I really like that you put a nurse there to give response for your every decision. That's a really smart move, it let me learn on the game much faster and sometimes it created some hilarious situation. Although this game is about patients and hospital, this is a fun game to play with!

Nice concept. But instructions are a bit too obscure

powerauer 2018-08-15 04:40

the game was easy to follow, but I think it would definitely help (for future iterations if you wish) is to add more pressure as you go from day to day. Really nice game. Good job!

Cool game concept. The game is actually pretty extensive for just 3 days of work. I also liked the ambient sounds.

The nurse is a good touch. But I think it lacks showing you just how much of impact you have on the lives of the people you decide to save or well, abandon. In the end, you receive only numbers after all. The fact you give some accessories is also a good touch. Very good entry.

Cool idea and very interesting approach to LD theme - but in a good way . I like how everything you do is commented on by the nurse. Overall Fun game.

A great way to tell this story. Showing the list of saved people at the end and telling who they are is a great idea.

On the gameplay side I feel like the feedback of the nurse could be a bit more clear. But I guess the main part is the story anyway.

really liked the idea!

Thank you for having suggested me your game @chao ! The design actually makes me think of my game, about the way you have to make decisions and see the outcome in the end, but I'm not here to talk about my game!

I really enjoyed the experience. The topic is hard and real, and I think you did a good job, it didn't seem too cliché or full of pity, it was just about acting, with no space and no time. I saved 42 people, don't know if it's good or not, but for LD42 I think it's a good number ^^' And I chose to stay the last day if you ever wonder!

About the quality of mechanics, it hard to really tell because I would normally say that there's a lack of feedback on available ressources, but that's what the game is about! The only thing is that I hoped is that I could remember the names of patients better so I could know if they survived or not. But that's also a part of the game, as everything is going so fast you don't have time to know more about people.

So... I'd say frustrating, but in a good way because the situation is frustrating itself IRL and I guess that it is what you wanted to depict. So I think you did a really great job! Oh and before I forget, the audio! It has set the atmosphere so well... heart touching!

Interesting game focused on decision making. I really liked how you had a limited amount of resources to spend on the more damaged folks, it made me hesitate and gauge if they really needed the help. The game (mostly cuz you had 4 options) reminded me a bit of Reigns, though it didn't quite have that gameplay. I think you could bring in some ideas from that game and expand on your concept to have choices that raise 1 resource, but take away from another. Or save one group but hurt another. Really a great start to something unique.

This is a well made game with a lot of depth considering the length of time it was made in. I think it would benefit from some sort of reward or punishment mechanic. At the end of the day I see who all died and who I saved, but why do I care? If I earned more money based on how many I saved, for example, and I could purchase some kind of powerup or something, maybe I would care. Criticism aside, I enjoyed the game. The background ambiance is reallly immersive. Great work, guys.

Great art style and sound. Good job. I like the mechanics as well. Keep it up!

Please do check my game maybe you’ll like it and leave some feedback.

Very good job, love this concept. Same commentary as PeachTreeOath : we must make a decision and that's a very good aspect.

gregwlyons 2018-08-29 01:41

I thought the list of people saved and short descriptions (parent, separatist, etc.) were a nice touch.

The commentary from the nurse is nice, but I would have liked it to be more meaningful. Sometimes the nurse obviously gives you a 'that's the wrong choice' response, but I'm not clear why. I think some games like this have the player choice, then the nurse responds, and then the player can affirm or change their choice based on the response.

Overall, I liked the game though. Quite a bit of work and the backstory, names, belongings, and all the little details help add to the experience.

saoi-games 2018-08-29 05:44

How did you get the sound for this game?

There was a great focus on making meaningful decisions, I felt the pressure to decide quickly but also wanted to find a way to save as many as I could. The hardest part was turning people away when you ran out of space before the end of the shift.

Is this based on an experience you have?

I imagine that being a triage nurse in a war region must be one of the most stressful situations.

I can't rate your game as fun, but the mechanics are solid. With some polish of voice acting and professional graphics, this could be a compelling experience.

Do you plan to expand it to offer less severe medical conditions?

I hated the ending. I just wanted to help, and the hospital was taken over by insurgents. Is there any "positive" ending that can be unlocked? The I hired Bill Gates, and we saved everyone ending?

bentglasstube 2018-08-29 05:50

Although it was pretty depressing, this was a really interesting idea. I really liked the graphical indicators of the injuries since the progression of the game made it feel like you were rushed to decide and those really helped with making decisions quickly. I did have some trouble applying the painkillers sometimes but it wasn't really clear if they helped anyway. Overall a lot of fun despite the sombre topic, well done.

infraxion 2018-08-29 21:17

Hi @saoi-games

The sound is a combination of stock Foley from freesound.org that's been heavily edited in the various programs mentioned in the submission, and Foley I've recorded myself at home.

And thanks to everyone else that commented they liked the sound! It feels great to know that the hours I spent listening to people coughing their lungs out is appreciated <3
