wow, nice use of the theme! the platforming was a little tough for me, but I loved the atmosphere!

los 2019-10-07 19:25

My body, soul and mine have been returned !! Nice game and very good music! Well done!

rubyleehs 2019-10-07 19:25

Not bad. Jumping is a bit finnicky and sometimes doesn't jump at all.

merkisoft 2019-10-07 19:26

i took me a while that there is a huge fly time, but still too hard for me ... ok i'm not a pro gamer but a pro developer

aidanwelch 2019-10-07 19:29

A working platformer, would've been nice if there was more that made it unique though, like maybe since you are a spirit there would be non-living creature style controls. For example, the ability to hover instead of just being an orb with invisible legs. Also, hitbox seems a little too big.

danny88881 2019-10-07 19:30

Nice little game! I wish that you could use W or up arrow to jump though. The pixel art was nice but I think the character being a sphere made it seem out of place, but I liked the music and the atmosphere it created.

davidsimon 2019-10-07 19:37

Hi, I like the mood in the game, sadly the platforming sections in it are kindy hard, more like impossible. I would tweak it a bit.

cybikitty 2019-10-07 19:47

@davidsimon @rubyleehs @donut-daria @los @merkisoft @danny88881 @aidanwelch thank you guys for all the feedback! I agree that the platforming can feel a bit janky at times - but having a lot of suggestions and notes from you guys really helps! :)

ssstormy 2019-10-07 20:30

The game overall is nice. I felt that the platforming challenge itself was fine and that the variable jump height gave it some depth.

The major gripe was the jump control response. Sometimes, immediatelly after landing, he guy just wasn't jumping even if it looked like he could :(

cybikitty 2019-10-07 20:39

@ssstormy thank you for the feedback! That's a great thing to know, I'll have to look into that now to make sure it doesn't happen again on future projects :0

jajakeim 2019-10-07 20:52

i like the concept, but the mouvement/collision/jumping are really irritating. Good job overall :)

cybikitty 2019-10-07 21:09

@jajakeim thanks for letting me know! It's really appreciated and helpful to know what people didn't like/found frustrating ^^

clvp 2019-10-07 23:40

I really like use of theme!

cybikitty 2019-10-07 23:41

@clvp thank you! ^^

aconfusedragon 2019-10-08 00:19

Controls are really smooth and nice. The atmosphere is spot on as well, although the death noise kinda scares me each time haha. Great job!!

cybikitty 2019-10-08 00:22

@aconfusedragon ahah, sorry about that! Thank you so much for the feedback! ^^

jordanvang 2019-10-08 00:54

I first clicked on this game, because of the title, because it reminded me of Detroit: Become Human and I was wondering if it was going to be like that. I was pleasantly surprised. It got me frustrated at times, but that's good, because I was invested LOL. I really love the mood in this game.

johan-alexandersson 2019-10-08 03:16

Nice little game, the spike hit boxes are a little bit harsh though. I died (again? can spirits die?) a lot.

boltactiontoaster 2019-10-08 03:42

The hit boxes on the spikes seemed a bit wild, but the jumps required to clear them are pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Overall a small, neat little game.

transkuja 2019-10-08 06:55

Nice concept but the soul part is hardcore

brokenmirrormedia 2019-10-08 07:15

I liked the game overall, but the platforming didn't feel great. I think the movement was very fast and gave you lots of airtime which wasn't what I needed in a more precise level, and the hitbox for the sphere felt very unforgiving on corners (ie when climbing the area in body). Overall good idea, just wish the platforming was a little tighter.

4quet 2019-10-08 08:46

I think the player's collider is a bit too large, making the Soul level pretty hard to finish, but I dit it ! I really like the aesthetics of your game, the music is GREAT, well done :)

cybikitty 2019-10-08 10:53

@jordanvang @johan-alexandersson @boltactiontoaster @transkuja @brokenmirrormedia @4quet thank you guys so much for the feedback! It's great to hear what I need to improve on ^^

vincentvincent 2019-10-08 17:02

Mouvements can be hard(like jump) but the concept and sound design are great. good atmo:) Good job!

nachtwitch 2019-10-08 17:37

Absolutely fantastic, the front cover was really interesting and got hopes up and boy did the game not disappoint, absolutely fantastic game, 5 stars my guy

autumn-schutt 2019-10-08 19:18

Nice premise, and the graphics are pretty nice. It's a little hard to play, but good job!

smileyface 2019-10-08 20:59

I think this game establishes a very good mood and atmosphere but I found the platforming to be very frustrating. I think this game would benefit from the player object having a smaller collider than it does. But despite this I think the game is very good. You should check out our game as well, its theme is somewhat similar to yours coincidentally.

phobos001 2019-10-08 21:28

Moody little game, but the platforming controls are WAY too floaty when jumping. Really hard to control. Otherwise this was an interesting experience. Thank you for this game!

nathaniel-jensen 2019-10-08 22:25

Good game. That soul part crushed my soul! Maybe I'm just bad at platforming? I finally got through it, though. Great job!

guitarbro 2019-10-08 23:13

Excellent eerie atmosphere with the music and dark-ish visuals. The game was quite short but that is to be expected with a jam game. I have a few main suggestions that I think could improve the player experience significantly. First off, I believe the player collision should be tight with the circle, even if that means the particle effects go outside. I was frequently running into objects that I thought I wasn't touching (especially spikes :stuck_out_tongue: ) because I didn't know how far out it went. Secondly, I would suggest making the player not bounce when they fall since it causes there to be a couple frames where jumps don't register. Makes it difficult to go fast. Additionally, some background (other than just solid colors) would help it feel more complete, even if it's just a tiling texture. Speaking of the background though, the red flashing one was quite distracting. I _think_ this was intended though, so in that case... mission accomplished?

All in all, not a bad game!

hiro-e 2019-10-08 23:14

Very good concept! The only thing I didn't like is the low space jumps

wreel 2019-10-08 23:25

I saw a lot of promise in the theme of introspective game play. The first "level" was very koan like in what it was asking and I felt a real pang of existentialism. However the rest of the platforming was pretty frustrating given the controls and slipperiness of the mechanics. Given enough tweaking and asking a lot of dark introspective questions this could be pretty great.

dry-squid 2019-10-09 00:14

dang! this game is tough! great sounds fx by the way

cybikitty 2019-10-09 01:12

@vincentvincent @nachtwitch @autumn-schutt @smileyface @phobos001 @nathaniel-jensen @guitarbro @hiro-e @wreel @dry-squid

Thank you all for really helpful feedback! I must admit, going back and replaying it with the big collider in mind is a bit frustrating, I think I just got so used to it whilst testing that it seemed fine with me :')

Thanks again guys! ^^

lightwaves 2019-10-09 01:45

I like the concept , my only concern is that the spikes hitboxes are the size of a truck, but apart from that very nice :)

toxiccomputer 2019-10-09 01:50

Great game! Good job! Loved the level design.

stephenwhoskins 2019-10-09 01:51

That was cool. I loved it! I totally crushed it, but I'm left questioning if that's really all that makes me human in the end... D=

Only major complaint is the collision detection. When your vertical speed becomes too great, it's difficult to get into tight crevices. And when you are next to a spike with tons of space between you and the spike and you die, I go "RRR!!! YOU WANNA SEE MY SOUL? THIS IS MY SOUL!!!!!!!" =P

aj-jones 2019-10-09 04:28

Loved the mood of the game! I think it would benefit from tightening up the jump a bit, but great job!

redimension-games 2019-10-09 06:30

Played the game. The light/dark concept on the body level was cool but i felt the "light" part was too short. The level overall was not too difficult. For the other level(soul), the hitbox of the spikes felt too big. The jumping and moving mechanics need a little bit more refinement. Overall fun game, great entry :)

bredera 2019-10-09 13:45

Cool little game, loved the music! platforming felt a bit off for me. maybe it had to do with the character feeling very floaty or sometimes the hitboxes of the spikes feeling a bit unfair. Overall great job!

custardcosmos 2019-10-09 18:04

This was a neat little game. Really liked the mood set up with the visuals and the music. I don't really have many criticisms that haven't been brought up already, though I will add if anything the flashing red background was a bit disconcerting.

Great use of the theme though! I still had a good time~

cybikitty 2019-10-09 18:52

@lightwaves @toxiccomputer @stephenwhoskins @aj-jones @redimension-games @bredera @custardcosmos

Thank you guys for your comments!! This jam has been so great with giving me wonderful feedback :D

enver-arco 2019-10-09 19:18

good effort, needs a bit more polish though

amerigo-gazaway 2019-10-10 07:02

Cool concept! Dig the music as well, cheers :)

owc 2019-10-10 11:02

I like the atmosphere! Platforming is simple, but interesting. With more polished art it could be great! But it's good anyway! Great job :)

raomer 2019-10-10 19:25

Nice little game :) Musik fits, the graphic matches the topic. The gameplay is solide. And the blades hurt!

porocyonak 2019-10-10 22:36

really neat atmosphere, but I found myself getting stuck and unable to jump at times

justmars 2019-10-14 09:56

An intriguing idea which fit the theme well. The three gameplay styles representing their respected part of being a human were well thought. I personally liked the puzzle (mind) segment the most, though I think it was too short.

The platforming section (soul) was a little problematic for me; the jumping didn't quite respond correctly (probably something to do with the ground check). The collider of the player was also too large, should have been the same size as the player orb, or even smaller. It felt like I died without even touching the spikes.

One thing I really liked about the game was the main menu. The mysterious red cube was really moody. I wonder if the pictures on it have some kind of deeper meaning, or are they just pairs of legs? Anyway, it's a solid game. Well done!

dock-frankenstein 2019-10-15 05:47

The player's collider should be smaller, but except that it was very fun!
