LD46 — Keep it alive

The Flower of The Elmhearst by SarahFrisk 2020-05-07T20:37:07Z

Good art and writing! I was going to say that I wished you'd added visuals of the garden and music, but I see you already addressed all that in the comments. You still got a lot done in the short time period - nice work.

Vigtafl by bwalter 2020-05-01T08:22:27Z

Excellent game jam. Elegant board game-style mechanic; beautiful art and music. Well done!

Keep 'em Alive: Retro by mobiledev 2020-05-07T21:13:06Z

Great visual style; I love the polish that you put into the interface -- as well as the player's walk animation. Also, nice use of the theme.

Like other commenters, I had trouble playing (even after reading the instructions). If you ever do more work on the project, you might consider adding text labels on buttons, changing button art depending on if you can afford it (for buildings) or if it's toggled (police/construction), etc, etc. Of course, it's hard to add that kind of detail during a short game jam. Looks like you set out to do a challenging project; good on you for taking a stab at it.

The God Of Adventurers by Lucille Blumire 2020-04-23T02:23:20Z

Took me a bit to figure this out -- things happen quickly, and there's a lot of small text. ;) But it's fun and inventive and I love the music. Great work!

Mampfred and the singing, tingling tree by gagapete 2020-05-07T21:34:07Z

I like that the most noticeable part of Mampfred's walk animation is his stomach shaking.

Simple, deceptively clever game. Great work.

SPECIAL MEAT for a special boy by LethalTurtle 2020-04-25T04:33:01Z

Really stylish. I love the palette, screen shader... and the special boy, himself.

Took me a bit to figure out what to do, even after reading the description. It's nice that you added the prompts for how to pick things up. If you add more in the future, I'd consider not only tutorializing the controls, but also making sure the core loop is clear. But anyway, great job!

The Drown by Simon Rahnasto 2020-04-25T05:06:15Z

Wow, nicely done all around. Seems like your team was well-managed and in sync. Voice acting was a pleasant surprise!

Sleepwalker by Sheinxy 2020-05-07T21:27:53Z

Nice art! Took me a while to understand the controls; I didn't get at first that you were going for a Tipping Stars mechanic. And even so, there were some bits that were never quite clear to me, such as the logic behind when you could and could not double-jump. If you ever do more work on the game, you might consider visual feedback for all player input, a more forgiving click-box around the character, and much higher contrast in the art of the mouse cursor and player character. But anyway, fun game; good job!

Save Our Ship by Laurari 2020-04-25T18:01:04Z

Good concept... nice audio. Personally, I would've preferred the challenge to be based on the speed and number of obstacles -- and *not* on based an inability to control the ship. (Or maybe there's a trick to the controls that I never figured out?) Anyway, good job!

Bunny Plague by Malai 2020-04-23T02:32:36Z

I love the art and audio - great style! And fun gameplay on top of it... nice work.

of_t by taffyko 2020-04-24T05:35:23Z

Super intense, amazing style. I didn't always know what I was doing, and the game eventually made me seasick, but that's ok! Since you've already talked about Devil Daggers, I'll bring up hundredrabbits.itch.io/hiversaires instead. I think appreciate it if you don't already know it. Anyway, great job.

Light Knight by LaLoge 2020-04-25T01:39:08Z

Wonderful visuals and music... smooth gameplay. If you ever do more work on it, even if you want to keep the overall progression steep, you might consider at least a few cheap upgrades just so players feel like they're make progress early on. But in any case, great job!

Blobbysitter by Jake Marks 2020-04-22T23:22:51Z

Awesome submission. I have killed this blob baby so many times now.

apples by Space Nomad 2020-04-24T05:13:08Z

This game made me happy... maybe because I have early memories of playing Atari. I'm into the blocky style and I liked the crazy music. Gameplay is super hard, but that's ok. #scifi

Save the Dragon by Physi3 2020-04-22T22:42:42Z

Charming game! I enjoyed mowing down moles and feeding them to my baby dragon.

If you end up doing more on this, I would consider making the whole game playable with keyboard/gamepad... using the mouse for menus became a bit distracting.

The Bodyguard by KynanTokoro 2020-04-25T04:16:55Z

Great job. I love these visuals and music. Took me a bit to figure out level 2... didn't realize you could do a long jump with the tofu. But anyway, good work!

Magician's Monster by NomadicRockMan 2020-04-22T22:46:26Z

I don't know why the villagers are so horrible to my poor monster. But I crushed them, so we're good. Imaginative concept, great execution. Excellent work.

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-22T23:31:21Z

Congrats on your first jam! Catchy, fun gameplay!

Souls Keeper by Not The Loading Screen 2020-04-25T04:42:31Z

Good job with the ambience. I hope you'll apply your visual/audio style to a more involved game sometime.

Kaze No Kami by ssh.randy 2020-04-22T23:07:56Z

This is so imaginative. I haven't played as a wind god before.

Since you asked for suggestions: * I'd make heavier use of the wind lines to really sell that the player is controlling the wind. * I read the description text, but it still wasn't clear to me what I should be doing while playing. It was fun as a simulation, but as a game, I didn't know what my goals were and whether or not I was achieving them. * I think there's a lot of opportunity for interesting wind-based gameplay. You can clearly blow the fire around. I expected to be able to blow the rain clouds, but I don't think that's happening? Might be interesting blow regions of hot and cold air? If you're a destructive wind god, maybe play around with generating and controlling tornadoes.

Anyway, great work.

-Y- by Iluvatar 2021-10-05T21:40:31Z

Very pretty. Nice concept. Would love to see what you could accomplish with more time or a larger team.

Cro-Mathnon by PeachTreeOath 2021-10-06T07:02:06Z

Neat concept! Platforming and math at the same time definitely strains my brain. :) Clever implementation of multiplayer.

Bumpy Road by scottthoo 2021-10-06T06:54:12Z

This car is ridiculous. I love it.

Frogmented World by spudboy 2021-10-07T01:29:00Z

This is such a clever puzzle platformer. I’m curious to know what you had planned that would’ve made it more on theme. In any case, I love the mechanic… well done!

Agnosia by Ziamor 2021-10-06T07:19:20Z

Great work! The game felt adequately strange and disorienting. I especially appreciated the ending—at least the way I interpreted it.

I had some control issues—the camera periodically snapped in a different direction, making navigation difficult.

LIFT-UP MACHINE (nightly version) by Avzgui 2021-10-15T17:05:57Z

Okay, that made me laugh!

The screen breaking effect was impressive. I didn’t see any seams beforehand.

Mysterious Mine by TheGamerASD 2021-10-06T07:08:07Z

Very creepy. I appreciated the stone head… felt different from standard horror fare. Seven switches seemed a bit much to me, but that might be because I don’t usually play this sort of game.

Volatile Defender by azagaya 2021-10-05T19:29:23Z

Great work! Fun gameplay… solid art and music. Having a full tutorial in a game jam is super impressive. :O

Bitrot by Maxathon 2021-10-15T16:49:23Z

@chtimy The screen filter is a combination of a texture and post-process shaders. If we were less rushed, we probably would’ve only used post-processing and no texture overlay at all.

Some of the enemies are rotated 90 degrees as part of the glitch. In those cases, you just walk into the top of their head to kill them; jumping on them will kill you.

Thanks for your feedback!

Kattonauten by Elastic 2021-10-05T19:39:37Z

So difficult! Fun, though! I love the cute pixel art, and the game mechanic—once you get the hang of it—is kind of addictive. I was thrown off at first because I expected it to play more like the old Lunar Lander game.

CONTROLL by kartiz0l 2021-10-06T04:40:24Z

Clever mechanic! Nice, clean visual and audio style.
