LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Micro Trooper by Split82 2017-12-05T22:58:45Z

I really like how smooth the gameplay is! Art, sound and all fit the overall mood very well. And these "Smoking crystals" :D

I kinda felt that going through the left side would put me on the right side, that would have been nice, just like TowerFall does it :)

Btw we wanted to make action-platformer and ended up doing puzzle one :D

Laws Of Attraction by SelfTitled 2017-12-05T14:52:41Z

I like the minimalist graphics. Dodging the discharged balls is pretty satisfying as well :)

Good job!

Power and Reaction by Murilo 2017-12-05T13:37:45Z

Nice game! I like the sounds, particles and overall madness including rotating laser when you have more power-ups :D

Space Dominator by hadesfury 2017-12-05T15:00:10Z

I like the graphics and the 6 minute limit. It's cool. Good job!

Little tutorial to that (at first glance) overwhelming UI would be nice though :)

Pub Crawl by bentglasstube 2017-12-07T10:06:00Z

The game is working, the theme is there but the gameplay, especially for someone who does not really drink beer is not really that fun. Good job anyways :)

Space Birds by Jakub Gemrot 2017-12-05T22:42:35Z

I really like the idea. The music fits it pretty well and the graphics, even if simple, are actually not disturbing the overall theme and mood. I had a relaxing experience :)

DETERMINATION by megabrutal 2017-12-07T10:22:34Z

Nice game :) I only wish my bullets would look differently than enemy bullets and that the movement would get worse slower (it was pretty bad for me even at the beginning :D). Other than that, good job!

EA's spaceBattle by dodormeur 2017-12-19T10:02:51Z

This is a terrible game... And I mean it in a good way :D Good job!

Pixel Cartel by automatonvx 2017-12-06T21:34:44Z

GTA meets Hotline Miami :D I liked it.

There was too much unnecessary (and hard to read) text for my taste.

Good job!

Ascension by Roberto Romao 2017-12-05T15:15:02Z

I can see some potential here. Good job :)

HTTP: The Game by SaFrMo 2017-12-16T08:59:21Z

What a great idea! I can see it as an awesome teaching tool for kids for example. Really nice :)

RAILWAY by lukbebalduke 2017-12-07T10:31:53Z

Very nice entry. There is just one thing but it's done really well. Kinda reminded me of Minimetro. Too bad you can not pause the game and modify the tracks, I guess that's intentional though :) I enjoyed it, good job!

Catsume: The Cat's Paw by MattWoelk 2017-12-05T16:07:22Z

The game works well and the art is nice. I expected the handgun to work in this "different" way :D I wish my cat played like that and it gave me money to buy more stuff :D

Btw we have many adorable cats in our game too, check it out if you like :)

Catsume: The Cat's Paw by MattWoelk 2017-12-05T16:07:27Z

The game works well and the art is nice. I expected the handgun to work in this "different" way :D I wish my cat played like that and it gave me money to buy more stuff :D

Hellrena by LeFayGames 2017-12-05T13:46:46Z

Cool game, really nice art. It was a little glitchy for me though (especially the Web version). Good job!

StackUp by BinaryUnit 2017-12-05T14:32:16Z

I liked how you have "two characters" you control. Physics were a little funky at times but that's fine, that's Unity :)

Btw we have cats in our game as well. They are not so obedient though ;)

Zealot by fasterthanlime 2017-12-05T15:26:22Z

The mechanics sure need some getting used to but after five losses I finally got the grasp of it and defeated the AI :D

I can see myself playing this game, really great job!

Crimson Assault by OnionBurger 2017-12-06T21:26:18Z

Pretty hard but good game. I enjoyed the micro :) Also having one last soldier and being Rambo is nice way to play as well :D Good job!

Castle Diorama by Abuki 2017-12-05T23:10:07Z

Very nice game :) The art and music work nicely together. If there were even very simple sound effects to player interaction it would have been even better :) Good job!

P.S. (SPOILER) How long it took me to click the cloud, you can't even imagine :D

Volt by Eostream 2017-12-05T14:19:52Z

I have the same problem as others. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. I'm being pushed around the level and I don't see what am I supposed to do

The Grand Mewdapest Hotel by Druvsaft 2017-12-05T14:00:49Z

Cool art and mechanics :) Just remembered how difficult it will be to have a tree and cat (as each year)... :D We actually have a 'cat game' as well, check it out if you like :)

TO HOT TO DOG by Lonzago_Art 2017-12-07T09:48:39Z

Nice game. The more you have the better for your manager and worse for you :D I liked it.

To be able to select the product using numbers on keyboard would be really nice :)

Squire! Where's My Sword?! by Magnega 2017-12-05T15:09:22Z

Really cool idea! The gameplay is interesting. I just got really unlucky and did not get any shields and potions for a long time :D

Fine work! :)

Warehouse Worker by Rixium 2017-12-05T14:45:50Z

The 'all shakes' effect was a little bit too much for me :D

Other than that, good job :)

Dragon Blood by Wafiqsha 2017-12-07T10:15:51Z

I love fantasy so I enjoyed the mood of this game. If there was more thematic music it would have been even better :) I did not really managed to consistently hit them without being hit, so I used the crossbow whenever possible because the sword was not really enjoyable. Good job, I liked it :)

Hungry Birds by kerzak 2017-12-05T22:46:44Z

Nice game :) Playing single player was quite challenging :D In two this could be really fun to play. Good job!

Cat Saviour: The Rain Is Coming by Pavel Smejkal 2017-12-07T09:25:26Z

Thank you all for your feedback :)

@shito Did you play on 4:3 display or something? Because the platforms should be visible (on 16:9) when you step on the switches. But you are right, sound cues for platforms (and for much more) were planned, they just did not make it in time :)

Happy Cat by Kumaka 2017-12-05T15:54:35Z

I like the music a mood. The controls are a little ... slippery, so that's how it's supposed to be I guess :D

Good job!

riskREWARD by Siepiau 2017-12-05T15:43:21Z

I liked the concept and look of the game. If you developed more of the mechanics or just simply more complex levels this could be really fun :) Good job!

I managed to get the policemen stuck in the maze so that made it easier :D

LD42 — Running out of space

Colony Builder by The Vall 2018-08-30T08:00:00Z

I never encountered any corruption. I just kept expanding and building walls all the way at the outer edge and just simply won. I sustained the walls by building a lot of mines and whenever I started running out of anything else I just built that. Not really sure if I exploited anything but for me, it was really easy.

Danger Do Not Inhale by Jajo 2018-08-20T12:37:02Z

At first, I played fullscreen on native 1920x1200 and the trees on left and right were not visible making the game pretty much unplayable. After checking out the screenshots I tried 1920x1080 and it worked fine.

ForestDefence by lunarDust 2018-08-22T08:11:58Z

Very solid entry. I like the graphics. Too bad there is just one level. Having a few with increasing difficulty would be awesome. Good job anyway.

Ant Factory by Pavel Smejkal 2018-08-14T18:48:19Z

@max-s Thanks a lot! The overall balance of the levels was one of the most difficult tasks for us (and they could still be better of course).

The ants disappear if you delete the building where they are headed. Or it may look like they thrashed the goods but they actually delivered it and the item begins producing immediately. Then it looks like the goods just disappeared. Or you encountered a bug which is of course totally possible :D

Good job finishing the game btw :)

Ant Factory by Pavel Smejkal 2018-08-15T10:46:51Z

@random-storykeeper Thank you for your thorough review :) The map moving mechanic was implemented just in case someone plays in a weird resolution. In such a case the UI could potentially cover the map and the game would not be playable.

We wanted to make a sound, but the time was running short so we rather focused on the game.

The levels were indeed quite difficult to balance and the last one remained as a challenge, good job finishing it! :)

Robots Of Outer Space by Merotar 2018-08-20T15:16:52Z

For me, the biggest issue is the controls. It is very difficult to build with a keyboard. Sometimes the arrow keys do not react, sometimes they react twice (?). Otherwise, I liked the graphics and effects. The sound was nice too. Good job.

RAMbot by lekkel124 2018-08-24T09:32:08Z

It took me a while to get into the mechanics and to fully appreciate the coloring of the RAM. However, after a few tries I managed to beat the second level and from there on it was a relatively smooth ride. I finished the game and liked it all the way.

The movement could be a little smoother; e.g., the collision box for the robot could be a smaller capsule to better navigate through doors.

The graphics are nice, music as well and the levels are interesting and fun to solve. Good job!

RAMbot by lekkel124 2018-08-28T12:50:59Z

@lekkel124 I would not change the LD version, do a post-jam if you want, but the collisions are not that big of an issue anyway, it's just a thing I noticed.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

A Branch in Time by mechanicallife 2021-04-27T13:09:22Z

This sounded like a really interesting idea - to play with other peeps through time, however, I'm not sure if I did something wrong but the game did not work very well for me. After filling my name I played as the mage (did I have a choice?), I used my spells without really knowing what they do while my unfortunate fellow heroes died. I was also later slain by the jellies and at that point I could not click anything and I had to restart the game. During the gameplay a developer console popped up with some errors and exceptions - I assume they could have been the reason for my experience?

Anyway, it seems like a nice game with an interesting idea (although I'm still not sure where do the other people come in:), too bad it did not really work for me.

Descent into Midnight Trench by kfischer-okarin 2021-04-29T08:12:38Z

Nice game, however, I also discovered very soon that there is a sweet spot about 1/3 from the left border where nothing collides with you so I've stayed there (to confirm my suspicion) and reached to bottom. At the higher levels I liked that you need to plan your approach because the swim speed is pretty slow and that the harpoon is more like a safety measure rather than a weapon to annihilate all fish in the game :D

Anyway, good job!

Grave Fallers by Pavel Smejkal 2021-04-27T16:49:38Z

@100th-coin Yeah, well all the tries are nice actually :D There is a 2 minute time limit so there is no winning condition, same as there is no escaping one's consciousness. However, that's where the metaphore ends, you actually cannot face the heroe's problems in the game :) Thanks for the feedback.

Grave Fallers by Pavel Smejkal 2021-04-27T18:15:55Z

@nyanpierre Thanks for the feedback. The climb may feel a little long in the singleplayer but it was optimized for the two-player mode where it can really help you and it feels pretty good to see the other player's "spirit" fly past you in the opposite direction

Grave Fallers by Pavel Smejkal 2021-04-29T08:35:04Z

@kaleido Yes indeed, I recorded the guitar myself. I was just going for something that would increase in intensity and would end exactly as the run ends so the player would have some sense of time and urgency even without looking at the in-game timer. This was a second take of something that came to mind and I felt like not over-complicating it so went with it (it was just a few hours before the submission anyway) :)

Glad you liked the game and thanks for the feedback.

[WebGL/HTML5] Who am I? by leorid 2021-04-27T12:13:38Z

Wow, amazing game. I really enjoyed the puzzles although some of them were a little repetitive the game did not feel stretched. The undo system was great, it allowed me to experiment and quicky work out the puzzles. The ending stats were also a nice touch :) Graphics was simple and clean and communicated all the design elements nicely. The minimalistic music fit the game perfectly and the sounds were on point too. I felt some Braid wibes in the air, maybe the undo + music + platformer reminded me of it.

Anyway, great job!

Research and Rescue by Kaleido 2021-04-29T09:47:42Z

Wow, great entry. I liked the clean design of the game and menu, attention to details such as particles from projectiles and pulsing HUD for energy as I was shooting. The sound effect also fit very nicely and the music was a good match even if not your creation. I also enjoyed that the game was not stretched unnecessarily, it was short and sweet. Overall nicely polished.

The one thing I've missed was some sort of decision making during the game play. Since I had just one weapon and movement, every encounter was about shooting and kiting (maybe a little tanking when in tight spaces). If I was able to for example slow the enemies, had some EMP to disable shields or at least be able to activate my own shield when I see projectiles incoming, it would bring some trade-offs and decision making. However, I totally get that the time is tight and it's better to have working and polished simple game rather than unfinished monstrosity :)

Anyway, good job!

P.S. The difficulty bump in Artilery department forced me to use all my secret kiting skills, luckily the bots did not lead their shots :D

Compulsive Diggers by Rolly 2021-04-27T18:05:14Z

I had a lot of fun "managing" around the bunch of compulsive miners. It felt like trying to manage a bunch of cats or a bunch of little kids that think "well, why don't I poke a hole here, I mean, what could possibly go wrong" the last thing before they fall to their inevitable death .

The game was pretty fast and I made a lot of mistakes that led to deaths of many dwarfs (such as placing a light in the path of a future ladder etc.). If I was able to pause it to plan my approach I would not protest, but that would probably defeat the "dwarfs out of control" feeling - Ok you don't dig here, you need to climb a ladder, oh, you need food, ok and you just died because a bunch of our mates dug all the blocks in this area, and in the mean time this guy dug all the way down into total darknes and is starving now, wonderful . However, I did not even notice how much coins I had, I think a lot, so maybe I could have but many more structures to save more dwarfs.

Graphics, music, and sounds were totally on point.

2021-04-27 19_57_48-Window.jpg

Anyways, a great entry, thank you!

Deep Dark Deadly Forest by Itskdog 2021-04-28T19:45:39Z

Ooo, the forest! I must say really enjoyed the voice lines and sound effects. However, it was quite difficult for me to play because I did not know how many resources I need to do each upgrade/to craft each weapon, I'd be nice if the message also mentioned how much of what is missing. Also camera movement using A/D or arrow keys would have been nice. After having many villagers it would have been also helpful to distinguish who does what at the moment by maybe giving the villagers some icons, or simply coloring them but this way it emphasised the "random villagers with low attention span" vibe :)

Anyways, good job!

Where is my nail ? by MrSamafu 2021-04-27T12:38:04Z

Nice game, here are some thoughts. There was quite a lot of backtracking at the start which made it painful to replay when I died. The level could IMO be a little smaller so that there is not so much dead space where you just walk around. It was not always apparent what is the way forward and for some of the leavers it was not obvious what do they control (and vice versa, that something is being controlled by a leaver).

However, I appreciated the music and sounds, the graphics was solid, and the worker showed some solid fighting skills to get to his nail :D

Good job!

Untitled Simulator by Eugenik 2021-04-27T17:37:30Z

Amazing game, I really liked the idea. I'm not so well-versed in the historical details of Hitler's life and I was glad that I could learn more about it.

It should be a no-brainer that we must not silence historical horrors but we should rather talk about them, study them, make games about them, so that we don't forget and repeat them. Therefore, it feels weird to say it but thank you for your bravery that you did not shy away from such a topic that could lower your ratings in the current world that is sometimes concerned about "correctness" and "not offending anyone" to a fault.

Two little technical details, one is that the game lagged really bad for me when the text was being written. Second one would be that it'd be great if it was possible to skip some of the dialog if it was already showed or even trim it from the dialog options and go straight to the follow-up questions (although I understand that may not be trivial).

Anyway, great job and thanks!

P.S. The title and dancing Hitler was just a cherry on top

Deep dark dungeon by ukra174 2021-04-27T11:46:19Z

At first I did not know what to do but after discovering I must press space to change direction I could play and I hope I did not miss any other controls.

I liked the idea and the music that changes with levels. The fact that you start with 0 speed at the start of each level made the retrys a little too frustrating for me (I don't mind that I crashed but getting to some speed again took too long - even getting to the orange orb).

I also liked that you can balance the speed by picking up the blue orbs and that you need to be careful not to pick them up when you are too slow otherwise you'll go in reverse or crash.

Overall a pretty nice entry. Good job!

deepfeater by Shoc 2021-04-27T11:26:47Z

I liked the music in the menu and also the one during the gameplay, however, I was not able to play because no input I provided seemed to do anything.

Brutus The Naked Mole Rat by Krisum 2021-04-27T13:27:20Z

Nice, I liked the game. Graphics and sounds were on point as well as the gameplay. The only thing I've missed was some way to deal with the "terror". Maybe some some item that when picked up in time would wipe the monsters out since at the greater depths the map was pretty cluttered :D

Anyway, that's my two cents, great entry, good job!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Sleeping Cat Drumkit Defense by iMer 2018-04-24T11:55:09Z

I liked the idea. However, after several rounds the rhythm became too difficult for me mindless mashing of all the buttons proved good enough to all the enemies :D

Last Man Green by ded 2018-04-24T07:25:50Z

First time I managed to pick up the goals and I was not able to place them back to score so I refreshed did it right :D

EMMA by SandBloom 2018-04-24T11:38:36Z

If it was on Google play I would try the Android version, this way I only tried the PC one.

The controls on PC were terrible, but you said they would :D It was not clear for a while what is the goal - where should I get to. The game could overall build up the difficulty gradually, I felt the timings were relatively tight from the beginning. The way how she runs and I cannot change the direction was frustrating to me.

Stranded - LD 41 Game by Corvin 2018-04-24T08:20:25Z

I liked the style. However, I never had to drink or eat and the puzzles seemed rather easy. Nice game :)

ClickerDefense by PhoenixofForce 2018-04-24T08:39:22Z

The game seems quite hard. I constantly don't have enough gold to build towers and the towers I have are quite weak. The clicker part is on the other hand very easy since there is a lot of time to click when the wave progresses. I like the combination though, why not click around if you have nothing else to do :)

Shoty Soccer by ArturasD 2018-04-27T20:11:38Z

I'd be great if you could kill the players :D

The Iron Front by Darylsteak 2018-04-24T08:59:28Z

In my experience using dots "." as an empty space when displaying grids on the command line works better than neutral characters such as 0 or N - you can see what's what at a glance :)

The alchemist (fantasy alchemist simulator) by DUUUUDE 2018-04-24T07:59:39Z

The tutorial left me completely confused, but after trying to make the first potion I got the hang of it. Nice game :)

Date or Die by Pavel Smejkal 2018-04-24T09:03:19Z

@Team-Luminous If you mean that you leveled up Earth and it was hard to get to in the next level, that is intentional. You can either level all girls up but then the game is hard on its own, or you can follow the one desired girl but you usually need to fight through more rooms to get to her :)

Thanks for your feedback.

Date or Die by Pavel Smejkal 2018-04-24T15:30:54Z

@jcwelgemoed No, that's not supposed to happen :D It's probably a bug in the procedural generation or just an exception. Thanks for the feedback!

Misty Night by sleepyGrin 2018-04-24T14:02:20Z

Nice graphics and music. It is a shame the rhythm is at the bottom and not incorporated into the game more. This way I looked at the bottom bar all the time and could not enjoy the animations and immerse myself :) Btw the big ghost is still quite difficult IMHO.

Great work!

Lorik the Slime! by Kumaka 2018-04-24T14:40:36Z

I remember playing this last time. Isn't it the same game as your LD40 submission?

Element Crush by vfqd 2018-04-30T14:22:26Z

I played a game with the same theme mashup already but this one was far better. I also really liked graphics style. It reminded me of Heroes III. Fine work!

DungeonSnake by xoxo4c756c75 2018-04-24T09:38:08Z

Nice game. Although I was not able to pass the level with the red area. I managed to eat only about two dots and the third one spawned in the red where I died before I was able to eat it.

Get back to work! by Glorious Kittens 2018-04-24T10:00:55Z

Funny idea, I like it. The only thing missing is a "Meaningless meeting" state and workers chilling in the meeting room :D Btw when I finished the game I had no mouse pointer in the menu.

Chalk Racer! by PSiv 2018-04-24T14:50:57Z

I like the idea that you do not have to count as fast as possible. Sometimes it is better to "precompute" the answer and unleash the boost at the right time :D Good job!
