I liked the artstyle, however I didn't quite understand what to do. Pressing the arrows either with arrow keys or WASD didn't seem to do anything?

Great game. I love graphic style. So my congratulations <3
Good game. I like the art ! GG guys
Agreed with @hansj, I can't get the controls to work? The game also fires up my VR headset, I don't know if that'as related to the issue
I liked the music in the menu and also the one during the gameplay, however, I was not able to play because no input I provided seemed to do anything.
This game looks amazing but I believe it's broken. I pressed every button during the "fight" and nothing ever happened. Let me know if this is fixed (or if I did something wrong) so I can check it out!
Sorry, I tried playing this game 10 times in a row and I couldn't figure out what you have to do. What do these symbols mean and what do I have to press? No matter what I pressed nothing happens and you die. The instructions are not very clear. It is a shame because I can see a lot of effort went into the game with the graphics, the intro scene, the music, it even has a the main menu (even though the instructions menu is buggy). Please ping me so that I can recheck it later.

Sorry about these bugs, you can try now to download the light version in the same page, its 100mb, that should show you properly the interface! It's the same version but lighter, nothing else has changed, but you'll can see it properly and control it.
(Think the heaviest version loads slower and somethings doesn't load)
Thank you so much ^^
It seems this entry has a lot broken... It such a shame because what I hear and see it's pretty nice. It also suffers from texture loading issues where everything is pixelated and slowly loads in, which is not what you want in a cutscene.
Nothing happened whenever things happen in the "fight" and the instructions are pretty unclear. The left side of the Main Menu in the instructions is unclickable. (probably layering issues)
..and it is a bit shocking to see the large download size of the game itself, but that's just Unreal, no? **Do ping me later once you fix them.**
**This is important to tackle too:** SteamVR activates when you run the game. Please deal with that, and it may also be the reason why your download size is large.
So a guy stops me and speaks circles to me, I press WASD but nothing happens. I think this was supposed to be a rhythm game? I don't understand how to play.
@fiakaiera
Thanks for your comment. There were 2 versions, now you should only see one which is 105mb. Try with that version if you tried another one.
Also I'll look to fix that with unreal and VR, and any other issues (but i'm not sure if I edit the game it would be able to participate in the jam)
Lemme know if you can play the game, please ^^
Thank you!
@fupi
Hello, thanks for the comment ^^
Which version you played?
I've edited the post, hiding one earlier version which was triple of the current size. So now the only link you are suposed to see (105mb) it's the right version.
Lemme know if you can play and what you think about the game, thank you ^^
Okay, now it's better and now I can definitely give proper ratings!
It's definitely fun to play, especially if you play on beat!
Though here's possible bugs I see: * The pixelling at the beginning is still there, I am sure if that's intended. * The starting cutscene has a black box... is there supposed to be a texture there? * The Instructions "Main Menu" button still has its left side unselectable.
Here's my two cents tho: * Yellow arrows makes left and right *very hard to read*. I'm pretty sure you don't want that especially on the boss battle. * I feel the music cuts abruptly? It always feels like you can go longer than that. * The transition between battles takes *too long*... My interests keeps losing momentum whenever that happens. Yeah I can see them getting a bit drunker each time but still... * Just having the red text at the end with no way of interacting feels like I'm expecting a jumpscare and it's actually kinda rude to not give a way to exit *on fullscreen*
Other than that, if this was not tied to being drunk and all, you could definitely play with the rhythm-arrow timing mechanic into a full-fledged rhythm game with gimmicks! Good work, y'all!
@shoc Oh no wonder the download took 15 minutes. :p Ok I will try it again when I have time.
Ok here's the notes I took:
- Reaction time way too fast and unforgiving, couldn't get past the first opposite guy. - Images get pixelated when first loading in. - Graphics and music are pretty nice.
I thought this game was way too hard and repetitive to be enjoyable... Also I think using Unreal Engine for this is overkill, since all it does is make the file sizes massive for such a simple game.
This was pretty fun! Although I was first tricked by the instruction screen: the arrows are inverted, making me believed for a moment that I had to press left when it indicates right, up when it's left... I was very confused on my first tries, but fortunately this is just a mistake. Once you just follow the arrows it's pretty intuitive actually! And for one I didn't find that hard. Maybe because I'm used to rhythm game, the timing seemed generous enough to me. One thing that felt weird though was the lack of clear error feed-back. At some point I knew I was making mistake (especially in front of the red opponent), yet the game acted just like I was right(or there was an animation too subtle for me to notice, as I was focused on the speech bubbles). It made me believe that I had become invincible thanks to some kind of glitch, but eventually I lost so it probably counted as errors. I need to know when I fail to know when I succeed! :stuck_out_tongue:
I also really like the aesthetic. It makes the game not just a fast rhythm game, but a crazy trip with the point of view of a drunk jerk. The pixelated effect at the beginning is also quite neat. However I'm less convinced by the blur, it kinda goes against the pixel-art style. But overall, this game is really cool!
@itooh Thank so much for the feedback ^^
Like others said, I think it mostly lacked feedback for when you got something right or wrong, as well as what the time window was to pick a direction. Maybe if there were some projectile animations being fired at you when they pick a direction, and reacting with the correct direction could deflect the projectile (and reacting incorrectly will have you get hit by it)? It similarly might help to have health-bars of sorts to know how many more you need to get right to beat your opponent, and how many you can mess up before losing. There's also a reproducible softlock if you mash a bunch of arrows at the start of a fight, and then proceed to win the fight after.
All that said, it was a fun little reaction/rhythm game, and I really liked the pixel art style! :D
@meep Thank you for the feedback ^^ Once the jam period ends, we will update the game properly with that things Thank you!
The game is made in a nice style, it's like.Music in pixel style is my favorite in general like
I had a lot of fun with this one, I'm glad I didn't have any of the same issues as other people xD I had no idea what I was going into because there were no screenshots, you start the game and you're just a dude walking down the street, then the music hits you so hard it was so funny to me and the cop exploding when you beat him omg
@dantelich Thank you ^^
@itsboats Thank you for the comment, and thank you for playing it in stream, now we have 21 votes <3
