Interesting! Very obscure :-D Not sure if that was intended or not. Basically as far as I can tell, after a certain amount of time parts of the screen become obscured in something (looked glitchy to me, but maybe it's supposed to be fog?), which causes damage to the player. If you don't move fast enough, you will be caught in it and die? Maybe?
Anyway, I made it to the end after some trial and error, horaay! Nicely done, all things considered :)

I've always wanted to be a grumpy box!

@wolfrug yeah, maybe I could have added more of a description. The weird purple stuff is just weird purple stuff; I didn't really think of it as anything :P Time constraints made me rush the end goal a little.

@catbutt I didn't have the time to draw a real human, but who likes humans anyway?
Beat the game two times, and my highscore is 9. Some indication showing that area is getting poisoned (like tiles starting to blink) might be helpful. Also got nice protagonist here :).

I imagined my character holding their breath in the purple stuff because of the title of the game :P
At first, I played fullscreen on native 1920x1200 and the trees on left and right were not visible making the game pretty much unplayable. After checking out the screenshots I tried 1920x1080 and it worked fine.

@jern I don't actually know if grumpy boxes can hold their breath ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@pavel-smejkal I think any resolution in the ratio 16:9 should work

Some suggestions. Would be great if there is flashing animation to show damage due to poison. Clearer attack animation on enemies. Overall a fun game. Good job

@tlcoc Yes, I considered that myself. There is very little feedback for when damage is taken or given. Great suggestions, thank you :)
Great game! Very cool and interesting! :D

This one is interesting for sure. I feel the controls are a bit uncomfortable since I have to keep hitting to move a space, and overtaking another character is a little less satisfying since I don't technically strike it. Is the goal just to kill as many monsters and avoid the smog? I feel the smog (or smoke or im not sure) overtakes the scene too quickly and may be better if it was gradual. Its still a great game and thank you for sharing! <3
I like the yellow-grass indicator of where the poison is spreading. It's helpful and lets me know I need to move quickly, and lets me plan areas where I may need to move through poison.
The little grumpy box with the twitching eye made me smile.
Does need a little more feedback for the player for combat damage on both sides, but I certainly understand that with Compo the time constraints are real.
I beat it on my 3rd attempt with an oh-so-impressive score of 2, LoL
