Fun! I only wish I had double jump!
I love it ! what engine did you use ?
Great idea for the theme, glitches really do fit well. Love the intro sequence "life's a .... glitch".
Very smooth gameplay, only complaint would be that the jumping feels a little too floaty compared to movement speed. Twitter integration was a neat touch.
Should consider making the menu options separate from the action buttons or adding a delay, I had a few times where I restarted the game after dying before seeing my score from spamming fire.
Really cool idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz5gIdXHSCQ
Fun little game - though I think the corruptions might have an affinity for the right side of the screen. I stayed left and avoided most boxes at the beginning and managed to survive 3+ minutes without too much trouble. (The timer also breaks if you get past a minute :))
I really liked the music and graphics in your entry. Thanks for a fun game

I was worried playing this game would corrupt all the Donkey Kong fan fiction I have on my hard drive but it turned out ok. 5 stars.
Very nice. I wish it was bigger! THe animations are lovely and smooth and glitchey.
This is rad, love it! Sick camera shake too. :)
Very hard game!
Really love the art style. I wish the controls were a bit tighter but it's a really fun idea. Also it's great to see another HaxeFlixel user.
Haxeflixel users unite! I thought your game was great! Loved the music.
Very striking visuals. Even besides the glitch effects, the color palette and camera motion all really work well. Controls are pretty clean, although I think you zoom a little too fast for such a small level, haha.
And always great to Haxe games!
Nice game, I really like the glitch effects and the music. I could play again and again with new levels :)
Like the visuals with the glitches! I feel the player probably moves too fast in the x direction for me, making the controls feel a bit sensitive. Since the game's just about avoiding glitches, why are you collecting glitch boxes, and how does shooting glitches get rid of them? Could be interesting to see what else glitches could do, like messing with player input, teleporting the player, or in general something unexpected. Keep up the good work!
I really like the visuals and overall polish! Sadly, i'm very bad at this game. Nice entry! :)
I liked the sound effects and retro style; the gun sound especially sounded nice. At first, I mostly forgot about the gun and just tried to get the boxes, but I ended up staying on one half of the screen and getting the boxes there while shooting constantly at the other side of the screen which was overrun with glitches. On my best run I survived for between 4 and 5 minutes. I noticed that after one minute the timer has a bug that shows a:.bc where "a" is the number of current minutes, "b" is the number of seconds in "a" minutes, and "c" is the current milliseconds - so you couldn't actually see how many current seconds there were. The character moved really fast and I lost a lot from just falling off the edge at the beginning, but I got the hang of it after a while. It was really fun; thanks for making it!
It's a black fly... In your chardonnay, it's a game that crashed... When its theme is glitching :) Screen Shot 2017-12-05 at 22.50.06.png
It's a really solid game, very challenging, simple, clean core loop. It might be a biiiiit too simple, though. The graphic style and juice is amazing, spot on, and the controls are pretty good for the most part. The jump height that varies between getting up to the next platform and not is a really great touch. But I found the movement too fast, and left very little room for small manoeuvres, like dropping off the side of the platform and turning around immediately. So that was a annoying. Also the shooting was a bit annoying - I know I want to shoot as fast as possible, but the best way to do that is annoyingly tap the button quickly. That's both tiring and creates a physical barrier to playing the game well - if the shooting speed were capped, you could balance the game to that cap. But now it just means some people will be worse at the game through no fault of their decision making or actual skills (I don't count rapid firing a button a real skill).
I kind of also wish there were more patterns to the glitch to discern. But I guess it's fine as it is, a great big goo of a boss character.
Other than that, really polished, good stuff :)
Thanks for your feedback so far, the HTML5 version has some minor fixes, main one being the timer bugging out after a minute.
My longest time was 33:933. I loved the glitch graphics and sounds.
this could be a nice metaphor for programming, if you let a bug unresolved, you will end up with lots of unwanted behaviors (glitches) and these can end up killing your game/app/solution.
Solid game, met the theme well enough, and controls were generally responsive, leading to some tense moments! Like other reviewers, I, too, would have killed for a double-jump.
33.749! Great entry. Really nice SFX, music and awesome graphics! Well done!
Nice game! I love the idea
Great entry and nice art style!
I just discovered that I don't move and I won't die XD. It's over 2:00 now.
The first time I opened it, the loading screen got stuck at 50%. I couldn't tell if that was part of the game. Now I'm paranoid for the rest of my playthrough.... haha
Fun game!
It's perhaps a bit hard to successfully shoot the glitches and the game is a bit hard in general. The polish on the graphics is great and it is fun to play - it captures the intended atmosphere very well.
Simple game, with an interesting and well finished aesthetic. Congratulations!
Jogo simples, com uma estética interessante e bem acabado. Parabéns! :flag_br:
Straight forward and too the point sort of game. I dig it. It really reminded me of when I had to recover some data from my external hard drive when it started to fail. Like your character is some form of algorithme created to help some computer repair technician recover data from failing computers. Could make for an interesting setting in there someplace if you decided to expand upon this game for the future.
That said I think the only major feedback I had from my time playing the game was there really isn't a critical reason to gather the data cubes that spawn around the arena. So you could just dodge glitches and ignore them, which feels like it defeats the purpose but I could be wrong.
Otherwise this was a very solid foundation should you decide to add onto it in the future. Nice work! https://youtu.be/DYoYvCeQ9XE
Cool Game Play! Simple yet fun! interesting concept
I'm not very good with these games so I didn't get too far, but I really like how everything was themed with being glitchy. I wasn't too sure what to use the gun on, but I assumed it was the corrupted data that appeared? And I found it a bit difficult to move around with how the platforms were set up. (I died most of the time to moving left, falling off of the center one to my doom.) I think it's because I figured I could "walk" right over them, like you can sometimes do in mario games?
Either way, it's a very nice looking little game. The controls were nice and how the player moved around felt nice. I'm sure if I was better at this type of game I could've lived longer OTL
I really really dig the look of this game-- exactly my taste in aesthetics. At first I did not understand what the boxes did exactly-- it took 10-12 deaths before I saw the text at the bottom explaining it.
Pros: - Works really well with the theme - Simple in an elegant sorta way - The look of those corruptions and the minimalist color choices you made. MMMM damn. - Great great music.
Cons: - I wish I could play with a controller (maybe this is an option but it was not stated outright) - Jumping down is hard with the controls as they are
Suggestions: - Some friction when on the ground would help walking and jumping have a different feel
Nice job!
I love the idea. The graphics remind me of the days when I played around with MISSINGNO as a kid in old Pokemon games :P. The overall polish, animations, and presentation of the whole thing was excellent, and while the gameplay alone was somewhat simplistic, I found it entertaining with all the other elements working together.
The only part I didn't like was the handling/feel of the character. I think it's because the horizontal movement speed is too fast, and the jumping/gravity too slow by comparison. I think slowing the movement down a little, and adding a confirm key to the drop-down action (like pressing down+jump instead of just pressing down) would make it feel better imo.
I really love the game. The graphics are goals. The audio really fits that retro feeling. A really strong compo game. A suggestion would be to make the lower platforms easier to get to.
I liked it, it has a simple goal, quite some challenge, the controls were nice, and i really liked the music The "fight the glitches" concept is also a good idea it fits this theme well.
not sure what to add more i didn't run into any particular issues, so good job :)
Sensitive controls are annoying yet the game is quite fun! Good effort!
The game is glitched, I demand my money back! Screen Shot 2017-12-08 at 5.28.06 PM.png
Simple arcade-y fun. The visuals are really cool and fitting and the sound too. I kinda wish jumping down was (down + jump) instead of just holding down as it caused me to accidentally jump to my death a few times when I just wanted to aim down. Might just be a preference thing.
Nice little game. Best run was 40 seconds. Don't know how you build that game with haxeflixel. but i can learn a lot. Thx! :)
fun, but a little too difficult too quickly.
Loved the art style of the glitch! The game became more fun when I remembered to collect the screern to stop the glitch generation. had a vew bugs when I died when game stopped responding. Would have liked maybe more levels or something to help me keep playing.
Nice entry! I see we went for similar interpretations of the theme, haha.
I did find the gameplay in this a bit simple; I would have appreciated a bit more depth to the game or a bit more use of glitches to impede the player's ability to survive.
37.149 ! Cool Game ! The athmosphere you created is really good, the graphics are simple but are really enjoyable, the music fits with the rest of the game and the gameplay is hectic and really enjoyable !
Cool game ! Keep coding !
loved the style of the game, congrats!
This game is really cool! I love the graphics and glitch effects, and the soundtrack fit really nicely. Good work dude.
Them speccy visuals man... I love it! If only my keyboard had rubber keys so I could get that authentic feel. :D
My best time: 02m14s
Awesome art style! :o The game is really fun and gets challenging in a good way. I liked the fluid controls, too. :D
Stylish, frustrating and slick. Good job. By keeping it simple it has ended up feeling well polished.
Whew! That was difficult! Of course it would've helped if I hadn't been silly and forgotten about the shoot button the first few rounds. c; If there's an end to the game/level(s) I'm afraid I wasn't good enough to reach it despite playing for a while, haha. The music is very nice. Glitchy graphics are always fun! Nice job!
As we all know: Hard + quick re-spawn = Awesome!
This one reminds me a lot of [Super Space Barrel](https://aamatniekss.itch.io/super-space-barrel), a personal favourite from an earlier Ludum Dare.
really looks glitchy, kinda hurts the eyes after a while.
Fun game and liked the fast pace of it all. The glitch aesthetic was well done and liked that you had to fight it off as you collected things. The one screen arena gameplay also worked in allowing you to try and build a strategy for moving around.
Super challenging game, max time was 20 seconds, I tried to get more to see if we had an ending but couldnt make it. Fun game and I love the pixel art, glitchs and chiptune music. good job!
I love the visuals and the music. It creates a very unique atmosphere.
Gameplay wise I am a bit torn. I found that standing on one side of the screen and spamming X and Z was a viable tactic as it prevented the glitches to come nearer, and only sometimes required to move to a lower or higher platform.
I had trouble finding out what the glitch boxed are for. Apparently they increase the amount of glitches, but what was the benefit in collecting them?
Some notes about the controls. Some control schemes mess with German or French keyboards, so using X/Z is may not be the best choice. I found that using A/S/D works for most people. If you want to stick with the X/Z scheme, you can make your German players happy by allowing to press either Y or Z for the same effect.
Personally I would have preferred to jump down with Down + Jump instead of just Down. Also I would have liked if the direction wasn't locked but instead returned to the horizontal shot after you let go of the direction key, but that could just be personal preference.
All in all I think you made a very unique game that stands out among the crowd. Great job!
Nice take on the theme! Music and visuals make up a great combination and contribute to create this unique "glitchy" feeling. I like it.
