I really liked the effects & the game loop was definitly fun. I got stuck however because i kept recieving only contracts that were too hard for my character.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD55 → The Demon Cube

A better balance in contract proposal could be nice. But the game is cool. Risk/benefit management. Surprising, have only cube that fight make things funnier.
Might need a bit explanation on what the contracts do but other than that - a pretty chill game.
Funny game, nice idea, cool colors, also the difficultyes represented by color nice mechanic
Nice idea, clearly a difference on gameplay when upgrading to upper level demon. Not sure what agility does though.
In terms of graphics, the mood is nice and you managed to use the simple block at its advantage :)
The effects are nice and the gameplay loop is solid. The contracts seem like the blood gained determines the difficulty more than the color.
@larseemil Yes the Blood is bound to the overall difficulty and the color to the difficulty based on the runprogress. :)
I liked playing the game, but at one point I couldn't progress further because I only got contracts I was too weak for.
Nice execution of the genre ! The game would benefits from some sfx for sure, or maybe go all in on the juice effects  Anyway the core mechanics are there and it works pretty well so good job guys !
hmmm the effects are nice. Really chill game
Nice chill game. It is a bit difficult to figure out what to do, and when to go back and upgrade. If i didnt click the grow button by accident first i wouldn't have known it was possible. The game crashed when signing a contract after some gametime. Also, when the game starts it seems to be using a LOT of resources. Very nice first entry :)
@mads Hey, thanks. Yeah would have liked to add a tutorial and some more polishing in form of hit effects and sounds. The Particle Effekt is a bit heavy on the web version, probably some webgl issue. But its only on the loadup so we figured to let it as it is. :D Weird Bug. Played a lot never get it. Do you remember at what blood counts you were?
Nice work! This soundtrack is awesome, and I like how smooth it all feels to play. Super chill!
Cool Autobattler with a interesting repetetive approach.
What I liked: - Lay back and feel the Autobattling happen. - Strategic Stat Choices - Did the best with simple Graphics. - Trance Like Autobattling - You got the "oh come on, only one more crit and I get him"- feeling
What I disliked: - Balancing is not well met. You need to play long and grow. - No Description on Stats. - Difficulty and Gains on Contracts are not very clear. You have to do a bit of guesswork.
Overall: A cool Autobattler with a Trance like Music and Play Style. Keep up!
Pretty fun little game but could definitely use better distribution on the blood amounts
@dekara I don't remember what level, and I can't reproduce it either :) But it was after I upgraded to the one costing 1000.
@mads Thanks. Dont sweat it. I guessed it was with the 1k demon. The scaling there is pretty wild and probably the webbuild cant handle the armysize anymore at one point. :D
@supportlik @jkazuk Could you elaborate on the balancing? At the moment in the beginning you need like 3 6er and two 16er contracts. Which is pretty easy to do, even with bad skilling. And it takes you like 1 to 3 minutes tops. It is pretty impossible to not get this amount until you run out of reputation. With the lesser demon you would get stuck before the 200+ blood contracts, if you skill not so well, but that means you can still easily reach 1k blood in a few minutes. Also here it is nearly impossible to not reach it before running out of reputation.
Does it take to long? Should the amount of blood be higher? Would be great to get some input for future implementations. Thank you. :)
Music was fantastic. Simple game but fun :)
Any way to update the Itch page to support larger resolution - it was hard for me to see what I was doing... I sort of made it work by leaning in and squinting though hahaha
@phoenixgaming Wasnt there a full screen button on the bottom right? Also F11 should work too. But nevertheless I made it bigger on the page. Thanks!
Fun! Played until my Mega-Block-Demon didn't spawn after a very quick battle against a 2500 team of puny blocks.
It took my whole first round to understand, but basically I think i got by only upgrading luck and agility at first, and then defense and strength later?
I think I would have liked different music tracks for the different blocks you can play as.
@scottal Cool you liked it! The scaling is a bit off in the late game and the web version does not handle it well. So probably you end up breaking the game, if you play a long time. But its a feat on its own. :D
You could basically skill however you like. Everything should work to get you to the last boy. The only important thing is to know you limit and focus on the doable blood gain battles.
Yeah I would have also loved some juicy sounds and hit animations. Different music tracks for the demons too. But I just added this one track 30 minutes before I uploaded and wrapped things up. :D
@dekara I Just died quite a lot at the beginning. Of course I could do a lot of grinding, but I instinctiveley tried to Match the contracts with my blood Level. And there was Just such a huge Gap between my demon and the contracts.
With Low Reputation came a small Chance of Low Blood Contracts and with this my perception of Bad balancing.
But as you Said. You had a different concept in mind.
@supportlik Aaah. Yeah that makes sense. The blood in the contracts is directly coppled with the difficulty and with the first one you can basically only do up to the 16er contracts maybe 32 if you skill very well. And reaching lower contracts again after loosing should asure that you still earn blood to get the next demon. So you should feel like so weak not beating the little higher contracts, but than boom the next one feels way stronger beating them with ease. 😂 Its not intended to fight contracts on the level of your already collected blood. Hmm. Ok. Ill think about how to make it more clear what is possible or expected from the player to not get frustrated. Thanks for the input!
Fun simple graphics style. The game mechanics of an autobattler are definitely a bit foreign to me. I wasn't totally clear on how much I should be grinding on small contracts vs doing something intelligent/more skillful? The game definitely works and is enjoyable if you like this sort of game. How do I play it better or worse? :O
Got to the point when game just stopped loading, I guess because of the amount of cubes . Really addicting, loved it! Would love to get this game when it's finished.
@the-neon-shark Yeah you definitly need to like that type of game, but thats the case with many genres esp. niche. I think the skillfull thing is to try and estimate in what upper range you can sign contracts. Whats the limit of the current form and how to get the needed blood with as less battles as possible. Also skilling stats plays a role. How effectiv stats are you only get with trying. In general you cant completly skill wrong but for example def is very good in the beginning. And later attack speed with agility. But for this short game it does not matter to much. The skill needed is also not to high here. :-)
@rubikon Hey, thanks you liked it! Yeah I guess this might be the case. Did a little update and tuned the max cubes down, hope that helps for future testers. :D But at some point I guess there will be deadlock between you and the army. The growth functions are not super balanced. Was the first time for me, but at least for the start it feels good. :D Yeah could possible become some full fledged mini game. Incremental Autobattler are a nice genre. :D
I'm surprised that using only simple assets from the engine you were able to achiev such a good effect. I'm not a huge fun of auto battler, but I appreciate the dark mood that the game has and I like the music.
very fun game, good effects and great concept. i noticed that agility + strength maxing was overpowered as hell and even literally broke the game by setting my agility too high!Screenshot 2024-04-19 152833.png
Can a game about summoning demonic blocks be fun? Yes, yes it can. :) Really enjoyed this one. Sadly, the game crashed while I was in a 3k contract battle. Needed some time to get how the loop works, but enjoyed it after quite a lot. Great entry!!!
@d34th0ftit4n5 @crashmusashi Thanks you two! Glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah the growth functions are far from perfect. But I was happy with the result for the start. Until the last demon and higher contracts they work nice and with the last demon you can get these ridiculous large numbers on the screen and super fast attack speed etc. But whats better than getting so overpowered you break the game. 😂
buy the second demon > max agility > gamble fights until you max strength > break the game
Pretty cool concept and vibe, not very balanced but it's pretty hard to balance thoses types of game
visuals are simple but cool and the music makes me jam, cool entry !
Really enjoyed this game. The feeling of power you get when you get reborn as a stronger block is crazy, especially the last one. I don't actually know if you can die as the last one, I was maxing agility and all contracts kept getting beaten in like a second (I don't remember if I even took damage ever as the big block), and after a while the game ended up freezing.
Regardless, it's a really fun game. Good job!
Outstanding style! Enjoyed this quite a bit. Well done.

I like the mood and the ground idea.
Had never played an auto battler before, but based on this one I can see how they could be quite satisfying or even addictive xD. Not sure about the balance or how much you can actually strategize, but somehow the act of choosing the lowest number from contract list, watching your block/cube wreck others ones and pressing buttons to upgrade stats was somehow quite enjoyable. On paper the concept seems boring, but in practice it somehow wasn't. I would have continued playing if the game would not have frozen in the transition screen, but maybe that's for the best cause otherwise I might have kept on playing for god knows how long... xd
Having more info about contracts such as enemy descriptions etc. could have made the game make more sense so one could strategize more. There was a mention of some skill feature in the game that sadly didn't make the cut. Extra stuff like some sort of skills could have spiced up the game, but I feel that the core fundamentals are quite solid as they are.
Somehow the block aesthetics didn't bother me at all. It was fun to see the number of enemy blocks go up. Transition animations looked quite smooth, but the UI (especially buttons) were a bit dull. Having sounds could also have juiced up the game significantly.
All in all a surprisingly enjoyable entry, good job!
Very decent execution. The graphics are simple but aesthetic. Overall neat game. :D
