at first, i didn't know what to do, but as soon as the parts started breaking, i undersood i had to fix them, great game, nice way of implementing the keep it alive mechanic!

Such a beautiful graphics, love it. Shame there isn't more gameplay but you said it yourself.

kromeboy 2020-04-20 11:32

Solid base idea to be expanded, and nice graphic. The core loop is easy enough and it kind of need some mechanic on the Tamagotchi side. Good Job!

Cool concept and beautiful design! I assume it's not possible to lose right now?

Might be worth making replacing components a bit trickier (like choosing from an assorted bin of components with a time limit) as just clicking makes the gameplay a little simple.

It's a really interesting little concept! Great sfx and graphics, interactions feel good too! Great job!

freya-c 2020-04-20 16:23

The concept and graphics are lovely - nice example of taking a single small idea and making that the whole game. Would happily play a more full-featured version.

Everone so far thanks a lot for playing and comments.

@listonos @kromeboy @chloeofarroyo @freya-c You all are totally right when addressing primitive gameplay or no proper challenge. The primary idea was to fork your attention into "maintaining two systems at once" and picking parts from some sort of palette was in my mind to. I was just unable to implement it fully and the Tamagotchi part at all :)

Very fitting name, the meta-(game)-magochi. Feels a bit easy, since there is no real progress, there should be more interactions (with the dog). Or more complicated repairs, maybe. Nice!

wow! another tamgotchi game ,i like this!! my project is also a tamagotchi but your concept is beatifull!!!

mudlee 2020-04-22 14:51

I would see the end game out of it!!

spthiel 2020-04-23 12:20

Very nice concept! Would also love to see a continued version of this! Also love the graphics c:

Well uhh, It's not very engaging gameplay-wise obviously, but I still really like it. It feels really good and it is beautiful. Spending time on nonsense is probably what lead you to making such great stuff, but I hope you can balance your time just a tiny bit more toward "Finishing important stuff" next time so I could give you 5/5 in everything :)

Also, if you haven't seen it already, here is another really well made tamagotchi game : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/save-dave

Nice graphics and audio. I wish their were more to do so the game would not be so boring. Good job!

gaminghamster 2020-04-23 13:00

The style is adorable ^^ Would love to see a finished version =)

bredian 2020-04-23 13:09

Nice concept, *cute* cat. If you were able to finish it it would become more addictive. Try Jam next time instead of Compo, maybe the end result will be better :-)

onnofal 2020-04-23 18:30

@bredian Oh two days of a gamejam are pretty enough for me, I probably need to stick to compos but learn from them so one day I manage to finish something solid :) Anyway thanks

onnofal 2020-04-23 18:54

@yorsh I totally knew that I am on a path to doom with time management but I could not help myself :) If I'd not count LDs I am not doing any graphics at all. And not that this'd be some big art, I just realized how I enjoy the drawing part as well (and yes I am no designer so I am incredibly slow at it), I just could not break the flow :)

Maybe I will come back later to finish it - there is more to add in a branch I am more skillful - considering it first time after a gamejam, so may happen. Thank you

so aesthetic! I really like all the little details you spent time on :) they fit together really well! awesome sfx too !
