LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Reroute Reboot by OddballDave 2017-12-20T16:19:37Z

I absolutely love this concept, it's fantasic and I think I just spent about an hour playing it. However, in that hour I never once managed to make any progress. I don't know if I'm missing something, but it seemed any time I tried to focus on taking over anyone else's access points, I started to lose my own. I was never able to take anyone else's mainframe despite tweaking my strategy a lot. Of course, it's possible I'm just stupid but the game seems very hard. I'll probably come back to this soon for another attempt.

Babies! Babies! Babies! by Local Minimum 2017-12-06T19:54:47Z

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POg_y3nLpDY

Seriously though, the unsettling music and the jarring (Dare I say Dadaist?) art style mesh really well to make this a solid 5 in mood for me.

Super Mailman by 0xDD 2017-12-07T10:36:15Z

Whenever I presss the up arrow key to jump it also scrolls the page up, and pressing space scrolls it down. This makes the game relatively unplayable for me right now. You can probably fix this in css, or just by reducing the webpage such that there's no scroll bar

Doubloon Lagoon! by Nikolaj 2017-12-05T10:41:59Z

The aesthetic of the game is very cute. The sound design is lovely, the VA being a particularly nice touch. However the controls and camera feel rather awkward, which might be alleviated by, say, a first-person mode or a fixed camera mode looking out from the rock. Also, there's a bug where if you restart you can keep your current velocity.

Catastrophic Cities by Drauthius 2017-12-05T14:33:10Z

You've got to get he start juuuust right, but when you do you can snowball by every turn investing half in fire and half in health, and if you see even 1% unemployment, put all your money from that turn in to industry. If you do it right you barely ever need to invest in police.

The city graphics are lovely, adorable little buildings. The music is just enough to provide atmosphere and fits the game well, but does get grating eventually. It's hard to tell what does what, it feels like maybe improving fire and health decreases unemployment somewhat, but not as much as industry and that crime is constant at 0 unemployment, but i'm not sure what fires and diseases actually do. Also, approval rating sometimes seemed to shift a lot arbitrarily even though I had kept everything down.

Defence The Castle by SG Alin 2017-12-06T20:21:37Z

I personally found it annoying to be locked in to inverted Y, I don't use it so it threw me off quite a lot. I really like your cover image though, with the PC and one of the enemies overlooking the castle, symbolising the struggle for control.

Interview at Cacophony by Christoph 2017-12-07T10:20:54Z

It seems like there's a bug right now where the electric guitar sometimes doesn't have any sound when it's playing the instruments for you to guess. I got it once on the first level and it had the bug, but on level 4 it didn't. Otherwise, this is a really cool idea for a game, I personally couldn't pick out any more than two instruments at a time reliably, but I might well just be bad

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Vast Trivia Of The Void by JorgeGameDev 2021-04-29T07:46:53Z

As everyone else has already said, the polish was incredibly impressive. The only thing I didn't like was all the placeholder questions, they were funny at first but they started getting a little disappointing to see instad of a real challenge. Apart from that, amazing stuff.

Drill18^2 - This is Just a Drill by quill18 2021-04-26T13:43:53Z

I made it to depth 11 before dying, really interesting idea. Properly balancing a game like this is really hard in such a short time so I congratulate you for that. Would have liked to be able to see what's already in my deck and maybe a breakdown by suit when picking a card to add.

Update: Played again and got to level 15 before being completely destroyed by Comet Sighted

Chess Hellevator by BoxedMeatRevolution 2021-04-27T21:08:27Z

Damnm you made it really hard. I like to think i'm a pretty good chess player but I still died a lot in the later lavels. Getting a huge combo on he last level felt super satisfying

depthscraper by lexi 2021-05-12T21:32:03Z

This is addictive as hell, I love it. Although it does feel a little too luck based.

Oiligarch by dxk2294 2021-04-27T09:52:49Z

Really interesting mechanics, it kept me engrossed for a good while. After the mouth of hell opened the price of oil crashed to $11.50 so my profit rate plummeted, I had to just walk away and leave the game running for 10 minutes to save up the money to put an offshore platform in the centre, which it seemed was the goal. Nothing seemed to happen after I got it but after I left it another 5 minutes I got the win screen and I wasn't sure why. Also it would have been nice to be able to mouse over bars like public sentiment to get the exact percentage. This is pretty minor stuff though, overall a well polished and impressive game.

Love's a Mystery by Bamallama 2021-04-28T16:24:07Z

I love visual novels so I'm glad you made one, and I didn't know ren'py worked on web now so that's cool. I liked how so many of the rooms that we only see very briefly have full art. Is the game supposed to end when you open the note? I went for a few routes and it always seemed to end there, so it feels very short and unfinished

LudumDare 48 - The Drill (That's all) by DreamTeck 2021-04-28T14:41:44Z

The pixel art was really cute, and the upgrade system felt very detailed. The enemies felt pretty boring though, both in their behaviour and in that they weren't very satisfying to kill. Making the core gameplay loop a bit jucier would do a lot for the game.

Conspiracy Dive by wizard sino 2021-04-26T12:47:22Z

This is the funniest interpretation of the theme I've seen, and the puzzle with the three kings was pretty hard (I learned the word "Arpeggio" today). I had a really hard time setting the clocks, it seemed like it only worked if I clicked the very bottom of the number. Also, I loved the Strong Bad reference.

Ocelot Safari by pancelor 2021-04-26T07:30:04Z

Yep, that's some adorable pixel art -- why doesn't mine look like that!? The Pico startup screen was a beautiful little addition, it gave me nostalgia for a childhood I never experienced.

I wasn't sure what the ocelots do, it seems like they attack you at night if you're not in a fire and otherwise drag your tools around? That could be made clearer. I also wasn't sure what the broken rock pieces are for, if anything.

Tower Tower Defence Defence by IAmWave 2021-04-27T21:13:33Z

Hey, i'd like to lay this but the graphics seem a little bugged for me Screenshot from 2021-04-27 22-11-59.png. This is on Fiefox

Death Cult by TentacleMax 2021-04-27T20:16:14Z

I played it in Wine but could you please make a Linux build, since it's so easy in Unity? I loved the art and the music. Contrary to all the comments about gunners, I thought gunners were useless and went for an all swordsman & wizard build. It would have been nice to have your own heath bars stand out better from enemy heath bars so you can keep track better

Associated Arguments by mathemagician 2021-04-26T07:46:43Z

The talking noises and text boxes were really well done, the conversation theme is portrayed really effectively in a minimalistic way. With some more complex puzzles this could be a really nice wee game

Gone Diggin' by XeduR 2021-04-26T13:56:24Z

I managed to get a high score of 27 after I came up with the strat of waiting to find a rich vein before starting. It's kind of annoying how you can get softlocked by digging down between three stone blocks; but that's pretty minor. I loved the rotating level, not sure how you implemented that tbh.

Super Scran by 8KEN 2021-04-27T14:15:40Z

Hey man, I clicked on your game because I also use the word "scran", but I can't play it. Any chance you could make a web or Linux build, since it's Unity? Thanks

Voice Warm-up by Effarek 2021-04-26T07:38:29Z

Really funny take on the theme, I never thought of that.

I wasn't sure what to do for the "scream deeper" part.

DEEP by TeamTooLazy 2021-04-28T14:31:25Z

The music was really good, although the humour didn't really vibe with me personally. There didn't seem to be much to the gameplay, just look for the three lowest numbers them pick those things, right? Would be nice if there was a bit more meat to it.

Go to Hell!!! by GameDevTraum 2021-04-28T18:59:12Z

It felt like the mouse sensitivity was way to low for me in the web version, might just be a Unity problem though. Pretty funny idea, also I really appreciate that it checkpoints your progress and starts you back partway through when you die.

Deep Way To Basement by Usenrame 2021-04-29T18:31:13Z

I made it to level 10 and went 640m down, not sure if there's a bottom, sorry for missing the ending if so. It was pretty fun, it reminded me of Happy Wheels. The physics bugged out a lot, sometimes the dog clipped in to the sofa which was pretty funny.

Infinit Pachinko by BrianGlassman 2021-04-27T19:24:57Z

I love this, excellent use of the theme (most games are just "deeper", but this is actually "deeper and deeper" because you go deeper each time) and fun, simple gameplay. This would be a great little timewaster on mobile. I think it would be better if the camera always centred on the ball though since often I can't see what's coming to know whether to use a shield.

R.E.M. - Vocab Nightmare by Smooches 2021-04-26T07:08:13Z

Obviously deep sleep is a fantastically creative take on the theme, so well done there. I like to think of myself as having a big, meaty vocabulary so I keep playing on hard, and I get destroyed every time. Exactly what an LD game should be, a simple concept with lots of polish.

Swing Shroom by Quite Good 2021-04-27T08:01:05Z

Absolutely beautiful art and lovely ambient music, the gameplay was fun and pretty intuitive too. It really seemed like you'd find a cool secret if you crawl up the shaft at the start, but it looks like there's nothing so that's a little disappointing. Also I think it would have been better to always let you fire the rope even when it won't hit anything.

Fishing the Deep by DDesignDude 2021-04-28T20:04:40Z

I know there's probably nothing you can do to fix it but I couldn't get this working on my flash cart. I have this one https://www.r4wood.com/r4i-sdhc-3ds-rts-card-for-3ds-all-systems.html with the latest firmware and as DSi XL. When I try to boot it I just get stuck with both screens black. It worked fine on Desmume though, and holy shit i'm impressed by your technical skill.

RUN FROM STUFF (2D Chase Game) by PookiPoot 2021-04-28T19:37:51Z

The minimalist aesthetics of this game were gorgeous, and the little music loop added some nice background without getting annoying. The jumping felt a little awkward to me, sometimes you got nowhere and sometimes you were flying. As other people said I also wish there were checkpoints, I got to level 2 but had to put the game down when I died and realised I went all the way back to the start of level 1. It feels really fun when you're going fast, but that makes hitting a dead end or getting the trouble with jumps feel really bad.

DEPTHS OF THE INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX by pierogo 2021-04-28T18:00:04Z

Really strong atmosphere, I was spooked. The platforming felt a bit awkward but maybe I was just bad at it, I got stuck in the platforming section where the floors open under you and then you have to platform around the big room.

Deep Sea Tycoon by Udo2 2021-04-27T15:04:06Z

OKay, I have 1.5 billion dollars now and it doesn't look like you can get anything new after the big rig so I guess I'm done. Great game, the style is really cohesive. There's an exploit where you can buy a management team, sell some assets at the increased price and then sell the management team again on the same day for cost price. Also you can always tell when the oil price has peaked because it stays the same for a tick before falling. Also did you mean for the maintainence crew costto be $0.1M for the big rig?

LD53 — Delivery

The Doldrums of Delivery by Flaterectomy 2023-05-16T11:54:43Z

I played for a while and did a few deliveries but it didn't seem to be going anywhere. I thought maybe by levelling up my empathy I'd be able to engage with the little random conversations other robots try to have with you, but that didn't seem to be happening. I found myself just clicking randomly to try and get where I wanted to go, maybe label the buttons with where they'll take you rather than just directions. All that said, the setting and music were very immersive and something could definitely be made of this if you added more of a story.

RIP: Ridiculously Injury Prone by theArtifacts 2023-05-03T14:16:14Z

No footpaths, you just have to walk in the road and the cars never stop for you. Is this what it's like to live in the US? Fun wee game, multiple levels would have been good but of curse that's just the time constraint. I looked around the map a bit for secrets but I couldn't see any, they would have been cool (unless I just missed them)

Combine and Conquer by Quackqack 2023-05-16T12:22:24Z

Screenshot from 2023-05-16 13-17-50.png I got all 6 colours but nothing happened, is there supposed to be an end screen? Also you can build stuff over your beacon, which is quite a funny bug. I only did that after I had all 6 though.

I would have loved to see a fast forward, just waiting for my materials to fill up was pretty boring. The gameplay of planning ahead and trying not to screw yourself over is pretty compelling though. You should give players a warning of how easy it is to block yourself though, I didn't realise at first.

No Junk Mail by MisterKeefe 2023-05-02T08:46:03Z

I found the game really hard, I couldn't keep track of everything that was going on on the screen. There's probably a high skill ceiling if you get comfortable with the keyboard controls though. In the 4th level the best I could do was to just keep the three lasers going as much as possible and on the fifth level I just focused on the little island before the bottom, since everyone seemed to come through there

SNE by Trexxak 2023-05-16T12:33:13Z

The you win screen kind of came out of nowhere. Sometimes the text disappeared before I could read it. Well captured cold, isolated vibes though

Newton Logistics by parkuhrmd 2023-05-03T14:41:05Z

Beautiful looking, really polished game. The music set the mood perfectly. It would maybe have been nice to have a cargo damage mechanic where you get a score based on how many times you bumped the cargo in to something else

Pinball Delivery by jnaver 2023-05-02T09:27:32Z

I beat all the levels except EX-4, which seemed impossible unless I'm missing something. EX-5 required a Herculean feat of coordination but I somehow made it happen. I really like the simple neon aesthetic

Planetary Pizza by mrks 2023-05-02T09:08:19Z

I struggled with it for like 20 minutes, but I finally got 3 coins before smashing in to earth and dying, which I consider a win. The gravity slingshotting is really harsh, I accidentally slingshotted off the sauce plant and ended up 20000 units away from the nearest target. When you're outside of that star background area it's impossibl eto tell your direction or momentum, so indicators for those would be nice. Really cool idea and fun execution!

the postBIRB by LarsieVL 2023-05-16T11:33:09Z

I made 16, the momentum on the birb felt really good. Great stuff for your first game jam!

Something Something Delivery Something by fodi 2023-05-03T14:01:21Z

Maybe I'm just a bad gamer, but I found the non-tutorial level really hard, it would maybe have been nive to have a way of slowing your horzontal speed a bit to let you get walls that you otherwise don't have enough time to drop under.
