As a person that saw the development of this game, i must say you were very clever with the solution of the problem:D . Congrats in your first LD, it's a good start. I just finished my first game on a Game Jam in my third attempt, so good job guys!
A suggestion, i think it would be better to show what your current power at the UI. And if you could drop a power and later come back to grab it again, for kill the weak guys it would be nice.

everything works lawless and the mechanic of having undamagable, but dodgeable enemies works out well.
A bit annoying when new enemies spawn right on top of you, but other than that not bad :)

This is great. I wish it had some sound and more visual feedback for hits. Its is a fun concept and it plays well.

Nice game idea! It gets difficult, in a good way. Maybe add some audio to keep you in the mood/energize you? Well done.
So, basically you burn wood and monsters to grow the flame. I'd like to see some point in it (goal or whatever) because I can't see a reason to play longer.
Good job for your first LD! The next step should be to implement feedbacks, like sounds, fx or screenshake. You're not so far away of creating something great, keep going!
Fun. I like that the various shapes affect how you knock the boss.

I felt like there was really no way to avoid the enemies since they're faster than you.
I won! Wooo! For what's here, you've done very well. I do think a couple more elements to gameplay would help though. Maybe some different movement patterns for enemies or level hazards or something like that. Your graphics are nice and consistent though.
Interesting use of the theme. Needs a little more visual feedback on what I'm doing when I collide with a bad guy or they are taking life off. Maybe some direction on what to do next when you first start out. But other than that a fun little game. Great job!

I was confused. I tought you have to attack enemys. But there is no feedback when you take damage from the squares or triangles. I just tought you have to press attack and go for enemys...

Do you really need buttons on this game? You could just let the spikes out by default and grab the powerups on getting near.
Reminds me of some kind of zombie game where you must kill the big one because you must spare ammo from the small ones.
