Great work - it's amazing that you made such an in-depth game in 48 hours! It was really interesting to explore the mechanics, like managing workforce vs moral and trying to get resources of the appropriate type. I liked how cards had multiple purposes since they both provided an effect and a resource. I managed to keep morale high for a while but was doomed by drawing multiple Computer Virus/Cracked Drill Shafts that became impossible to clear. Nice game!

Very interesting approach. I loved all the different cards that come up, and the tactics necessary to beat all those hazards. It kept me on my toes all the time, I never knew what kind of a hazard will come up next and if I will have the necessary cards to beat it. All the resource combinations and different mechanics kept the game interesting all the way to the end.
Got to the end on my second try, but I had some luck to beat a few hazard combinations that were almost impossible to clear.
Great job and game, really love it!
I made it to depth 11 before dying, really interesting idea. Properly balancing a game like this is really hard in such a short time so I congratulate you for that. Would have liked to be able to see what's already in my deck and maybe a breakdown by suit when picking a card to add.
Update: Played again and got to level 15 before being completely destroyed by Comet Sighted
The first level was a bit rough, but after a few restarts the game "clicked" for me and I had a good time. I *almost* made it past level 5. I was a bit too cavalier with my use of morale early on, and that really hurt me.
My one bit of feedback for improvement would be labeled sections on the board similar to how physical board games would separate card stacks ("Hand", "Tasks", and "Layers" or something like that). At first I interpreted the "Tasks" card as the "current" card that I had drawn, which was confusing until I realized my mistake.
Solid strategy game overall! If this were turned into a physical card game, I'd buy it!

Some of those tasks are rough. I seem to hit a brick wall at level 6. This is not the type of game I normally play so there is a bit of unfamiliarity on my part. I could probably do better with time. The graphics are really good!
Congrats on your entry Quill  I hope you had great fun making it
Once I saw a couple of the screenshots and when I checked in on stream... I was kind of reminded of Promethean ... As usual you hold a very high standard and when looking at your code in the stream - I got to thinking how unstructured my own code is
I hope you'll drop by mine and give it a spin

It took me two times to understand the mechanic of cards being resources and actions at the same time. But it is an awesome game mechanic!
Sometimes elements are refered as Engineering/Science/... instead of their icon was confusing.
I came by the stream twice but you were on break! I am so glad I discovered Ludum dare through your channel some years ago, because I had a blast this year with making an autostereoscopic game!

Very addictive game mechanism!
When I saw one of the themes could possibly be Deeper and Deeper I said to myself that there would have to be a sequel to Drill18! I'm kind of surprised it wasn't a sim style game like the first one. Card games are cool though and I liked the balancing of Workforce to Morale. I can see you had a lot of fun creating the cards as I chuckled at some of the names and descriptions.
An interesting take, I like it but it was somewhat hard to figure out how to play, took a few tries, cards had somewhat inconsistent terminology and could use some way to easier tell what their effect would be.
It kind of overwhelmed me but I always appreciate a good card game. Plus I love your vids. Good job, but a bit more flow to the UI and a slower ramp up could be nice for a more full version. Good for a jam game :)

As usual - really good entry with an interesting card game.
Took me a while to figure out how to complete a task. But once I got a hag of it, I managed to progress quite far into the game.
The ballance needs some work though. Maybe it was just me being unlucky, but towars the ond of the game I was suddenly hit with needing all the scientists when I was hit with double Comet sighting. And with the hand being quite full at this time and absense of cards that would add more science I was locked out to hoping to draw double science from my quite sizable deck on one turn. Didn't happen.
Anyway - pretty fun game.

Nice entry, good job on this!
I found it a bit difficult to understand at first, but figured it out on my second go. Very interesting mechanics, though I wasn't able to make it super far. Well done.
Well, it is really deep. I even couldn't get how to play xD
Great game!
Crazy how well you could balance this in such a short time! I was hanging on with the skin of my teeth multiple times throughout the whole campaign.
Well done!

The first screen the player sees is very overwhelming. Once i got the concept (i think i got it?) it was good, obviously a lot of balancing and game design skill went in to it, so i appreciate that. Very strong on the mechanics side. It's a proper game, but with some quite jammy visuals that will confuse a lot of players that were not there on stream when the design was thought out.
I rate it a "good" out of "cool".
Smart and actually felt balanced, nice game) I would agree that starting screen is a bit overwhelming with information
Once I got the hang of it, it was very addicting! Obviously there are some UX/UI issues that I expect would've been polished on a longer jam. My main suggestion in that regard would be to have different looking cards for each stack (your hand, tasks, and problems). Also a way to view your entire deck while selecting a new card would be handy, but maybe was left out for balance reasons.
Anyhow, great job and a lot of fun!
Awesome! I was _listening_ to the stream most of the weekend while furiously working on my own entry, but didn't play until just now. Turned out great!

Thanks for company Quill! Having your stream on 2nd monitor, while making my own entry, made me finish it)) Game turns out to be very strategic. Having suits names compared to graphics somewhere would be nice! As I'm stumbled not knowing engineering/science icons!

Absolutely crazy how you can hammer out a deckbuilding card game in two days like this. It was a lot of fun to play trying to come up with some different "builds" depending on the available cards.

Fun game, the learning curve was a little hard at first, a lot of information to take in. Great work on the game!
Nice game! I can't say I've mastered it yet, but I'll get there :)

Good game. I little too random for me though. It seemed liked I would complete task just because of lucky draws. I think there needs to be more deck building and a way to thin your deck.

I had the livestream on in the background sometimes during this
I dig this style of game. Some minimal sound effects would have been nice, but considering how little time there is in the Compo, I think it's good that you added graphical polish instead (like a tutorial and some animations, and of course the UI in general). I especially liked the events/blockers, they added a nice atmosphere and kept the game fresh. I do wish there were more player cards though.
Good job!

This is a very good game and managed to beat after only 1 retry. The game definitely needs more polish and card balancing.
My biggest problem is with the UI. Having more then 6 cards in hand makes it very easy to lose control. I wish when having played a card, but is still in use, that the card would disappear and the tags of it would be left behind. Furthermore instead of drawing power cards, I would love that the power cards would be consumed in their own UI bubble showing a power level. This would make more room on the field.
I also do wish with the status cards that adds additional Tag requirements, that these would show on the cards. Right now it is hard to oversee what the actual tag requirements are.
All in all a very lovely deck building game. It does need a bit more work on deck manipulation. And with the wrong 3 status cards that do the exact same effects it is quickly game over. E.G. 2× lose 5 morale per turn, or 2× requires +1 power card and +1 Engineer card. These just make all your current and future hands almost impossible to play.
