I really enjoyed this one! It was a ton of fun trying to maneuver myself with future loops in mind while also, y'know, not dying. It was really smooth all the way through, though at one point I hit an error that crashed the game. I'm not sure what happened, I think it was when I got hit. Other than that, there were no problems. Awesome job!

Thank you. I am aware of that random crash, but I couldn't rule out the reason in time. I'm not sure if it's Unity WebGL related or what. I just noticed it doesn't reoccur later.

melvinng 2020-10-05 21:54

Great game! I enjoyed playing this game, although it was a bit difficult to survive haha! Good job!

Very nice, I tried the desktop version. I was terrible at it but my son quickly found some strategies. I really like how the inverted time period becomes so difficult, but if you make it through then things calm down again. Great idea. Does it have sound? For some reason a lot of Unity games seem to have broken sound on my laptop...probably something with my computer but I couldn't hear anything. Oh, also, I couldn't find a way to quit other than Alt-F4. I tried Esc and Q. Quit button would be good (or maybe I missed it somehow)

So I ran into two possible types of crashed. One was happening at the end of the loop, and the other was happing at the end of the rewind.

Fun Game, its just too bad i can't get any farther without crashing.

The time rewind is really interesting, hopefully it will stay unique since the main idea of this jam seems to be using your former selves rather then avoiding them.

The enemies could stand to look a little different from you as it was hard to tell which one was me when they are all designed the same with the same brightness of colors.

darkhex 2020-10-06 00:14

I wasn't aware that you can hotfix the game post jam. I will try to look this up first thing in the morning since playing webgl version seems to be prefered option. Thank you for your amazing feedback.

I enjoyed the game. It got very hectic quickly after you have previous selfs shooting as well.

ryuk47 2020-10-06 09:28

Someone got inspired by Tenet perhaps? I like it ^^

dogrady 2020-10-06 14:16

I don't quite understand what is going on, but the sound is crisp to the max and I certainly enjoy that.

rost 2020-10-06 14:17

Very difficult, I like the art style. Good job!

zrepa 2020-10-06 14:22

Haha, the idea with duplicating everything blow my mind. And yes, it was really hard. I think sound is a little bit high when you shoot. The whole idea was nice and the game at all, good job!

daidiimon 2020-10-06 14:27

Haha, it's a fun concept and I'm curious how you went about "recording" the loops, I feel like there might be some trouble with desyncs and such. Also, I can seem to get further than 3 inversions rips

offlebaggins 2020-10-06 14:28

Very cool concept! I like how quickly things amp up. There were a couple times where enemies seemed to spawn directly on top of me and shoot me which was annoying. I think having a bit more health would be nice. Besides that though I found it very fun. I think there are many different directions you could go if you wanted to expand it

ninnec 2020-10-06 15:13

Really cool idea, I liked it a lot

garys 2020-10-06 16:09

Interesting mechanic and fun to play. I found it a little difficult to distinguish between enemies past and present... good fun overall.

dyguests 2020-10-06 16:19

he key is that you have to make sure that one bullet kills just one enemy. You need to ensure as few attacks as possible.

rangoiv 2020-10-06 17:03

Tenet but in a game hahahaha, Cool idea. I think the bullets are too hard to avoid. Either they should be a little bit slower or the player should move faster.

m7rk 2020-10-06 17:03

Just a heads-up, I'm not able to get the web version of the game to load at all. I gave it about 3 minutes on firefox

alpharock6 2020-10-06 19:42

Really cool concept! I think my biggest issue was that I kept accidentally clicking through screens after dying/continuing because I was spam clicking shoot haha. Great job, especially for a first entry!

fractalsunrise 2020-10-06 20:50

Great job! It was pretty tricky but fun.

sharks 2020-10-07 00:07

Nice job for your first game! I would have liked to see the top slider changed from just the default slider but I understand with time constraints that things like that slip through the cracks. I would have also liked something to alert me when my loop was up, other than that solid entry! It was really tough though...

darkhex 2020-10-07 07:52

Thanks guys for pointing out bad design choices! @m7rk, Curius, I tried multiple browsers (Firefox included) and I have not encountered any problems. @daidiimon, I recorded the loops by recording movement input. But now i know it was a bad approach, recording the path would've been a better way. Because of that walking into walls can cause desyncs. @dyguests, This is exactly the strategy I went with. You can shoot repeatedly but have to pay for it later.

pkenney 2020-10-12 03:41

2416 was my top score. Not sure if that's good, but it was definitely a lot better than my first few attempts! First couple of games I was totally bamboozled about why the game was ending, if it was not because I directly took a hit. Came back to read the instructions and realized I was probably killing my past self.

After that I had a strategy: Take over the left side of the screen, and for the first life just bulletspam to the right while walking up and down. Second life doesn't shoot. I sort of looped back and forth between spammy and mostly-passive lives.

But even then I was a little confused because I wasn't sure about the rules of the enemy playback ghosts. Or were those greyish guys something else? There was a lot going on and it was all happening fast and when I did something wrong the screen instantly disappeared, so it was not easy to learn in this game through experience.

But the action was fast-paced so I didn't mind restarting, and the concept was interesting enough that I wanted to explore it, and the controls were tight enough that I felt like it was my own mistake when I did die. So I found myself getting sucked into "one more try" mode, over and over, which is a great sign!

Nice music, effective graphics, tight controls, and a unique concept -- all around a nice package!
