Knocked it out of the park as usual, @moski and @jorgegamedev!
The art is particularly nice on this one, with the space monster host looking disappointed when you miss a question or happy when you get it right. The board is well designed, and you have plenty of side mechanics (cards, coins, combos, teleports) to break up the monotony of rolling dice to move. It felt nice to get stuck in teleport hell and rack up a bunch of coins. The collectible pawns for progression was a fun touch as well, although at first I didn't realize what it was I was buying (I expected the characters to appear floating in space and decorate the board).
There seemed to be a pretty good variety of questions; at least I didn't play long enough to notice any repeat. The specific questions might be a weak point for this game; I noticed a few typos, one factual error (Ben Franklin wasn't a president), and overall there seemed to be a strange mix of very easy questions and very niche ones. It would have been neat to have a choice between a hard or easy question for a category (maybe hard gives more combo), or otherwise turn this variability into a mechanic. It is nice that you plan to implement loading your own questions!
The music was fantastic, and played well with the space trivia show aesthetic. I appreciated the attention to detail with different instrumentation depending on which menu you're in. Well done @zachary-blystone.
Beyond the deep space setting, the "deeper and deeper" theme could have been presented more strongly. Was there a mechanic change with the increasing "depth" meter?
And although it's obviously out of scope for the game jam, it seems like this game would be super fun with a multiplayer mode. Trivia games tend to play better in groups, where you can gloat about how much smarter you are than your friends (or vice versa).
Amazing job as usual, Whales And Games! I played this for around 75 minutes before I was like "oh wait I still have around 50 games to rate".
Taking into account the amazing graphics and soundtrack, the ability to add custom questions, and the insane level of polish, this could be your best Ludum Dare entry yet! (And I played Colossorama for quite a few hours in a row) I can't wait to get to work adding some more questions.
As usual I enjoyed seeing all of the Easter Eggs you put in the game! That's one familiar "correct answer" sound, and the Video Games category tile is looking rather "sus". It's floating in space so I doubt it's much of a threat, though.
Also, sorry @jorgegamedev , the trivia host stole all of my cash right before I was about to unlock the ability to play as you. 😕 I did manage to get @moski during one of the few periods where I wasn't constantly getting my money taken away. Turns out duplicate questions are *very very* rare, so I kept failing on ones I didn't know the answers to. 😅

Brilliant game! Everything is done at a professional level. Graphics, sounds, atmosphere - everything is gorgeous. Very, very polished. Just a good full-fledged game made in such a short time. Great job! I hope you collect a lot of good ratings.

YOOOOOO CRAZY GAME!
HOW! How did you make this for the team, this is absolutely fantastic, feels like a full game, I literally have nothing bad to say about it except maybe a volume slider would be nice! An amazing range of topics to go for, cards that felt fair to use, everything was great (Anime and Manga was my best topic haha) The animations of the quiz master were so nice as well!
Amazing work to you all!

This is fantastic. I found myself playing for well over an hour. Very well balanced too, you can really tell that the game was meticulously planned out in difficulty level and design. The questions were really fun too, and my one minor complaint is that some of the questions seemed a little too America-centric for my own (European) taste, haha. That said though, this is honestly polished enough that I would easily buy this game and play it with my friends, so I almost can't believe that I just got to play this for free.

The amount of effort you guys put into this game in such a short time is unreal. It's all polished and fully professional. So much that it doesn't even leave anything to comment on! I managed to get only 1/3 of the questions correct, but I guess trivia games are not made to be easy. Sometimes though the questions concerned topics which I had not the slightest idea about. But then the cards come in, it's a very nice touch which makes the game more interesting.
I wish I could get questions besides Jojo and One Piece right
Amazing game! Top tier art, sound, mechanics and design! Love the general art style, especially for the host. This would be insanely fun as an online party game, would probably overtake 100% Orange Juice as the go-to mario party game for PC.

I think this might be the second game I see from you in a jam, and like the other one, or even more, this game is INCREDIBLY WELL POLISHED! It's really amazing how you are able to create such great games so fast. Like others said, the host animation is especially good, and the game is overall pretty fun, the questions were well balanced and the really hard ones play well with the cards mechanic :) :)
As for other feedback: I didn't understand how to buy card power ups - it seemed like I was only able to buy characters - the cards I got were from the free item tile. A volume controller would be really nice, since I had to mute the game way too early for, even though the soundtrack was rly cool, it was too loud :(
Again, super well done job! Congratulations, see you on the next one :))
FYI, the game can't be played on an ultrawide resolution. I just changed my rez though to get it to work (bottom 2 answers don't show).
Boy those are some tough questions, it was a miracle I was able to do a natural 4-combo (no buffs added to that)! I remember seeing you guys poll for questions so you must've farmed some good ones. I really wonder how many people will be good at the book questions, I basically knew none of them lol.
Like others have mentioned, it wasn't the best use of the theme, but honestly I really like the change of pace from this vs all the various digging games out there. It's hard not to be drawn into the world you created. Everything is so cohesive in the presentation, right down to even the writing.
As a side note, I REALLY liked the different avatars you provided. It's an awesome bonus for the players who have followed your work for a while now as I have. Overall this is yet another entry that serves as an example of what LDers should strive for :)

Fantastic! Loved the art and music a lot. The game itself felt super polished as well, very nice job!
I really enjoyed this game! It was really fun and had some good trivia questions. It was easy to keep going and going just to see what other questions would pop up. Good job!
This is done so well. I honestly hope to see you on the top of the list at the end of Ludum Dare, everything just works for me here!
Got addicted to this game and played it for around 45 minutes. Those sound effects combined with the great artstyle really spiked my dopamine levels!
As everyone else has already said, the polish was incredibly impressive. The only thing I didn't like was all the placeholder questions, they were funny at first but they started getting a little disappointing to see instad of a real challenge. Apart from that, amazing stuff.

Simply put: amazing. Top-notch graphics and audio, fun and addictive gameplay and a real game wide progression system as a cherry on top (extremely rare for a jam game)! Appreciate the wide variety of target platforms you have the game on too.
Also: AMOGUS!

The gameplay's relation to the theme seems maybe a bit far far-fetched, but in every other way this is one of the best games I have come across this jam (so far). Keep up the great work!

Wow, this is an amazing entry! The prevalence of non-questions really made me laugh. That feels appropriate for a capricious entity beyond mortal ken.
The art was great, and I especially liked how the Thing's hand (hand?) kept changing into different objects.
The theme felt a little tacked-on. It would have been good if the void changed as you got deeper, but the gameplay aspect was great. The risk-reward mechanic feels great for a trivia game.
Mainly, I'm amazed at how much there was in this game. So many tile types, so many questions, alternate skins, etc. Very impressive work.

It's really surprising to see a trivia games for a game jam but it works very well, the art is gorgeous and I really love the void themed design of the show's host. The deep theme is really well executed with the "Double or nothing" mechanic at the end of each turn even if the choice to just stop the game and have a highscore doesn't seem to be as worth as continuing to play the game. The questions that have only one good answer are funny and give a breath between two hard questions. There is a lot of works for a jam in this game it is very polished, good job !
I really dig this. It's weird, full of weeb stuff, kept me guessing. It's a really wild departure from the "standard" LD48 game. Art style is wild and interesting. If I was going to make any suggestions it would be to reduce the detail in some of the screens as they're a bit overwhelming. But super solid all around.

Straight up the most complete package of a game I've seen in a Ludum Dare pretty much ever. There's nothing more you could've done. The presentation is phenomenal and I hope to see this on Steam or something in the future.
Gaming.
I need this to be a game on my phone! Super cool!! Great job on this!
A very polished and well presented game, made by a team of 3 people, that's very impressive, you guys are group of creative geniuses. Amazing work.
Very polished trivia game! Would be fun to have multiplayer too!
I think we have a winner people! Good job!

hey! the game its pretty sweet, sound effectc, art, music amazing! I just think there are too many things on the screen sometimes, with too many colors, sometimes i get lost and I dont know where to look. But theres a huge potential, keep it up! ;)
Me and my friend always loved trivia games so I had to try it (and now I'm sending this for them to play as well, even if they didn't participate in LD48, I'm sure they'll like it a lot). It's very polished and pleasant, the questions are great and the cards to bust your gameplay are also a nice touch. Good entry!
Hey, Whale and Games team! Nice to see your entry again! As mentioned in the stream, I thought the game presentation, and most UX layout to be excellent. While I would recommend a few tweaks here and there on the placement of certain buttons and indicators, for the most part, I was able to find most things by myself pretty easily. Most cards were pretty self-explanatory, and helped add strategy to turn the game closer to your own liking. Given Trivia games are, er, not my thing, I would have liked to see a bit more complexity in the board game design, such as branched paths (though I do believe that was cut due to time.)

Wow, incredible amount of polish here, this rarely feels like a jam game at all. I agree with some comments above, multiplayer would indeed be awesome. Congrats!
There isn't much I can say that hasn't been said but if this isn't a top 3 entry in 1 or more categories I'll be surprised. Great job, team!

Stunned by the polish of the game and the presentation, where do you find time to do that, mind blowing. Can't say much more that wasn't said already. Will definitly follow you after that.
[Thanks for submitting your game to the stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1006873415?t=01h49m07s)
Yyyyyyeeeeeaaaaahhh, Immana have to ask y'all to stop making all of us other LD participants look bad. The quality, quantity, and polish y'all bring to the table every Jam is insane, and this one's no exception. I think my favorite little detail is the character select screen. I'm an absolute sucker for cosmetic stuff like that.
If I had one criticism, it might be that it seemed like there was always a lot of stuff going on at once. Maybe it's just my ADHD talking, but I had a hard time remembering I even had cards to play to help me out, as well as a time bonus if I managed to answer the question quickly enough...
All that being said, this was such a joy to play, and I can definitely see myself coming back to it again in the future. Congrats again on another solid entry.

The degree of polish in this game is impressive, you could expect this on a full released game.
Visuals and sound are top quality, and the game concept was an interesting take on the theme. I liked the risk/reward factor added when you switch depths (but it caused me to freak out in the third layer, although I didn't even know how you could fail ). A couple of relatively minor issues I found:
* The cards are too small and hardly stand out from the scene. I rarely felt the need to use them, though (did it once or twice out of curiosity). * Browser version doesn't stretch well on mobile. This was expected and I'd blame Unity for this because the same happened in our project. If you set the browser to identify as a computer then the game will render correctly, but I couldn't tap on the warning dialog. There is a proper mobile version though, and it worked flawlessly for me. * My phone got super hot and battery started draining fast. For a game jam entry performance is not critical, but if you want to expand it towards a full release it would be something to look at.
In any case, your game is amazing and with multiple players I could totally see it as a commercial release. Awesome job!
This was super fun to play! The art style is so vibrant and fun, it gave me a bit of a Day of the Tentacle vibe, I love it! I'm super bad at trivia so I played it on stream and my chat roasted me to oblivion for not knowing so many answers xD This would be a great party game!
Capture.JPG
This was really enjoyable! A nice combination of Mario Party and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
I could have kept playing for a long while, but I figured level 6 was a good place to stop :)
The cards could have been almost double in size in my opinion. They were a tad too small for me to read.
Great work!
y'all are ridiculous. Probably the most identifiable style in LD. As always another crisp 'n' shiny entry from Whales and Games. Your team is able to make trivia iconic and entertaining i'm blown away by the art and engineering working together so well. Making this amount of visual content and implementing over a weekend is beyond me but you pulled it off plus some. Only gripe is I couldn't connect this strongly with the theme but regardless you crafted a highly engaging game. Keep inspiring the rest of us to push!

Really cool game with great art! Congrats!
Congratulations on the game, your arts added to a great designer, brought a quiz to life, did a great job, a big hug to the whole team, and I await your evaluations regarding my game.
Thanks so much for submitting! (Olá Jorge!) I had a lot of fun playing this on stream :D Here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1011888344
Very cool game! I had so much fun. The trivia are not too difficutlt but challenging when you don't know the category. Nothing to add, you absolutely nailed it!

I love the art style. The characters are unique and I had a lot of fun unlocking them **all**.

I had the feeling that the balance of question categories is not that even. I'd like to have more than one music that that I can reach each round, **without teleporting**. Either way, I had a lot of fun and the time went by faster than I realized.

I'd love you to continue working on this and add more questions and maybe new boards? Good job!

Here we go again!
Another that feels so out of place in a jam... this is a product! Very impressive game all around, polished, worked well and beautiful! Interesting questions, very reasonable, even those I didnt know at all. Cool card mechanics which I abused to get cash & combos with the 6s.
If I had any feedback, its that the balance felt "off", it was quite fair and gradual, but by the same token failed to create urgency/dilemna. I never felt like I would or could die, and when it felt like "logically, I could die" (even if it didn't seem reasonable) I cashed in. I thought I might not have given it a fair shake, but I did get a pretty good performance judging by other comments (except the previous one). 1.2k vpoints ~round 12. I see it as a boiling frog deal, you don't notice the difficulty increase, thus missing out on challenge angle. Yet you probably die quite suddenly, causing a blindside/difficulty spike which might be unappreciated. I think bigger difficulty jumps per depth, That or healthbar of some sort such that the risk/impending doom is more obvious.
I could see multiplayer potential since trivia is most fun flexing over others and its got a game board format to boot!
Amazing game overall, good job Whales!
Abaixo está o vídeo e gameplay onde jogo dois jogos, um deles é o seu. :) Espero que goste, logo farei uma revisão completa do seu jogo.
Below is the video and gameplay where I play two games, one of them is yours. :) I hope you like it, soon I will do a complete review of your game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmF1iLXC0nQ
**Analysis...**
1 - Mechanics, Learning and Flow: The game has some very interesting mechanics that work very well together (play dice to know how many moves you will make, draw cards that can affect the movement between houses, answer questions (usually with four options, one of which is true) and (still with the same cards) to be able to use some cards to affect the part of the game that involves answering questions. There is also a scoring system and a card acquisition system (purchases). Learning to play the basics is simple, even more than the main command is given by the mouse; there are only a few points that could be facilitated (I commented on some of them in the video recorded for YouTube). The mechanics of the timer being able to give additional points was also very nice. The game does not increase in difficulty, but the flow is due to the increased risk of continuing to play, which I found very interesting and immersive.
2 - Graphics, Audio and Narrative: The graphic art is incredible. Congratulations. I will point out two polishes that could be implemented: highlight the central text (which indicates our next action); better to delimit where the character is facing (sometimes I got confused, and this is important for the use of cards). The audio was excellent too, congratulations. The narrative is simple and does not seem to have been the focus, but there are signs of a playful type of challenge being proposed to the player.
3 - Culture: The game is full of diverse cultural references. In addition to being an example of a question and answer game, with the addition of cards and some other elements. All of this allows you to explore a lot on social networks to find interesting audiences for advertising.
4 - Monetization: I believe that the game is already close to what you would expect from a smartphone game, who knows, it would increase the question bank to allow you to play for a long time (playing few times I have had several repeated questions). Perhaps a polished version may specialize in some areas of knowledge depending on the country to which the game was distributed.
Thanks for submitting your game to my stream! The VOD is now on YouTube for your perusal (I start yours at 2:10:07):

Full game potential right here. Only thing that is missing is local multiplayer :D
This looks and plays like a professional game, I can't believe it was made in 3 days! Insane polish, amazing art, great music and sound design. I think it's only missing the possiblity to play with friends. I could see this becoming very popular as an online mobile game.
This is a 10/10 from me, congrats!
