LD20 — It's Dangerous to Go Alone! Take This!

Save The Cats by ekun 2011-05-02T02:58:00

I didn't get a chance to make a game due to being too busy, I am sad. But I just got a chance to try your creation so I shall describe the experience!

Firstly I had to download OpenAL due to a .dll missing when I tried running your release. :(

After I got it working, my first playthrough consisted of me trying to figure out how to get the controls to work and everything. I couldn't figure out how to get the cats to the girl. She died.. no cats were saved... :(

The second time around, shit got real yo. I found out you do path detection shit for the cats and I was like "awwww yeah" and started getting out dem ladders. After a little experimentation I started to find bombs to be useless. Gold was so hard to find it made getting pick upgrades useless too after like level 4ish. All I could spend money on was ladders.. Lots of ladders.. I found some situations where the cat AI got stuck to, but with some bomb/ladder messing around I was able to get them un-stuck. Sometimes if you fall from a distance you'll go through some tiles from collision detection bug.. Other than that it was rather enjoyable (aside from my detest of your button layout.. WHY IS SHOP FOR ITEMS 'B'???).

Good job!

The Two of Us by ekunkeo 2012-04-24T02:59:00

I FUCKIN' BEAT THE DRAGON WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Shieldless first boss? That should be a fucking ACHIEVEMENT! nudge nudge

Planetline by SSJMetroid 2012-04-23T02:06:00

Man is there no way to update my entry page? I added a much-needed Suicide command.

Keyboard:
Suicide = K

XBox 360 Controller:
Suicide = B

Planetline by SSJMetroid 2012-04-24T05:53:00

Thanks man, yeah I put in a disclaimer about the buggy collisions for a reason hahahah....

LD25 — You are the Villain

Otaku Night Out by ekun 2012-12-19T21:43:00

We all did a good job, the problem we had was building the engine from scratch during the jam. Go figure...

LD26 — Minimalism

Min by ekun 2013-05-07T17:55:00

Nice job guys, fantastic use of the Heartline code also. The art style really fits.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Chronodrive by ekun 2013-08-27T02:53:00

I am not good enough to play this game, I'm worse than casual scum.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Planet Licker by ohsqueezy 2015-08-25T19:14:00

Very silly game good job, I won! Too bad I couldn't play with the original... controller... PS nice tunes, Sky ;)

Rainbowmancers Terrible Quest to Make Everybody Happy by dathredan 2015-08-25T00:01:00

Sick game dude I got score of 90. >8)

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Hanami - Push-Up Farming by Beavl 2015-12-17T02:31:00

What really sucks about this is that when I am actually playing the game, my attention is split so hard I don't get to stare at the amazing graphics lol... Great job though.

Xonatiuh by dementor561 2015-12-15T07:50:00

I was scared as fuck at first when the bigass snake came out.. but after a few minutes the drone "music" got extremely annoying.. Maybe if it faded into something less annoying like tribal drums? Also: I had NO idea what was happening the whole time or how I was even supposed to win... Like was I even doing any damage to the boss? I have no idea :S

Super-Bubba-Awesome-Space by Roffe 2015-12-15T21:02:00

Here's my tip on x-compiling: don't build your own engine lol... But enough sass from me. I am a sucker for spaceship games so I liked this entry, but I am still going to give constructive criticism. The spaceship's material was a bit lacking. The skybox looked great, but then I noticed the SEAMS in the corners :| Controlling the ship was a little jerky and could use some work. The planets were spinning a little too fast. But my main complaint about the game play itself is that it's very hard to aim. This NEEDS a reticle or indicator for aim of some kind.

Director Morse by tompudding 2015-12-18T04:49:00

Holy fuckin moly I am really glad I don't have to learn to communicate in morse code...

Sea Level by Christian S. 2015-12-18T04:41:00

Felt really incomplete to me, but decent starting point.

Lands of TSR Lore by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2015-12-15T09:52:00

You did a really good job with this game (demo). Honestly though, I'm not really fond of this particular style of game so it doesn't interest me very much. Great job though!

Coralina by grama 2015-12-18T04:54:00

Like the others were saying.. Very chill and aesthetically pleasing.. but needing some kind of way to win/end or indicator of such.

Neon Junk Collector by Kimau 2015-12-15T21:36:00

Visually this looks very fuckin' cool. I just wish it was completed ;(

Very Hungry SNAKE by boddiul 2015-12-15T21:13:00

EASILY one of my favorite entries. Very rarely do I play through an entire LD game, and this is one of them. At first I thought it was just a shitty snake clone. Then I was like "okay.. scrolling snake?" But then.. I realized where it was going and I was all like "Man OP you better deliver. You better fucking send the military after me." I was not disappointed. My favorite part was eating the law enforcement officers. My second favorite part was boosting a car and eating the passengers.

WONKS by moltanem2000 2015-12-15T07:21:00

This is a VERY artsy entry. My highest scores are for Theme and Mood for that reason.. I would rate it higher if the game was finished but keep up the good work!

Mystic Sapling by atrodo 2015-12-15T07:24:00

Keep workin on your skills man, never give up.

Psychra by Noah Ratcliff 2015-12-17T03:32:00

This is an interesting entry. Very artsy and atmospheric. I can honestly say this genre isn't really for me, I'm an action blow shit up kind of guy lol. But anyway, I wandered around collecting stuff for a while and the scene changed a few times, but I feel like the player's controls were a bit to floaty to actually collect the things. Also, I wasn't sure if there was an end or not, but if there is, maybe give the player a sense of how close they are to achieving it? Other than that good stuff though!

Tamám Shud by LBUncleJoe 2015-12-15T21:42:00

Graphics here are interesting. I honestly don't like narrative or on-rails type games though ;(

Dog Gone Big! by HulkHandsome 2015-12-15T07:56:00

I can see so many pixels lol... Honestly it was so low resolution it was a little distracting. I am not going to lie: I skipped all the text. But I did actually play the game. It was aight.

Supreme Collider by LoneStranger 2015-12-16T02:36:00

I played another LD34 game almost exactly like this, except I can actually beat your, so this one is more fun!

Swarm Hunter by HuvaaKoodia 2015-12-17T22:47:00

My recommendations: Increase mouse look sensitivity by a LOT. Player movement does NOT need to include roll. Speed up the player motion a lot as well. Giving the player some indicator of progress on the HUD might be good too. Of course, I suppose it depends on how much you want to immerse the player in the roll of a bug. :) Oh also, the bite animation could use some tweaking.

Track Jumper by BobmooJ 2015-12-17T02:34:00

This is like 2D Audiosurf. I understand what you were going for with the rotating camera and tank controls, but honestly I think it would be a lot better if left/right controls corresponded to left/right on the screen. Great job though.

Feed the Cat by Polona 2015-12-18T08:57:00

You should have given the cat 9 lives, I am disappoint. :|

Crow Wing by elliottd 2015-12-15T21:22:00

Very solid entry. I am personally not really into puzzle games but I played through this one.

Giant tree battle by jackolondon 2015-12-15T07:35:00

can't play in Chrome.. chrome master race deal with it :)

Simultaneism by Bogden 2015-12-15T22:02:00

It's so simple but effective. You lied to me about the two button thing though :|

Vine Climber by careless 2015-12-17T02:31:00

You should make windows deployments executables for people who don't have the JRE and don't want it. :(

Seicho Boru by Robert 2015-12-18T02:37:00

It is basically Katamari.

BUBBLEGUM UPPERCUT! by Garris 2015-12-16T00:28:00

Very good entry. Excellent animation on the character. I love the items and smash-bros-esque feel to it. Having the x-velocity stop when you hit an enemy with the attack was a good idea.

Hand of Deity by Ludorverr 2015-12-15T08:19:00

Honestly one of the better entries I've played. It was actually what I would consider to be "fun" unlike a lot of others lol

Balloon Adventure by Boltz Interactive 2015-12-15T07:06:00

honestly the controls were really weird imo.. and ya maybe more balancing needed

Pollywog by Dan Norder 2015-12-18T02:47:00

Screen needs to bigger and game should be a little faster paced (horizontally). Other than that, good job!

Mighty Paradox Platinum by punkto 2015-12-15T20:51:00

Things you should work on: ironing out player movement, difficulty balance, animation. Keep working at it!

The Complex Tarthus by Ancient_Pixel 2015-12-18T02:29:00

I agree with most of what Chubb1337 said actually. Decent entry though. Mouse axis is cheating though ;)

Crusader Climber Quest 64 by SSJMetroid 2015-12-15T03:11:00

good!

Crusader Climber Quest 64 by SSJMetroid 2015-12-16T05:47:00

@batmanasb: Thanks a lot, man. Believe it. ;)

Crusader Climber Quest 64 by SSJMetroid 2015-12-19T22:44:00

I have never actually played Grow Home or Donkey Kong: King of Swing, but I know what those games are now.

Super Soaked by Aumni 2015-12-18T02:05:00

I'm one of those guys who thinks mouse axis is cheating in terms of being a button or not.. But yeah, it looks very well done. Maybe a little hard to control. The AI is too easy to beat IMO. Nice amount of polish to this game though!

OH GOD NO by shcromlet 2015-12-15T21:29:00

Honestly it was really hard for me to tell what the hell was even going on most of the time lol..

Lunar Landing by Pietdagamer 2015-12-15T08:32:00

Great mood. Not very innovative game play, but well executed.

MANE by Enchae 2015-12-16T03:03:00

Finally beat it. Most LD entries I skip all the text, but this one I read because it was very silly, nice job with that. However, I really hate the fact that the text MOVES as it's being "typed" onto the screen. It like hurts my eyes or something man.. Also, not sure if re-looping the music each time you die was a good idea. I hated listening to the first 5 seconds of it over and over again.... But I enjoyed the game so whatever!

Forks and Porks by tanis 2015-12-15T08:27:00

crashes for me (Windows)

Polygonal Expansion by GogglesKitty 2015-12-18T03:04:00

The game was really hard lol. Cool concept though!

Earth Invader by nihilaleph 2015-12-18T03:37:00

I did it. I beat it without taking damage the first try. My arm hurts now... Not sure if I like this LOL

subatomic borrower by pyokoanarogue 2015-12-16T00:40:00

The one thing that I didn't enjoy about this entry is the platforming mechanics.. It's just really glitchy. The first run of the game I jumped to the right and got stuck in a wall :| everything else seems cool though nice job

Go On by Sean 2015-12-18T02:24:00

Well, it has two buttons lol... Great indie graphical style! Not exactly what I would describe as being a "video game" though...

Bee & Flowers by Ingon 2015-12-15T21:23:00

No Windows or web? :(

Slash to Victory by Juin 2015-12-17T22:58:00

I am one of those people who did not think rogue legacy was a good game, so I can't see myself giving you a good score for Innovation/Fun.. But I have to admit in all fairness, you did an extremely good job of replicating that game in such a short amount of time. Good job dude, keep it up!! I hope your next game idea is a little more unique though, so much potential.. ;)

The Darkness by djfariel 2015-12-17T01:12:00

Very well made entry. I thought it was a little difficult, but it wasn't too bad. My main complaint I guess was the tutorial.. I hate tutorials that you have to read like instruction manuals :S

Super Stones by lebrokholic 2015-12-15T08:05:00

ugh I am lazy and don't want to install something on google play :S

The War of Japants by Blobo 2015-12-15T21:33:00

Very hard to control. I am not a huge fan of runner games in general, I am just sick of them to be honest lol.. But yeah I got past a few buildings and at that point I got too frustrated with the controls.

Climbing The Blood Rock by PlasmaErnst 2015-12-18T02:26:00

Your google drive wont let me download the Windows version because it's not public or something and it's asking for permissions. RIP :(

2Door by Polith Games 2015-12-17T01:16:00

Graphics and mood = great. Gameplay? Well.. it's just a Simon clone.. I don't really like Simon. :S I got to the end first try though.

Dangerzone- the zen game by WERT Studio 2015-12-17T01:19:00

This feels more of an experiment with Unity. Hopefully you end up finishing it, because I like blowing shit up! Also ya, the scene was a little too dark.

Playing With Fire by sonelliot 2015-12-16T03:39:00

Decent entry. Could use some music. Right click is too stronk. Good job!

liniums by 2pae 2015-12-16T02:32:00

I beat it. Wont lie, I skipped all the dialog lol. I thought the presentation was really well done, and everything looked very polished. Unfortunately this genre just isn't for me.. Very good job though!

Tank Planet by MrNyarlathotep 2015-12-16T03:14:00

Yeah mouse movement is cheating dude sorry lol.. It was a little too hard too.

GameApi VolleyBall by terop 2015-12-16T00:24:00

This is extremely weird, and I had no idea what was going on lol... Also why was the download for Windows so slow? I took like 15 minutes to complete. Controls need the most work I think.

Block Buster by xslipher 2015-12-17T01:27:00

What I like about this is that I can learn pretty much everything about the game within the first 10 seconds, and it doesn't force me to die over and over to learn it either. Great design. Also if this is your music: I liked everything about it except for the wubby parts ( you know what I mean ).

Lightreach by cadaeibfe 2015-12-18T02:43:00

Needs more branching factor for solutions to be interesting to me I guess. Well-made entry though!

Starfleet by ddoomus 2015-12-16T02:39:00

Controlling was difficult/impossible for me, I'm not sure why... Also, why do you control with 3 buttons and the theme was two buttons? :/

Lumber Jacques Cousteau by Spiria 2015-12-16T00:33:00

Overall decent entry. I laughed when I ate too much and exploded. The movement animations of the player can use some work. You get minus one point for Theme for not having two button controls for the menus ;)

Cube Wars by Chubb1337 2015-12-19T10:18:00

I got through a few levels, it definitely feels very close to a full video game! You get satisfaction from blowing stuff up because of the polish, even though the art is a little bit lacking. I would say the things that need the most work would be the enemy behaviors and the audio/visual assets.

Radioactive Bubble Boy by DrTeaSpoon 2015-12-15T21:25:00

Conceptually good, but I think the controls could use some work.

BitBit Revolution by Ka-Wiz 2015-12-15T07:34:00

You get a Zero for Innovation and Graphics, but everything else about this was great B) I even like how you have to figure out how to communicate with the computer at the beginning. :thumbsupemoji:

Super Wall Jump by Peekotus 2015-12-16T00:46:00

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too hard like, impossibly hard. I tried so many times and I could barely get past the first couple of barrels - and mostly by luck lol. And yeah the music is a bit... repetitive. Everything else looks great though.

Protoplanet by Benjamin-L 2015-12-15T06:46:00

Interesting take on an old idea. I thought it could use some balance, I was just really bad at it hahahah. The huge exaggerated shadows were hard to deal with too.

My Dino by Reggianito 2015-12-15T21:56:00

This game is legitimately hard lol.. My main complaint would be the controls. I lasted for a while though!

Crab Quest by Squid 2015-12-15T07:01:00

You should learn to make simple games using libraries that aren't 300mb big lol... I suggest learning how to use C++ and SFML. I got pretty far but stopped because it felt rather slow for me, and there were nothing but arrow traps it seems. The rotation mechanic could use a little bit of tweaking as well. I wish there was an ending because this is conceptually hilarious.

Snowman's Christmas by beetracks 2015-12-18T03:42:00

For some reason the balls were's yellow after stage 2, and it became a game of guess/check for me...

Kimmirut Chasm by Max Amaden 2015-12-15T21:28:00

Unity's web player isn't compatible with chrome :|

StarHarvester by teeth 2015-12-15T07:11:00

For some reason I wasn't able to properly control the character? Running the Windows version.

Lokator by Echo Team 2015-12-18T02:20:00

I can't really see any reason for this game to be 500MB. Like what's the point? Sure, the materials look nice, and there is a really silky-smooth motion-blur post-processing effect going on, and this object outline shader is pretty dope, but it doesn't contribute to the actual gameplay at all, which is the only thing I'm really interested in. I hope your future titles will work a little more on the gameplay rather than just the swanky graphics. Sorry for sounding harsh, but I tend to be as honest as possible. On the plus side, I am nowhere near as good of an artist as yours lol. But I did think the skybox could use some work!

2 Buttons 1 Cup by micky 2015-12-15T07:36:00

No Windows or web RIP dude

2 Buttons 1 Cup by micky 2015-12-15T21:52:00

Nice you got a Windows build! I beat the game. It was decent, maybe the players could use some speeding up? Also if the platforming involved manipulating the other buttons that might be cool. Good job completing the dare!

Sector5-0 by curtamyth 2015-12-16T02:45:00

TECHNICALLY you used two buttons, but mouse movement for aim? That's like infinite buttons on two axis! loll but joking around aside, is a decent game for what it is.

American Excess by lectric.monk 2015-12-15T06:51:00

Movement was a bit hard for me. The art was alright. I feel like there was some witty stuff being said over the intercom, but I wasn't able to pay attention because I was trying to re-roll arrows too hard :|

Normal Factory by exhidor 2015-12-15T09:59:00

Dude why didn't you select the music option? I was jamming out to that tune. The only bad part about the music was it failed to loop :| Anyway, great job. Nice to see some more SFML and less U n i t y

Kindom Questions by theSand 2015-12-15T07:23:00

JRE?.... eugh.. no thanks man. I don't want that garbage on my dev PC lol, sorry bud.

Abyssal Zone by Leddev 2015-12-15T07:03:00

No Windows or Web.. RIP the dream :(

Blob Schmlob (BS) by SpecialChef 2015-12-15T07:16:00

You need to speed up everything in the scene by a lot. Everything is frustratingly slow. Wall-jumping is much to difficult to do. In terms of level design: I am not a fan at all of blind death pits. Other than that, nice entry!

Blue & Red by zaniarm 2015-12-15T07:58:00

It's so simple, it would work well as a mobile game honestly.

Raven's Myth by 3rdChance 2015-12-15T09:44:00

I normally really hate tower defense games, but for some reason I played yours lol...

Strong Like Orc by SpareWizard 2015-12-15T08:02:00

I will say this: the game is very well made. BUT, I am not a huge fan of "runner" games. Innovation is the only thing this is really lacking, everything else is very good for LD.

A Shot in the Dark by thecatspajamas 2015-12-15T07:04:00

An installer??? Man... no thnx :| (yep, I'm that kind of guy... but come on, it's a game jam, not a bloody commercial product)

Race to the Crusade by thejimster82 2015-12-18T02:48:00

error message: "There should be 'Race to the Crusade_Data'

Build Town by TeamMJZ 2015-12-15T06:54:00

I can't say I'm a fan of this type of game, but it was a good attempt at it. One thing I can say right away is that the text was too hard to read for me.

Tailwind by synthetic-entropy 2015-12-18T02:53:00

Decent job. I think it started slowing down after a while for me, maybe because of all the trail particles? I wish there were other racers to interact with. Also, I wasn't feeling the music, it was a bit repetitive.

Bad Pelicans by illraceyou 2015-12-18T02:58:00

A bit hard to control, but it's a decent game. I would recommend using a different tween for the rescued frogs though, they moved kinda slow and slowed the game down at the end..

Age Of Swarms by Tiberon 2015-12-18T03:20:00

I played through the first level to give it a shot, but I noticed there were a lot of weird glitchy things preventing the game from being played normally, and it started lagging really badly towards the end of the round. It was decent though, reminded me a lot of Starcraft. There's some fixing to do here though!

White Rose by Kenneth Ng 2015-12-15T07:42:00

Visuals = Very interesting. Gameplay is a little lacking though honestly. The background painting style reminds me of something my friends did: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-24/?action=preview&uid=15325

Novascape by refreshgames 2015-12-18T03:29:00

LMFAO a god damn gameboy game?? That was great man.. I mean it's not the best game, but the achievement is awesome. Mad props, you get bonus street cred.

HEARTxFRUIT by Atnas 2015-12-18T03:23:00

Holy crap you weren't kidding. The art is great looking.. I suggest you team up immediately with a programmer to make an awesome game. *wink wink nudge nudge*

My Little Planet by Bjarnovikus 2015-12-18T04:52:00

Surprisingly well-done! Surprisingly complicated as well.. maybe even a little too much so lol.
