stand by mine). I have a good time playing this one!
