Cool game! The art's very nice and the game's quite fun to play. You could have maybe added in a few more conditions because the game was very short to play. But, good job!

jonahsenzel 2020-04-20 07:40

interesting narrative stuff, also like the art style. Would love some sounds! The title music is great but would have preffered a silent title and in game music

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 07:49

@digitallimestone @jonahsenzel Thanks for playing!!

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 07:51

@jonahsenzel Sounds were the very next thing to be added, I swear! I even already had laser sounds and sparking sounds ready :disappointed_relieved:

Thanks for your op on music, I wasn't sure if it would feel right in-game~

jonahsenzel 2020-04-20 08:13

@jabdownsmash post jam version!

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 08:41

@jonahsenzel :smiley:

I found this method of storytelling really fun to work with, I really hope I can expand on this. Just a few sound effects would help me push the story so so much further!

munmungames 2020-04-20 09:14

Interesting concept ! I also worked with hand drawn graphics :smile: Your game would need a little bit more polish (background music, better treatment for the drawings, more effects and stuffs on the screen maybe ?). The narration is great !

gamegenesis 2020-04-20 09:29

I quite liked the story line, very well written. And the art style is really nice as well. I would say, though, that there is a lack of audio-visual feedback. When I hit the flame I don't know what is happening, did I hit it or not, but it is a 48 hr jam so that doesn't give much time. Also, the gameplay loop gets a bit stiff after a while without a sort of lose state. In general, though, it's a pretty great and innovative game. All in all, the game is well made.

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 09:35

@munmungames @gamegenesis Thanks for playing~

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 09:36

@gamegenesis Ah! Great feedback, thank you. It seems like it might not be clear that "simulation resetting" means that you lost and it's starting over. I think some visual progress bar would go a long way.

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 09:38

@munmungames Yeah hand drawn graphics!! :hand_splayed: So much more fun to split attention between a keyboard and some physical media.

kontroman 2020-04-20 10:03

i like the graphic and sound, but i didnt understand if there a way to win

munkkeli 2020-04-20 10:13

The graphics are great! I think subtitles would be nice, but I undestand they probably weren't a priority :D. The gameplay is simple but fun, although, like you mentioned earlier, a progressbar would be a good addition. A great entry nonetheless!

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 10:14

@kontroman Thanks for playing! It seems like it's unclear how the X button works. The anti-matter stream (smoke trail) coming off the flame is what generates the win condition, so you need to keep it wide without letting it overload the system.

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 10:21

@munkkeli Thanks for playing~

pke1029 2020-04-20 11:00

Love the hand drawn assets! :)

chloeofarroyo 2020-04-20 11:39

Really fun little game, could do with some metric on how 'well' you did (time to completion?) though!

qazikol 2020-04-20 13:38

Really love the visuals; very dynamic and reactive! I'd never heard of Nima, but will definitely give it a go after seeing this.

Great work!

jabdownsmash 2020-04-20 18:28

Thanks for playing!

@pke1029 :blush:

@chloeofarroyo I'm glad you found it fun enough to want to be scored :grin:

@qazikol https://rive.app I recommend it! It's like a free version of Spriter Pro with a more modern interface. If you're a Unity dev though the repo is a bit outdated. Feel free to hit me at me@aaron.work if you want some tips.

qazikol 2020-04-20 19:12

@jabdownsmash Thanks for the heads up on the Unity repo! I might well take you up on those tips!

wooowooo 2020-04-20 22:41

Loved the visual style! Cool that you came in to the jam with a tool in mind and made it work

rmheuer 2020-04-20 22:46

I like your graphics and voices :) I didn't quite get what to do at first, but I eventually figured it out. Best game I've played so far!

jabdownsmash 2020-04-21 00:51

Thanks for playing!

@rmheuer thanks for such kind words :joy:

2020-04-21 01:49

I like the art style quite a bit. I think the game relies a little too much audio, perhaps captions could work? I did have to play a few times to understand the game.

nekoruma 2020-04-21 01:50

great concept!!

vano 2020-04-21 02:38

Hi! I'm here from the stream (planet_vano). Thanks for the feedback on my game, I figured I would give you some feedback on yours as well!

Overall I really like the concept. I think the back and forth management of the two controls could have benefited from being a little harder to keep up. I also think that a few simple sound effects could have really helped the immersion of the game. But all in all, I really enjoyed the short little concept there! Nice work!

jabdownsmash 2020-04-21 05:55

@vano @nekoruma thanks for playing!

hadik 2020-04-21 20:32

Okay, what was that ? :) Very original entry :) You art is so different that I maybe like it :) Simple game with simple goal seen in many games. Big thumbs up for audio :)

marcmagus 2020-04-26 19:12

Thanks for bringing your game by my stream to play! If you'd like to watch again, the highlight is now at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/603497059
