LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Ch^^ir by WebFreak001 2015-04-20T18:15:00

Very polished!
I'd like to see some more interesting mechanics; you have an upgrade system but the upgrades aren't particularly interesting choice-wise. You should find a way to create meaningful choices (perhaps adding range for the chair or something, something that allows you to customize your character in an interesting way). Aside from that, it's a pretty basic take on the theme; the only thing you really needed to change in this was the sprite of the weapon, which makes it look a little tacked-on. With more enemies and interesting upgrades this game could really shape up into soemthing fun and unique!

Randomsmith by Catman 2015-04-20T17:00:00

I got 480 :)

As for the game itself, it's pretty fun! I think some more interesting objects would have been good, and possibly collision detection (I'm pretty sure I made one of my weapons just loop around itself) Great audio and graphics though! And a really cute idea!

Yoyokidz by Noxlof 2015-04-20T18:56:00

Great aesthetic and gameplay! I can see this being expanded on to make an awesome game.

The audio was a bit repetitive, and the progression was a *bit* slow; you could have ramped up the difficulty a bit faster at around like wave 8 or so. Grinding for money was also pretty slow, but I guess that's important since you didn't have upgrades increase in cost.
Overall, I played way more rounds than I expected to. The controls are super fun and the upgrades are pretty interesting :)

TeleMage by ProjectX593 2015-04-20T20:06:00

Awesome controls, mechanics, graphics, and enemy design :D
Most fun I've had so far :)
The sound effects were a bit loud, but that's a pretty minor critique. I would say this just needs a bit more variety in the level and traps, but overall a solid A

You Only Dare Thrice by drakekin 2015-04-20T17:15:00

Cool! Seems like there's a solid half to a robust game mechanic here :) There should be some form of lose condition, and some sense of pressure to acquire things. Possibly the different agencies misusing the components until you take them back?

Aside from that, this was pretty decent. UI improvements would have helped the game significantly, as I constantly had to scroll pretty far to get important names and looked through the map finding the buildings. Strategy was pretty limited, and asking your handler wasn't particularly helpful for the majority of the game. Nice day/night cycle though :) If this were entered into the jam and was a bit more fleshed out it could be a really awesome game!

Waffle Warrior by Super Hamster 2015-04-20T16:23:00

Pretty good game! You have some good mechanics to prevent camping and keep the game dynamic.

One quick tweak would be to reduce the falling speed of the enemies; it's a bit hard to react to someone falling down on you. But hey, I had fun! I played a few rounds of it and tried out various different strategies :D The waffle looks really good by the way!

Billy McMath Solves Problems by Manky 2015-04-20T04:36:00

Can I give a 6 for audio?
Gameplay-wise, it's pretty limited as an interactive story that isn't that complex, but like who even cares because the narrative was hilarious and compelling. Great job!

After Glow by AmyDee 2015-04-20T02:27:00

Looks and sounds great! I managed to get to the bar, but that's about it, so I wasn't able to get as immersed as I had hoped. I enjoyed the rain effect though, that was a really nice touch. Hope you keep working on this! I'd love to see a more fleshed out version of this :)

Properante Ludum by sliphtrex 2015-04-20T04:02:00

(!!!) you can't use art assets that you didn't create if you're submitting for the compo, so that background image you used isn't allowed!

Aside from that, the game seemed okay. It's playable (a bit laggy), and you can shoot and gather points by killing ... yourself? Since the description says that there were bibles to collect and throw, I'm assuming that was the unconventional weapon, but I didn't see any available in the game. Either way, the lag made it a bit hard for me to play since things wouldn't collide properly with my ship and I couldn't get ammo. Still, it's decent for what it currently is! Keep on programming :)

Out Of Mind by Lyje 2015-04-20T03:48:00

The last level bumped up most of these ratings by 1; you should really have ramped up the difficulty at the 2nd level because that's when it gets really intense and scary and maze-y.

I'm so glad I kept going past the third level, because the next one was WAY fun. I can see how this could develop into something scary/exciting/fun. Keep at it :)

Weapon Regulator by drludos 2015-04-20T16:51:00

+1 for in-game instructions :)
The fact that you take the weapons of all people who are nearby is kind of annoying; I'd suggest only taking unconventional weapons if they're available, otherwise feel free to take points off haha.
Aside from that, this was an awesome game. Definitely innovative, I like the bullet dodging aspect of the game along with the weapon collecting. I feel like there should be some sort of penalty for not taking unconventional weapons, Overall it has great polish and looks/sounds/plays really good!

Star Power by NickMakesGames 2015-04-20T03:00:00

I went a few floors in before giving it up. From what I saw, it doesn't seem like there's much room for error. Since you can between rounds totally set everything up it's pretty easy to play perfectly and it just becomes a bit tedious to do the math for it. However I like the idea of the mechanic, and I think it could go somewhere interesting. It hit the theme well, and I don't think many other people will be doing this unconventional weapon :)
As for graphics, the things that were there were good, but it could have benefited from slightly more sprites. Also, the sound effects were a bit too noisy for me.

Unconventional Card Battles by benjih 2015-04-20T20:16:00

Nice mechanic! It's a bit on the easy side, but that's not bad for showcasing the game! I think the mechanics are solid, but could have benefited from a larger variety of cards to really take advantage of them. As of now, there's a pretty easy to see tier list for the cards and not a lot of counterplay. The graphics were solid, and audio was passable, though could have used sound effects. Overall, I played a few rounds and enjoyed myself, so Mission Accomplished :)

Bane of Arthropods by AnaglyphCoding 2015-04-20T19:18:00

The frame rate was a little slow for me, might just be my computer. I couldn't make it past the first level!

Mass-X by hexagore 2015-04-20T17:33:00

I managed to finish it :)
My one critique is that though I appreciate that the mouse maintaining its position while you're falling/moving could be helpful, it actually messes with the gameplay that you've given us, since the last 2 levels expect you to move the mouse while falling and it gets really hard to do that when it's maintaining its position in the level instead of following your cursor.

Aside from that, the graphics are A+ and the sfx were great! I loved the idea / weapons and the dialogue was the perfect amount of funny and unobtrusive.

Quest For The Orb of Toz by Orange 2015-04-20T04:14:00

This was SO fun. Music was a bit repetitive but a seriously fun mechanic more than made up for that. I loved the little combos you could do, that really added that extra level of fun :)

Slime Quest by XeroCake 2015-04-20T17:23:00

You have to add the Data folder for your Unity game, can't just have us download the .exe or it won't work! I suggest zipping it up and re-uploading to itch.io

Infectious by Chemical_Studios 2015-04-20T20:30:00

The first few waves were WAY tough, haha. I'd recommend giving people a few more zombies :)
Other than that, it's a fun little game! Similar mechanically to Infectionator(?), but that isn't terrible. I'd suggest adding something to the mechanic to make it a bit more unique. Also pathfinding was a bit frustrating at times. Nice graphics though!

Roll Initiative by Lynx 2015-04-20T03:20:00

Not sure if it's just me, but the Web version is not loading up. I might just be lagging to death though!

Love is in the air by BabaJaga 2015-04-20T19:56:00

That last level was tough!
It was a decent game, could have benefited from better sound design. Animations and graphics were great though!
The level designs were very good considering the mechanic, though I would say that the mechanic alone wasn't too exciting, but your levels really brought the most out of it. Good job on that!

Toby the Reckless Giant by amras0000 2015-04-20T16:38:00

I'm having issues reliably picking things up, but I'll assume that's just my user error :) The pickup mechanic visually looks very neat and the relative inaccuracy of throwing fits the character very well. It's pretty fun/stressful, though that might have been with my difficulty in picking things up haha. Graphics were really good, and the music was spot-on.

Getting stuck in the corner is the worst, there should be a way out of that.

The Power of the Flower by Jungle 2015-04-20T18:42:00

The background music is AMAZING. sfx were a bit loud and sharp.
Overall it was an okay game, there weren't many interesting mechanics at play, it was a simple 2D sidescroller shooter. The game would have benefited from more mechanics that were specific to hippies/flowers. Keep at it! :)

Judge, Jury, and Executable by Chadivision 2015-04-20T03:33:00

Well you got the humor part down :P
Aside from that, unfortunately it's just a quiz you take. I'd suggest either having a larger pool of random questions for replay value, but really a quiz as a mechanic for a game isn't that exciting. I said 4 stars for mood because the dialogue was well written and the UI/graphics immersed me pretty well.

Sandwich Assassin by stuffedgravy 2015-04-20T16:40:00

@Armanky: I definitely considered some sort of undo, but unfortunately the ability to remove ingredients made the game trivially easy, since you could just mess around with the sandwich until you had a perfect setup. :) Resetting the whole sandwich sounds like a good idea though!

Sandwich Assassin by stuffedgravy 2015-04-20T19:00:00

@ManicMiner WOAH that's a lot of time, thank you so much!! Is the Purple King even beatable? I didn't quite get to test that level very thoroughly haha :)

The Song of Aria by sydan 2015-04-20T03:16:00

This is super high quality! The mechanic is both inspired and super fun to play with. The animation for the tiles coming in and falling out looks absolutely beautiful! Levels were decent, enemies had some scary moments (the rushing thing freaked me out the first time haha).

The only issues I had were that the movement was a bit too floaty, and the health indicator bugged out a bit so it wasn't very clear to me when I was about to die or if bandages worked.

HOW TO DESTROY AN ISLAND by syncxzoz 2015-04-20T18:05:00

As it stands it's not quite strategic. I just clicked randomly until the island got destroyed. I'd add some sort of feedback as to what each choice does in comparison to the others, and also possibly a lose condition (failing to destroy the island). This could be turned into a really interesting mechanic for a puzzle game though!

The Revenge Of The Sea by lunke 2015-04-20T20:18:00

I always have issues with .jar files, so this might not be true for others, but on the Windows build I'm getting "A Java Exception has occurred". Did you include all the libraries/etc?

THE REVENGE OF IMHOTEP by sawyerWeld 2015-04-20T17:54:00

That's some nice polish!
The movement and firing felt super good and responsive, I'm very impressed :)
Level design could have been improved, and I'm sure a larger variety of enemies could have made this game incredibly fun. You have a really good base for a super awesome game though!

The Towel Club by team_towel 2015-04-20T20:36:00

Oh my god best art style and idea ever. Aside from that, the actual fighting game isn't too exciting and could have used a bit more strategy.
I also found a bug where if I tap the attack rapidly it constantly loops through the attack animation and I can't stop it.

Love Bomber - The Cult Simulator by Suese 2015-04-20T04:44:00

This was cute! I enjoyed the game, and it was an interesting spin on Pac-man. Do the tanks do anything or are they just there for environment? Either way it had amazing graphics and was really fun; I played a few more rounds than I intended :)

LD37 — One room

levelone by dietzribi 2016-12-30T19:54:00

Best narrative in a game so far. The controls were a little raw, but that fits the story perfectly. The only thing that felt out of place was the bg music, especially when compared to the narrative/story/sfx. But if all I can find to complain about is the bg music, you're in a great spot! Congratulations.

Dungeon Market by Omniorcus 2016-12-19T00:37:00

I really liked the ambiance, and what you managed to do with the art assets. The gameplay was ok. If there had been more transparent info (how much the base cost of an item was to start with, if people were happy or upset with purchases, when bargaining was over, etc) I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more. It would have been nice to see something unique with the monster setting. I didn't see anything different from Recettear's bargaining. The scope of your game was well executed and polished, though, and for a game jam this is a great effort!

Not Enough Meatballs by tartlegames 2016-12-11T22:15:00

my itch embed worked. You can get a LD-specific link inside the project embed settings I think.

Not Enough Meatballs by tartlegames 2016-12-13T01:09:00

It was pretty fun! Wish we had feedback on where we're getting shot. It's hard to tell that kind of thing, but the AI isn't good enough for it to really matter right now. I liked the art style and the environment (the steps and the columns were used extensively). I wish the meatball weapon was a bit more unique mechanic-wise, but I understand the compo constraints!

Idle Office Simulator by Moeilijk 2016-12-29T22:24:00

Not a lot of variation for a clicker game, but the visual upgrades definitely saved this. I played (almost!) to the end. I think there's some balancing issues, since passive income was pretty outclassed by clicking, so there wasn't really much of an option until the very last 2 before engines. Also, not sure what's going on with the carpet, it seems to be scaling way too fast and the texture is all glitchy.

Life.exe by wujood 2016-12-14T00:45:00

I enjoyed what I could of the puzzles, but got stuck after the first one. I would suggest a link that has a quick walkthrough for people looking to review the game! Of what I saw though, I enjoyed the humor and the puzzles seemed satisfying (911 was pretty crucial for solving the first, wish it kept giving you hints). The audio started getting a bit repetitive, but I don't think it's intrusive enough to get on anyone's nerves. This is one of the few game that I've seen that actually engaged with the theme outside of "we only coded one room"!

Tower of Doom by Levin 2016-12-13T00:26:00

Audio sound effects are a bit loud and spammy. The gameplay is decent, but I'd describe the overall experience of the game as frustrating instead of difficult/fun. A great title screen though, and I like that there was effort put in for local multiplayer!

Unfinished Shaman Game Demo by alexmakovsky 2016-12-31T18:05:00

Unfortunate that this was unfinished, since I see some cool potential here! The art style is beautiful, but I'd recommend working the other direction next time (get the clicking parts working first, then make pretty art). I liked the animations, and I appreciate the attempt at making fire-building more interesting (at least hypothetically) by having it use both moss and wood. You should consider doing the Jam with another person so you can focus on drawing and animation!

Cursed King's Court by kraftkar 2016-12-19T00:49:00

This NEEDS to be turn based. It's way too frustrating as a player to have to click that fast while barely reading your cards or knowing what you'll be doing with your clicks, especially when the game looks like it has some awesome strategy options. I love the art and the music fits well. It's also a good sign that I have that strong of an opinion of the turn-based, since you actually had me engaged! Overall, I think this is a great game. Don't think it fit the theme very well, though.

Alchemist Slave by Unentokku 2016-12-18T21:38:00

The main challenge in this game is grappling with the way information is displayed.. Which is not ideal for a game that requires the player to learn/memorize a lot of information to succeed. For this game to succeed, you would need an easier way to get information, and then create some sort of constraint that keeps the game interesting (and avoid you being able to figure out the formula to win). It's definitely an interesting idea though! Haven't played anything like it for LD yet.

Arcane Incrementalist by deathray 2016-12-18T22:26:00

Reviewing the Jam version: If you're interested in making an idle game for LD again, then I would suggest having it be sped up significantly for reviewers (maybe a "review mode"?). I love the theme and art for this, but there needs to be more strategy to an idle game. The sanity/knowledge trade-off is a good start, but not enough to actually promote that many strategies or progression routes, and the grimoire purchases are just another step in a linear path. I see the potential though, and I'm sure not all of your ideas are in the game. Aside from that, the art looks wonderful and I appreciate the attempt at the genre.

Floor is Lava by RedPanda 2016-12-18T22:52:00

I actually suck and can't beat the first level, but I still enjoyed it! This is a good way to fit the theme into a platformer. I think the character might have been better themed as a cat or some other small animal that can jump, though having a super-baby that grunts like a dude is pretty wonderful. The lava is definitely tense, though I think a slow rise would make it more impactful. Lava grows so quickly you basically don't notice it until you're dead.

Gentleman's Darling by ziege 2016-12-18T22:01:00

The room-changing animation is pretty wonderful. I don't love the way bullets work (it seems like my bullets hit walls or miss way more than the enemy's) but it worked well enough! I do like the reload mechanic a lot. The fact that there were static rooms took me a bit to even notice, and even after that it was annoying to potentially go back a room when you meant to go forward with the levers. Overall, it was an ok game.

Finding Home by abezuska 2016-12-13T01:01:00

cute ending and awesome graphics! The end location especially looked really good. Congrats!

A Matter of Time by giordanno92 2016-12-22T01:27:00

Was fun! The gameplay was a bit simplistic and the boss behaviors didn't change that significantly, so you basically had one set of behaviors you performed for all of them (or at least until bomberman, where I couldn't go further). I liked the grpahics and the music and sfx were perfect, though!

Walkie Talkie by managore 2016-12-30T20:06:00

The text version of that draw-your-bike flash game from a few years ago! This is very cool, and was a refreshing take on the theme. The ascii features are really cool. My ONLY constructive criticism is that I wish there was a bit more vertical whitespace between messages, so the platforming isn't as cramped (but I can also see how that would affect the look of the chatroom negatively). Amazing job!

Cancelled Refuge by SinclairStrange 2016-12-22T01:47:00

So much fun to play! And the looping was a great way to keep to the theme. This is one of my favorites so far, congratulations! Very polished presentation with interesting gameplay, what more can you ask for?

Space Attack by laylow 2016-12-12T03:16:00

the embed is a little too large for the screen and I had dialogue size issues, but this was great! First LD game I played for a significant amount of time. The dialogue mixed between levels was awesome. I think there are some balancing changes you can probably do (shields seem kind of underpowered) but for a compo game this looks and feels great!

Tamagogeek by dodormeur 2016-12-19T01:00:00

In two days I became a master and my skills were so amazing I could sysadmin at any company I wanted to. I also ate 20 pizzas and read 5 books. The scale of a day seems a bit off :)
This game was very fun! It was pretty simple, but the job progression saved it. I enjoyed myself a lot! Congratulations.

The Last Room by stuffedgravy 2016-12-12T03:04:00

Nice feedback! I didn't think about messing with the turn radius for the blobs, that would have made the gameplay more dynamic.
... I did make it more difficult than I should have, and it's TOTALLY NOT because my win screen is ugly and dumb.

The Last Room by stuffedgravy 2016-12-20T00:42:00

@kraftkar: you actually can, but you have to use all your spells to do it. I managed to do it in 10ish tries, but it's hard not to die trying!

Orb Protector by MrJoshuaMcLean 2016-12-13T00:53:00

That background tile needed to not have light speckles like that!

Aside from that I didn't feel like there was a real punishment to letting your orbs go. You can camp out in a valley (valleys are easier to defend than hills!) and basically just sit there with 1 or 2 orbs for forever.

I think instead of awarding a bonus for orbs, you should have implemented a punishment for letting orbs go. That would have helped keep the game more dynamic, and would have forced me to care about all orbs. Overall though, I enjoyed playing the game and played for more waves than I expected to!

CORE by atcolombini 2016-12-29T19:14:00

This was an awesome mechanic!
I think better instructions would help significantly, but once I understood how to move and shield, it became very interesting. Good job!

The One Room Experiment by Siegfried Croes 2016-12-30T19:38:00

Great aesthetic and fun to play! The game was balanced very well, and the platforming was surprisingly clean (I was worried the top-down perspective would cause me headaches, but I never felt like the game was being unfair when I ran into spikes). The level design really elevated this game for me. The combat mechanics are pretty simple, but the placement of pillars and spikes made each room different enough, and the difficulty escalated at a steady pace. Good job on that! If this game had a combat/movement mechanic that encouraged strategic choices I would have given this a perfect score.

The Crystals of Gingledoof by The Tophat Demon 2016-12-14T00:17:00

That was fun! The resolution of turns was not intuitive (I should have escaped the dynamite blast, but instead it hurts me and prevents my move!), and there were a few bugs with throwing that made it a little hard to predict what would actually happen with your turn. The controls also took some getting used to, but I enjoyed the fact that you had multiple enemy types and I enjoyed myself playing it! Also, the humor really helped with the overall game.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Treehouse Party by stuffedgravy 2021-04-26T21:08:39Z

sorry about the kazoo jump, everyone! I got too used to playing through my own janky platforming :)

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-26T21:50:30Z

This is so polished, it's amazing. You get my first 5 star overall review.

Through Dimensions by potatolain 2021-04-26T20:52:36Z

I really liked this! There were a few bugs with enemy movement, and I got stuck during a screen transition which was unfortunate. I had a few problems with tiles being unclear if they were barriers or not. Discovering that I could screen transition was awesome, though :) I ended up enjoying myself, even though I've acquired a grudge against smiling blue blobs.

Deeper and Deeper P. I. Agency by v1ru6 2021-04-27T14:50:10Z

The level and characters were really cute, I liked the switch between first and third person (and the little window at the bottom showing first person) - I got confused as to what my objective was, I think possibly the patterns were different for aliens? or the alien part wasn't implemented :) Probably worth adding a bit to the description explaining the controls / mechanics.

The character texture painting turned out pretty cool too, it works really well with the detection device idea

Make sure to link your source code too! And worth explaining which assets you made yourself vs used from free assets so people can rate graphics appropriately!

Georgina and the End of the World by Rainsong 2021-04-27T03:59:55Z

That was a cute story! I liked how the character changed into a butterfly between scenes. The story itself was well composed, and the game itself kind of reminded me of those children's adventure games ala Freddie Fish. Giving the player a bit more interaction would be a nice improvement (maybe having to catch leaves to progress the story, or something like that) but overall it was a relaxing game to play before going to sleep :)

Wandering by apeyrard 2021-04-26T22:54:02Z

the background graphics and cutscenes are amazing!!! Super well done for the short amount of time of the game jam.

I think the movement mechanics were a bit rough, I had issues with colliding and being launched in weird angles. I would have been happy with 1 less level and smoother jumping/collisions. The overall mood of each level was great, the music and environment paired well together.

Elevator to Hell by SpookyTrain 2021-04-26T21:28:24Z

The wave complete song is amazing! I wish it was playing throughout the game :)

The definitely-not-lizard hellhounds were my favorite enemy by far, they behaved really well! Good job on that.

I liked all the weapons/abilities, though the dodge felt less useful - my normal walking was enough to kite enemies around. Shockwave also seemed counterproductive since the ranged attack did best at close range.

Overall had a blast playing though, with one or two more enemy behaviors I can see this becoming something I could play for hours!

Into the Forrest by frompdx 2021-04-27T00:29:07Z

interesting concept and application of the theme! pathfinding for your units seems to be working, which is awesome. An RTS base building game is an ambitious concept for a game jam, and you made a good amount of progress in it! Congrats :)

You probably had more features in mind, but currency / enemy attacks seem pretty important to have (and/or a reason for exploring the forest)

Afraid to Turn by rhoff95 2021-04-27T00:49:26Z

I definitely had moments of panic when the wolves came out the first few times (having you stop moving during aiming was a great decision) - loved that part of it, and once I figured out how to spook the wolves I was able to cure myself.. barely in time!

Really great animations given the amount of pixels you were working with, and sounds were super solid. A strong compo entry!

Deeper and Deeper- A drop's journey by Tankou 2021-04-26T20:24:04Z

Super cute graphics, audio, and theming. Movement was a bit slow and stiff.

The level ending cutscene is absolutely amazing :)

Deeper Fishing by Thoastbot 2021-04-27T00:41:41Z

Once I realized I needed to look at the coordinates to figure out where I was on the map the game really opened up. Giving a distance on the graphic would probably make the game easier for people to pick up, but I was still able to grab a good amount of fish :) Your sound effects are realistic and I liked the animations you had. Really good job for compo!

Bit Dungeon by KroyIsYork Games 2021-04-26T20:17:46Z

404 on the itch.io page!

Downward Dog by vincinerated 2021-04-26T23:57:53Z

Incredibly adorable! I had a lot of fun and the level generation was pretty smart (giving plenty of tempting-but-dangerous bone locations). I enjoyed myself way more than I expected to! The menu screen was a very strong intro, the dog house and above ground background was super well presented!

A mechanic encouraging people to move quickly & some minimum amount of required bones would probably help gameplay balance, since right now to play correctly you basically want to pause and think things through, but the game is more fun if you go fast. The pickaxe item felt super strong, which is good for the game jam so that it's easy to tell that there was an impact to the purchase :)

The art and animations are cute and consistent, and the game has a great mechanics foundation for challenging and interesting levels.

Few issues I was running into is that it wasn't really obvious you could kill skeletons, which caused me a bit of frustration. I also found it very difficult to see where the fireballs were at / going to. I think those made the game feel a lot more frustratingly difficult than it was meant to be.

Overall it was fun to play, and I felt pretty smart after completing some of the levels :)

Lurking Sea by Saileeich 2021-04-27T17:19:07Z

The jellyfish made me jump! It started off slow but gets kind of challenging towards the end. The background getting darker was a nice touch to show the different levels. I liked the fish variety, too. Good job!

@jibberwocky oh nooo I didn't realize that the bounceback force I used to avoid people getting stuck on walls could bounce back THAT far :( that's what I get for not putting the time in to set up proper collision..

Hiccups by cogcomp 2022-10-06T00:51:11Z

Feels very Bubble Bobble in the best way :)

The graphics were cute, the monster designs all reminded me of arcade game enemies, and it was cool to see this aesthetic but without pixel art.

I know 10 seconds wasn't a decision you made, but it really goes to show how the theme could have been nicer with an "every X seconds" flexibility :) Thank you for adding the space bar to help with that!

There were some problems with collisions, especially when jumping up into a tile. I also managed to get damaged in the corner and fall out of the level at one point.

I personally liked the character movement being a bit floaty, it kind of reminded me of older arcade games and it also helped keep the difficulty up since trying to hit an enemy becomes much riskier when you can't instantly escape their line of fire by jumping.

For the overall game experience, I felt like I was reliving last weekend :) The level of polish absurdly high, and the graphics and little details in each minigame are all adorable. I'm not sure if this is just me, but I felt like each day had 1-2 too many minigames, maybe a couple less minigames would have been better for pacing. I also wasn't sure if the design minigame was exceptionally more difficult compared to the other ones, or if I was just bad at it. It wasn't so difficult that it was frustrating, though, so overall not an issue :)

Raiding By Myself by wildmusketeer 2022-10-10T21:15:25Z

This is a very cool mechanic! The puzzles ramped up in difficulty pretty fast, for a game jam game I think it might make sense to lower the challenge of the levels so people can see everything you've created (for reference, I ended up stopping at level 6)

I had a bug come up where I was forever-loading into the first level and I've had a few of the UI bugs mentioned above (pressing escape kicks me out of full screen instead of opening the menu)

The intro was really cute and I think it did a lot for worldbuilding, which I'm a fan of. I also highly appreciated the level restart hotkey.

The First Fire by scottgoldsmith 2022-10-05T04:58:01Z

My first round in and I tried to pet the doggo, I guess I'm not cut out for surviving in the wilderness :D

I had a couple good moments of tension where I was kind of far from the fire gathering wood and it turned to night, I think with some tweaks to the wolf movement that could turn into a real sense of panic as I try to reach the fire before the wolf gets me.

I found the UI tracking materials to be handled well, the carry limit was intuitive and easily understood thanks to the dots.

Sushi Panic by Delightfullymad 2022-10-03T13:13:48Z

Very cute art and concept!

I had some resolution issues that made the recipes disappear after I had too many customers waiting, but still managed to make it decently far :)

The ramp up of difficulty was very appreciated, it helped me get used to the mechanics before it got too hectic. The recipes were fun and I had a few moments of being just about done with the recipe before something broke, which felt frustrating in a good way. The repairs could have been something equally engaging since I ended up spending most of my time towards the end just fixing things, and having something skill-based would make it feel like I had more agency over the time spent repairing.

Wizard In The Purple Robe by J0ye 2022-10-03T13:45:45Z

This was a cute puzzle game! I enjoyed it and played it through to the end.

It took me a while to realize that I could move and use an action on the same turn, but once I figured that out the puzzles were really satisfying. It took me a few attempts on most levels but I didn't feel like I was too stuck on any of them. The game made me feel smart, which I think is the goal of puzzle games, so congratulations!

Also, the music is A+. I've kept this tab open to just keep it on as background music :)

A Handy Job by 0X_VOID_X0 2022-10-06T00:17:03Z

Graphics, audio, and mood are all great. The game is super polished and enjoyable to play.

The main highlight for me is the tutorial. It was a total game changer for this style of game, adding that in was an incredibly smart move to give people the opportunity to play around before jumping into the frantic 10 second timers. I think without it I wouldn't have understood half of the mechanics that were added.

Tower of Time 2 by CodeRaurus 2022-10-08T15:04:01Z

This is a minor note but I loveee the color scheme of the background.

The movement was pretty nice, as mentioned by others that third level was extremely tricky to beat but once I made it through the other levels felt fair in terms of difficulty.

I didn't realize until about halfway through that the timer stopped while not moving, it might have been nice to somehow visualize this or make the mechanic usable in a level so it became obvious (did the falling blocks stop falling when the timer was paused? I didn't have to stop moving in those levels so I didn't confirm)

Overall it was a solid run and jump platformer!

Blade To Blade by Jibberwocky 2022-10-03T13:25:09Z

This is such a cute concept, and it let me live my escapist fantasy of flirting melodramatically on a cliff. This feels like it could be a minigame in a dating sim.

I definitely had to read the instructions to understand how to play (thank you for including instructions!) but after that it was much easier to understand. The emotion icons coming out from the enemy were really helpful for reminding me what I had done previously, and I liked that some responses had mixed emotions to them to make it a bit more interesting.

The dialog was adorable. I kept trying to extend the fight to see how much there was :)

Those students REFUSED to get angry hahaha

The minigames were all pretty good! I was surprised by the variety as I went through the days. It took me a bit to find the minimum requirements per day for each job but once I noticed that in the top left it was a lot easier to navigate. I also liked how the tasks didn't reset when the timer ended, that was a neat way of handling switching between tasks and made the timer mechanic much less frustrating. Graphics were understandable and the music was a nice background to my frantic movements :)

Switch and Click by wrac4242 2022-10-05T23:34:50Z

Whoo, made it to score 300!

As others said, the movement in the embed is a bit difficult. I ended up holding the button down and just pretending it was ice physics which worked out pretty well in the later rounds when there were multiple things to move (props on making it so that the different color characters collide properly and don't overlap!). I think overall this is a good variety of minigames for a game jam. Sound effects were a nice touch too :)

No Time For Love by davidtheginger 2022-10-05T23:44:18Z

art and music are sooo nice, and the game itself really captured that hectic trying-to-keep-up-with-the-conversation-of-a-stranger-you-are-flirting-with feeling. My favorite detail was how everyone had distinct voices; it really enhanced the characters for me. I could see this mechanic extended in some way in like a visual novel or rpg, though it was hectic enough that it would have to be used sparingly I think. It was a cool mechanic to play around with though!

I do wish that at the end I had a visual on who felt which way about me, because I definitely didn't remember everyone's names... :eyes:

Thoughts by Question 2022-10-08T15:37:10Z

The end boss was well done! The thoughts mechanic was by far my favorite part of the game. I was kind of sad that the end boss ended the game since I wanted to keep unlocking more thoughts; it was an engaging way to add a sense of a storyline into the gameplay.

The dialogue conflicts ended up getting a bit repetitive towards the end, unfortunately. I think having the encounters have a single strength/weakness made it easier to spam click and ignore combos -- shuffling them around mid-fight might have made it more dynamic maybe? The character designs were all pretty cool as well.

I'm really impressed given that this was a game jam game! There was so much content and different mechanics that were all pretty well fleshed out.
