The strategy's fun because to use the three girls' abilities smartly but what's with this monster girls stealing husbands premise? XD
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD42 → Monster Girl Chaos: Hollow Apple

Neat game.
this game is fun but quite hard for me :sob: and i think all characters need at least 2 animations, for attack and idle.
Very cool game, I really enjoyed it ! At the end I was like "I need answeeeeers" to understand the story :p
Interesting game with great potential for application type game. I like the art but it lacks animation.
Nice anime taste mate. Now about the game. Good graphics and gameplay, however it feels a little clunky and that might be a huge problem. The narrative element it’s interesting and I will repeat again, good taste ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Overall, nice work.
A well executed game! I like the presentation because it quite reminds me of old PC RPG games and the chracter designs on the main trio are well made (personalities included *wink, wink*). The music is nice and fitting and the writing gave me a chuckle at times. As far as the gameplay goes, it's a fairly standard turn based combat system similar to the Heroes series but I think you executed it well. The differences between the three are a good idea, but I feel like Felina was clearly the best character and she ended up doing most of the work in my playthrough. The other two had interesting abilities such as the divebomb and web shooting but I feel like they needed to be just a bit more useful to compensate for the raw power of Felina. A bit more polish could have been given to the impacts outside of the great punchy sound effects you chose (for example making the enemies flash) and there were a few bugs (such as the enemies continuing to attack a girl that has been defeated which allowed me to cheese certain levels). All of those are completely understandable considering the time limit though, I am just giving my two cents as to how to improve an already solid entry with quite a bit of length and polish. Good work!
@shell-pirate Felina was only supposed to have an attack range of 1. I thought I changed it but seemingly never got around to actually editing/saving her config file. Her attack damage is also probably too high, but for LD I erred on being OP vs the game being too hard/frustrating for people unfamiliar with the genre.
If we do a post-compo version, a balance pass will be one of the first things I do.
Thanks for the feedback!
I am impressed with how much you managed to do in a weekend! Good job!
Nice work! The game was very self-explanatory and I didn't have any frustrations with it. Pretty well executed for the time constraints. I thought the dialog was funny. Peregrine felt very strong, able to move, then attack, then dive bomb to escape.
Does the web slow down enemies or block them in any way? It didn't seem to, so I wasted a few turns putting up defensive walls of webs that I think they just walked through.
By the way, in the second level, you can lure the enemies to the side of the river using Peregrine, then have her retreat while you pick them off with Felina. I think the game could have gone with more choke points or cover or something. Also not immediately clear that "Jetpack" units can fly (is that why they could go over the webs?)
I think I beat it though. Difficulty felt just about right!
Oh, wow, really interesting entry! The visuals grabbed my attention at the onset; great work within such a short time. The mechanics were fresh, too. Hadn't seen too many Tactics RPG entries this time around. Really enjoyed this! ^^/
It's impressive that you did a tactical rpg for a jam. Graphics are net.
Great game, i really apreciate the art and gameplay. I just notice some bug with web sprite that is over everything. Keep it up team !
Woah! Haven't expected to see the game this long with such amazing sprite's and characters. And god damn, those smug looks Peregine and Fang have :smirk:
I've enjoyed playing this entry so much, that I want more cute monster girls action right now! Hope you won't stop developing it and expand the story and the character roster.
Really nice game. Graphics are extremely good. I noticed a bug. When you selected the next character and select End Turn, Actions don't show ( Exemple : It's the turn of Peregine, I select Fang, I press End Turn, so now it's Fang turn, I don't see her actions. But if I select someone else and re select Fang. Actions appear )
I love turn-based strategy games, but I find making them extremely challenging - you've created tonne of TBS game play in a very short time and the story was quite interesting - so well done!
My main criticisms are just that the theme connection is a bit tenuous and that there were a few too many rough edges for my taste: - No explosion animation for the bunker busters. - Unclear how much damage is being done to your characters. - Webs don't seem to do anything. - Friendly characters couldn't path over the crossroad on the 2nd last level. - Sometimes vine pull wouldn't work and it wasn't clear why. - No lasting consequences to losing a character. - Lack of animations were already mentioned by others.
I think half the levels with twice the polish would be better as turn-based strategy games are completely reliant on all those tiny little polish details to sell the action and keep the player informed of what's going on.
Wow this is a pretty mighty game for a Jam. Looks amazing and really deep in terms of character story and gameplay. Well done!
Cool game. Nice art.
Awesome job! I like the monster girls theme, pretty sure it's a common theme of "monster girls stealing husbands" ;)
i really enjoyed this - you did a great job with the script and tying the gameplay mechanics for each character into it - well done
Really like it !! just sometimes the bugs happens when you click on the monster girls other than that great art, music, theme and humor ;3
I love the jrpg style. The movement of felina is kind of slow. Practically I won every time thanks to Peregrine. It is a great game. The art is amazing and the music as well. Although, I don't see the jam theme in it it is a really nice work. Well done!
The art for the portraits in this game is super cute! Felina's movement is incredibly low and makes her effectively useless as a unit.
I noticed that you opted out of the Audio category, and that the music is the same as the music from The Arcana; could I ask where you found it? Is it Creative Commons? I love it.
I think for a LD game this may be a little too ambitious, in that there is a lot that can go wrong. In my experience, the battles were far too slow. The first two to three turns were spent approaching one another. I never once felt in danger.
Unfortunately I grew bored of the game fairly quickly and I gave up playing after finishing the second battle.
Very well executed and fun game. Since you didn't opt out of any categories or say otherwise, I will assume you two created all of the art and music in the 72 hour period. If so, wow! Really great job.
It's not that often I see a proper turn-based strategy in LD, so this was a treat. I liked the different characters. The rules for which actions could be performed after which other actions seemed a little arcane - why can I move->attack->divebomb but not divebomb->move->attack? Once I got the hang of each character's abilities, I was able to clear the game without losing a character. The combat does feel a little sluggish, and I found myself wishing for damage number popups. It doesn't seem like there's anything stopping Peregrine from being able to kite down melee enemies by attacking them normally and then using divebomb to get out of range. Felina didn't seem overpowered to me. She felt strong enough to reward the effort of moving her into position, and 16 damage isn't that much heavier than Fang (11) and Peregrine (7 + 5). It seemed intuitive to me that Fang's webs should have some kind of slow or disable effect instead of just clearing terrain blocks. I think she's the least powerful at the moment, so adding that would bring her up to par with the others. Good work!
@belowparallel-ian We made everything except the music, that was under the creative commons license IIRC.
Lovely graphics and fun gameplay
Very solid entry with an interesting story, nice graphics, cute monster girls, and husband-seducing thoraxes (thorii? i don't know much about spiders). Great job!
