LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

DROP by Syrapt0r 2017-12-05T22:05:47Z

Very good platformer! I liked the gameplay, graphics and sounds. Grapplehook wasn't perfect, but it was good enough. I might play again to see the second ending(?). Well done!

Main Framed by oskarOlausson 2017-12-05T20:49:36Z

Fun game with great "battle mechanics"! The music and the visuals were good too. Chromatic aberration and screen shake were nice effects, but they caused a stutter that made the attacks harder to hit (at least for me, maybe this was intended?). And also, I wish the game was a little longer, the final boss came too soon :)

Sunburn by Shimmen 2017-12-05T21:26:21Z

Extremely fun game! Difficulty and length were just right, models and animation work were great, the water shader was top-notch and the game ran surprisingly well in browser. Well done!

LD42 — Running out of space

Trash Tide by Josh Stafford 2018-08-14T00:07:08Z

Fun game! Original and fit the theme well, graphics were nice too! The FOV was too low in my opinion, and all the clicking with the mouse hurt my finger (maybe you could add an option to hold it down to pick up trash). Otherwise very enjoyable game!

Running Out from space to Live by otmani yacer 2018-08-13T23:49:31Z

Fun, but pretty hard game. I would have liked to been able to move with WASD too, but that's just a nitpick.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

King Of The Building by Tiberiusuciu 2018-12-19T19:16:09Z

Satisfying gameplay and great pixel art! The music was fine too. Liked the game a lot, and got to the top :)

Fighting Souls by RAFFE 2018-12-05T12:12:19Z

@franfox The Mac version is now up :)

LD44 — Your life is currency

The Great Unicorn Migration (HTML5) by David Greene 2019-05-19T11:41:49Z

Nice animations and smooth movement on the unicorn! The collisions are a bit off from the graphics though. It's unclear where you can move and where not.

GTApp - Great Tube App by Gaming Night 2019-05-13T18:09:57Z

My favorite game of the jam so far. Incredibly well designed and polished for such a little amount of time. Actually feels like a game!

Pixel's Villagers by gamedevkng 2019-05-19T11:57:40Z

Amazing graphics, effects work and audio, which all contribute to a overall superb mood. It was like actually being in a forest, despite being low poly. But the camera controls were either really bad, or the html build just didn't work as intended.

Sacrificial Ammunition by Cenoon 2019-05-19T11:49:40Z

Great job for a first-timer! And glad you opted out from the graphics category, as they seem like taken straight from an asset store :)

LD45 — Start with nothing

Dot by Hadi Danial 2019-10-10T16:53:40Z

Despite what your profile description says, I think the art was the strong point of this game. Liked the hand-drawn style A LOT, and the way the level appears and disappears in front of you is really cool! My main point of complaint is the collisions and physics; I wonder why didn't you just use a circular collider, matched with the sprite of the dot? The dash and "ground pound" abilities were nice, but a bit unprecise too. Some enemy placements were also a bit tricky, but that could just be my skill level.

Anyway, despite the criticism, I still consider this game as one of the better ones of the jam so far, and you can be proud of yourself! Really good job!

Dot by Hadi Danial 2019-10-10T19:26:20Z

Oh yes, now I see, it was the level's collisions, not the player's. Thanks for clearing that up! I understand that those roundish parts are hard to get right, especially within only few hours of time :)

HiddenThings by Talia 2019-10-11T16:34:13Z

Even though really simplistic, the graphical style was somehow visually pleasing. The music was also surprisingly enjoyable. Gameplay was original and fit the theme well. I glitched through a fence once, but that wasn't that big of an annoyance. I don't have much to complain, a really solid game!

Rottenville by zanzavar 2019-10-14T10:35:30Z

Definitely one of the best games of the jam, was really fun to play! Compared to, lets say BTD, I liked how there were fever, but stronger enemies. The game was well balanced; not too difficult but not too easy. The graphics and animation work were really good, + the audio was superb. The dialogue scene at the beginning set the mood nicely. One thing which would have made this perfect for me, would have been a speed up button (2x speed or something). But besides that, amazing work!

Newborn AI by Lars-Erik 2019-10-16T11:46:35Z

Interesting idea which could have a lot of potential if expanded on. Commands worked as expected, and the story that was there held my interest. The 3D navigation was a bit unclear at first, but once you figured it out it worked well enough. I would have liked to see a list of available commands at any point, maybe with the standard "help" command.

The part where your identity is revealed / you witness the conversation happening was quite innovative. Would like to see how the story moves forward from there. But anyway, really well done for a jam. The web page was snappy and lightweight, which is always a plus :)

The Adventures of Hugh Mahn Through Time by Ninnec 2019-10-10T16:28:12Z

Nice modeling work and art in general. Gameplay was nice with all the abilities and stuff, but the WebGL version lagged quite badly in the action scenes. During the smaller area with 2 characters however, the framerate was stable. Some indication of hitting the enemies, like effects or some kind of health display would have improved the experience a lot. The UI could also have used some work. Still, a good entry!

Bluebirds by hwaet 2019-10-10T15:55:54Z

Very calming game, the music fitted really nicely! The gameplay matched the theme well too. Liked the way the collectibles were animated, and how the bird was built piece by piece. I think the game could have benefited by some actions/powerups to speed up the collecting process and mix up the gameplay a little, but as a jam game I can't complain much. What the red collectibles did was a bit unclear at first too. Still, I liked the simplistic design, and as has been said, the ending cutscene was cute :)

Become Human Again by Cybikitty 2019-10-14T09:56:18Z

An intriguing idea which fit the theme well. The three gameplay styles representing their respected part of being a human were well thought. I personally liked the puzzle (mind) segment the most, though I think it was too short.

The platforming section (soul) was a little problematic for me; the jumping didn't quite respond correctly (probably something to do with the ground check). The collider of the player was also too large, should have been the same size as the player orb, or even smaller. It felt like I died without even touching the spikes.

One thing I really liked about the game was the main menu. The mysterious red cube was really moody. I wonder if the pictures on it have some kind of deeper meaning, or are they just pairs of legs? Anyway, it's a solid game. Well done!

Slow and Steady by palinalif 2019-10-10T16:16:10Z

Cute art and wholesome story, the music was also pleasant to listen! At the beginning I was a little confused about what to do, but then I found the cave and figured out how to proceed. The abilities given by the shells looked cool (especially the balloon one!) but the "puzzles" dealing with them were too straightforward. After the cave the game was pretty much just going up, and then coming back down. But as this was a jam game, I understand the limitations. Good job that you got it finished!

Murder On Peacock Street by Seabird 2019-10-08T00:17:57Z

Great lighting effects and modelling work, aesthetically pleasing! Like has been mentioned, the transitions between areas were a little rough along with the movement method. Texts could have been shorter/faster too. The idea was quite original and fitted theme well (started with no info/clues). Good work!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Escaping by khofez 2020-04-23T18:19:53Z

Somehow the game looked and felt more like an artistic action movie rather than a jam game lol. Shooting at the cars coming from behind felt extremely juicy with the slow-motion, particles, door and car physics, and even a character model laying on floor (which didn't even glitch out, what?!?).

Graphically the presentation was top notch; was expecting just an asset flip of SUPERHOT with driving, but was proven wrong. The rain effects looked amazing, the presentation was clean and it ran well even in the browser on my ultrabook. Soundscape was also spot on. The one thing I'd criticise tho would be the driving, it felt too challenging for me, but then again, could be just me being n00b.

You guys should maybe expand on this idea; I feel like you are onto something. Very nicely done!

The Lost of Nix by Tygrak 2020-05-06T19:32:13Z

Although the gameplay felt a bit dull, the music and the overall mood were great. Like that you used an actual instrument, for a 48h compo game no less! Character creations was also quite a neat little addition.

The scaling of the UI seemed to be constant pixel size or something (and so, at least with WebGL on a higher res screen, the elements were displayed quite tiny). If this is the case, I would recommend to change the canvas scaling mode to scale with screen size (+expand) in Unity, as the game was seemingly made with the engine. It should make the UI display the same with screens of all sizes. Tho overall, not a big deal.

Quite a solid entry, especially for only a one man in 48h. Keep it up!

The Keep! It's Alive! by minibobbo 2020-04-23T17:58:09Z

Wow that was quite something for a jam game; extremely polished, innovative idea with an addicting gameplay loop topped with fitting graphics and audio. Your take on the theme was quite a unique one also, I would never had come up with an idea of a game where you play as a castle/keep which eats people to stay alive lol.

Not much to complain, only thing that felt a bit odd was cursor movement speed (it somehow moved faster than usual when focused in browser but I got used to it pretty quickly). I feel this game would work pretty great on mobile with touch controls too, so maybe you should add some more content and release it there? But anyways, nice entry guys!

Protect It by Laaph 2020-04-29T20:34:57Z

Cool concept, but a bit lacking in the execution. The "it" should be either delayed a bit, slowed down OR (in my opinion the best solution) make the player start ahead of "it" so that you don't have to react in a split second or so.

Graphics were quite simple, but they did got their job done. It was easy to decipher what objects where the enemies, which ones were bouncy and so on, but otherwise the visuals were quite bland. Audio side was a bit better, at least in my opinion. Good that you got some music in the background + sound effects, they help a lot.

The gameplay worked as it should, not much to complain other than that the player movement felt a bit slippery (a bit "rigidbody" like if you what I mean). As the game was made in Unity, you could probably try to fix it by adjusting the physics material, rb component or the movement method, but you probably know that already, as you seem to have made some games in the past too.

I am glad you made a WebGL build tho; it's really convenient for a jam so people can access you game easier. Lots of people only have desktop versions available, so it was ofc a nice + :)

Quite a fine entry, keep em up guys!

Flame Keeper by codexus 2020-04-23T17:37:44Z

For a solo developer, this was a surprisingly great achievement for only a 3 days of work! Definitely got the Zelda vibes from the flame puzzle at the beginning! I think I played the version where you made it 12.5% easier? (I assume 12.5% slower?), but I still felt it a bit too hard for a first puzzle (thought I did manage to beat it after a couple of tries). On another hand tho, the game was pretty short so I think that justifies a bit harsher difficulty curve as well.

Overall, there are only 2 real criticisms that I have. One is that the players movement animation is out of sync with the movement speed. I believe that could be fixed without altering the animation, but I understand that you most likely ran out of time. Another thing that felt a bit flat was the physics; jump height was too low and the movement felt a bit janky. Otherwise, not too much to complain for a jam game.

The graphics, especially the lighting/lightmapping were done really well. I liked the aesthetics, they fitted the theme of the game quite nicely. You also tied the theme well with the game mechanic, keeping the flame alive by not falling in the water and using it for some pretty neat puzzles such as the cannon in the end (which actually worked pretty well!). Glad you didn't just stick to the basics of lighting torches to open doors for the whole length of the game.

I also appreciate that you put the graphics settings in the main menu; that allowed me to play the game on my laptop in a browser with a reasonably good performance. The z-fighting / camera clipping didn't bother me that much; its understandable for a jam game (hell, even some triple A games suffer from it). A longer gameplay length, better movement and animation syncing would come a long way to take the game to a next level, but overall, pretty LIT game :-)

Feed Me by lexi 2020-04-29T10:56:31Z

The concept was a great fit for the theme and the gameplay was fun while it lasted. Liked the reference to the one and only 'Tiger King', but I feel like not including Carole as a plant food was a big wasted opportunity xd!

The Drown by Simon Rahnasto 2020-04-28T18:24:49Z

At first I couldn't get the app to open even thought I had love installed on my Mac. But by granting permissions with chmod and executing the game from terminal it finally ran :)

As previous comments have mostly stated, the game itself is an amazing effort for 72h. The voice at the beginning sounded almost too professional (I wonder if you guys have had previous experience on the area?). The setting and story somehow reminded me of Death Stranding. The shallow surface of the liquid you move in along with ripples and reflections looked create, and the art overall was very consistent. The moody music blended well with the gameplay too.

There are only about 2 nitpicks that I have, both so minor, maybe even preferential that idk if they really are even worth mentioning. Though the movement really felt like you were running in water; you know, it slows you down, I think that for an action game, it felt a bit sluggish. I believe Death Stranding was also criticised for same kind stuff tho xd. The other thing I want to point out is **extremely** minor: when hovering over the different workbenches, they had a visual indicator (outline), but in the upgrade menus itself, it was a bit difficult to decipher what I could click and what I could not. Again, a small nitpick. Lastly, in the movement tutorial where it told to move with WASD, but you could only move down, it got me a bit worried that my keyboard didn't work properly or smth. But thankfully, it only lasted for a second or two.

I didn't get to try all of the weapons (or even finish the game actually), but the one that I tried felt really satisfying to use, with its sound effects and visuals. I felt like the game had a quite a lot of content, with the waves of enemies, guns, upgrades, voice acting, AI companions etc. which is quite an astonishing achievement for a jam game. I feel like not much would be required for a basic Steam release; I have seen much less ambitious games making their way there nowadays. Food for thought.

Great job guys & girls!

Evergreen by RAFFE 2020-05-03T11:09:34Z

Thanks for leaving feedback @minnka! Yeah, the tree's health can be a bit difficult to spot. There is a bouncing red heart inside the trees trunk, which gets more and more visible over time when losing health. At first tho, its not visible at all, so later on it can be quite hard to notice in the midst of all the other stuff.

Evergreen by RAFFE 2020-05-11T05:36:40Z

@backurio appreciate you got time to play the game and leave such detailed feedback!

Yes, we should definitely have had some pause functionality included, but simply ran out of time. I know that it's basically just setting the timescale to 0.00000001 or 0, but still.

The no spacing between the letters was actually not a bug xd. We just didn't have time to balance the difficulty curve, so it was left like that. It would probably be the first thing to change in post, but as it's a jam game, and still beatable, we didn't patch it. And yes, I believe we did use the Time.deltaTime there too^.

VampySitter by MacDoom 2020-05-10T19:28:25Z

The presentation side of the game was great. From the title screen to the vampire's individual expressions every sprite seemed very finely drawn. Animations of "Vampy" were definitely the highlight of the game, along with the original idea, which was very fitting for the theme.

Audio was mostly great. There was a small bug with the music which played at game over, as it didn't stop when pressing restart, and then continued to play on top of the starting track. A small yet annoying bug, but as you probably ran out of time to focus on small quality of life fixes like that one, I'll give it a pass xd.

Another nitpick: on the difficulty selection screen (along with the rest of the minor UI you had in place), it would have been nice to be able to use the mouse, as it can be used in the actual gameplay too.

Overall tho, I think the biggest issues in the game were the controls, camera movement (which does work as expected, but felt a bit unintuitive) and the lack of explanation. Without reading the jam page, the controls and the objective were quite unclear to dechiper from the game itself. You did at least have the controls listed in the help section of the main menu, but if you could have somehow taught them through gameplay or a short tutorial it would have helped a lot. Remember: people don't read!

But despite the few flaws I mentioned, I think you still have a great LD entry here. For a one man team, I must congratulate you for this achievement! A quite unique and stylish jam game, great job!

YAB by Lars-Erik 2020-05-01T19:57:32Z

What a cute creature! Gameplay was quite basic, but I liked the aesthetics with the 3d modelled foods and the overall looks of the blob. It had nice expressions with the sound effects and the jiggle. Some sounds though were a bit annoying and repetetive compared to the others. Maybe small variations to the volume and pitch could alleviate it a bit? There were clips which played a bit delayed too, but overall, not a big deal.

I liked the visual indication of the alignment with the "angel ring" (or aureole I think? Ain't a native speaker so had to google it, thanks for helping me learn a new word!) and the devil horns, they were a nice touch. Although I still found the objective and the rules of the game to be a bit confusing; without reading the ldjam description it's quite hard to decipher what's going on based on the gameplay alone. But as you had even less time than the 48h compo default (12-14h really isn't a lot, I can tell from experience too), I understand that you had to wrap it up in a rush, without time for quality of life improvements and such. So knowing that, it seems that you were able to make the most of your time, as the game albeit its shortcomings, got completed in quite a playable state.

Good job for this on! And hope you get more time in the future jams, whenever you decide to participate again.

MyTube by backurio 2020-05-06T20:14:57Z

Extremely satisfying gameplay. Extremely. Visuals were stylish and clear, and the audio side was spot on too. I appreciate the inclusion of the sound and post processing settings (no, its not a shader xd); without the distortion the game was much more pleasing to play.

I eventually got to the end, it took quite long but the gameplay was addictive enough for me to continue. But I must say, that the difficulty curve was almost non existent, if there was any at all. The enemies spawned very sparsely, and there was never a real challenge. If you are going to expand on this project, that would be the main thing to improve on. Tho I have noticed, that somehow easy games do feel *really* addictive to play, especially juicy ones like this^

The humour of this game tho, was spot on! It described the current situation of YouTube quite accurately... The enemy themes were really clever, with demonetisations, copyright strikes and such. Also, the concept of defending you videos from them to earn subs, views and money fit the theme really well! The stats system was well made too, and it was visually pleasing to watch the views, ad money, subs etc. flow to and from the videos, and surprisingly with very little lag! (did you make use of the Unity's new DOTS / ECS features or were those all just basic GameObjects?). Overall, I don't think I even encountered any bugs (or at least didn't notice any) which was nice!

Overall, a superb game, from the idea to the execution. Amazing job fellows, keep it up!

Keep It Alive by minnka 2020-05-10T19:50:53Z

Reminds me a bit of Elmo or Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, and that's not a bad thing. I don't know what method you used to make "hair", but it looks pretty damn authentic, great job on that!

As far as the gameplay, it was quite bland, but followed the theme and generally worked. The WebGL version wasn't too great (at least on a computer), but it functioned. For Ludum Dare tho, I recommend to target desktop first, mobile second, as most people play these on their computer. But hey, at least you didn't make it like NES or VR exclusive or something, cause that would make it even harder for people to experience.

One epic of a creature you got there, nicely done! :-)

Revenge of the Woods by Robonaut121 2020-05-07T09:24:08Z

Rolling as the "forest spirit" felt nice and the game was relatively bug free. Music was also fine.

Your utilization of the pixelated art style tho, was really inconsistent. Mixing widely differing resolutions with each other usually leads to a messy presentation, as it did in this case too. Imo the high res "forest spirit" looked off compared to the trees etc. The background should always be higher res or same as the foreground, so that it looks as being further away from the view.

As I said before, the rolling physics felt pretty great, but the gravity was way too floaty and the jump height way too low. The distance to move at the start before facing the first enemies was also WAY too long, as you had to travel it again and again every time you got hit. Level design seemed also pretty bland.

The font used in the "story slides" at the beginning was quite awful. It was extremely hard to read, and also overflowed from its destined area on the right (at least in the WebGL build), which made it even more difficult to read.

A decent entry tho, overall. Keep on making games and participating ld; it's a great way to improve you skills and push your boundaries forwards. But still, good job for a beginner solo dev.

The Last Guardian by civmaniac 2020-05-12T13:04:02Z

I don't know what can be said that hasn't already been said (sooo many comments xd). Genuinely interesting gameplay tho, and unique ideas. Enemy and cacti AI were solid. Art style too was refreshing amongst all the other jam games. From the game mechanics, I liked the clouds the most, although they were all really solid. If I had to complain about something, it would probably be the music (which started to sound quite repetitive after a while) and maybe the movement speed could be a little faster?

Really enjoyable and well made game, and as you guys are seemingly planning to continue the development further, I hope you the best of luck with that!

Tambo and Hambo by GazaReap 2020-04-21T06:22:48Z

It was a fun and cute game. But it was a bit too hard to keep Hambo alive. Refilling the water didn't always work properly. Overall it was a funny experience and I liked the music. Keep up the good work :)

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-04-30T08:13:08Z

One of the most well-rounded entries I've seen in this jam so far. Hilarious and innovative idea *(humour++)*. Really addictive gameplay * (fun++)*. Fitting music *(++)*. And so on.

It's kinda strange, but somehow I couldn't find much to complain about this one, overall its just really solid. Great work!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

COLORSPACE by Thought Reactor 2020-10-07T19:44:06Z

Although the relation to the theme is quite vague, the game itself is good. Visually it reminds me a lot of Manifold Garden (great game!), while gameplay wise seems like a combination of Color Switch and Portal. The character pov model with hands and the controller looks especially great, and even the inclusion of chromatic aberration like effect feels at home here, which is quite rare. Additions like being able to run along with more stages would have been appreciated, but good job for the limited time nonetheless.

Time Crash by Gonzalol 2020-10-07T19:07:00Z

Top-notch music and sound! Clean graphics, and gameplay matched the theme. I reached a score of just 12 as I am pretty bad at memorising these sorts of things. Would be a fun mobile game, good job!

The Cold Loop by RAFFE 2020-10-06T11:19:45Z

@kovalok Thanks a lot for playing our game and giving great feedback! About not finding the killer tho, every time you get a "good" or "bad" ending the murderer will be picked again at random (for replay value), so that's most likely why you didn't catch him or her although you tried every character^

But when you get killed and sent back in time the murderer and item locations will always be same, so you can make progress each cycle. They will only change once the loop is broken.

The Cold Loop by RAFFE 2020-10-07T10:30:37Z

@arad-hamidsamiee There surely is! Your goal is to break the loop by finding the murder weapon, figuring out who the killer is/was, and putting them out of their misery. But yeah, the ingame instruction are quite unclear as we ran out of time, sorry about that :(

And thanks for your feedback, greatly appreciated

Impact Juggling by TheWustache 2020-10-16T21:03:59Z

Satisfying game! The delay before the first ball is kinda long, but overall everything seems well thought out. Sounds were good, despite the lack of music. Simple but fun game, great job!

Peck-It! by StinkyKitty 2020-10-16T20:51:39Z

Simple and nice clicking game, a good fit for mobile. Sounds effects and artwork were nice, although the music was a bit too loud (would have liked a volume slider). Good job!

Delivery Boy Forever by civmaniac 2020-10-06T13:24:36Z

Wellll that took long (like half an hour xd). The plot unfolded little by little, which kept my interest. Although at the beginning things got a bit monotonous (lots of clicking on texts to find the special words), I slowly got the hang of it.

The amount of dialog in the game was staggering for a jam game. And nearly all of it was coherent and well done. The little details such as the TV, Scrubby dialog (I think that was his name?) and the references were really interesting. Maybe there could have been more of those intractable elements in the scenes and less basic dialog, but that's just my opinion.

The graphical style was clean and consistent, dialog was well written, idea fit the theme well. Also liked that you also included some settings, a neat and useful addition.

Good job on this one you two! :)

Eternal Run by kovalok 2020-10-06T12:37:36Z

Extremely fun game man! The game feel was fantastic; very satisfying, music was epic, and sound was punchy. Great gameplay balance as far as I got. Idea fit the theme really well while also being original. Power-ups such as the flash speed one felt epic to use and were a nice addition. Upgrades were a fine inclusion too.

The UI is the one thing I feel could have been improved (+ the font of controls text sticks out a bit from the rest) and perhaps some of the graphics, but as a compo game this one was really impressive. Great job!

Merry-Go-Madness and The Claw Of Survival by LetterAfterZ 2020-10-08T08:30:59Z

Extremely original idea, personally couldn't have come up with such in a million years xd. Nice combination of drawn and pixel graphics, both looked great. Good job you two!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Vast Trivia Of The Void by JorgeGameDev 2021-04-29T08:02:47Z

Simply put: amazing. Top-notch graphics and audio, fun and addictive gameplay and a real game wide progression system as a cherry on top (extremely rare for a jam game)! Appreciate the wide variety of target platforms you have the game on too.

Also: AMOGUS!

amogus.png

The gameplay's relation to the theme seems maybe a bit far far-fetched, but in every other way this is one of the best games I have come across this jam (so far). Keep up the great work!

The Fall of Alice by kr4ft3r 2021-04-29T07:16:19Z

Strange stuff. Gameplay wise there wasn't much besides collecting the letters to hear the creepy music, so I opted to read the story from the browser's web inspector (sorry for cheating xd). Personally I have only seen the movies (Disney and the Tim Burton one) so I am not sure if the text was taken directly from the book, but it surely seemed like Alice in Wonderland. The end paragraph concerning Lewis Carroll was quite shocking if true, didn't know about the author's dark past before.

As far as the ratings go, the concept fit the theme well and the overall mood was very coherent. Afterwards I definitely understand what you meant about the game describing the current state of society, tho the topic would probably be a better fit for something like a school essay than a video game.

Fever Dream by RAFFE 2021-04-30T08:42:46Z

Glad you had fun @linkwin !

May I ask what device you played the game with on android + did it run well? I personally have an older phone and it lagged quite a bit, so I am curious about how well it performed on your's?

Fever Dream by RAFFE 2021-04-30T13:56:18Z

@linkwin great to hear! :ok_hand: And yeah we didn't put too much effort in the touch controls, just scraped something together and made sure they were functional.

Salvage Quest by Rovernoon 2021-05-01T16:48:23Z

Controls felt smooth and I really liked the sound effect that played when scanning/pointing at the treasure. The map was a nice addition in combination with the fact that the tile selected effected the depth of the level itself. Like the others have already pointed out tho, there could have been more explanation at the beginning and a clear goal to work towards, but overall a solid entry.

Gecko's Chronicles: The Miserable Men by RAFFE 2021-10-17T22:31:48Z

Thanks for playing our game @geckoo1337 ! The jumping is indeed quite finicky and would definitely be the next thing we fixed were we to update the game.

About the tech, we used an app called Polycam to capture the environments as 3D models. For a larger scan the depth data was quite rough tho. We (me & @raffe) started out with long capture sessions, like 20 minutes for a single room walking around and scanning every nook and cranny. But after scanning we realized that the app wasn't able handle that much data (the results were somehow worse than the minute or two long test scans we did at first) so we decided to keep the scans short (10 minutes or so) with more coordinated routes to avoid overlapping scanning as much as possible. After exporting the captures as .obj files our 3D model expert @jokku then tweaked the meshes a bit in Blender, but to make them actually look good would have taken way too much time so we left them in the kind of "unstable" state.

The consumer grade 3D scanning technology is evolving quickly, but right now it's still very much in its infancy. Even with a phone that has depth sensors (e.g. LiDAR on iPhone 12 Pro and forwards) the precision isn't too great so it's up to the software how presentable the output will be. There are probably more advanced apps than the one that we used (and we don't have much experience on the scanning itself so our results were definitely less than optimal), but to achieve a usable result for a commercial game would most likely require to stitch the textures and depth data manually & do edit in post. But overall, we are satisfied enough on how the models turned out. At least they fit the theme well xd.

Spherry by Rewzu 2021-10-18T23:26:00Z

The presentation was clean, liked the water shader & the cute round animals a lot! The concept of keeping the animals on top of the unstable ferry matched well with the theme. As for criticism, the controls felt a bit wonky. Perhaps there could have been an option to tilt the ferry forwards and backwards as well as from left to right? Some music would also have gone a long way to spice up the mood alongside the ambient sound, but overall this is a solid entry. Well done for 48 hours!

Outstanding Acaipowered Spaceship by Derek Volker 2021-10-17T18:24:06Z

A nice shmup you got there, well done for 48h! The bosses were the most fun part of the game imo, levels themselves were a bit too long & one could just dodge everything without shooting a bullet. The music and the pixel art style complemented each other well, and the controls were solid. I liked all the sound effects except the shooting sound which could have been more "laser like" and perhaps used some random variation when repeating. The theme of instability was there, but felt a bit tacked-on. The 3 bosses & their AI were really well made tho, it was a joy fighting them! All in all, great work!

Under P'ARRRR by Fear Games 2021-10-17T18:39:04Z

Nice low poly art & fun mechanics! Reminded me of a game called "WHAT THE GOLF?" in a good way. Controls & physics felt a bit clunky, but they were functional. Didn't see a much of a relation to the theme, but other than that, great work!

AFTER SUN by rufson 2021-10-18T22:56:22Z

Amazing graphical presentation! Moving on the planets felt smooth & the parallax effect on them looked great. Controls, graphics & mood were all solid. Taking off the planet and flying felt great. However, guiding the citizens to the ship was quite tedious. There were either too much of them or the amount one could guide at once was too low. Audio side was fine, and the game did get more unstable the further I progressed so it does fit the theme. Overall, good job!

Oopsie Potion by CodeRaurus 2021-10-20T16:55:13Z

Fun and nicely polished little game! Graphics, sounds and the overall game feel were all great! There isn't too much content, but the content there is feels solid. The relation to the theme might be a bit vague, although the potion pot is unstable. Anyway, excellent job for a single dev in 48h!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Untitled Shooty Game by hungryroy 2022-04-18T10:27:47Z

Core gameplay is fun. From controls to enemy AI it all works great. Graphics and audio are nothing too special, but they get the job done. However, the explosion/damage taking sound effect is WAY too loud compared to the rest of the audio. Had you had the time to implement all the planned features the game could have been even better, but overall great work for a solo entry.

Final Forest by MartensCedric 2022-04-16T21:07:51Z

It's always nice to see jam games written more or less from scratch rather than just using Unity or such. The source code of the project seems really clean.

You have a neat little tower defence going on here. Gameplay-wise it all seems to work pretty great. Quality of life improvements would be welcome (like seeing the range of squirrel archers if it is finite + overall balancing), but there is a good base here. Graphics are simple, but effective. The colors fit together really well. Sounds and music are nothing too special, but they add to the experience nonetheless. The application crashed on me at one point, but by then I had already experienced most of the gameplay (I think) so it was no biggie. Very good job overall, keep it up!

Final Forest by MartensCedric 2022-04-17T16:52:55Z

It was the less crashes version @winter2277. I played the game in a Windows 11 ARM virtual machine so that could be why it crashed, although it did work fine up until that point.

Kore o Kawasu by lilkrit 2022-04-20T18:53:34Z

Good job for a few hours of work. Respects the theme well. Although the gameplay isn't anything special the music and visuals are quite nice. Like others have mentioned the gameplay area should have borders.

Wizard Hunt by Timur_Bahadir 2022-04-07T19:23:02Z

The tower wasn't infinite after all :)

Fun little game! The fact that enemies didn't damage you but simply slowed you down was refreshing. Gameplay felt smooth and the graphics were solid. More variety and length could have been appreciated but that applies to nearly any game out there. Great job for a two person team!

Grieventide by Abdonatioera 2022-04-18T11:10:06Z

img.png

A really "moody" entry ;-) The art looked really cool, with the morphing pixel vignette and the gooey final boss being the highlights for me. The gameplay loop was a bit repetitive, although it didn't bother for too long as the game itself was quite short. More variation in terms of enemies and environment would have been nice, but for a solo (!!!) entry the amount of content was absolutely fine. Combat and the controls worked well and the audio side complemented the overall package really nicely. One minor thing/issue I noticed (not sure if intentional) was that the player sprite flickered a bit while moving causing the player to look a bit fuzzy during gameplay (played in WebGL with Chrome). The enemy sprites didn't exhibit this behaviour tho.

Anyways, AMAZING work for a solo entry! Keep it up!

Farm Dog by Trypants 2022-04-07T19:06:03Z

Very fun and satisfying game! The animals look epic and the music sounds great! Online leaderboards are a great addition rarely seen in jam games. The concept fits the theme well and the overall mood is very coherent. Gameplay works smoothly and the controls feel great. Enemy animals could perhaps use more variety in terms of gameplay as they are quite similar in that regard. The egg shooting could also have some sort of visual feedback on hit. Other than those two nitpicks, great job!

The Last Days of RIPLEY 9000 by Human Writes Code 2022-04-21T11:28:36Z

Where alien? xD

Fantastic graphics work! Even the UI is really stylish. The soundscape is also excellent, apart from the walking sound which is a bit annoying. The environment, music and concept in general blend together nicely creating a very distinct sci-fi mood.

The gameplay loop is build very much around the theme of the jam, however I personally find it a bit boring. Walking around the map is quite slow and uneventful, and the management of the resources and energy feels a bit tedious. Perhaps an ability to sprint at the cost of consuming more energy and gameplay variety like enemies or environmental challenges could have been added to spice things up a bit?

The core gameplay works well tho (controls, resource gathering etc) and for two person team there is a decent amount of content considering the graphics and audio are very polished. A great entry overall, keep up the good work!

Aster Defense by emrod 2022-04-07T18:40:43Z

Great concept and solid execution. As others have already mentioned the difficulty curve could use some tweaking (if such exists xd) as it's seemingly impossible to lose after a certain point. Graphics are on the simpler side but get the job done. Same goes for the sound effects. Lack of music is a bummer, but the ambient noise and sound effects do fit the space theme/mood quite well.

Planet Saver by PashaLoban 2022-04-16T19:18:48Z

Although the game is very bare-bones it functions well enough. The way the cracks appear on the earth sprite looks cool. Lack of a proper difficulty curve stings as it feels like you could continue forever. Still, fine job for a compo entry. hs.png

The End Is Coming by MOOOKS 2022-04-18T10:00:09Z

Very fun game! Gameplay was really smooth and quite addictive. Sound effects and music were great. Power-ups were a good addition to add some variety. Graphics were coherent apart from the meteor trail which could have perhaps been more pixelated to better fit with the rest (tho that's just my opinion). Overall the game was really satisfying to play, excellent job for a one man team!

Hold The Line by Griggy 2022-04-16T19:48:41Z

An ambitious concept for a jam game, but you pulled it off nicely. The troop AI works really well. Directional alignment while placing the units is a bit wonky, but otherwise the controls work as expected. UI could use some design improvements, but the graphical style of the gameplay looks refreshingly unique. It would have been nice to have a more dynamic camera/view so one could admire the action from closer rather than being fixed to a birds-eye-view. There seems to be nice animation work and detail on the troops, but they are hard to see when the camera is situated far up. All in all great job tho. Keep it up!

Keep Yourself Alive by Nocuous Pinch 2022-04-21T10:43:16Z

Very enjoyable game! Graphics and especially the music and sounds are great. Being able to adjust settings without having to quit to main menu is a valued feature for a jam game. More variety in terms of gameplay would have been appreciated (upgrades, more power-ups, different enemy types etc.), but the core gameplay functions really well and is fun. Good job!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

The Many Short-Lived Adventures of a Box by Criobite 2022-10-21T14:44:15Z

Really fun game, was a joy to play from beginning to end. The theme was successfully baked into the metroidvania gameplay without feeling tacked on. Movement felt smooth and upgrades kept the gameplay fresh. Graphics were simple but clean. Liked how the title etc. were integrated into the first level, no main menu required.

As for criticism, the difficulty curve felt kind of reversed as getting the first upgrades/keys was harder than getting the last ones (at least for me, just a slight nitpick tho). Music was nice, but extra sound effects could have juiced up the game feel. A respawn counter or an overall timer could also have added some replay value for chasing high scores.

Overall a fantastic entry, definitely one of the better games of the jam that I have played. Great job! Screenshot 2022-10-21 at 16.58.39.png

Moonbase by SaxOps1 2022-10-15T22:12:07Z

Cool concept for a game, vaguely reminds me of bomb survival maps in Little Big Planet. Surviving from the falling asteroids is enjoyable, but there could be more variety in the environment and building options. Perhaps some resources could only be found deeper underground so they would unlock as the asteroids dig deeper? Graphically the game looks clean, the subtle screen shake is a nice touch. Gameplay functioned well, although the static camera locked on the player made the movement feel heavier than it probably was, in addition to making it harder to see the surroundings. Lack of sounds was also a bit disappointing as they could have really enhanced the game feel and provided feedback about the asteroids hitting the ground etc. Core of the game is really good tho, collecting the dropped resources, dodging the asteroids and building stuff is very enjoyable. Good job!

Fun Time Games by LuckyFeathers 2022-10-16T11:38:25Z

Excellent graphics and animation work. Visuals and audio really set the circus-like mood. Variety in levels and the progressing difficulty spiced up the simple gameplay nicely. The game could be a great fit for mobile. Online leaderboard is a great addition for a jam game. Short but sweet experience, good job!

Turbo City Golf Club by tenshi42 2022-10-07T20:22:17Z

The idea of playing golf in a city environment is very intriguing. Being able to enter the surrounding buildings was a nice touch, but in terms of gameplay it didn't seem to affect it all that much. Perhaps there could have been shortcuts through the windows etc? Having the features you mentioned (vehicles, pedestrians, abilities) implemented could have gone a long way to spice things up, but the core of the game is still very much playable. Looks like the theme was not taken into consideration, but you seemingly opted out of the category so can't fault you on that.

Music and the audio side was well done, same goes for the character and building models. UI was functional, although the font in the how to play menu was a bit hard to read. Core gameplay mechanics like hitting the ball and moving the character worked, but they were a bit clunky. Player movement was quite slippery and not in sync with the movement animations. Camera occasionally clipped inside the environment and the player model which was a bit annoying. The cursor could also have been locked and hidden during gameplay to help with the camera movement.

With a bit more time in the oven the experience could have been significantly more enjoyable, but that's the case with vast majority of Ludum Dare entries overall. Anyways, great job for a solo entry.

bot.copy() by Druvsaft 2022-10-15T20:57:25Z

Great puzzle game! Took a moment to understand the mechanic, but once it clicked the gameplay was a blast. One thing I would tweak would be a bit longer first cooldown after a restart, sometimes I accidentally missed the first move cause it happened so quickly. Graphics looked quite basic, but music and sounds were nice. Quite unique idea which fit the the theme nicely. Well done!

Deca-second by aa4z2 2022-10-16T00:32:35Z

Extremely unique and creative idea with a solid execution. Movement around the clock felt great and playing the first few levels was exciting. Somewhere around level 5-11 however the game got extremely repetitive as no new mechanics or enemy types were introduced. I ultimately quitted at level 16 cause I was not sure if there was ending as the only difference between levels at that point was the number of enemies at startup. I also didn't like how it was random if the clock's pointer spawned an enemy, teleport or wall, as some levels could go on for way too long if enemies spawned at certain points.

Audio side was solid, liked how the music progressed in the first levels. Graphics were simple but effective. Theme was taken into consideration nicely. Less randomness, more enemy types (like ones that shoot projectiles that fly around the clock etc.) and more variety between levels would have made the game even more enjoyable, but amazing job for a 72h jam!

BTW, how many levels are there in total? Is there an ending?

BackToSchool by Ironfred 2022-10-15T21:23:33Z

The atmosphere was impressive, seeing Teddy's shadowy figure moving in the distance was genuinely creepy. Audio side was also well executed. There were a few bugs (you could clip through doors by running against them, the flashlight was a bit finicky etc.) but nothing completely game breaking. Mouse sensitivity was also a bit too high. Graphically some models looked good, but the walls lacked a texture. White walls with the bright flashlight looked a bit jarring. Quite well rounded horror entry overall, good job & keep it up!

Peekaboo by VictorFinger 2022-10-06T21:13:56Z

Absolute banger of a horror game, nice jump scares all around. The narration at the beginning was a fine addition, set the mood nicely. The overall length of the game could have been longer tho. Performance was quite abysmal, and motion blur was quite intense. Theme was well respected, sounds were epic (the monster screams especially) and graphics descent. Great job overall!

The Box by Lukas0842 2022-10-05T22:22:49Z

A solid puzzle game for 48h. Idea was executed well and there were no bugs in sight. Having instructions visible on the sides was helpful. Level designs were well thought out, later ones got quite tricky but still manageable. The automatic rotation every 10 seconds fit the theme but felt a bit tacked one. Thankfully there was also an option to rotate instantly. Could have used some sounds and music, but great job nonetheless.

Polyhedron by Skeptes 2022-10-18T13:26:07Z

Intriguing visual style. The pixelated wireframe graphics and fonts mesh together very well. Also liked the equations etc. flying in the background. Aesthetically top-notch work. Gameplay too was quite fun and the difficulty progressed nicely. Good amount of variation also. Like others mentioned however, there isn't much time to pay attention to the visuals as the player's attention is focused on typing. Amazing work overall for solo entry, very enjoyable experience.

LD52 — Harvest

Harvester by Sublustris 2023-01-26T20:51:08Z

Simple but solid graphics & gameplay. I couldn't hear any sounds/music when playing, so if there's none you should perhaps opt-out of the audio category. Good job for a compo entry!

Tractor vs. Ufo by pcmaster 2023-01-26T20:34:42Z

Moving around the planet etc. all function well with no major problems. Graphics are fine, excluding the skybox which looks a bit too repetitive. The gameplay is also a bit dull in the long run, and with so many apple's to collect it feels like it overstays its welcome a bit. In short: too many apples, otherwise great job! xd

Aorta by Cloughd 2023-01-26T19:07:42Z

Solid horror game, always nice to see them! More jumpscares would have been appreciated, but the lore was decent and the darkness chasing you was well done. Good job!

Crophunt by Bugord 2023-01-26T14:46:23Z

Physics and animations blended together really well and looked juicy, especially the tractor and the different crops around the crystal area. Theme was met as accurately as possible. The tractor handled well and the "unstuck" ability worked great, even tho I didn't get stuck it felt nice to use xd.

The way the collected crops appeared in the cart behind your tractor with physics and possibility of spilling over was really well made, felt really solid. The bumpy fields in the beginning made for a clever hazard as the crops spilled over if you drove too recklessly. The intro video linked on the jam page looked like a nice touch, but for some reason it failed to play at the beginning while playing in browser on my machine (the ability to skip it was a good addition in my case^). The main objective was a bit unclear tho, even with the arrows pointing to where you should go (?). There was no visible score either, which made the objective a bit confusing. But other than those minor complaints, you have a great entry here, very unique and solidly executed concept!

Evergreen 2 by JustMars 2023-01-11T11:06:54Z

@mynvs @ben-lusted the Windows build is now up! We were supposed to have it up sooner, but discovered that Unity's URP/Lit shader was broken when built on Windows vs what it looked like in editor (2021.3.16). We changed it to a custom Lit shader that looks identical and now it behaves as intended.

Hope you can give our game a try now :D

Evergreen 2 by JustMars 2023-01-26T23:14:15Z

Thanks for feedback @cobaltjt! Glad you found enjoyment in our game!

The knife near the cabin serves no gameplay purpose, we had plans for it at one point when we made the model, but ran out of time so we just threw it in as decoration. The apple and deer icons represent resources that spawn in the world, but yeah they are a bit unclear.

When It's Harvest Time by Hoichael 2023-01-26T19:26:14Z

A masterpiece. Laughed so hard when the gameplay started XD. The one thing I would change would be remapping the restart-key to something other than R as it's often used for reloading and one can accidentally restart the game (on the first try at least), but other than that I r8 8/8 gr8 job m8(s)!!!!

Night of the Werevester by RaynaldDantigny 2023-01-26T22:06:00Z

Extremely fun gameplay! Once you get in a flow flying through the fields is very satisfying. Great audio work also, the positional effect of the stereos etc. sounded very nice. The humorous cutscene at the beginning was well executed too. Amazing job overall!

LD54 — Limited Space

How to Po by Decentsauce 2023-10-11T21:40:19Z

Very well executed idea, gameplay felt snappy and audio visual side was very juicy (especially liked the cat xD). Having controls on the mouse was a bit odd, would have enjoyed jump being space and grab something like E.

Game was a bit too challenging (for me at least), perhaps giving the player a health or two so they would bounce once from lava before restarting the level or something would have made it more manageable, but other than that you have a REALLY solid game here, amazing work!

The Final Years of Atlantis by kleinzach 2023-10-18T14:09:24Z

Unique idea with a solid building system. Visuals and music were nice. Having an objective would have made the game more interesting, at least for me. The city could perhaps have sunk on its own while building? Still, overall a good job.

One flew over the Poopoo's nest by tiffi 2023-10-18T13:40:33Z

Oh sh*it, the gameplay was actually decent. Trump blended in nicely with the other clowns. Poop sounds were disgusting but the game was actually funny, humor 100.

Robo Rush Hour by michaelaranda 2023-10-18T12:50:39Z

Amazing entry! Took a second to realise that the middle lane had to be kept clear, but once that clicked the game was very enjoyable! The in-game visuals and audio blend together really well, the concept was inline with the theme and the core gameplay was really fun.

Visibility of the back rows was a bit hard to decipher with the tilted camera angle. It could be remedied by having the camera fully top down or by some visual clues like outlines or markings on the ground showing the tiles that are clear with different style etc. UI was a bit rough in contrast to the 3D visuals, but that's understandable for a game jam. + It seems that you have already fixed some of these in the post-jam version.

More gameplay variety in terms of different shapes and sizes for the carriages and adjustments to the overall gameplay loop could go a long way to make this concept into a full fledged game, but for a jam game what you have is outstanding, fantastic job!

Mind the Gap by LelulaGames 2023-10-18T12:17:38Z

Solid entry with nice visuals. Felt like the movement direction wasn't aligned with the camera, but other than that the gameplay was solid. The play button in the title screen could have been larger as it was a bit hard to spot. Good work overall.

Pickle Packer by Tiseno 2023-10-13T20:06:49Z

I'M PICKLE RIIIIIIIIICK!!! (sorry xd it had to be said)

While packing pickles is no joke, this game shows it can be fun. The core gameplay is there, just missing the win/lose conditions and balancing. Theme of the event is clearly taken into consideration and executed well. Visuals are extremely simple but the color choices are nice. Solid entry for a one person project, keep it up.

Distant Horizons by oleg20111511 2023-10-18T13:22:33Z

Interesting idea. Instructions on this page were essential for knowing how to play, so it would have been nice to have them in game. Visuals are simple, but not ugly. Sound effects would have gone a long way to make the game feel more juicy. A solid compo entry overall, good work.

Unlimited Space Shawarma by SID37 2023-10-08T22:01:51Z

Extremely well made and fun game! Love how the UI, instructions etc. are in 3D space. Gameplay works very well and is clearly built around the theme. Got Overcooked and Job Simulator vibes. Feels like this concept could be taken further in a full production. The game could work very well in VR also.

Graphics and audio side are fantastic for a jam game. Nice to see Godot being used + the web version functioned very well. There wasn't much of a challenge in terms of losing cause of hunger, but for a jam entry that might be good so that one could easily experience the full game.

Amazing work, keep it up!

Intriguing idea with great atmosphere, very eerie and unique. Audio was the highlight for me, it set the mood perfectly. Visuals were a bit plain, except for the character sprites and the effect on the square which looked great.

Gameplay-wise the core concept is extremely promising and unique. However, I think the dials moved way too slowly which, combined with the unclear hints, made it hard to progress to the next "layer". Making the dial movement faster or allowing to set position precisely with mouse click would have made experimenting much more manageable.

Great job with the game overall. I can see this concept being taken further, there is a lot of potential. Keep it up!

FELL OUT by daveranan 2023-10-09T13:41:46Z

Holy cow, what a wonderful art style! Map could have been included in game, but thanks to it being on itch I was able to finish the game and witness the "god particle" xD. Music and the gibberish was nice, but the game could have used more sound effects for the boat, picking up coins etc.

The game ran great in browser and looked quite beautiful. The relation to the theme of limited space was a bit vague, but I guess deserted islands fit the category. All-in-all, amazing work for 72h, glad to to hear you are considering continuing the development, quite a charming entry this one!

LD55 — Summoning

The Wheel by kuro 2024-04-27T14:46:10Z

The wheel was satisfying to move. Innovation 100.

Spectral Fingers by boddiul 2024-05-03T22:06:20Z

Loved the ambiance. The gameplay actually felt what I'd imagine a spirit would experience trying to move the damn thing while some of the kids are trolling each other xD. Very stylistic entry with a well executed concept, great work!

Unsummoning Dark Creatures by angry-cyboot 2024-04-27T13:26:39Z

The sense of scale is refreshing. Love the design and animation work of the giant enemy creature, it reminds me of Scarabs from Halo. However, the other assets (environment, player etc.) look quite bland compared to the enemies. Gameplay-wise the idea is interesting, but the execution feels a bit lacking. In terms of audio, the soundscape fits nicely with the scale and mood the game is striving for. The WebGL version was a bit laggy and the gameplay could have done with more balancing and polish, but overall this entry was quite nice. Good job!

Conjurers Catacomb by xilentor 2024-05-03T21:15:12Z

AMAZING compo (!!!) entry! Was really impressed with both the quality and quantity of the puzzles, they were all really creative and fun. Graphics were also really polished. The cloning mechanic could have been explained better and audio would have been nice, but otherwise the game was shockingly great. Keep up the great work!img.png

Waves of Chess by frozenfire92 2024-05-01T11:11:30Z

A unique idea with a solid execution! Graphically a bit plain, but the style was consistent. Not sure why the pawns suddenly gained superpowers, but I guess it was to make the game less tedious. Good work!

Spell the Spell by freso 2024-04-25T19:58:19Z

Interesting idea layered on top of a cool puzzle game. While I can see how typing the random names of actions could get a bit frustrating in the long run, it was tolerable for the short length of the game. The puzzle gameplay was nothing groundbreaking, but it was enjoyable enough and its mechanics were implemented well. The pixel art looked nice, but the font used looked out of place. The ball sprite could have rotated or used some sort of animation when rolling on the ground as it looked a bit unnatural sliding on the floor. Solid work with music and sounds. Great entry overall, keep it up!

Brew Some Unique & Appetizing Potions! by HacksawUnit 2024-05-03T19:31:06Z

Really cool looking and unique graphical style, great audio work and solid gameplay. Animations etc. look suitably juicy and the game feel is excellent. Instructions could have been included within the game itself, but other than that not much to criticize. Extremely impressive results, especially for a compo entry. Outstanding work!

9 Hours Till Chaos Comes by Cubanfrog 2024-04-27T12:57:08Z

Despite the pain of having to read a wall of text to get the hang of it, once you go through the effort to learn how it all works there is a a great game underneath it all. I would even go as far as to say that gameplay-wise this was one of the best entries I have played during the numerous times I have participated in Ludum Dare. Great work on the game design front, although sadly the lack of tutorial makes it all go to waste for many players, as most of them they will likely give up due to not knowing what the different numbers and icons mean and how the different mechanics work.

The game would be fantastic if the instructions on the itch page were explained to the player in a non-intrusive way within the game itself, as ignoring the lack of tutorials everything else is in a great shape. The graphics were extremely charming, loved the designs of the lil freaks, the icons looked really nice and the 3D-aesthetic suited the rooms really well with the minions scaling smaller depending on their "depth". Elements such as the comments that the creatures spit out and the random naming of bosses were all really nice touches that add to the overall charm and mood of the game. Music was also quite nice, and the sound effects were quite suitable too. LD entries rarely work in both mood and humor categories, but this one succeeds in both of them.

A few non-tutorial related issues:

- It's a bit confusing that you have to press enter twice to start the game for the first time (and 3 times to retry). It says press enter and after that there is an empty room with no indication to press enter again.

- I encountered a bug (in the post-jam/fixed version) that if you lose the boss fight and try again then the boss stays on the screen in the subsequent run(s).

- On "narrower" displays with aspect ratios larger than 16:9 (16:10 etc.) the right and left most freaks start to get cut from the view. The camera should keep the gameplay elements in the frame by adjusting the view size based on the display's aspect ratio.

All in all a great game with a lot of potential. Had fun playing it after the initial struggles. Excellent work!

Golem Guardians by Substain 2024-05-01T13:40:34Z

Really cool game!

Switching between characters felt smooth, but with there being three of them, I would have preferred to have them mapped to distinct keys instead of having to do the mental gymnastics of navigating between them with Q and E.

The text in the intro appeared way too slowly. Thankfully it was skippable, but the speed was painfully slow for those who want to read it.

Dashing could have used some visual and/or auditory indicators as its effect was hard to notice. The mechanic of standing on a colored glyph to power up your attacks against enemies of the same color could also have used some clarification. I initially thought that the colors of enemies indicated which attacks to use on them (red fire, blue projectiles) instead of where to stand.

The graphics were a bit mixed, but I liked the overall style you were going for. The lack of sound effects was a bit disappointing, but the music was quite nice. The menus and options were really well done. I liked how you included the debug stuff in the options, was interesting to see them. The performance was perfect even on WebGL. Had some difficulties entering full screen, but thankfully the in-game fullscreen option helped to fix that.

An excellent entry overall with a lot of potential to be taken further, great job guys!

Autobahn to Hell by Revetoon 2024-04-27T14:28:57Z

Outstanding graphics! The colors, animation, effects etc. all looked very cohesive and extremely stylistic. The bubble dimension looked especially cool. The music was great, but the lack of sound effects was disappointing. The gameplay felt good, and the theme of summoning was there. I ran into a bug in the final level where the boss enemy got stuck (or something like that) after I drove past it, which caused me to have to restart the game, but it was not a big big deal thanks to the relatively short length of the game. Overall a really solid entry, excellent work!

The Summoning by Jhonny111 2024-05-01T11:57:09Z

A promising concept with a decent foundation lacking in execution and polish. There are quite a lot of systems going on which is a nice accomplishment for a solo entry. In terms of visuals I feel that the characters could have looked better with smooth shading instead of being flat shaded. UI is quite generic looking, but gets the job done. Lack of audio is unfortunate, as it could have juiced up the game considerably. For a solo entry made in a weekend I think the game turned out quite fine tho. Good job, keep it up!

The In Between by Adam Gallina 2024-04-27T13:55:56Z

Amazing work for a solo entry! Reminded me of the Dinosaur Polo Club games, which is an achievement in itself. Graphics are a bit programmer-artsy, but they do their job. Sounds and music are also pleasant enough. Interesting interpretation of the theme.

The instructions at the beginning were a bit obtrusive, and despite their presence the gameplay still felt a bit confusing (although that could be a skill issue on my part). A proper tutorial where the different elements would be taught to the player in a more intuitive manner would have gone a long way, but considering that all of this was made by a single person within 72 h I can see that there probably would not have been time for that. Great entry overall!

DESTROY THE WIZARD by LonelyGameDev 2024-05-01T11:32:37Z

Great job for a solo entry. Gameplay was solid, liked the different weapons and variation in enemy types. Graphics were nothing special, but the animations were suitably juicy. The sound effects that were present did their job, but there could have been more variation. Lack of music during gameplay was also a bit disappointing. Good work overall, keep it up!

Bring on the Blocks by alzhu1 2024-04-25T18:00:52Z

Surprisingly good puzzles, would have loved for there to be more of them. Nice solo entry!

The Last Oasis by ThibH2O 2024-05-03T19:11:48Z

The idea of summoning life to a desert is very intriguing, could be a promising concept for a full game. The title screen is really beautiful, the music and the art give a really soothing, peaceful vibe. I can see some inspiration taken from Zelda (the wise tree, the mushrooms and the flowers feel somewhat familiar...), but the oasis theme and the character designs bring a unique touch in the mix.

Gameplay-wise the tutorialization could have used some work, but the instructions on the site helped with understanding what to do. Some visual indication on how to summon a tree could have helped, as even with knowing that there was some pedestal where one can use the seeds, it was not clear you had to go to the tree stump. Not sure if there was an end goal, but If there was one then it could have been informed to the player in a clearer way. Growing an oasis is an interesting concept, and this entry shows that it has merit. Good job!

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-25T18:41:15Z

A solid premise, but a bit lacking in the execution. The story was interesting, but felt somewhat rushed. Gameplay wise there could have been more to do, perhaps some puzzle elements or more exploration. Some of the graphics looked quite nice, for example the paw, most of the props and the character models, but the environment itself looked a bit bland. Visuals effects like the rattling doors were a nice touch tho. The soundscape was suitably moody and contributed nicely to the overall atmosphere. I think that the story telling could have benefitted immensely from voice acted dialog with subtitles, instead of the text prompts that interrupt the gameplay. But considering that the game was a solo entry, I feel like it turned out quite well. Good job overall.

The Demon Cube by dekara 2024-04-25T19:26:45Z

Had never played an auto battler before, but based on this one I can see how they could be quite satisfying or even addictive xD. Not sure about the balance or how much you can actually strategize, but somehow the act of choosing the lowest number from contract list, watching your block/cube wreck others ones and pressing buttons to upgrade stats was somehow quite enjoyable. On paper the concept seems boring, but in practice it somehow wasn't. I would have continued playing if the game would not have frozen in the transition screen, but maybe that's for the best cause otherwise I might have kept on playing for god knows how long... xd

Having more info about contracts such as enemy descriptions etc. could have made the game make more sense so one could strategize more. There was a mention of some skill feature in the game that sadly didn't make the cut. Extra stuff like some sort of skills could have spiced up the game, but I feel that the core fundamentals are quite solid as they are.

Somehow the block aesthetics didn't bother me at all. It was fun to see the number of enemy blocks go up. Transition animations looked quite smooth, but the UI (especially buttons) were a bit dull. Having sounds could also have juiced up the game significantly.

All in all a surprisingly enjoyable entry, good job!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Critter Club by someone 2024-10-24T19:07:05Z

Had a hard time figuring out how to collect the critters into the inventory due to cursor locking issue with the above web version, but after playing the post jam version I got how it worked and was able to make progress. Cool concept nicely inline with the theme. Graphics-wise the critters and their animations were the highlight, otherwise a bit plain but considering you worked solo and used your own engine the game looked fine. The board game part of the gameplay was functional, but a bit basic. Liked how the UI was sort of integrated into the game world, a bit like VR games in that sense. Solid work overall for a solo entry, good job.

Fastigrades by Kyrio 2024-10-24T20:46:19Z

Genuinely fun (and funny!) entry. The core gameplay was really satisfying with solid obstacle placements and suitable physics. Controls would have been nice to have been shown in game (it took a while to realize that one could also break), but other than that, not much to note. Great graphics, great audio, great humor. Connection to the theme was a bit hard to decipher without reading the description, but I guess one could sus out the animal's tiny size from the fact that the unit of travel was in millimeters xD.

After numerous tries, I made it to some sort of wall with pillows, is this the end? Screenshot 2024-10-24 at 23.23.54.jpg

Anyways, an amazing jam entry. I enjoyed it very much. Keep up the good work y'all!

Cullbot 56 by GaryS 2024-10-24T22:44:42Z

Amazing graphics and a fun concept. Gameplay-wise the controls felt nice, but the lack of challenge made playing feel a bit aimless. Perhaps the player could have had health and the enemies would have dealt damage instead of stunning? The act of sucking the critters in and shooting them out was satisfying at first, but it grew a bit tedious over time, especially the part of shooting them into the furnace.

Audio was mostly ok, expect for the annoying tractor beam sound that unfortunately plays on a loop while sucking the enemies. The game could have used some music as well, but in away the silence kind of fit the cave environment.

Overall the game felt like a solid foundation that I imagine could be built upon in the future. Spritework and animation were the highlights, but the concept in general has promise, and the gameplay was functional with no noticeable bugs. Good work, keep it up!

Layers of Larva by JustMars 2024-10-24T23:25:56Z

Thanks for the feedback @tomssuli, glad you enjoyed the aesthetics and the music!

We scrambled together a post-jam build in the last few days to fix certain major gameplay flaws related to the different forms that we didn't have time to iron out during the event (e.g. that all forms could move on water, enemies getting stuck, wonky targeting etc.). There is also a WebGL build on itch.io if you want to try it out. No new content was added, but the 0.2 version represents the game closer to the vision we tried to achieve during the jam but couldn't do so in time.

Layers of Larva by JustMars 2024-10-24T23:37:46Z

Thank you @mrspeaker and @sean-osman!

Yeah, we are aware of the rating system and the fact that we are horribly late on that front. Our team has been occupied with university assignments and such for the past 2 weeks and were wayyy late to realize that the rating period is already coming to a close...

We'll try our best to get to the 20 rating mark, although it's not looking too great right now. But anyways, thanks for the encouraging words!

The Seven Guorts by JCoMcL 2024-10-24T22:16:40Z

Lovely bunch these Guorts, definitely deserve a sequel adventure or two.

Gum, Dust, and Danger by ComicSans 2024-10-25T07:19:11Z

Lovely little game, movement felt smooth and the gameplay mechanics were enjoyable. Graphics were suitably cozy and the theme was spot on. The game could have used more length, as the mechanics introduced in the later levels weren't fully utilized, but other than that the experience was solid. Great work!

Ants Save The Queen by Filip VannfΓ€lt 2024-10-25T17:51:46Z

Good looking pixel art and superb soundscape. Gameplay was well executed and aligned nicely with the theme. Aiming could have been more flexible, maybe even use the mouse instead of arrow keys, but other than that, great work.

Shrink by Halogen 2024-10-25T14:29:07Z

Good work for a solo entry! Would have liked more levels to further showcase the shrinking mechanics and higher difficulty, but other than that not much to note. Graphics and audio were nice, the idea was inline with the theme and there weren't any significant bugs. Solid work overall, keep it up.

AUXILIARY by T90. 2024-10-25T08:46:41Z

Unique concept, haven't played anything like this previously. The movement speed was a bit slow, and the mechanics were confusing at first, but the art and the music were really nice. Solid entry.

Cheddar Chase by Shaggy 2024-10-25T17:22:33Z

The volumetrics looked mighty impressive. Also liked how the map was layered on top of the gameplay, it looked really cool. Gameplay could have used more variety in terms of the ways of avoiding the rats, but all in all the experience was solid. Nice engine you got there, keep up the good work.

Cute Animal Jigsaw-like Puzzle by Kobato Games 2024-10-24T23:54:28Z

*Mini* game in the truest sense of the word. Achieves what it sets out to do, not much to criticize outside the lack of content.

Late Night Capsule Rescue by sourcehorse 2024-10-25T14:51:16Z

Collecting the tiny creatures from capsules that you get from a vending machine is a really cool take on the theme. The tractor beam mechanic worked really nicely and was pleasant to use. Movement felt a bit stiff, but other than that this was a really nice solo entry, good work.

Rescue Meow-sion by Ninai 2024-10-24T21:59:48Z

A solid (tower) defense game with a unique combination of different gameplay and graphical elements. The pink (cat food?) blobs as enemies were quite random, same for the player's gun, but they served their purpose. The gameplay was fun and decently balanced. A few minor issues, like that the player's movement stuttered a bit, and the UI elements didn't seem to scale with the screen resolution which made them appear quite small on a higher resolution screen, but nothing game-breaking. Good job overall. Screenshot 2024-10-25 at 0.45.23.png

Roose Dudes by CaptainPMM 2024-10-24T21:31:17Z

Fantastic aesthetics and fun gameplay! The game had a good amount of length without feeling repetitive. Especially liked the parts where the dudes would split into multiple paths and reunite at a later point. Music and sounds were really nice and the graphics were superb, very cohesive in general. Wouldn't have had anything to complain, until the very end when the game glitched when the dudes were (presumably?) supposed to jump in the box but instead disappeared leaving the camera to continue forever with one dude in the score counter. But other than that minor issue, this was an excellent jam entry, very well done!

Screenshot 2024-10-25 at 0.21.38.jpg

Blu by Mirtol 2024-10-25T15:15:25Z

Not much to do in terms of gameplay, but cool to see WebGPU being utilized. Worked nicely on Safari Technology Preview as well, although the FPS was capped at 60 unlike with Chrome were it locked to the monitors max refresh rate. Very nice music and atmosphere and a unique interpretation of the theme. Despite their name being Blu, the character design reminded me of the Red Guy from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared xd. Good work for a solo entry, especially for one built with technology outside of the usual Godot and Unity fare.

Get Souped! by LChaves 2024-10-25T16:20:03Z

Lovely graphics, really like the style you went with. From UI to gameplay everything felt very juicy and polished.

Chrome and Safari couldn't load the WebGL version and gave this error:

`Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag.`

Thankfully Firefox loaded the game fine, and had no glaring issues other than a glitch that caused the soup in the game world to appear as a black box xd.

Very nice entry overall, keep up the great work y'all!

The cylinder invasion: You better be in good shape by Riv 2024-10-25T00:26:44Z

A tower defense game with ~~Daleks~~ generic, copyright-free robots is a really cool idea actually. Their shape fits the purpose very well, and they come in various forms and colors.

Towers themselves looked nice, but the enemies and the environment appeared a bit plain. Gameplay wasn't anything too special, but it functioned well enough. An overall solid execution, or should I say: X, termination (hehhhehhe... :skull_crossbones:)

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Commodore Combat by Syrapt0r 2018-05-02T14:43:35Z

Fits the theme well, I have nothing to complain about, great job! But I wonder, does the number of crates per room affect the amount of items you get at all?

Secret of the PeaDucks by Iak 2018-04-28T19:09:39Z

Impressive for a first Unity game! Keep it up!

Clidger by Mathiouza 2018-04-24T17:19:33Z

Gameplay is really fun and the upgrade system is a great addition! My only complaints are not being able to move with WASD and little too slow text speed. But other than that, great job (as usual)!

Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-04-29T16:50:49Z

The idea, graphics, audio and gameplay were all amazing! And the game runs surprisingly well on browser too! The only thing I didn't like was the intensive motion blur, but thats just my personal opinion. One of the best entries so far, keep it up!

TPS: Top Person Shooter by JustMars 2018-04-23T23:25:55Z

@Mathiouza @DeltaNutmeg Yeah, I am considering completely removing the sidebars (the colors hurt my eyes too, I just picked the brightest red and blue in a rush to finish the game). Thanks for honest feedback :)

Bubbles 'n Blood by Gno Evenimente 2018-04-23T22:55:32Z

Unique idea and nice effects/graphics! Would fit well for mobile, but on PC I too would have liked to move with keyboard. Overall nice game.

Room Runner Extreme Deluxe! by ORECROS 2018-04-23T23:12:19Z

Very nice mix of platforming and puzzles. I was surprised by the amount of different rooms, I wonder how many there are in total? One of my favorite games of the jam so far, keep it up!

LD59 — Signal

Routine Mission by Flightless 2026-05-07T18:10:33Z

A bit slow, but liked gameplay the idea of "dodging" the red dot on the 1D plane. The capsule spinning in space is a nice touch, but the lighting could have used some tweaking. Nice ambiance and an interesting story.

Signal Reassigned by Rewzu 2026-05-07T18:58:43Z

Absolutely stunning post processing effects! Innovative idea to have scroll control mouse sensitivity, never seen that before. Could have used some ambient occlusion, but otherwise amazing graphics despite the relatively simplistic environment assets. Great job!

Parasignal by HagamosVideojuegos 2026-05-07T19:34:40Z

Impressive work for a 2 person team! Both the gameplay within the TV and interactions with the world around it felt solid. Adjusting the signal fit the theme well. Volume sliders casting shadows was a really cool touch.

Lighthouse Diaries by Tomssuli 2026-05-07T19:37:23Z

Green Mike's Bootlegs by Skleembof 2026-05-07T18:23:25Z

Funny ahh game.:alien:

Sound effects were spot on. The camera was a bit wonky though.

Emoji Signal Tank by yuwei 2026-05-07T18:36:14Z

Interesting idea. Would have liked to see some connection to theme, but I guess it doesn't matter as you opted out. Original art assets would also have been appreciated.
