LD37 — One room

Dungeon Market by Omniorcus 2016-12-17T10:45:00

Beautiful Main Menu screen, great art and audio throughout! Some more feedback from the customers would be nice. The easiest strategy I found was to keep the slider in the middle for all customers. If I tried something else I'd usually loose profit or make them leave.

(Btw, thank you for the wonderful feedback on my game! The Cookie-Clicker strategy is an issue I'll have to adress in the future, so thank you for pointing it out. Good luck in the compo!)

Beautiful game, the graphics are very nice and gameplay feels smooth. Unfortunately the store felt a bit awkward to use.

Fun and cute game. Love the sound effects! Couldn't pick up the shotgun either, but was able to switch back to the pea shooter.

Beautiful game, I really liked it

The Story of a Ministry of Truth Employee by Hjalte500 2016-12-15T10:16:00

Nice homage to Papers, Please and 1984. The dropdown menus need a background, it was hard to read the options.

Moonlight Maximum by slimabob 2016-12-14T11:59:00

Nice game, good word on graphics and audio.

Hero Wardrober by Detocroix 2016-12-13T22:42:00

Graphics are beautiful. Some trial and error needed to learn what the customers want (some want multiple items).

The Last Room by stuffedgravy 2016-12-19T02:50:00

On my first playthroughs I tried to close the two starting portals on the edge of the screen, but I'm guessing those can't be closed? Furniture is a real hazard in this game. Very difficult. Good use of theme.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Calorie by Terryd98 2017-12-04T21:25:22Z

Good job! It's a somewhat twisted idea, exploding, having food chase you, getting too fat to go to the gym. I also had to realize myself when I couldn't get to the gym anymore and give up... which is kind of horrifying given the real-world parallells. Nice use of theme :)

Nice music, pleasant graphics, interesting gameplay. Good job!

Loot Drop by Snowdrama 2017-12-06T10:27:13Z

Beautiful looking game. You did much good work here!

Some constructive critisism (I hope). - The music is nice but doesn't really fit the mood of fighting a demon in a collapsing tower. - The controls feel somewhat unresponsive. This might be due to the physics you've used to move the character? - The character gets stuck on edges and walls and the ground check is not good. Some raycast checks are needed against walls and floor. - It's a really nice idea with the rotating tower, but I fell off the tower. The character slides further from the tower while running and snaps back in position only when stopping. You need to do the correction more often or use a different technique to keep the character in the right place. - The puzzles are nice, but I want more information so there is less trial and error. I would have liked to know the needed weight at the start of the level (not at the exit), the weight of each piece of loot before I pick it up, the current weight of my character and even the maximum weight to still clear a jump. This would enable me to plan my run. Maybe the ability to drop each loot piece individually could solve this.

The art is really nice. Congrats on a solid entry! :)

The Luckiest Businessman by mortus 2017-12-05T19:15:22Z

I like the graphics and sound design. Nice job! It's an interesting time management game, but unfortunately with too much RNG for my taste.

Birds Birds Birds by Versatile Box 2017-12-04T21:41:34Z

Beautiful game, great music, funny. Good job overall!

Dungeon Boy! by nardandas 2017-12-06T09:02:44Z

Good music and sound. The amount of modelling and animation work you did is amazing! The mood might have benefited from some quiet moments or a slower buildup. The main attack feels unimpactful. It's hard to tell what the range of the weapon is and if I'm doing damage. More feedback from the game is needed, such like a sweeping trail on the sword or a cirle around the character on the ground. Some form of enemy healthbar would have been nice! Combat felt frustrating, but with some tweaks it might get really good.

The dungeon crawler genre is almost always about upgrading your stuff, so it would have been nice to see some way to spend you gold.

You have a lot of skill. Congrats on a solid entry!

Hatred Island by ImDaveead 2017-12-04T22:07:10Z

Feels like this game is trying to tell me something... whatever, I got a bit pile of gold and haters will be haters :D Fun game, nice message from mechanics, excellent use of theme. Good job!

Cat Saviour: The Rain Is Coming by Pavel Smejkal 2017-12-05T20:28:28Z

Nice level design, lovely graphics and audio <3 Movement is a bit slow and the jumping feels floaty, but overall a really fun game :)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Server Manager by kraftkar 2018-12-06T10:56:17Z

@benburgh Thank you, I appreciate that you went that extra mile and gave a score, feedback and recorded gameplay footage! I'm glad that you liked the game

Elemental Storm by BenBurgh 2018-12-05T04:51:43Z

Good use of theme. I had to sacrifice a few elements to take out the boss. Removing instruments and colors after taking out elements is a nice touch.

For you next game I would advice you to work on gameplay feedback as there is not enough feedback from the game. Small things like audio clips when you shoot, deal damage, take damage and die would have given your game a big boost. More than once I got frustrated with my character when he stopped moving, but then realized I had died. You have sound effects for the bosses but nothing for the player. Taking and dealing damage are important events in the game, it should be clear when they happen.

The mix of 2D and 3D makes it really hard to tell what you can shoot. Destroying the player bullets on impact would make it clearer when you hit something with a hitbox.

You did a good job with the elements, they all require you to move in a different way while fighting them. Of the 4 elements I had the most trouble with Earth since the attack often appeared directly underneath me without warning. I got around the earth attack by moving in a square, but sometimes the flower would become really aggressive and run into me, dealing damage and killing me anyway. (The flower leaves the arena and follows you around if you die while fighting it, and I found that to be kinda cute to be honest. :smirk: :sunflower:)

I'm not sure if it's the intended behaviour, but if you aim in a different direction than you are moving, the bullet will not go straight towards the mousepointer. The bullets are also really slow. It made it really hard to deal damage to a boss while moving, and since all the bosses require you to dodge it got frustrating. Realizing I had to stop moving to deal damage helped but it felt really unintuitive.

The time you spent on secondary stuff like music tracks, color changes and the cutscene could have been spent on gameplay. It's ambitious to include all these things, but unfortunately I think gameplay suffered because of it.

Overall it's a decent entry. Good luck in the future! :v:
