Really cool concept, i liked the different tiles and that each did something different. i tried like 3 times and always burnt out. is there a win condition?

maverick95 2020-04-21 03:10

cool particles and intresting idea!

jivers99 2020-04-21 03:10

Think it's a really good idea, needs an objective or more intriguing level design but the basic gameplay and idea are great.

kotka 2020-04-21 03:12

Really cool idea! It took a couple tries to get very far, but I still always ran out of flames every time :(

ssh-randy 2020-04-21 03:13

Sorry guys, no win condition yet! We both have full time jobs and couldn't work on it on Monday, but we're glad you enjoyed it so far!

kristinamay 2020-04-21 03:16

Super cool! For some reason I felt a little bit like I was playing that old version of Sim City where you can press the buttons to wreak havoc on your city. :) Would love to see more detail in this eventually because it was chill and fun to play.

sofy35 2020-04-21 03:17

Cool concept I love the cloud !

willjardine 2020-04-21 03:19

I really enjoyed this. Awesome idea!

brossman 2020-04-21 03:21

Simple game play and very satisfying watching it all burn. Nice job.

kosmo 2020-04-21 03:32

Simple gameplay but it all worked well. Its a bit of a tech demo at the moment. Great job for the time constraints, but I think the game would benefit from some more interesting interactions -- maybe oil fields that rapidly spread the fire or a dam that if burnt would steam water through the zone.

Thanks for the game!

2020-04-21 03:53

Spreading the fire along with the sounds gives this a really calming feel. It'd be nice to have some sort of objective or win condition. Overall, satisfying to play!

I love environmental sims, so this is up my alley. Sometimes it's hard to tell which way the wind/embers are moving since the majority of the effects want to go straight up on their own (like smoke tends to do). No good ideas here, maybe make the smoke dissipate a little faster (and larger)?

After a while, I really just stopped caring about what the ground looked like and just moved around. The "protect the forest" idea is intriguing and I'd love to see some mechanics added revolving around NOT burning certain things. (Like turning forests/cities into grass/flowers over time, etc.)

2020-04-21 05:28

Good concept can become a full game of some sort. Great job finishing the idea!

fachscahfttf 2020-04-21 17:00

* The core mechanic was not lacking anything as far as I can tell. * The Wind has very global effects; maybe something local could be fun? maybe one or two objects like hot air ballons that can be "controlled" and crash into something? * I like the calm atmosphere of the game; its really just playing around that I enjoyed. BTW I actually did enjoy the sounds

ssh-randy 2020-04-21 17:03

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback y'all!

we'll make sure to make an update to this game at some point. we'd love to release it on android!

mrpossoms 2020-04-21 17:19

Dude this is really cool! So simple, no learning curve but pretty engaging. Excellent work!

flomino 2020-04-21 19:22

very interesting concept, though to be honest i found it more like a "digital toy" or simulation as apposed to a game, but i had fun playing with it nonetheless. id like to see this idea taken further with more diverse terrain and more tile variety while keeping the simple but intuitive controls. nice job!

xenith 2020-04-21 19:50

liked this one, cool take on the graphical side of things :)

chloeofarroyo 2020-04-22 11:06

Interesting concept! I like hows its not about burning everything (as you run out of green tiles) its about managing the burn to keep it going :D

sadsmile 2020-04-22 17:37

One of the best interpretations of the theme so far! Gj guys!

beelzeboss 2020-04-22 17:49

Simple, but very creative idea with good execution. Good Job!

mika-la-grand 2020-04-22 18:34

Could be interesting, but I would prefer more control. I would also recommend adding some objective. Perhaps make to oppositve of this game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/where-the-fire-goes. In that game you need to stop the fire, in your game you need to spread it. No doubt you can learn some things from that game.

hellequinne 2020-04-22 23:07

This is so imaginative. I haven't played as a wind god before.

Since you asked for suggestions: * I'd make heavier use of the wind lines to really sell that the player is controlling the wind. * I read the description text, but it still wasn't clear to me what I should be doing while playing. It was fun as a simulation, but as a game, I didn't know what my goals were and whether or not I was achieving them. * I think there's a lot of opportunity for interesting wind-based gameplay. You can clearly blow the fire around. I expected to be able to blow the rain clouds, but I don't think that's happening? Might be interesting blow regions of hot and cold air? If you're a destructive wind god, maybe play around with generating and controlling tornadoes.

Anyway, great work.

ssh-randy 2020-04-23 02:01

@hellequinne thank you so much!!! Those ideas sound great. A lot of our limitations were because we lacked the time to polish our game, we just wanted to demonstrate the core concept first. But we will keep these in mind when we make followups!

rexagon 2020-04-24 13:29

Burning something, while listening to the gusts of wind is so relaxing

ctrble 2020-04-25 01:06

This was such a lovely, mellow game! Nice and subtle, and it felt like the movement of the fire was right. If you're looking for other mechanics to test out, maybe try something with more elements? Seems like something with wind, fire, water, and rock could be a lot of fun to explore, with one level focused on each element while the others interact with or even combat it (like how water does with this). Anyway, very chill, I dig it.

dankar 2020-04-25 22:24

Really interesting concept! I also made a game about fires spreading :) The gameplay is super simple, but I think it doesn't have to be more than this. It was pretty fun just trying to burn every thing :) Could use some nice, relaxing background music to take it to another level, but overall nice job!

madbarron 2020-04-27 03:35

Cool! The fire looks good and feels very natural. Didn't really notice the barriers slowing me down much. Maybe adding a way to build up heat with convection or a firenado or something could be a fun mechanic?

blue-pin-studio 2020-04-29 08:55

Thanks for checking out my game! I checked out yours as well, i liked it a lot! Would be nice if there was a way to win, perhaps burning all of the grass blocks? or maybe burning a specified amount of grass blocks? Very cool either way, felt smoooooooth

epono 2020-05-01 13:23

Really cool concept and nice take on the theme. When I first started the game I tried to cover as much ground as possible and only realize that I sould have been more strategic about it when the entire land was burnt and I had nowhere left to go :p After that I was more careful of my decisions and had a much better time.

It's too bad you didn't have time to add more features because after the first few minutes of play it loses some novelty. As you said, a few other agents would bring a lot of life.

As for additional controls, what about some cooldowns, like launching a tornado to quickly recover from a bad situation?

Anyway, great entry.

huvaakoodia 2020-05-01 16:18

A neat tech demo! Fire propagation systems are useful in a lot of projects, for instance, a village management simulation, a turn-based tactical competition, a real-time survival challenge, you get the idea.

Now just put it to good use!
