Decisive Battle by Erkberg 2022-04-06T21:37:57Z
Liked the atmosphere and music. The combat could benefit from some visual and sound effects. Will have try the game again with a gamepad.

To be honest, at first glance I didn't think the game would hold my attention but I stand corrected. It was really fun! I like the idea of out numbering the enemy. Great visuals as well. Awesome job!
Good game. Really liked the fast pasced action, I wish the enemies were a bit closer so the attacks would actually make contact with the target. I feel like that would add to the visual feedback, but great work overall!
Very strong Attack on Titan vibes from the surrounding enemies. Very cool game.
Amazing concept, excited to come back to it again and agian to see how my art work has been "fixed".
Awesome graphics and git a kick out of the character's sound fx.
Very nice game! Great graphics and controls feel snappy. My only issue was with the blue weapon. Its attack was too narrow and made it harder to use than the others. I feel like it would have worked better making all weapons function the same but deal more damage to enemies of the same color. Simpler but more effective overall.
Great style and atmosphere to all of it. Also really interesting puzzle idea that I have never seen. Well done!
Simple game but very effective. Loved the art style and the robotic voice especially when hitting a wall. Great work.
Cute game. Especially liked the art for it. Well done.
Great game! Love the visual and audio design. The level reminds me of MGS2 and really liked the environmental destruction. My only piece of feedback is to consider starting the player closer to the center of the level. In my first go at the game, I instantly did a 180 and ran off the map haha. Tho that was also partially due to the mouse sensitivity.
Really fun game. Controls are a bit off for me but they add to the chaos which I liked. Great work.
Really fun concept with lots of variety and surprises. The camera and controls were a bit disorienting. Not sure if making the camera move more smoothly would help. Well done tho.
@theflanman Thank you for the comment. I noticed the same issue as soon as I added the final models haha. Tried to salvage it by adding different helmet hair designs.
Appreciate the feedback! Will likely steal more ideas from Total War and place a Flag above unit formations that clearly define the unit type and maybe strength as well. The drawing mechanic can certainly use some more work as well.
@roughskin thanks for the feedback, I would like to improve the visuals. I need to read up on the rules for that. Assuming we need to wait on scoring to be set/done.
@janku & @pwnofprophecy maybe some highscore leaderboard feature would be good to add later on. Curious to see how far people can get in theory.
@njs thanks for the feedback. We did toy around with the idea of our resources being tied to your performance like kills give you back units. Obviously due to time constraints we went for a simple replenish rate which was easier to build and design for. Appreciate the interest and will consider expanding this to a more feature complete version in the future.
@lvl99chicken thank you for your feedback. The formations and their placements were a huge challenge to build. But we learned a lot from the atempt and have some ideas on how to improve it in the future so it's more intuitive for the user.
@someone that's a pretty good suggestion! I will have to toy around with it and see how it plays but I like the idea so far. Thanks for the feedback!
@erkberg thank you so much! Glad you liked the game! @effe practice makes perfect :P
@shmador to your point, the unit size doesn't matter too much, a ballpark guess would do the trick. Assuming you counter the enemy troops, you would win most fights. We did consider further troop control but we had to scrap it for sake of time implementing and designing but certainly a way to grow the game in scope. Thanks for the feedback
@peachtreeoath thank you for the feedback and sharing that reference. Yes we have through of other ways to expand the game. I think it would be fun to have a lighter and more fast paced version of total war that is fully battle focused. Perhaps some prototyping and inspired references can help us get something more feature complete out.
And thanks to everyone for the feedback. Please come back to check out the game in a week or so after scoring is done. We have a number of improvements to add to the game based on feedback.
Didn't expect to to have emotions from a game jam but you did it. Really neat little game. Well done.
Not to beat dead horse but Music and some sound fx would go a long way here. Overall great game. Really liked the art style.
Reminds me of the flash games I used to play in middle school. Great work.
Nice game, would be interesting to make the cat move around the office so the player has to go to different areas.
Really liked the artwork. The camera was a little too high up that I couldn't clearly see what I was jumping down to at times. Not sure if this was an issue with the screen size or not. Also the platforming was a bit buggy (pun intended). Was getting stuck on the geometry at times. Nice game overall.
Great game. Might I suggest having the camera pan slightly towards the direction if your aim rather than be fully focused on centering teh corgi? It would improve visibility and allow you to see enemies better ahead of time.
I liked the snappy animation and audio. Some music to give a little atmosphere would go a long way I think.
