Cool interpretation of the theme, loved the audio for adding so much to the mood!
interesting mood
Very innovative! Some feedback:
* When typing, it always misses the first few letters you type
* if you press' down' to speed up the text, it should stay that way.
I feel this maybe a bit marmite, as many people wont be comfortable typing in their memotires into an app, but cool nontheless ;)
As said @teun-de-vries it's a really cool theme interpretation, it's really original. The music is nice and integrate perfectly with your project. Great job !
@chloeofarroyo yeah, for the missed letters during typing I had some other feedbacks like yours. I don't have the problem on my side, but I'll investigate on it for the post jam release^^ Thanks for your feedbaks!
_(double post)_
Big thumbs up for a figurative interpretation of the theme. The music is incredibly fitting. I love the overall idea, which makes me hate the fact it's so short. It's more than just a game. Well done.
This was a unique take on the theme - keeping memories alive. Great job in that regard.
The music made me feel like something bad was going to happen. Just had a ominous tone about it (science fiction movies may have ruined me). I kept wondering what impact my answers might have. Unfortunately it seemed that you ran out of time before adding an end game.
Good start to something!
P.s. - I also ran into the missing characters issue. I believe what's happening is that you're reading input to advance text and if the keyboard is still being interacted with before you've switched states, the system is still looking to advance text instead of inputting text. Might want to look into the state management of the game :)
It's simple, and I had issues getting the input to work, but it's very effective at creating an emotional impact! Great mood and excellent use of the theme.
Music is great, idea is very interesting and fresh. I have two gripes about the QoL things in the game. I really really hate typewriter effects on text animation. I can't read anything until it finishes. You have a skip button, but it doesn't really skip, just speeds up animation abit. Found it really frustrating. Also, having the font size change as I type was really distracting as well.
Loved the ambiance, it reminds me of Talos principle.
So sad you didn't the time too finish, I would love to see where it's going.
Thanks for you feedback everyone!
That input issue is indeed annoying, I'm quite sad that I didn't catch it before publishing due to time issues :/
@theartifacts You're probably right about the cause of the issue, it would make sense, I'll look into it for the post-jam release :)
@simukas Thanks for your remarks, that's interesting to have this kind of UX feedback.
I'll probably iterate over the text flow, size, etc... for the post-jam^^ I used the auto-resize to save some time and not having to handle problems with very long answers, but maybe it wasn't a very good solution after all eh^^ I'll try to find better solutions
Great interpretation of the theme, this is quite a nice experience. The atmospheric music fits the theme and I did not notice repetition during my session. One note on "typing" sound though: I wasn't expecting them, maybe silence would be more contemplative?
There are a number of typos but it is a great interpretation of the subject. I enjoy the tone you set and the simplicity of the game!
@greizgh Well thanks for your feedback :) I'll do some playtests with and without the "typing" sound (and maybe with a softer, more discrete sfx) for the next version!
Cool concept, nice experience, keeping the memories alive. I had some difficulties as the game wouldn't accept input and seems to have gotten stuck at some point where it says it wants to talk about something else, unless that is the ending?
Interesting concept! I liked the background music :)
@courtmac Thanks for your comment! Seems like writing english at 2:30AM (deadline was at 3:00AM in france) without anyone to correct the text wasn't a good idea haha
@barrier Yes there is an input issue for some people that I didn't detected before publishing :/ And yes, when you're stuck on subject changing it's the ending! I wasn't able to implement more than 4 subjects on time, and didn't implement an end screen, really sorry about the abrupt implicit end
I call it more an experience that a game, and I believe that is fine, it was really soothing and gave me a change to gather some of those old memories. Thank you!
Thank you for giving me this chance to remember some keen memories. You touched me in a sense that is very deep for something so simple. Even the questions are few, it does mean a lot.
As a sidenote I did download the game as my browser doesn't take the inputs too well.
If anything, there are a few issues that others have already stated, but I'll put my two cents in: * The typing sound. For something with a simple and calming atmosphere it is too out there. Like others have suggested well, do a more discrete and a bit more calming version. * Speaking of typing sounds, how about some for the user, too? * As for input, yeah you need to make sure the typing state is consistent. I found myself clicking on the window for every text prompt that is not the arrow keys or the enter key. * The display of the text doesn't really help with large blocks of text. It know it's made to fit the screen but I keep getting lost while I was reading before since it shrinks every time. It's better to do it with a fixed size. * Maybe a scrolling display with a fixed with of text works too. (I meant not sharp snaps.) * As for the text when writing. Spacing between letters will be appreciated.
Again, thank you for doing this. It means a lot to me to keep memories alive...
Nice take on the theme - keeping the memories alive. The music was very good, calming and slow, but as stated before, the typing sound was a bit much and could be turned off. And not all of my input was registered, often some chars went missing. Good work!
@fiakaiera Thanks for your feedback! Now I feel a little dumb for not having seen the fact that resizing the text while the player read it was -of course- a very bad idea^^" I guess I should have saved time to take a step back on it before the end^^ Many thanks for your comment anyway, I'm genuinely happy if I was able to touch you :)
Oooh, I really like the mood in this game. Though I can't help but feel like it's asking security questions, haha! Really creative take on the theme! The game seemed to freeze after it asked me what my favorite memory of my siblings was, I don't know if that was the end? Overall this was a breath of fresh air, a very unique entry!
I like the mood and idea. The music fits nicely. I played a few times, but it froze after several questions, so I'm curious how this ends. Anyways, I like it. Cheers
Well, the game is ... TLDR :D
I really like this. Super simple but also the most 'immersive' game I've tried out so far. Took me a while to realise how it pertained to the theme of 'Keeping It Alive' and then I remembered it's about memories. Nice music, nice audio and the visuals are exactly what they need to be, nothing more nothing less, so good job on those. In all honesty, if this was a full 'game/experience' kind of thing, I'd genuinely pay money to try it out. Really good work!
Nice ambiant, but the music is obviously a little repetitive, but no problem, it's really good for a game jam ! GG
Wow, nicely done! I love the dialog and it actually gave med the chill. But I got some interesting ideas out of it, so thanks for that :) I truly hope you will develop it further. Great work!
