LD46 — Keep it alive

Hive Alive! by Remco 2020-04-21T10:14:59Z

Cool game! Surprisingly strategic when you learn what's going on (a short tutorial would help loads here). TBH only major issue in an otherwise v fun game is if you split a flower and it's on the edge of the map you lose one of the two new flowers, making the game way less intuitive / far too limited in your options.

Overall great job though, love the concept ;)

failsys.sh by jabdownsmash 2020-04-20T11:39:47Z

Really fun little game, could do with some metric on how 'well' you did (time to completion?) though!

Dr. Kronenberg by Ntimi 2020-04-21T15:04:58Z

Cool idea! Very morbid take on a management sim, love it ;)

The Ludum Dare Flame 🔥 by tobiasw 2020-04-20T15:32:42Z

This is such an innovative concept, definitely deserves fulls marks for that! will keep a tab open with this on for a while ;)

Idle games are my jam

Just Fishing by DrunkardWolf 2020-04-20T11:05:22Z

Beautiful, Just beautiful! However, it needs a more difficult mechanic in survival than just spamming left click as even the largest fish weren't difficult and there was no real threat of losing.

It may not want to grow even if growing = true, but it is my baby and i will sing to it and love it <3

Isle of Light by Lexi89 2020-04-21T09:19:20Z

While playing I thought 'cute game, chill atmosphere!' then I worked out to putthe tap in the tape player and mood got 100x better - nice job! :D

Wandering Star by twigames 2020-04-20T15:24:57Z

Beautiful art and well polished overall! Gameplay was fun, a hard mode that would be more challenging by giving you more momentum (so its ahrd to avoid barelling towards large starts) would be awesome :D

The Camp by randdir 2020-04-21T10:38:31Z

Love the atmosphere and concept, and the map is gorgeous - minimalist, thematic and gets the job done really well. some feedback:

* More feedback on what wille happen with low supplies / infrantry is a must (lost the MC or HQ day 1 first 2 games as it wasnt clear how to stop that). * a 'skip to midnight' button for when its configured to your liking is essential imo.

Overall, great game!

The Camp by randdir 2020-04-21T10:39:26Z

Also, after day 1 my supplies dont seem to be going down - may be a bug here?

Metamagotchi by onnofal 2020-04-20T15:18:58Z

Cool concept and beautiful design! I assume it's not possible to lose right now?

Might be worth making replacing components a bit trickier (like choosing from an assorted bin of components with a time limit) as just clicking makes the gameplay a little simple.

Keep the LEVEL ALIVE! by magicera 2020-04-21T14:33:45Z

honestly pretty fun! some way of knowing what is going on outside the immediate screen (minimap, arrows pointing to enemies ...etc) would massively improve it though, as it would make it much more fast paced / less just zooming back and forth looking for enemies.

DDoS is coming by Alexey Akulovich 2020-04-20T12:24:57Z

Cool game concept! Love the theme, it is a very fun twist on a management type game.

However, what i restarted. it was stuck on shooting throttles out - effective i guess, but not ideal! ;) throttle everything!.PNG

DDoS is coming by Alexey Akulovich 2020-04-20T13:51:03Z

Sorry, i meant i didnt want to place them, as soon as the game started it spent all my money on throttles without me telling it to ;)

Game of Life+ by Teo Miklethun 2020-04-20T11:47:04Z

Cool concept, but it wouldn't advance cell state after the first level (space bar didn't work :( )

Game of Life+ by Teo Miklethun 2020-04-20T12:30:04Z

Ahhhhhh right that makes sense! making good progress right now, tis a fun game - might want to make clear to players though that space can be pressed multiple times (As I assumed it was 'solve in one move') :)

An ocean's life by Shootboots 2020-04-20T10:35:08Z

I agree, cool concept but hard to tell if what i do works!

Final Instruction by toasteater 2020-04-20T11:50:58Z

it died! I went for resources and it died :'(

Amazing, atmospheric game - very cool.

souvenirs by SoarenDev 2020-04-20T12:20:54Z

Very innovative! Some feedback:

* When typing, it always misses the first few letters you type

* if you press' down' to speed up the text, it should stay that way.

I feel this maybe a bit marmite, as many people wont be comfortable typing in their memotires into an app, but cool nontheless ;)

The fisherman task by Huntrox 2020-04-22T12:56:17Z

Lovely chill game! I really like you made the fishing a bit of a challenge, really improves the overall experience ^_^

Protect The Artifact by WillyPa 2020-04-20T10:42:46Z

Lol, love that the timer goes to 100 seconds! difficulty should increase over time though - overall a solid game for 48 hours

Dead Spirit by Snowirbis 2020-04-21T11:02:18Z

Beautiful game, love the art style and its really quite touching :) Thought it was super hard at first, then I realised you could just run past the bats and it got a lot easier - crashed when I reached the end though!

Light of hope by retrome 2020-04-20T17:08:31Z

Liked the art style and the lack of a map was quite good as it encouraged exploration and remembering where you had been. A quick introduction before jumping you straight into the game would've been useful - I had to tab back to this page to remember what I was suppose to do :P

Rewilding: The Story of Wolfhead Valley by ChloeOfArroyo 2020-04-20T11:08:00Z

Thanks for the feedback everyone! @headchant wow, I'd really like to know how you got that high, i didnt get close to that in testing! xD

@Plopmenz what can I say, Rabbits be rabbitin ;)

Rewilding: The Story of Wolfhead Valley by ChloeOfArroyo 2020-04-20T13:14:18Z

@teo-miklethun thanks! each type of plant / animal is scored uniquely (how is shown on the right hand side when you select that type). Things that are harder to keep alive score more, i.e: * Each Meadow score 1/2 a point (rounded down) * Each Forest scores 1 point * each Rabbit colony scores 1 point * Each Deer scores 2 points (there can be up to 3 in a herd) * Each Wolf scores 4 points (and again there can be up to 3 in a pack)

Thanks for the feedback, in future versions I will make this more obvious / intuitive :)

Rewilding: The Story of Wolfhead Valley by ChloeOfArroyo 2020-04-20T15:43:33Z

@axeltherabbit thanks so much! I just tested this and seem that by hardcoding the resolution in unity, if i enable full screen it just fills a corner at the resolution I hardcoded :( A learning point for next time, but given we are past the cutoff not sure if i can change this now?

Rewilding: The Story of Wolfhead Valley by ChloeOfArroyo 2020-04-22T11:02:10Z

Thanks for the amazing feedback everyone! This is just a small update to announce a bug fix, as it seems my sleep-deprived sunday evening brain made a rather silly error - basically, the final score caluclation was as follows: ``` totalScore = meadowScore + forestScore + rabbitScore + deerScore + wolfScore + totalScore; ``` Now you can probably see the problem there - every game added the player's score for the previous game, exponentially increasing the score they get no matter what :P! I have removed the errant totalScore and reuploaded to itch / bitbucket, so congratulations @jabdownsmash - you will reign as the highest scoring player for eternity, as aint noone gonna get a score as high as that again! ;)

This however has been a good insight for me, as having a more complex scoring method that reward interactions between species seems like it would be a great way to reward players for experimentation and coming up with sustainable ecosystems - would of course be interested in any thoughts on this idea! :)

Rewilding: The Story of Wolfhead Valley by ChloeOfArroyo 2020-04-22T17:42:36Z

@mudlee interesting, thanks for the feedback! I have to admit that tinkering with the speed of things took up an inordinate amount of time - I just couldn’t find a good balance between not making the game slow but having slower movements - out of curiosity, do you think if they moved simultaneously / several at once, that would be more or less confusing?

Yes graphics were hand drawn, though on a computer not on paper - the original plan was to redraw it all on cartridge paper and scan it in, but alas I ran out of time! Thanks for the feedback :)

All That Remains by JustCreative 2020-04-21T09:23:57Z

What are the controls? I've worked out a/d for left/right and lclick 'action' but cant work out up down (w/s) don't seme to work, at least in the html5 version)

Mis Vacas by sodap 2020-04-22T11:11:05Z

Super fun game! Perfect balance of challenge and fun, and audio was on point - good job!

AetherPath by quichi 2020-04-20T11:00:49Z

I agree that a fast forward would be good, and some way to automate ships (i.e. set a list of commands to repeat, i.e. mining ship 1: go here, mine, return, drop off minerals, refuel, repeat) would be a massive QOL improvement.

Either way, this is the first game ive reviewed i want to sit down and play for fun later, good job! :D

Death Spacing by CORRUPTOR2037 2020-04-20T10:49:12Z

Ship controls seem wrong on the dashboard - it says up/down is pitch, but for me it was forward / backwards, and left/right is strafe not yaw. Cool concept though!

Dr... It's Alive! by ChrisEvry 2020-04-21T09:38:41Z

Tried on HTC vive but the controls don't seem to work - clicking the thumbpad teleports you below the floor, and none of the other buttons do anything :(

Regardless, graphics are very pretty (in a disgusting way! ;) )

Fatter by axeltherabbit 2020-04-20T15:21:44Z

HA! Very similar vibes to that old skiing game ;) I ended up finding 3 burgers and dieing from obesity - serves me right for gorging!

Kaze No Kami by ssh.randy 2020-04-22T11:06:27Z

Interesting concept! I like hows its not about burning everything (as you run out of green tiles) its about managing the burn to keep it going :D
